Awful. We paid $300/night for the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. First, our room was completely infested with mosquitos. I lost count how many we killed during our three night stay. We were up half the night on our first night killing them. We still got eaten alive while we slept. We are both covered in bites. The bathtub had a ton of dead bugs in it when we arrived. Second, despite it only being about 25 degrees while we were visiting, our room was always way too hot. There is one of those worthless, inefficient portable air conditioners in our room that was so loud you can't even hear yourself think while not doing anything for the heat. Third, the general cheapness of it all. The little things. For $300 a night you expect at least a baseline of niceness. The toilet paper is the terrible cheap kind found in public mall bathrooms. The ceiling in our room was peeling and looked about to cave in in one corner. The hotel has no soundproofing at all, is generally pretty loud. I get that it's old, but with the money they are charging and must be raking in, surely soundproofing is achievable. The pillows are very uncomfortable. We looked into staying elsewhere after our first night, but other hotels in Kingston didn't have any rooms on short notice for any reasonable price. After our stay, we received a text message asking about our stay. I replied with the above points, and they couldn't even be bothered to reply. Not even a "sorry about your experience." I can't describe how disappointed I am, and how much I regret spending money here.

We rated you a 10. We had two rooms. I thought your both your front desk staff were terrific. We put Austin through his paces both in making the reservation -I had the screwup with Air Canada points -and then when I arrived with my sister and her delayed son. Austin was very patient and kind to all. I saw him coordinating a lot of people all at once. Plus he had to run here and there showing people to their rooms - and in the middle of all his check in responsibilities, he came and rescued us. Thank you, Austin. This is an old house with lots of charm and interesting views. The house has personality and charm but the stairs squeak. So expect that. Your morning staff was also very good. My sister lost both the room keys -we did find them - in the mean time, your staff was reassuring. I would suggest that you have unsweetened oatmeal or cereal available at breakfast. I found there was too much sugar in your breakfast. The croissants were top rate and cheeses very interesting. I would definitely recommend this b and b.

My husband and I recently stayed at Hochelaga Inn as we were travelling through Kingston. The location was perfect, close to the water and downtown. We had our bikes and were able to cycle everywhere we wanted to go. The staff were very accommodating, attentive, friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast exceeded our expectations in such a positive way. The pastries and breads were very fresh and delicious, with more options than we anticipated. Our room was clean and comfortable, however, the bathroom was a little worn and dated with a ripped shower curtain and peeling paint on the ceiling. There was no night tables to put your stuff and hardly any outlets to plug your accessories in. The portable A/C unit was very loud. I'm ok with a little white noise but it was very loud and a disturbance to our sleep. There was no air conditioning in the common areas which was very hot and also brought many flies because of the doors having to remain open. We would definitely consider staying again in hopes that some upgrades were made.

The Hochelaga Inn is perfectly situated in downtown Kingston - you could not ask for a better location. Parking options are ample if you're travelling on the weekend as the city of Kingston does not charge for public parking on weekends (we parked in the lot across from the house). The exterior of the house is beautiful and quite charming. The reason for the 3 stars is our one-night stay does not live up to the $300+ dollars we spent for our room. The bed was comfortable, but the room itself just felt unclean. There was a dirty glass left at the bedside, which made us wonder what else was missed. We had to keep the curtains drawn as the room was street level and people walking by would be able to see in. If you're staying on the main floor, be mindful that you will hear everything. Breakfast was your basic continental style.. some pastries, small meat and cheese platter, and yogurt. Nothing special. We wouldn't rush back here.

This Inn is set in a historic building close to campus, with all the benefits and drawbacks that come with that. The wifi was hit or miss, the bed creaks, the walls had only minimal sound insulation, and the bathrooms feel (understandably) dated. There are other quirks that are more curious than annoying (including doorknobs at knee level in a building that is not accessible for anyone with mobility challenges). If you are willing to put up with those kinds of minor irritations, which come with staying in a historic building, I think you'll like this Inn. The staff were excellent, the building is iconic, the prices were reasonable, and the breakfast reasonably good was varied. The location is especially hard to beat, especially at that price. Overall a charming Inn with excellent staff.

Found the Hochelaga Inn via google search, booked online. We found the accommodations excellent, we like staying in historic places. It was within walking distance to the Grand Theatre where we were attending a concert. The staff were very friendly, early check in was convenient as well. Highly recommend this place.

Really neat historic home. If you like history and charming character it’s a great place to stay. It’s really close to the waterfront, parks and walking distance to downtown which is convenient. Staff were very friendly. Breakfast and the all day coffee was delish. I always worry about bad coffee, but theirs is very good. The only thing on my wish list was to have a small fridge in the room to keep drinks cold, but other than that they were comfy and clean. We would definitely stay again

We had a lovely, relaxing 2-night stay in this beautiful heritage home. Quiet location, only a very short walk to Princess St. and downtown. Large well-appointed room, clean and tidy; comfy bed and couch. Friendly staff. Good continental breakfast (included in room rate) included tasty croissants and chocolatines, very good coffee, and a large selection of teas. But bread other than plain white sliced "Donald Duck" or Wonder bread would be nice.

I had a delightful stay at this historic hotel. The building's charm is truly captivating, although some facilities show their age, a small price for its historic appeal. The staff's friendliness and assistance added to the positive experience. The location, within walking distance of downtown, waterfront, and Queen’s University, is ideal. Additionally, the complimentary coffee and breakfast were not only appreciated but also delicious, making my stay even more enjoyable.

We stayed with a friend at this charming B&B during our recent trip to Kingston. The quaint setting and cozy rooms made us feel right at home. Unfortunately, we were charged an additional fee for the delicious breakfast, which was a bit of disappointment. Despite this, we would still recommend the B&B for its comfortable accommodations. Overall it was a pleasant stay with some minor drawbacks. We hope to return in the future.

Room was pleasant and clean. Young man on front desk at check-in was friendly and helpful and offered to carry up bags. Free Breakfast was charming and a big step above the usual continental breakfast offered at most chains. Great location! Walked to everywhere we wanted to go. Best part of Kingston! We had a lovely 2 night stay here. Bridget at reception was very hospitable. Nice breakfast options in the morning in the beautiful front rooms. Location very goosZ I would recommend staying in the main building as the cottage rooms require some updating- which is planned in 2024. I would definitely stay here again

Really awesome and charming little place. The staff made this place feel really like a 5-star hotel while maintaining that Victorian feeling. Breakfast was great, communication via text was very effective and cleaning staff did a great job. 10/10 would stay again.

The inn keeper suite is brutal. May as we’ll be staying at a motel. It’s dirty the beds are awful. The furniture is dirty. The breakfast was good. I asked if there was a different room available for our second night the lady said no but the website says otherwise. Everyone else’s rooms are much nicer.

Agree with all of the other reviews - fair price for a beautiful heritage home, a great location, and the best continental breakfast with fresh cheeses, fruit, and croissants. only suggestion: bring longer charging cords for electronics; some of the outlets are in odd locations since it’s an older house.
