As a usual patron of this bar I'm disappointed to share that the service this weekend was horrible. I visited on Friday 1/3 evening with my boyfriend who also is a big fan of Hilltop, we love the pretzel & the artichoke dip, literally they are the best. Also visit Saturday 1/4 with a friend. Food & Drinks: Before I go into the negatives, I'll say if it wasn't for this weekend, I would have given this place 4.5 stars. The food, for a bar has been historically great. The burgers are good, fries, apps, and drinks. Love the pretzel and artichoke dip as mentioned. I love the cinnamon mule and my bf enjoys the Pilsners. We've brought numerous friends here from across the city and even Westchester as I've been so excited to have a good local spot. Service: This weekend, Friday, we started off good. Aaron our waiter took our drink and food order, got our pretzel and drinks. Then as the night progressed his stops at our table became less frequent and took longer to get any service. We wanted to order the artichoke dip after our pretzel and literally had to wait 30-40m for him to come back, granted we were working on our drinks so we just chatted as we waited but once the drinks were done we were still trying to flag him down, he just stood in front of the computer for what seemed like forever. Not sure if he was new and didn't know what he was doing so we have him the benefit of the doubt. When he finally came and we ordered our dip he tells us the menu has changed because it was now midnight and our order would be more expensive, it was only a $1 more but it's funny that now we get charged more for being after midnight when we were trying to get his attention since 1130p so the fact that no one ever came back cost us more on the menu. Our order comes out but it's then incorrect, we get hummus dip instead of artichoke and have to wait another 20m or so for the new order. At this point we're at almost an hour between waiting to get served again, got the wrong order, and were still waiting at 1a. We were already tired and wanted to leave but again figured he was new and were just being chill about it. The artichoke dip was great so we figured its worth it. We then again are waiting 10-20m for him to come back to get the check that we just walked up to him to ask for it because he had been staring at the computer screen forever again. The check: we get the checkheck for $58 but when we got our two receipts they were for over $30, more than half of an even split with with $1.50 service fee each. Now I've never noticed this before here and don't know if it's new but it's ridiculous that after the horrible service we received: slow and incorrect orders we're then forced to pay extra for the service? Sorry to say that's definitely going to make us tip less. This isn't a hotel that charges a service fee so to have a bar (especially in this area) do this is ridiculous. Other nearby and great places like Harlem Public and At the Wallace, Fort Tryon Public House don't do this. I returned Saturday with another friend thinking Friday was a fluke and this would be better. The service again was slow when the bar wasn't even that busy! My friend also asked the waitress this time if the grilled cheese had onions because she didn't want onions so the order was for a grilled cheese with no onions, the order came out and to our surprise it's a grilled cheese FILLED with onions! Why does a grilled cheese have onions? We called her over to tell her the issue and she says "the grilled cheese order comes with onions"?!? Didn't bat an eyelash, ask to change our order or redo, nothing, just walked away. Is there something lacking here with the staff that they don't like to service their tables or take the correct order? Not sure if it's new management or a new wait staff or something but the service definitely needs to be fixed if you're going to charge us a fee, it better be worth it! Hopefully on my next few visits this is resolved and hope management reads these reviews because if not I'll just go elsewhere.

Food is consistently good. Generous portions and well seasoned, I've not regretted anything I've ordered so far in the few times I've visited. Unfortunately, the wait staff is consistently bad during brunch on the weekend. I went in around 3pm to get brunch, which they serve until 4pm. I was greeted and seated quickly at the communal table, but then was ignored for 10 minutes until a server introduced herself. I placed my order, and never saw her again. My water ran out, and no one bothered to check if my food was good after it was delivered by a food runner. When I finished my food, I piled my plates and silverware and pushed them out of my way, where they stayed for 15-20 minutes. During that time, several wait staff looked me in the eye and just walked past without saying a word or picking up the plates. Once brunch was done and the restaurant started turning people away because the kitchen was closed, I finally saw my server, who looked at me while she packed her stuff and walked out the door. It took another 10 minutes before I was able to flag down another server for my check, who seemed put out by my request. I felt generous giving a $1 tip. The restaurant needs to do better by making managers more obvious with slightly different uniforms. They should be wandering the floor checking on all the tables to see how the food is, and they need to make sure the staff is doing their job. They also need to come up with a better way to bridge the gap between brunch and dinner service. I saw two different groups of people come in and walk out because they couldn't get food. Bad service like this is the reason I stopped going to Crazy Annie's (now closed) and is also the reason I won't be back to HPA until changes are made. I hope for their sake that they're able to before it's too late.

