ALL I CAN SAY IS WOW....WOW...WOW. 5 STARS My wife and I were visiting La Jolla on vacation and almost walked past what turned out to be such an amazing breathtaking experience. Ian's art work is so vibrant and rich in color. Every piece brings out a different thought and emotion. I could see his pieces in various places of my home. Aside from viewing the art in different rooms....my experience with Niky was 5 stars. She greeted my wife and I as we entered. Prior to this experience I have not heard of Ian. But I will tell you based on the presentation Niky gave my wife and I, we honestly thought Niky was the actual artist and just using Ian as a face to the image or business. I say this with the utmost compliment to both Ian and Niky. Reason being was Niky explained each piece with such vigor, love and emotion...I thought to myself "she know's these pieces too well as if she created them". As Niky guided us through the various pieces my wife and I explained what we felt after seeing each one....she was able to expand upon our feelings and go in further depth as to when the photo was taken and Ian's reasoning behind it. Speechless....... I also give Ian 5 stars not only for his work but for also having such a dedicated person such as Niky that sold us. Her knowledge and genuine way about her further compliments the art in this gallery. As a business owner myself it's extremely important to have a team member/employee that believes in the product (in this case Niky believes 1,000%). She sells effortlessly because you can feel how much she admires Ian's art. You cannot sell what you don't truly believe in and have fun while doing it. Great experience. Thanks Niky :)

Let me start this off by saying this gallery is gorgeous! I am a huge fan of Ian Ely. I first came across his work when I was living and working in Lafayette CA. I was at an Art & Wine Festival in Lafayette and was blown away by his photographs. I had never seen anything like them before in my life. Years later, I move back to San Diego and am ecstatic to find out that he has a gallery in La Jolla. I have been to a few of his unveiling events which have been so much fun. Seeing a gorgeous new photograph, exploring his gallery, enjoying live music, talking with Ian and his art consultants is a genuine pleasure. I currently have two of his photographs in my home, Archean Arc and Salutation. I also purchase his beautiful calendar every year and give them out as Christmas gifts, while also keeping one for my household. I have his coffee table book as well and have given that out as gifts too. His artwork is so stunning, the first time I saw Homage I was speechless at how beautiful it is. I was in a Cardiologists office last month and was taken aback (in an awesome way) by the huge framed Resurrection photograph they had on their wall. I was like "hey I know who that photographer is!" It was such a cool surprise. His gallery is a must see in La Jolla. His art consultants are so professional and so knowledgeable about each photograph. I love hearing about the back story to each piece. I will continue to recommend this gallery to all and proudly display his work in my home.

Ian's work was delightful. The photographs were grand, astonishing and left me with a sense of wonder of how such vivid colors exist in our world, and how the photographer was able to capture the beautiful moment infront of me. However, my experience was nothing other than bitter with the gallery curator as he condescendingly informed me that my personal interpretations of the art were 'wrong'. If you enjoy fine art galleys I would recommend stopping by as it was quite a sight to see. Yet I would be weary of voicing any negative opinions on a piece as the curator may be moody and voice back some negative opinions about yourself

The single star on this review is for the art alone, as the gallery attendant was one of the most pretentious, pompous, and rude gallery assistants I’ve ever experienced. Completely ruining my appreciation of the art because she completely misunderstood my comment on a piece, opting to belittle me and attempt to humiliate me in front of clients and viewers. I’d say visit this gallery but avoid any contact with the sharp, glasses adorned ice queen that refuses to allow for any sort of artistic interpretation or dialogue. Everything that is wrong with uppety art culture is present in her language and sensibilities.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. We had the privilege of meeting Mr. Ely himself, who was incredibly rude and clearly thought too highly of himself. We were yelled at on multiple occasions for being too close, despite being a considerable distance from his overly-photoshopped “photography.” I walked in with the intent of purchasing one of his pieces, but because of the atrocious customer service and disappointment in the lack of talent from Ian Ely, I decided against it. I absolutely do NOT recommend this art gallery.

The two people there couldn’t have been more rude and condescending, Which now that I’m reading the reviews seems to be the consensus. Obviously they have way too high opinion of themselves. Seriously I’ve had better customer service at Walmart and that’s saying something! The art was pretty, but unoriginal. I’ve seen these exact shots at every art festival. Anyone can be a photographer like this using that much photoshop. Bad experience, I would NOT recommend going.

My husband and I purchased the Resurrection piece for our home. We visited the La Jolla gallery in September and fell in love with the piece and with Mackenzie. We were fortunate enough to meet Ian as well that day. It has been an absolute pleasure dealing with Mackenzie and the piece was shipped to us in Michigan without a single problem. It is a jaw dropping masterpiece that we will treasure forever!!!!!!!

This is my favorite art gallery in La Jolla. The landscape photography is absolutely gorgeous! The pier, Grand Canyon and redwood images are my favorite. The atmosphere is so peaceful and the staff is very kind and helpful. Bought a calendar last year for dad. Shah even got it autographed by Ian. He loves it! Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area. Ian Ely's body of work is very impressive.

The glare on the obscenely and heavily photoshopped glass-covered artwork was almost as strong as the glare of the airhead artist himself. While the photos were pleasant to view, the ego of the photographer clearly unable to handle minimal criticism was not warranted given the replicable nature of the images that easily could have been taken off of a Windows default wallpaper selection.

Niki, the salesperson, is kind and professional. She is so warm and welcoming. Niki has genuine passion. Ian, the artist, is very humble. I had the opportunity to meet him in person while purchasing one of his pieces. His work is breathtaking and evokes emotion. When we come into town we always stop into the gallery. Ian's pieces never cease to amaze!

I’ve purchased multiple pieces from the Ian Ely Gallery and absolutely LOVE each one! Niky has been so informative, patient, and friendly through all my questions and obsessing about each detail - I could not be happier with the service and the works themselves. I will be coming back each time a piece comes along I just can’t live without!

Stunning photography that is truly an unforgettable experience! Every photograph is taken with such care and intention. Ian has a gift to see incredible detail in nature, and the perseverance to keep working until he captures a photograph that reveals layers of meaning and beauty in the world around us. Ian and his team are remarkable!

We had the privilege of meeting Ian personally at the arts festival in Salt Lake City! We were instantly captivated by the Grate Aspen and fell even more in love as Ian talked about how he captured and created the piece. It’s perfect for our cabin. It’s a treasure. We hope to visit the gallery someday!

Beautiful gallery. The host from the Czech Republic was so friendly and truly helped us to understand the intricacies of each shot. Leaving here with a new appreciation for galleries and photography in general. She was awe inspiring and as passionate about the photos as if she had taken them herself.

  • Cindy Felchlin

We had such a great experience with Niky. She went above and beyond to help us pick the very best piece for our house. She followed up along the way and even helped find an installer in our area. We loved Ian's work and are very happy with our choice!

I first saw Ian's work in Seattle. I was amazed at his work. He definitely has the eye for photography. I absolutely fell in love with the photo of the huge moon and the tree. My friend later surprised me with the photo.

  • Stephany Zamora

Love Ian and his staff. My husband and I were in last May and had an incredible experience. Had a surprise visit from Ian himself. Can't say enough good things about his work.

  • Alek Nee

The pictures are not look natural, it’s a lot of photoshop inside each picture. How photoshop can be a masterpiece? Not possible. Fake “masterpiece”

  • Gineane Stalfort

Wonderful gallery, extraordinary artist and helpful staff! Ian captures the beauty of nature like no one else. LOVE my pieces - thank you so much!!
