Stayed for 1 night, charged for 2, lied to and called a liar. My first bad review ever! I stayed one night due to family member in hospital. I checked out and paid for my one night with my credit card at 9.30am the next day and wasn't sure if I needed another night so asked if I could leave my luggage in their office or luggage room. Was told there is not much room in the office and to leave it in the room. Said that I didn't feel comfortable taking up a room with one suitcase as they would need it for another guest. The owner/manager said they didn't have many bookings and he would let me know if needed. Didn't want to lug up the stairs again but was given no option. Still felt uncomfortable about this arrangement and came back to claim my luggage and thanked them for looking after my luggage. When checking the bank statement, my husband noticed an extra $89 taken out a day after the first $89 transaction. Expensive storage for I small carry on! We rang 4 times over several weeks in between to get a resolution and were told each time that they needed to speak to the owner or to the manager and they would get back to us. They did not. Fair Trading then sent them a letter which they then responded by calling me a liar and saying I had never rang and had paid for 2 nights upfront and stated their policy is not to leave bags in rooms, so why did Chris tell me to do that? This had never happened to me ever before. I have never complained to Fair Trading before. I have never written a bad review before. This has left a very bad impression. If I could have got some sort of resolution to the extra money they took from my account without my authorization, I would have given a good review as I make it a point to see the positives. Food wise, the hotel has limited frozen or tinned food and does not cater for allergies. I arrived Sunday afternoon and there were no open food places or shops nearby including the hospital. I was happy in the end with just a tin of baked beans. The room was clean and basic which was fine with me as I travel with my own toiletry supplies. An interesting fact was when I woke I saw gekos wandering around the inside walls of my room. On the map, the hotel looks close to the hospital, but walking access to the hospital is quite difficult, even using their suggested shortcut. I needed the exercise so didn't mind at first. A taxi from hotel to hospital cost $5 each way. If coming from the airport, the hotel is not close to the train station and costs $45 by taxi. There is a bus service close to the hospital entrance, so convenient to the hospital but not to the hotel as it is a fair distance up a hill especially if you have luggage. You would need to get a Go card beforehand.

If I could give this no stars I would! The gentlemen that answers the phone has been lovely the whole time I’ve had to call him but the minute I called up this morning to cancel our booking he was nasty. My dad is in hospital after having major cancer surgery and had to get a permanent stoma and has had a few complications and set backs. We have been staying in Brisbane for 2 weeks now and it has cost a lot of money so far so this morning when I found alternative accommodation I called Herston Place to cancel my booking for this afternoon. He was very nasty and told me why did I leave it till the last minute to cancel which was out of my control. He then proceeded to tell me that I’ll never be staying there if I ever needed to again just because I cancelled my booking. It’s hard having a family member in hospital and not knowing when they are being discharged and trying to organize accommodation etc without being abused and threatened over the phone by this disrespectful, nasty man. I will be contacting patient travel and letting them know what happened. Hopefully they may be able to find other places for patients and families to stay that won’t cop this kind of abuse and nastiness. To the nasty gentleman, if you are reading this just remember you don’t know what people are going through, so if you can be anything, you should be kind!!!

What a gem of a place to stay! Firstly there is plenty of free parking. Then the welcome from the manager was awesome! So friendly and happy and you could just tell nothing was too much trouble. After an easy checkin we went to our room which was very, very clean. The colour scheme is the new grey and white combo and is one of the refurbished rooms. Everything you need is available including a small kitchenette with a microwave so you bring a meal if you don’t want to go out. The most lovely touch was the biscuits by Lily! There were 2 beautiful homemade sugar jam drops beautifully packaged as a welcome gift next to the tea, they were delicious and were very much appreciated as a special touch, thankyou Lily x The motel is situated in a wonderful position for just about all needs. We had a function to attend at Victoria Park and it was an easy 650 mtr walk to the venue. It is close to the university and hospital and walking distance to the train. If you want to go to the city again a 3 km walk or a 12 dollar cab ride. We were surprised at how quiet the room was considering the location and therefore slept very well. Obviously we will return as we enjoyed our time at the motel and we highly recommend it for all.