Pro: large selection of beers and mixed drinks. The decor of the place was real nice and gave off a warm feeling. Cons: I order the southwest burger with fries. Fries were good but the burger so was messy and over drenched in the sriracha mayo sauce that it was all I could taste. I also order the fish and chips... the fish was bland fries were good but luckily the sauce which came with this order was tasty. For dessert I had the Irish cream cheesecake which was yummy yet it tatsed store purchased not like it was made in the kitchen. (Not a bad thing just wanted to point that out). Also the dessert appeared to have had pieces taken out of it. Lastly I'd like to mention the service. My server never introduced herself never welcomed me at all. She just came over and said what can she get me and not in a welcoming playful way. During the meals she never once came over and asked would I like my beer refilled or glass of water refilled. She actually left the empty glasses on the table until the end but they were already takin up space on it. This was a the worse part of my whole experience here. The server being disengaged and I am not sure if it was just a bad night for her or ot was just against me because the table two tables down received better treatment. I saw the same server go and refill their glasses of water without being asked and she smiled. I would give this place another try but not for a while. I feel that this being in the neighborhood would be a nice turn but not when your treating the local demographic differently and unwelcomed.

If I could leave zero stars I would. I passed by several times and never understood why it was never busy and now I realize it's because the food is mediocre and over priced and the service is atrocious. My fiance and I sat outside - service was slow but I figured it was because it was a week night and they were understaffed. We ordered our food and drinks, had a second round of drinks and asked for the check. We got the bill and went to pay but noticed that we were charged for a meal we didn't order. We asked the server to fix it and instead they brought out the meal we never ordered. We declined the meal and went inside to fix our bill and even though the restaurant was nearly empty inside it took forever for anyone to even acknowledge us. They made us wait another 20 minutes, then refused to fix our bill, saying that because our server had already printed the bill they couldn't change it - plus since she had left there was nothing they could do? Our server was literally in the room. Then offered a gift card that didn't even cover the extra meal - like I would ever want to go back. This place was an absolute nightmare. Instead of working with us to correct the issue they tried to ignore us, lied right to our faces, doubled down and literally stole from us. I have never had an experience like this and am honestly shocked. Don't waste your money on these crooks.

I once loved this place, and came here as often as possible. I am not a difficult person, and try to be kind. We were charged gratuity, and a $7.50 service charge to use a card without being notified before hand. Our bill was over $250 dollars. I understand charging a fee if the bill is under a certain amount, but to be charged an additional fee for a debit card in 2020 is frustrating. The service charge should have been specified on the menu, as well as the credit card service fee, especially before receiving the bill. I honestly would have been ok with all of this, if it had been communicated better, and if management had handled our complaints better. Instead of listening, the manager was on the defense. She said things like, “by law, we didn’t post it on our menu, but it is posted on our windows.” This post on the windows is in an inconspicuous place. We also talked about how we have been coming here since they opened Hilltop, and the response was, “have you not been here in the past three months?” and, “well then you should know about this change, if you’ve been here.” As a person who works in customer service, I was disappointed in how this was handled.

Terrible service today (45+ min for service) and wayyy overpriced drinks. Beautiful venue, wish they had more events such as trivia and live music. Have had the Brussels sprouts before (not sure if still on the menu since I never got a menu so idk lol) and while pricey, you still get a large amount of food…however, the drinks are just so overpriced. It’s hard to get over. $17+ for a drink is ridiculous especially when you wait 20-30 minutes for it the another 45 for either the check or an offer to order food/a second round. If this was Times Square I’d get it…but come on. We wanted to get dinner here but got ignored until we had to ask the bar for the check. :( we decided to leave after being ignored for so long. Our waiter went missing. This place is usually fairly empty, which was the same case tonight, and it bums me out because it’s a very nice establishment and has so much potential. Can go just a few blocks away and have a much more affordable, and fun time. I think with some tweaking and marketing strategies this place would be a shining star in our neighborhood.

