"I was not greeted, nor was I thanked upon my leaving"

"At the end of the meal we were surprised with an extra $9 charge for a 2yo that barely had any food"
"If you are looking for a highly authentic experience"
"Everything that we ordered was really good"
I was not greeted, nor was I thanked upon my leaving. I wasn’t attended to with naan bread during lunch buffet but once, and I wound up having a panic attack (not their problem, but was visibly noticeable) but couldn’t get the attention of the lady serving to get a fresh cup of ice (ice in a napkin to back of the neck can arrest panic), so service wise? This was nearly the same as last time I came here, so on that alone I won’t be back. I ordered lunch buffet and a mango lassi. I paid $18.xx without a tip. Had the food been amazing like other places (one is even Americanized and just around the corner and their flavors POP, but no buffet so I’d come here), I could see paying so much for a buffet where everything is a little nibble of this, in delicious gravy, but fact of the matter? It’s gravy unless you go to town on the chicken done in the clay oven, and so why the prices are that high, I don’t know. Also, much of the food was not up to deliciousness standards; both the panner dishes I had were chewy like balloons instead of puffy melt in your mouth like 99% of the other paneers I’ve had elsewhere or even at home. The Navaran Veg Korma says its “vegetables” as in more than one, and in my experience it’s big chunks of stuff. In this one? Mouthfuls of thin sliced mushroom and thin julienned onions, which we all know goes in nearly every Indian dish ever so I don’t even count that as veg. The other dishes were bland bland bland, and strangely enough the mint chutney was more spicy than mint. I wound up eating mostly dal makahani and rice.
Came here with my family. The place was bustling and the staff were working very hard to make sure the buffets stayed full and fresh and us diners got exactly what we needed! I tried the mango juice, and it was to die for. My mom got the Chai Tea and drank two more refills. My nephew also tried the Mango Lassi and loved that. The buffet has a wide variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. Anybody should be able to find something they like, and if they don't like it, they must not enjoy Indian food.

Vegetarian options
The buffet has around 11 vegetarian options. Some of my favorites were the Cabbage Masala, Saag Paneer, Mixed Vegetables, Navratan Korma, and Curry Pakora. There are also many more vegetarian and vegan options that can be ordered off their menu.
Kid-friendliness
My nieces and nephews thoroughly enjoyed the food and it was not made too spicy either. The decor is also family-friendly.
At the end of the meal we were surprised with an extra $9 charge for a 2yo that barely had any food. (And they didn't even give her any silverware) The lady who runs the place hid in the back and made her daughter deliver "the bad news". She thought it was smart, because we wouldn't argue with a little girl. Which it was - we didn't argue. We paid those $9 and even left a tip. We hope you're really happy you made an extra couple bucks today. It left us with a horrible experience, and showed us what kind of people they are. Now I can happily live my life without ever coming back to this place. From reading the reviews - we aren't the first people they happily made an extra couple dollars off. Thank you very much, and goodbye.

If you are looking for a highly authentic experience. Then I would like to highly recommend this restaurant. I order the palace dinner for one with khir. It is large enough for two. The flavors are amazing. The aroma of the rice is truly incredible. It’s a hidden gem here in the Northern part of San Antonio.

Wow! If you don’t find something on the lunch buffet you like, you don’t like Indian food. For a buffet, everything was excellent. They bring fresh nan to each table. As you walk in the refreshing scent of, I think sandalwood, incense is present. Service is excellent as are the real plates, metal silverware, and real cloth napkins. I always eat way too much here, just can not help it, the food is that good. If I had any complaint it would be the Tandor Chicken, it was still very good, but for some reason it was not of the same high quality of the rest of the buffet. Might be just me? All this food for less than $12, quite a deal for lunch. This restaurant rates 5 out of 5 to me. I feel it’s the best I’m San Antonio . Well done!
Recommended by a friend who immigrated from India, we drove 90 minutes to find this out-of-the-way restaurant. It was worth it. This is definitely the best Indian restaurant in the San Antonio area. Since their website talks about their menu being from northern India, I wasn't sure as my favorite dishes are from south India -- but I wasn't disappointed. The buffet includes Indian dishes from various regions. And, they are all well prepared. The buffet selection was diverse and includes both vegetarian and various meats. This place is well worth the drive. Lastly, we need to support these small, family owned businesses. They are a gift to our community.

This is an Indian buffet that has a ton of vegan options!! I came here with my friends who have no dietary restrictions because of their large amount of vegan items! Not only is it a large buffet with lots of kinds of food but everything is labelled well with signs so you know what is vegan! The food was so good! I wish it wasn't so far from my home because I want to go eat here every day!!

There were kids There. The place is big.
The food tasted horrible, maybe I just don’t like Indian food but the buffet that I had wasn’t appetizing at all… If a Chinese Buffet is mediocre then this is a below mediocre… Very pricy too, about $13-15 a person… You get a free side of roti / naan and it was in my opinion too bitter with the overfill of garlic. Maybe I was suppose to ask for a different option but the server didn’t give much communication. The curries were all mediocre and the only thing worth eating was maybe the chicken curry. Literally go to any other buffet then this, how does this even have 4 stars??

I absolutely loved the food, the atmosphere, and the service. You could smell the food as you pulled into the parking lot. That is always a great sign. And they were very friendly. Large portions. The lentil soup was like a warm hug. The garlic naan was perfect. The chicken oh man, didn’t lack flavor at all. I will be back!