Booked having confirmed that there would have a ground floor room available due to my disability.. I’m able to move about 30 meters on level ground with 2 walking sticks before having to stop and rest due excessive pain .. On arrival ,after completing our paperwork, we were told our room was up 1 floor / 2 flights of stairs... no explanations. No alternatives.. “that’s all there is” !! I cursed every step I climbed up and every one down ... ironically I had travelled 680 kms to see the Pain Clinic at Royal Brisbane Hospital... My 73 year old wife had to cart our bags up these stairs with 3 trips each time.. Glad her quadruple bypass managed ! Thankfully a guest helped her as we moved out the next morning. Rooms were as expected.. yeah!! TV remote worked intermittently (probably low battery) Bedside lamp not working. Tiny heater was inadequate for the very cold night we experienced... Tiny bath in shower also was an obstacle so had to shower elsewhere. Lucky I wasn’t in a wheelchair (yet) Only wish we’d had the time frame to move elsewhere...

We stayed at this motel when my son needed surgery on his leg.My son had some complications and had to go back to hospital by ambulance the night before we were due to leave I injured my knee getting his wheelchair back into the motel after ambulance took him.So I ended up in hospital myself my son was discharged so we tried to boom in for another night were told no because room was being renovated. I found another room close by but had to wait for physio veforw hospital would discharge me.iWe asked tge motel if my son could wait in the room until I was back from hospital they said no and kicked my son out.He had to pack everything himself on crutches he was still in alit of pain from surgery. I got back from hospital to find my son sitting outside waiting for me in the cold it was only 11.30am and the room was empty and no workman had entered it ti do any renovations. THERE WAS NO REASON MY SON COULDN'T WAIT IN THE ROOM.Ihave no idea how people could be so heartless .

Would not issue a refund on the spot due to needing an early departure.. apparently we have to wait 5 days and speak to the owner which contradicts a customers right to a refund. So given the poor customer service here is my honest appraisal of the place... Great location in proximity from the hospital which is why we booked here but they could only give us 2 separate rooms and charged more for the 3-bed sitter which was exactly the same layout as the 2-bed sitter. We booked for a family of 5 were only given 4 towels and when we asked the Manager for a new towel she handed it to us with a scowl on her face as if it was sooo difficult. The rooms are dated but the linen is clean.. oh but no handtowels or face washers or soap or shampoo provided so BYO. Shower head kept dropping whilst showering.. surely the cleaners would notice this whilst cleaning? Definitely not suitable for a family who need accommodation away from home whilst visiting sick relatives on long hospital stays.

  • Keith Mark

My Wife and I stayed here last week (Wednesday 31/1/2018 and Thursday 1/2/2018) as we needed to visit the Hospital. On arrival, I asked directions to the Hospital (which is only a few hundred Metres away) and was given a detailed printout of how to get there as well as verbal instructions. We found Chris to be super helpful and with an off beat sense of humour, which was refreshing. We enjoyed our stay in what is a budget Motel but it was clean, quiet and centrally located with a fully functional kitchenette. Not sure what extras anyone would want for a bargain price, so we thoroughly recommend this Motel, especially if there is need to visit the Hospital, or needing close proximity to the City-better than paying an arm and a leg for parking!. Noted some uncomplimentary Reviews about this place but wonder what agenda the people have and interestingly, the Motel does not have a right of reply so we offer this as an unbiased review of what we actually experienced last week.