I wanted to try this place since they're opening so many bars and restaurants along the 150s strip on Bway. It gives a chill vibe and looks great! The 3 stars are really for the look and feel, and cause my friend did like his chicken sandwich. He said the bacon was great. I ended up getting the Honey Bourbon BBQ wings which were cooked well but the sauce just wasn't good it has a bitter kick to it as did the ketchup oddly enough. I was also turned off by the fact that we requested change our seats to a corner table and the hostess gave a bogus excuse stating that she wanted to spread the guests for the waiters. Literally 5 mins later a couple was seated in the exact table we requested. The waitress we had served that corner table and ours as well. This really did bother me. The waitress we had was great though. She was attentive but didn't hover over us. I think I'll stick to my usual bars further down.

Came in here about 2 weeks ago the food was great, great beers, but the service was horrible me and my wife asked if we could sit in a booth and the hostess said it was taken, Mind you we were there for almost a hour and no one was sitting there, we had to wait at least 30 minutes to order something I had to wait another 20 minutes just for a refill of soda, another 15 for the check and to top it off when we sat down, the waiter didn’t even acknowledge us just went straight to “what can I get you” and when my wife asked for extra ketchup literally gave us a attitude while the couple who were in front of us asked him for something extra they got it right away which was a white couple, maybe cause we are Hispanic or something,we been living here for 30+ years and never experienced anything like this in our neighborhood. Great food but horrible service

  • heysav

Hilltop is one of my favorites in the neighborhood! They consistently provide high quality food and drinks, and the service has always been on point. Last summer my roommate and I would stop by for cocktails to-go on our way to the river (would be great to bring those back) and now with the colder weather they're a go-to for picking up dinner on our way home. It's hard to choose favorites from their menu but the fish tacos and panko chicken bites are a great first course choice, the hilltop burger and buttermilk fried chicken sandwich never disappoint, and I can't even type "limoncello cake" without drooling. So whether you're dining in or picking up takeout, I can guarantee it won't be the last time you crave Hilltop.

I ate lunch here and had a pretty good time. It was not crowded at all and does have some limited outdoor seating. The drink menu has a decent amount to choose from although the food menu is not very extensive, which I guess is to be expected by the name of the place. The food was honestly just ok and nothing really jumped out and grabbed me (I had the Hilltop Burger and a flatbread). It may be a tad expensive for the area but not bad in general. There must be a music school above the place because I kept hearing kids singing a scale which was pretty cute. All in all, it was a fine place to dine at but with all the good ethnic food around the area, I'm not sure when I will be back.

We had a really good time and dinner at Hilltop Park. My favorite were the mussels (would definitely order that again) and the wings. My hilltop burger was delicious and cooked to perfection. The only dish we didn’t enjoy at all was the salmon burger. The waiters were nice and attentive. Prices are good and reasonable and our party of 8 left very full and satisfied. Overall had a good experience.

I’m trying to lose my extra Covid poundage and normally it’s tough to go out to eat for fear of having few healthy choices. But Hilltop Park Alehouse has a pretty good variety of fresh items. I love that they give you the option of adding chicken to any salad. I would love if one could also add steak, but perhaps that’s for a different season. We are new to the neighborhood and do appreciate the friendly, courteous staff. They always take our numerous requests in stride and with a smile. It’s nice to have such a comfortable place to go to, even for a quick drink on the patio. Also, their coffee ☕️ is fantastic .

Hilltop is a neighborhood gem! We went on a Friday after work and there was such a fun vibe! They had some great happy hour specials so we got some craft beer on tap for only $5. What everyone says is true - they do have the best burger in Washington Heights! It was so juicy and cooked perfectly. We had the Margherita flatbread that was super and some really amazing BBQ ribs. We also had to try a couple cocktails which were really delicious. The staff was super nice and friendly and I love the cozy vintage vibe inside. We will definitely be back soon!

