July 2023 a rental agreement was entered with Hertz at the Pacific Beach, CA location. The website indicates to extend a reservation online however, when we attempted to do so, the website stated this location required an in-person visit. This inaccurate information created a delay as well as the 1st of many inconsistencies. A 1-month extension was entered ending in August. At this time, it was communicated the car had to be returned no later than 8/30 to stay under 63 days. The car was returned 8/30 and late fees were charged that we understood would not be incurred, and an 'Overdue Admin Fee' of $535.00 was added. The rep stated she could not remove this charge and to contact Corporate for assistance. 9/6 it was learned our account was placed on a 'Do Not Rent' list. Representatives in the Rental Suspension unit informed us a Supervisor would return our call within 7/10 business days. No call has been received and a pattern of inconsistencies in communication of terms is evident. The rental agreement received, as well as terms online, do not explain the 'Overdue Admin Fee'. It remains unclear why this charge was incurred when the rental was returned by the date the representative indicated. 3 separate email address: executivecustomerservice, rental suspensions, and customerrelations were sent over 8 emails requesting assistance and the response has been 1) no response or 2) only the renter may speak with an agent - however some representatives did speak with a non renter. Another inconsistency. Upon researching Hertz on the BBB website, numerous renters encountered the same $535 charge and lack of response to calls and emails. I have received better customer service from Hulu for a $7.99 charge than I have with Hertz who charged over $2,000 to a good standing, repeat customer.

UNSAFE!! Just rented a car through them. They are horribly understaffed and for this reason, I was made to wait over an hour for a vehicle to be ready even though I called ahead. The poor customer service lady was sweating trying to clean the vehicle quickly because no one else was around to do it. I felt bad for her. The vehicle- The vehicle's break rotars malfunctioned going down a very large hill to the point of the entire van shaking (thumping) despite shifting down. On top of that, the tires were so low on air that the warning came on. I felt very unsafe driving this vehicle and it ruined what could have been a good time. I normally use enterprise but in this instance, the price for the hertz car was 1/4 of the cost...now I know why. Never again will I rent through this company. The vehicles don't seem to be well maintained and they don't seem to treat their staff well.

I'm always met with expedient and friendly service whenever I rent cars from this location. They have some of the best rates in the area and they are conveniently located. Due to the fact that I am one of their "members" (which costs nothing) then they even treat me better. I was given one of their adrenaline collection (i.e. a higher end sports car) for a very small additional fee and when I went to return the car to finish my rental period they didn't have the luxury model I originally ordered and gave me the Challenger R/T for the remainder of my rental period without an extra fee. These guys are great and I will always rent my car from this location. Highly recommended!

First of all, I want to commend Jessica, the manager, for her outstanding service and assistance. For the lack of a better adjective, Jessica is STELLAR. The prices are highly competitive, but the professional, expedient, and genuinely friendly service provided by Jessica is unmatchable, which makes Pacific Beach and La Jolla’s Hertz counters shine and my favorites, which I’ll always trust to provide me with an outstanding service and value. First time renting through this location, NEVER AGAIN. This is the first time I am disappointed with the company, I’ve used hertz for all my rentals but for this one trip I chose to try a different location it was the worst mistake I made. I recommend the airport or Chula Vista location. And if you are a AAA member it’s better to go through them because when things go wrong THEY WILL MAKE sure things are set right. Even if it’s a couple bucks more it’s better to let them handle the reservation and anything that follows otherwise you’re left to handle the situation and it’s not pretty. I’d rate this a 0 if I could.

Rented me an electric vehicle while I was on vacation with 30 miles until empty. I requested gas and they tried to make it sound like they were doing me a solid. UPDATE: 4 business days later after requesting to speak to a supervisor, no call. Mysteriously they are not available when I call. I will be reaching out to corporate. Checkout took 2 hours, car had to be plugged In 30% of my trip to get us anywhere, and the management team will not call me back for resolution. Best part- I got a parking ticket because the car died on me and I had to park in a private lot. Thanks Hertz!

WARNING - A reservation with Hertz does NOT assure you a car. Arrived Christmas Eve morning to pickup our reserved car....told no cars until 1pm and they’d call. No call by 2:30...called them and was told sorry, no cars available...and we’re closing at 3 and we’re closed tomorrow. They would not have even let us know they weren’t going to get us a car, much less help us find one. Luka, the person in charge offered no help at all, “I guess you should look online for a rental.” This was with a confirmed reservation. Worst service possible. Worst attitude possible.

Both Rosie and her manager did an outstanding job! My chosen vehicle did not have the XM option I requested, so they found me an upgraded vehicle for no extra charge! Definitely a gesture to increase customer relations! I really appreciated their warm and friendly demeanors and genuine desires to make the customer (me, in this case) walk away feeling happy and satisfied. As a longstanding (over 35 years) Gold member of varying levels, this was definitely one of my best experiences with Hertz!

I went through Hertz for the first time to save a few bucks as part of an insurance claim. I was at zero fault for the collision that happened in September 2019. I usually go through enterprise for my rental needs and I should have this time too. To start the new year January 1, 2021 I was charged 1138.50 to put my account overdraft on the first of the year. Thanks Hertz for helping me start off my year with a fantastic start!

This place is closed. The number forwards you to another location. No one tells you the location is closed. I drove from LA to this location to find it closed afte I called to verify my questions at this locations number no one mentioned to me it was closed and the other location was 30’mins away on the other side of San Diego. Will no be going to that location since they are Leafly incompetent

Worst experience I have had. The vehicle was not ready even though I made the reservation weeks in advance. The vehicle that was brought to me was an older car with mechanical issues that were only realized once we got into traffic on our trip. The vehicle was not washed, the door made a loud creaking noise when opening, the rear right tire had a slow leak. Seems like Hertz hurts its customers.

I rented a Tesla while my model 3 was in the Tesla Service Center and this location got it right. The great service I am used to with hertz. Answered all my questions and provided excellent customer service. Employees were knowledgeable and patient and even tho I wasn’t able to get the lowest pricing offered the service was respectful and I don’t mind paying more for that.

By far some of the worst branch of Hertz I have ever been to. Not only is it extremely dirty, but the service is terrible. We asked for a receipt to be printed and the process took 30 minutes while NO ONE else was there. The staff was very unfriendly and seemed annoyed by our presence there. As an avid user of Hertz, I was extremely disappointed.

I loved my experience here. I rarely rent a car but needed one for my SD trip. Tianna was an amazing associate. So helpful, friendly, and patient! Next time I’m in town I will definitely use this location and hope she will be there to assist. A great customer experience for sure

Seemed unorganized, gave me the wrong car first because they didn't look my name up properly. The tank in the car we then got was half full, which was not noted when we later left it at a bigger center (was resolved). Got the gps cheap however.