I booked this motel through Agoda for 18 nights. I had to cut short my stay by 4 nights as my mother was unexpectedly transferred out of RBWH. Despite giving the manager several days warning of the change, he advised he could not refund my money as I booked through Agoda and that was the terms and conditions. I contacted Agoda who gave me written confirmation of their willingness to refund my money but they advised that when they contacted the motel, the request was met with a definite refusal. I again spoke with the Motel manager, Chris, and also emailed him. I sent him copies of the terms and conditions of his Motel and Agoda. Both very clearly stated that there was one night only penalty for change of booking and the rest would be refunded. Face to face Chris simply refused and the two emails i have sent to the motel remain unanswered. I would not recommend this motel.

Worst experience in a motel I have ever had, I was called a liar and denied a refund when I booked for two nights, stayed an hour then left. This is my first ever bad review and I’m so angry I have to even write it. The room was absolutely disgusting, the sink was plastic and yellow; the air conditioner didn’t work; the fake, leather chairs had rips in them and the carpet was sticky. We left after trying to get the aircon to work, which was about an hour and called reception early the next morning to let them know what happened and get a refund for the second night. I was denied any refund and called a liar by the manager. This is certainly not a 3 star motel and if you have a sick relative in hospital this apartment only makes things worse, I recommend anywhere else.

Manager (Chris) and his wife are horrible people. Someone else booked the room for me as we were moving to Aus from Thailand so I didnt have any booking details. We were at fault because we overslept, however we we're not told what time checkout was the next day. I awoke to Chris' wife bursting into the room at 11AM (despite me warning I was naked) she said she didn't care and we had to get out. So after being shouted at by her went downstairs to be shouted at by him when I gave the keys back (literally shouted at). He was adament he told us me the checkout time, however I am adamant he didn't. I just apologised and left. Is it ever acceptable to shout at guests? Wouldn't a complimentary knock on the door at 10am have been more effective?

  • S Hume

We stay here regularly for hospital visits. Having stayed for as long as one week and as little as one night we always find we’re well looked after. The rooms are clean and comfortable, we can be accommodated upstairs or downstairs, we only have to ask, and the owner remembers us, so our preferences are always considered and asked about when we book. Extra towels and pillows and blankets are never an issue, the air conditioning works well and the rooms have ceiling fans. We’ve stayed with same day bookings and had “play it by ear” bookings at times due to different hospital stays and they have always been wonderful and kind. Absolutely recommend!

I have just stayed one night and after looking at all the previous reviews I so agree with what Keith Marks wrote. I was very happy with my stay and Chris was so helpful with directions to the hospital and as I was looking for something close and no fuss, I couldn't have found anything better. My room was very clean, Bed was comfy, Bathroom was very functional and the kitchen has all the basics you could need. There was also an information folder in my room that had a lot of great info, phone numbers for local services and several takeaway menus for food delivery and lots of options for sight seeing and places to go. Everything was covered, it was great. I would defiantly stay there again. Thank you for a very pleasant stay.

  • Matt Pease

Cheap, bit noisy but does the job Had to book last minute for stay in Brisbane and the proximity to the Valley was a key factor in booking here as its a short drive away and cheap to stay at. Bare essentials in the room, and air con works ok so that was the main thing. The hotel was a bit noisy the from outside but they can't control this, just depends on the proximity of your room to the car park and smoking seciton outside the hotel. The guy that manages/owns it checked me in, but was disorganised, no shoes on, had bad BO and kind of couldn't give a rates about things. Even though it was cheap, I probably wouldn't stay here again

great location to RBWH and easy to drive to, good parking facilities. have stayed in 3 different rooms upstairs, are dated but very roomy and clean. would benefit from having a sign or indication to have towels replaced regularly when staying for a while. can be noisy when children are running and playing in corridor or people are arguing late at night, doesn't seem to be any monitoring of this. also people will smoke on their balconies at times. Chris and his team are very accomodating and great to deal with. Nice to have friendly faces when staying away from home. Highly recommended.