I had an amazing experience at Hilltop Park Alehouse on Broadway in New York, NY 10032. The highlight of my visit was their mouthwatering salmon burger. It was cooked to perfection, incredibly flavorful, and paired perfectly with a refreshing beverage from their extensive drink menu. The atmosphere was cozy, and the service was top-notch. I'll definitely be returning to savor more of their delicious offerings!

We visit the area regularly and love coming here. Usually not at peak times, but whatever. The food is very very good. Burger is amazing, fries too. Kale salad was a hit. Shishito peppers, hummus. Dessert!!! Peach cobbler was awesome. Have stopped for a random beer and enjoyed the bar. Right now the Xmas decorations are wonderful. Just come here, I expect you'll be happy you did.

Amazing food and a good selection of beers, but way too loud at times for my taste. I had the best burger I've had in this city here, paired with a healthy portion of fries. Unfortunately, I happened upon here on a live DJ night and despite sitting as far from him as possible, it was still too loud to carry a conversation with the person next to me. A good selection of beers on tap, but the rotating drafts left something to be desired this time around. Late night menu is pricey, so of you're gonna eat, aim for earlier in the evening.

Nice little neighborhood place with an indoor bar, tables, and outdoor seating. They had a few beers and a cider on tap. The arugula and wild mushroom flatbread with truffle oil was yummy. The salad with peaches was lovely and fresh. The Buffalo cauliflower tasted great. Our server was kind. Oh, and they have Happy Hour specials. The only sad thing is was that we ordered salmon on the salad and they brought chicken. Regardless, we would recommend this place!

Awesome food and atmosphere. Hilltop burger is fantastic. Loved the sweet potato fies. The grilled peach salad was delicious. Drinks were fabulous. Service was great. I'm running out of adjectives. If you're in Washington Heights this is a great place to stop for dinner. Almost forgot, get the peach cobbler!

Went to Hilltop last night and ended up playing trivia which was super fun and not insanely hard like most of the ones I've been to. Definitely hard, though. But we had fun with it. Food was quickly made, fresh and excellent—I did think the fries could have been cooked more, they were a little limp. Our server was super nice, though we didn't see her as much as we would have liked. Craft beers were on point though. Felt like I was back in Denver for a quick second. And the cheesecake was incredible!!!!! Will definitely be back.

Last night was my second time at Hilltop. I tried the "Hilltop Burger," I ordered it with Avocado and sweet potato fries. The burger was exceptional and the fries deserve a trophy. However, they forgot to put the avocado on my burger. Also, when my friends and I arrived the waitress was nice, helpful and attentive. By the end of the night, other waitress was attending us. I didn't catch her name but she was a blonde woman. Her service could be describe as rude and aggressive towards us. Overall, I definitely recommend Hilltop.

I absolutely love the decor and feel of this place. Nice seating and very spacious with option of indoor and outdoor seating. The menu has great choices from sharable appetizers to an extensive list of cocktails. Prices are reasonable for what you're getting. I had the margherita flatbread with lobster bisque and a Rose Lemonade. My boyfriend had a crisp ginger beer with fish tacos. Everything was absolutely delicious with FRESH ingredients! The garnishes were beautiful. Cannot wait to come here again; thank you!

I came to this restaurant for the first time with my friend and it’s one of the most attractive places in the zone. We went in during the happy hour which is from 4pm-7pm and we selected the sangria pitcher ($30). For the entré I chose the grilled chicken, which I highly recommend. Order extra mayo-pesto sauce! Thank me later ;). If you like spicy you can order the southwest burger which is an excellent option. To wrap up and sweeten the evening you should order the key lime pie it was amazing! ...

  • Jessica Souza

Outdoor dining was a huge plus. The food was great - Im vegan and had good modifications. For brunch I got avocado toast without the poached egg, and it came with a huge side of greens. I also got a side of sweet potato fries. The Bloody Mary was very good - perfectly spicy! Cardinal was our server and they were a pleasure - friendly, sociable, and a great representation of Hilltop!