***DO NOT GO HERE*** One of the worst food experience!!! Ordered chicken tandoori hoping for a tasty, tasteful chicken- but got a very dry, overcooked chicken on sizzler. Ordered garlic naan and daal makhani- naan was ok but the daal was stale. It should have been made 2/3 days ago and they just microwaved it and seved it. It was sour and salty. When asked why the daal was sour and stale, the lady said "I don't know. I dont work in the kitchen" And on top of that they charge you an extra 15% gratuity added in your final bill in addition the tip you have to put in. WHAT THE HELL!!! I DONOT RECCOMMEND THIS PLACE AT ALL!!!
Before the owner denies that I might be mistaking this with some other restaurant, I know what place I ate at and I will NEVER GO AGAIN. FYI If you get bad reviews, instead of trying to prove customers wrong, try improving your recipes. The food was bland, the sauce was watered down, and the chicken legs were the driest I've ever had. Not a single item on the buffet was good. Btw adding turmeric to everything is not flavor. And to all my non Indian friends who think this is a great Indian restaurant, you have been tricked. Worst food ever!!

Total disappointment, we threw a party for our daughter’s sweet sixteen and we received the worst service ever. We had to pay a full price for kids, even a four year old. The owner ( I think owner’s daughter) seemed very rude and inconsiderate. They didn’t fill out the food, specifically the meat portion. Our guests were waiting for a long time and finally it came but only a little amount. It was very embarrassing!! I would not go back there and wouldn’t recommend anyone. Very sorry!!!

Nope, in my opinion, now officially the worst Indian restaurant in the city. The food on the buffet was dry with water in it. Things had no taste, just spicy, the goat tasted like it was boiled in water and then mixed with the curry sauce. Vegetables had no taste suggesting they were boiled in water and then mixed with pre -cooked curry. Not coming back here again for 20 bucks. There's better places to eat.

My first and last time in this place, the atmosphere was weird, the service could be much better, the food could also be much better, something that turned me off, when I ordered the chicken curry, the waitress asked me if I wanted to order some naan bread to go with that. As far as I remember, every Indian restaurant I've been to, gave me Naan bread with my food. The whole experience was weird. I had to go to Baskin Robbins afterwards to get some ice cream.

I love their food! It isn't very spicy which I like. If you want spicy, I would recommend getting extra spicy level. We order from them all the time. My favs are the chicken tikka and navratan korma. The buffet was great the food was all delicious. The service was awesome. The only complaint was a pair of children playing very loudly while running around the whole restaurant and ruining the experience. While I feel like that was the parents fault not the restaurant's, it drastically changed the atmosphere.

The India Taj Palace has typical Indian food buffet style for an affordable price with a great atmosphere. Indian art on the walls and clothing commensurate with expectations. Food is always good, with subtle variety of flavor suggesting at least partial in house flavoring. Restaurant and restrooms are clean! Staff is friendly if not highly engaging, though this may be a culture difference. All in all, I will be back!

It's an Indian restaurant with a buffet. That's where the good ends. Samosas were disgusting. Naan was dry and flavorless. The buffet offerings were a joke and what was the tasted as if it was yesterday's leftovers. No fresh food was brought out in the 90+ minutes we were there and no dinner staples were available. Would not recommend.

This is a consistently good Indian buffet served with a smile. They do have an a la carte menu I have never ordered from but have seen people do and it seems delicious. The buffet menu is always the same which, to me, it is a good thing because I know what I'm getting. I have tried other Indian restaurants and so far, this is the best buffet. Give it a try, there's something for every taste.. really good food anyone can enjoy.
If you're seeking authentic, spice-filled Indian food, then this joint is not for you. If you have a western, bland palate then this might be for you. I've been eating Indian food for over 35 years all over the world, and this restaurant was a bit too bland and mild for me. We like authentic, full-flavor, spice immersed food. This is not it. But it was clean and tidy. The selection and variety is okay at best, but had better.
Every other time I’ve been here I got the buffet and it’s always excellent. This time the buffet was closed so I got the palace dinner for one and asked them to make it as spicy as possible. It was so good. Stop reading reviews and just go there.

Wonderful choices in buffet with both vegetarian and non-vegetarian fares. Good variety of hot pakoras. The fresh hot naan served directly at the table is a revelation in itself. The Chicken Tikka masala was delicious and the Saag Paneer was finger-licking good. But my must-haves here are the simple but absolutely delicious Samosas and chutneys, Sweet Lassi and Gulab jamuns.

While the basmati rice was great (should be for the price) the saag paneer was thin in texture and flavor. The vindaloo was not a vindaloo but a light chili sauce which was really disappointing… some Indian restaurants do this to Westerners. The service was polite and very fast.

Hosted my husband’s 50th birthday party here and the food and services, both, were excellent. The restaurant staff was very polite and understanding about the space and privacy needed for the party guests but at the same time they were very considerate about other customers who were at the restaurant . Highly recommend it whether you’re hosting a party, or just feel like enjoying an Indian buffet.

Awesome Indian food buffet for a good price. Very flavorful dishes, and many different dishes to choose from. They have more options than I've seen at other places. Love their Tandoori Chicken especially for the fact they have the smaller pieces without bone. Definitely suggest checking this place out if you're looking for some delicious all you can eat Indian food.
Food was tasty. I only ordered to go. I didn’t dine in but I did step inside to briefly grab my food. Place is outdated and it looks like they have an open buffet style, which is not my usual style. However, my butter paneer masala with naan was really good. hefty portion.

Great service, great ambiance, awesome location, very good interior decor. But food was hit or miss. I went for dinner buffet something like kadhi or raita were out of this world and something like pakora and samosas were not only bad but served cold. I also ordered shahi paneer from ala carte menu and that was pretty good as well.
I ordered here for the first time on GrubHub. The food was ready quickly, it came hot, the serving size was perfect, and the food was absolutely delicious!! I will 100% be eating here again, soon!