I stayed at this Motel to see my husband in Hospital and was greeted with respect and was very happy with the owners and the room. So much for the comments on the sites that say they where rude or not nice . I had good service and a great room...someone also said it was outdated well you get that in that area but it was comfortable, quiet, and convenient to the hospital. I needed something to eat and they supplied a frozen meal for $10, I was happy that I did not have to go out to find junk food at 7pm at night, please be assured these people are very nice and I felt thy helped me when I needed it. Thank you to you both I didn't get your names but am sure they know who they are.

Stayed overnight for an event at Victoria Park. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming upon arrival, was pleasantly surprised to find our room was larger than expected. Although slightly outdated. And the sound of the plumbing every now and then, Things like location and the good quality of air-conditioning and amazing staff all definitely make up for all that was previously mentioned Would highly recommend if you're just after a nice quiet simplistic stay close to the heart of Brisbane for any and all of your leisurely activities

Great location, very handy for those who need to be near the hospital. The room had analogy channels on the TV. It had a fridge and self contained little area. When we left I felt very drained and a hungover feeling, strange as I haven't consumed any alcohol for months . It was very quiet and I got plenty of rest. I don't know if people believe in energy of a room or bed and who has slept on it, if they were ill. Strangest feeling that I have ever had staying in a motel environment.

Would never stay there again, stayed for nearly a week the room was never cleaned once even though it stated it would be. No fesh towels or sheets. Rooms are basic and outdated. Beds are very uncomfortable. Paper thin wall, could here people stomp around. The mangers have no customer service skills and very rude. Was given wrong room and when asked about it was told the room we asked for was already taken. The manger was very rude towards me and told me to stop my whining even though I was not when all I said after an 8hr drive I was ready for bed. Would not recommend this place even though it was close to the hospital.

My daughter and I have been staying at the Herston Place Motel when ever we come down for hospital appointments or stays for a couple of years now. I have to say that Chris on the reception has always been so happy and accommodating. We have found the rooms meet our needs and are very comfortable and quiet. The rooms are exceptionally clean and well stocked. Due to its location close to the hospital we will certainly stay at Herston Place Motel in the future and recommend it to anyone requiring accommodation for short stays.

A convenient place to stay if you need close walking distance access to the RBWH 5-10mins Tea, coffee, kettle, toaster, microwave, bar fridge, TV, A/C, hairdryer. Quite location. Limited on-site parking so first in best dressed otherwise plenty of street parking but don’t leave it late as the locals 10 to park on the street. Late arrival key dropbox just call head to reception to arrange. Fantastic view of Mount Nebo from the upstairs balcony.

My parents were booked in here by QLD Health under the PTSS. My mother needing treatment at RBWH. During their two week stay both my mother and father were spoken to like dogs by M'ment. M'ment should remember who their clientele is; people who are stressed, sick and away from home. Room is VERY basic, very small bathrooms and kitchenettes. WIFI did not work in the Room. On checkout M'ment were very rude and hurried my parents out of their room before checkout time. Sadly the PTSS are limited to places like this, which M'ment take full take advantage of.

I picked this motel as it was close to my one day Paediatric Advanced life support course that I was doing. Just needed a quiet space to study for an overnight stay and it exceeded my expectations. It was reasonable considering it was close to hospitals and cbd, it was quiet, they offered frozen meal if you didn't want to go out and had a vending machine and breakfast packs. It was everything I needed for my study day

The rooms are 4 star - newly renovated, modern, new aircon units, lovely bathrooms, comfy beds, useful kitchenette. We were met at reception by a very friendly smiling fellow. There is a free car park and the location is perfect for enjoying Victoria Park or driving into the CBD or Southbank. We have stayed in many more expensive CBD apartments (paying $40/day to park) but no more...this will be our 'go-to' now!

Great place to stay, especially if you have family at the Womens & Childrens hospital. Rooms are basic but clean and well kept, and friendly staff. Only downside are the beds. The mattress was like a tall ship in a really bad storm whenever one person moved. Remember... Don't feed the possums! Just admire them coming so close so everyone can appreciate them without getting bitten :)

I would not recommend this motel not nice, noisey no parking.we rang to get an early access and waited almost 2 hours till our room was ready. Not good enough! Well, good enough for backpackers not genuine guests seeking comfortable digs.falsr advertising as we were advised food would be abailable, but not cans on a shelf i might add. All on all, very disappionting, so we left early.