This is the worse place never order the chicken sandwich please! The sandwich contains onions and on my first bit I knew something was odd cause it smelled completely rotten . I told the server and he was so shocked that i can smell the old onions. It smelled like dirty wet mop! I didn’t eat the rest but sadly I was completely right I had food poisoning for 3 days straight . This was your menu back in September 10, 2021. The buttermilk chicken sandwich had pickled red onions!

  • Mary Strisik

The food was exceptional. Creative, well -prepared and fresh!! The service was great. I came with a friend on a night when the restaurant ways under-staffed. Sydney, our waitress, not only had to seat people and check their vaccination status, she was also the server. She put great effort into juggling all that. Terrance, the bartender was also super. He made great drinks, supported Sydney and was polite to my companion in spite of her hangry behavior.

I really enjoy this new spot! The food is always super tasty, the beers are generous, and the vibe is perfect. Reading these reviews a lot of the “one stars” are from the first week it opened/due to pretty common restaurant policies (ie don’t order at the bar if you’re at a table). It’s also in a great spot where a place like this was drastically needed. Definitely go if you’re in the area—oh and their happy hour is great too!

  • Jonathan E

I ordered the lamp lolipop chops, corned beef sliders and artichoke dip to try. They had this handmade bratwurst in a pretzel hot dog bun that looked amazing but there's no way I'd be able to eat all of that So far, I'm loving it. The lamb chops are perfect. Well cooked, delicious. Meat falls off the bone with a simple bite. The corned beef sliders are same way, cooked very thoroughly and the beef delicious.

Nice Addition to the Neighborhood! This place is like the bar in Cheers. Come for a burger and a drink. Same waitstaff as the tv show. Your food arrives before the drink though. So try to figure that out when you place your order. I had to explain to the waiter with 2 customers that people usually order a drink to go with the meal. So therefore do u think u can provide me with the drink that i ordered?

  • Shane Culkin

The part about the fast service is correct. I always appreciate that. I thought that I'd always have to sit at the bar to ensure I do not wait long for drinks but it is the same wait time as a table. It appears asthough they have drink runners as well. Excellent move! So far,- the new menu truly is outstanding!!! *My pick everytime : The Wild Mushroom flatbread pizza with a side of sauteed spinach

The few times I've visited Hilltop Park Alehouse it was for brunch. I require egg white which was made very well! The omelette, (with goat cheese and spinach) something new for me, really hit the spot and had me go back for another brunch, today. I recommend this place, especially on Sunday, for the live music. It's fast becoming a neighborhood jewel.

Great neighborhood bar! The food has a gourmet-ish taste to it. The food surprised me actually - the lamb lollipops and arugula salad are outstanding! The NBA Eastern Conference Championship game was on tonite - great times! This is a must visit! Also, checkout the nice pictures on the walls - GREAT TOUCH!! Very affirming!

Amazing food and service. The salmon burger was HUGE and delicious. Same with flatbreads. Our waitress, I wish I remembered her name, was so lovely and polite. We were there Tuesday night. They apparently have a new dessert menu and the s’mores in a jar was outstanding. Can’t wait to try the pumpkin cheesecake next time.

Enjoyed eating here in person but just placed an order for 2 items that came out to over 40 dollars. One of the items had a piece of a plastic fork in there and they also forgot the side dressing. I call back to get a replacement and they just sent the dressing. No point in calling back a third time. Do not recommend.

All - this a great place. Special shout out to Manny today. He helped me understand what I wanted before I even did via his attentiveness, very speedy service and knowledge of menu. Ended up being a perfectly paired dinner. As for the other 8 tables - same thing. You all have a rock star. Thanks! -M

The restaurant is incredibly spacious, indoor and outdoor. The setting, in general, would be great for gathering with friends and family, grabbing drinks and light food. If you're going for the food only, I felt that it left a lot to be desired. It wasn't bad, but just okay.

