Awful! Ice-cold! Heartless! Greedy! My pet is really old and takes a lot of medicine for his conditions. Every time we visit, the Partner, Phil, writes a long list of tests and investigations he would want me to subject my pet to, all of which run into £400-500 minimum. As my pet is on maintenance medication for his incurable conditions, new tests would not help with diagnosis, or improvement. I struggle to give him current medication anyhow. I made it clear to Phil that apart from a regular test related to his conditions I am not prepared to put my old dog through stress and trauma in the hospital unnecessarily to perform additional tests that cannot improve his life. Knowing this, on my last visit in September 2014, Phil still insisted I had a long list of tests done on my elderly dog, running into £500 minimum. As I did not take up his request, he instructed the staff not to offer me an appointment when my dog stopped eating for 2 days. I was shocked. I was told my the practice manageress to find another vet., when my pet was an emergency. It was a chilling and horrific experience to listen to her cold, calm voice telling me that nobody in the 3 practices could see my dog on the day or the next day. There was no way I could persuade her to show compassion. Phil and this manageress are clearly not fit to care for ill, ailing pets that do not need further distress in their lives. Phil presented himself as a shamelessly greedy and heartless vet, who refused to see my dog when in desperate need for care. Another point of contention was my request for prescriptions to buy the expensive, long-term medication online, at a more reasonable price. I am disgusted with Phil and his staff for their unprofessional and unethical behaviour towards my darling old dog. I would not trust them alone with my pet behind closed doors. It's all about money and profit. This industry needs to be regulated and made accountable. Avoid this practice!

I was not pleased with the service from the Vet. She was borderline rude and kept making wrong assumptions every time I asked a question. This is my first puppy in a while and first time dealing with Vets in the UK, so clearly I had a lot of questions. I have a GSD, I did my best to get her from a respectable breeder, met the parents, went to the house, have constant contact with the breeder, got all the paperwork, YET, she kept saying: yeah that's what happens when you get dogs from a puppy farm. I correct her but at the next question she would said yeah, puppy farm breeder do that, oh yeah she probably not got the right medication or just over the counter medicines. I kept correcting her but it got to the point where I gave up. The next day my puppy was ill and had to book with them again, fortunately they didn't have a doctor on site and they sent me to the Wood Street branch... and OMG the vet there was a dream. Loved her and will be switching to them.

I have been using the Holders Hill Vets ever since getting our little cat, Felix. We've been completely happy with the service they've provided, we've taken our Felix to them about a dozen times over the last 2-3 years and unless I move I won't be changing surgery any time soon. They seem to have a way with the animals that seems to be totally reassuring, at least to our cat g. As new pet owners, we had a lot of questions about care, grooming, disciplining and generally just about I can provide the best possible life to our new family member. I would strongly recommend them to anyone who cares about their furry friends.

They were fantastic when our cat Patches was ill in the summer. They literally saved her life. She's an old cat with renal problems and had a pancreatic tumour which they operated on. It was a long and slow recovery for her but their care was terrific, it was a good call to operate and she is now thankfully well again. Everyone at the surgery/hospital was fantastic, Patches our cat became quite a star at the hospital and they all were so sweet and kind with her (and us). They are a really cat-friendly place. Thanks especially to Phil and Kate and their terrific team of lovely nurses....

Exceptional doesn’t even come close to my rating of the team at Holders Hill. Phil Barr is simply amazing-having been to many money grabbing vets practices who push treatment for sadly a material gain, Phil is a rare exception. He treats with compassion, honesty and respect of not only his clients but owners too. My 5 * review extends of course to Nicky and the rest of the supporting team who my 2 spaniels adore. For 2 dogs to beeline to their vets practice on a walk speaks volumes. They simply love it there. Thankyou for all you do to make my boys well and happy.

Our animals have always been at this vets for years, and we have always been happy with their care. Every so often especially in a time when life has changed so much recently somebody's action makes you smile. I picked up a bag of food for our elderly cat Honey. Next to her name written in felt pen was s little heart. Such a small thing but meant a lot as shes an old girl probably on borrowed time. Suspect might be one of the nurses. Great practice, you won't find a more caring or dedicated vet than Phil and his team are friendly, welcoming and helpful. Our 2 boys bounce into the surgery with waggy tails and smiley faces - pets happy to see their vet, what better accolade could there be?! Though not local to us, we were so impressed with the high standard of care and reasonable prices we decided to switch to this practice last year and we've never looked back. Highly recommended.

We got our cat about a year ago, and she was very sick suffering from bad diarrhea. After visiting 3 other Vet surgeries and giving her various antibiotics, which didn't help. we took her to the holders hill surgery , they have examined her and told us that she was simply intolerant to certain foods, they helped us finding the right food for her and since then our cat has been healthy and well. Friendly and professional service at good prices.

Brilliant! I moved from another vet as felt they were dismissive . So Impressed. Here I was made to feel like My pup was the only patient. It wasn't rushed and i was given all the time i needed. My concerns were answered and the staff have compassion and you can see, love what they do. Very friendly. Defiantly recommend

The staff are all wonderful at Holders Hill Veterinary Surgery welcoming and professional. Experienced, knowledgeable Vets provide excellent care and advice. A big plus is they offer out of hours and emergency care at their Wood Street branch. It's always clean and hygienic at Holder Hill. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

Exceptional vets. Phil is the best vet for my dogs. He’s very caring, very knowledgeable and the service he provides goes above and beyond. I have 3 dogs and and one is very nervous and Phil took his time with her and now she loves him. The receptionist Ana so helpful aswell. I would highly recommend.

Phil and co were the vets we used for our beloved pet Labrador Murphy. When Murph died, we found it too painful to return. More recently we have returned again for our 4 yr old Labrador Sull.... Excellent service, professional help and great advice. Thank you.

I have a 12 year old dog and she had to undergo an operation in September at Holders Hill, it all went really well and the standard of care she received was excellent. I have been using Holders Hill and Wood Street since 2004 and I highly recommend.

Reliable vets, the lady we just saw was so good at giving vaccinations neither my dog or cat even flinched, she was kind and skillful. Receptionists have been extremely professional and also kind for all of our visits over the past few years.

This is the place you can trust your pet! They are so caring and professional. After my cat had been neutered the vet called us few days later to see how he was. So welcoming and passionate about what they do. Thank you!!!

Staff here clearly love what they do. Never once seen a frown or miserable look in the 10 years I've been going with my ultra excitable lab. He loves going too, probably as much as they love working there.