Friendly, helpful staff, went out of their way to help. Basic room with everything as advertised, great shower, but over bath tub. Beware downstairs coin operated laundry seemed expensive to me. Location handy to RBWH and STARS but atop a steep hill, with no cafes or restaurants found close by.

From the moment I checked in the staff have all been extremely welcoming and accommodating. Chris was helpful with adding extra nights as I needed them. The room was clean and tidy, bed was comfortable. Would definitely stay again. Tim.

The room is very basic but location great especially if needed re the 2 hospitals. Why I gave the 4 stars though besides location is the guy who we always get on reception ( don't know his name) but he is an absolute treasure to deal with & its usually when we are stressed over latest medical thing for one of us.

Worst hotel bed I've ever slept on. No menus. Far better hotels in FNQ for less.

The staff member who took my phone call was very understanding, and took my unusual booking with no concerns. The room was comfortable and easy to access, if somewhat outdated aesthetically.

Had a hospital appointment and this motel was so close I could walk there. We had a lovely stay and noted that everything was very clean and tidy. The manager was so friendly and we had no problem with parking. Will stay again when another trip to Brisbane is needed.

  • Dr. Daniel Grace

I am coming from hotel industry I never saw like that a hotel/motel whatever wifi no working in the room only works reception area. There is no shampoo in the room and there is no rubbih bin to throw your waste and more worse thing only one thing close the RBWH

  • Matt Johns

Pretty dated motel that’s only really practical for staying near the hospital. Could do with a sprucing up. Bed was really uncomfortable, I’d contemplated sleeping on the floor for a better nights sleep. Motel looked like something out of a bad horror movie..

  • Carl Hill

Yes, the rooms are fairly basic but they have all you need for short stay and are very clean . Very little noise so got a good comfortable sleep. Very friendly and helpful crew.

Man at reception was extremely rude at check in. Tiny rooms are sub standard. I wouldn't recommend and I won't go back. There's alot better for the same money if you look around.

Room was adequate but dated and needed some maintenance, no hand towels or face washers, but served the purpose. Very limited off street parking.

Basic, clean and tidy. Nice and mostly quiet. Nice small balcony. Heating very basic, bit cold in Brisbane for us northerners. Need to consider better heating arrangements. Easy walk to hospital. Would stay again.

Clean, quiet and well equipped rooms. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful when it came to making a claim through the hospital. They made me stay nice and easy...

Just kicked my sister out even though she's paid for three nights. She's just had an operation at the hospital down the road and now has no where to stay. Pathetic.

  • Luke Crimp

I have stayed here 2 times. Very close to the hospital. Always nice and clean. They will charge you if you leave dishes uncleaned. There is a sign in the kitchen.

  • Dylan Smith

Not good. Not providing extra pillows no blanket no shampoo and conditioner no tissues just to name a little bit... expensive. Never again

  • Philip Pearson

A very hospitable motel , very clean rooms and wonderful helpful staff . Only six minute walk to Royal Brisbane Womans Hospital Entrance .

  • Ash Moore

A decent place for people to stay, especially if they are attending the Royal Brisbane Hospital. Moderately clean, standard motel room.

  • Cheryl Allsopp

Nice and close to major hospitals, but they need new beds you can feel the springs from the mattress. Have no smoke alarm in our room.

  • Thomas Bagnall

Friendly and helpful reception, very close to RBWH, 300 meter walk, comfortable beds and a quiet location, plus free onsite parking.

  • Dianne Emeny

Friendly staff clean room, but bed uncomfortable, facilities adequate, over priced for what you get, best part close to hospital

  • Mark Wright

Had no hot water... Though it was fixed in a reasonable time in the morning