I have been here before and I had a great time but this time Im very disappointed. First and foremost staff is not LGBTQ friendly, The black waiter kept mocking me the entire night. Also they removed steak from their menu ,I will not be returning to this establishment.

The Hilltop and Southwest burgers were delicious!! It's hard to get a yummy burger in this area so my husband and I were pleased. Our drinks were good and we enjoyed the very casual/chill ambiance. No complaints on the service. Great addition to the neighborhood.

  • Julie Babka

Food is quite good for bar food. Mimi our server is great. BUT the bartender isn’t a bartender! Hence, three stars. First time here ordered a martini, took her 30 minutes. Second time I ordered the same drink and got warm vodka in an old fashioned glass! REALLY?

  • Daniel Vandiver

Finally! Excellent service and food, it’s such a blessing to not have to travel five subway stops south for the same experience anymore. Great quality for the price. Rustic and tasteful decor. A new favorite spot. You must get the bacon wrapped dates.

  • Teresa Trigas-Pfefferle

By far my favorite place. The menu is fabulous...Shrimp tacos and Hilltop burger are my favorite. The bartenders don't hurt my feelings. Friendly, great quality and setting.

Cool Alehouse/Irish bar/tavern feel, but more open. Went midday for lunch... Food was decent. Service was good, for a slow paced midday meal. Decent drink selection... Nothing crazy or too fancy... But enough options to offer something for everyone.

Went in on a Friday night. Ate outside. Food was good but nothing spectacular. Service was ok. I probably won’t be eating here again for one specific reason. When we got our bill there was an additional fee added on for “non cash processing

Had a wonderful curbside lunch at HPA today, the server (Hunter) was fantastic, the pumpkin soup devine, the Fried Chicken sandwich was scrumptious, and my wife says after 60+ years of cuisine, her burger was the best she’s ever tasted!!

  • Eli

Hilltop burgers just weren’t what I remembered them to be… neither was the service. Also could tell one of the servers had just come back from a smoke break..

I think this place has a lot of potential. It's not a as packed as the other local pubs but it could be if they make a few changes to the menu and also the Bartenders seem like their not happy to be there, that energy gets put on to

  • Monica Maganzini

Great spot! Good ambience, wonderful staff, tasty and creative drinks. The bartender Mike is great. I would definitely want to go back to try the food, too!

Don't order from here. Made a large order, they pretend to send it, then literally didn't pick up the phone for me or GrubHub after several attempts. They play weird games, it makes no sense

Everything on the menu in this place is good, their short rib and brisket blend burger has an amazing dry age flavor to it. The ambiance is very classic and the staff is great. I will definitely be coming back

  • Wendy Zaer Sherman

Would give 5 stars but waitress forgot my drink, didnt say anything, and I had to ask someone else. One if the best hamburgers ever. Wish they had sweet potato fries. Otherwise a great place. Lots of beer.

  • Julio Pereyra

Nice spot to hang-out, just a little bit pricey for the area. There is a McDonald's across the street and I ordered two burgers w/fries & one beer while I waited in which I spent $53. 00 bucks + tip More

Great burgers; they use very high grade meat and the fries are excellent. Service is ok and it depends on the evening and the person waiting on you. Overall a good neighborhood place to go back to.

  • Fernando Melendez

Great pub! Wonderful crew that takes care of you, food is excellent with great options in both dinner and weekend brunch. Plenty of screens for sports watching and a good lineup on tap.

  • Rosa Noesi

The place was really lovely. The food was delicious and a little fancier than what I'm used to. The staff was extremely polite. I would recommend this place if you want to go on a date.

Drinks were horrible. It is safer to get the beer or soda bottles. Food menu is limited but nit too bad. The fries were good just wish they had cheese on all layers not just on top.

  • Patty P

Lovely staff, but the beer and brunch menus are limited. The glasses smelled weird. Do not order the chicken sausage!! Only good part about the experience is the game being on.

  • Jared Garfinkel

I had a great time here. The food was very good. Tried the cheese board, polenta fries, french fries, chicken bites, and fish tacos. Good drink menu. Would recommend!

  • Leon
