Unfortunately, I have to rate this location a one star. I have had a membership with Hand and Stone for about 11 years and only went to this location. During the thick of the pandemic the owners changed over, we were sad but understood the reasons why the previous owner sold. Before the change in ownership, I would have given this location 10+ stars. John was fantastic and really knew how to run a spa. Every staff member was friendly, helpful, compassionate, and calm. The specialists were also great at their skills and never pressured us EVER. We even paid for massages when we ran out because we were always extremely satisfied and relaxed. Now with the new ownership, inexperienced staff, and pressure sales from the specialists, it might as well be a Massage Envy (I was also a member for 6 years prior to Hand and Stone). Everyone that was there prior to the change in hands had left (except one massage specialist, he is wonderful). It all felt very clinical/sales oriented compared to the prior owners. Once in a while I would get a kind staff member, but they didn't usually listen to anything that came out of my mouth. Out of all the rude staff members there Adeline is the WORST, how she is an assistant manager baffles me, I expect an example of great customer service from assistant managers. I constantly dealt with her (and she never remembers me...) my words always fell on her deaf ears. I always felt unheard on my wishes (i.e. requesting a female specialist and getting a male, appointments never actually being booked, asking for specific dates/times taking and 10 minutes to get her to look at those dates...etc). Every-time I came to her for an issue it was met with an immediate visible callus, interruptions, and scofs. For example, one moment that decided I wasn't going to stay longer was when the new esthetician used products/services I did not approve. I then asked to never offer facial services anymore since I do not want the only esthetician they have on staff, but that never happened and when my appointments would be cancelled on their end she would offer a facial. This last event with Adeline broke the camels back and im waiting for corporate to call me back. I would love to speak to her manager and the owner of this franchise because they need to know what caused a member of 11 years to suddenly cancel a membership. I never planned to cancel, no matter how many massages expired, no matter how much time I did not have, I wanted to keep paying the membership. I just cant justify the service for the price I'm paying, this is supposed to be a relaxing service, instead I leave more stressed.
Been getting massages and facials often here over the last several years and have seen many of the therapists and aestheticians come and go. I have always enjoyed the facials as the aestheticians have always been very knowledgable and great to work with. I had Kasey (spelling - sorry if it's not correct!) was awesome and I've booked in advance for my next facial with her. My massage experience has been ok here. As massage therapist myself, I have always tried to listen to what the clients are saying they want and what kind of massage they prefer - I don't feel that I have always been heard about my needs the last few times I've had a massage here. The deeper massages have been more 'pokey' like and almost like an acupressure therapy rather than a deep long and slow stroked therapeutic stroke which is what I prefer and do well with. I appreciated the pressure, but not the strokes involved - always feel choppy and disconnected. I had a CBD upgrade which helps my muscles relax and I think maybe that's why I didn't tense up so much when the pressure was placed. As a massage therapist, I don't ever want to instruct another therapist on how to do their massage on my body, but when someone is wanting a full massage with deeper pressure and in a two hour session, one should not make sure to massage the entire arm, leg, shoulders, and neck and glutes (as much as they are allowed to) - not just parts. I walk out feeling each body part disconnected from the other and well it just doesn't feel full. My suggestion is to teach, or remind the therapists, to do full long strokes with deeper pressure making sure to connect the areas of tension with those that are not - not just poking or pressing hard on the tense areas. I don't know if that makes much sense, easier to show it than to write about it. Overall the massage therapists have been good and I probably will just keep trying different ones until I find one that fits the style I prefer with the pressure I prefer and hears my requests in full before and during the massage. Love the staff here, always have been kind and accommodating up at the desk. Products used are amazing and I love having the option of purchasing products while I'm there. I do my best to always tip well no matter what since it is a service industry and it is hard work they all do. Thank you for a great spa day yesterday! You guys are really the best when it comes to massage membership companies.
UPDATE: I wrote this review last month on 08/23 and reported fraud to my credit card company. Still have not received a call from owner or management and they still charged my card for another month, and now owe me 2 months worth of money. I cancelled the membership last month and when I called today to ask why I was charged again, they made the excuse that they have a new system and didn't get the cancellation letter when it was submitted through email. They also said a manager would call as they have been saying the last 2 months. This place is so unprofessional and I have never experienced such lack of customer service. I will have to now drive to the business to see what can be done. As a small business owner I would never let this happen and would personally reach out to the customer to address this issue. I came across this place online and made the decision to get my facial there. I was talked into joining a monthly membership of a recurring discounted payment, for one monthly service. It seemed like a deal. On the second month of my membership I noticed I was charged twice. I called the spa and was told I would be reimbursed not to worry. That was the end of July. Every week that went by since, I was still not reimbursed and every week I spoke to the manager. Who, by the way was unprofessional in the sense of not returning my calls. Forward to almost a month later I had to call back because I was still not paid for the double charge on my credit card. The manager was not there but another associate told me that she would call me back and not to worry about this month’s monthly payment. That because of the double charge last month, I will not be charged this month. Well, its 08/23 and another charge to my credit card was posted. This is beyond unprofessional and I will be canceling my monthly membership and don’t recommend anybody signing up. I have yet to receive a refund or a call from a manager after multiple attempts to get this resolved. I will escalate this to the owner which is unfortunate. Save your money and go elsewhere.
Let me begin by saying Jaime is a great massage therapist but the management here is more than disappointing. I received a complimentary massage as a gift from a friend and booked a hot stone massage. I wasn’t advised there would be an up charge before my appointment or after, they just added it to my credit card as a separate charge, and I never signed for it. I didn’t notice later until I reviewed a bank statement. I decided to get a membership after that first massage since Jaime is great. I called to talk to a manager to understand the up charge twice and she called me back after a couple of days and left a voicemail. I tried calling a couple more times, left messages and never got another call back to resolve the issue. After a few massages, I decided to cancel my membership. I called on Sunday to cancel and was asked the reasons why which I gave and was advised I had to speak to a manager for some reason to cancel and sign something via email electronically, no manager called. It is now Wednesday, I called again today and was asked why I was cancelling AGAIN and advised that I needed to talk with a manager still, and no call back. A receptionist called me back and said my email bounced when the cancellation to sign was sent and called to verify it was correct, it is and I never have issues with my email. Maybe an issue on their end since the website has been down for weeks to book appointments online? It’s the same email they use to confirm appointments each time. It has been another 30 minutes and still no email to cancel. I tried to call corporate and only get an automated system that directs you back to this location. I have sent emails to both this location and corporate which should suffice to cancel my membership and nothing. Of course, you have to give 30 days notice so they can charge you one more time...BUYER BEWARE
First off let me say I have been a member here for many years. The staff gets 5 stars easy, the location gets 5 stars, the new owner gets zero (0) stars. I don't care that this guy owns 8 Hand and Stones, blah blah. What I have witnessed on all of my most recent visits (3 this week alone) is members cancelling. Long time members I always see - leaving. They don't appreciate how the staff is being treated and instead of running a spa with great sales revenue, he is trying to run a sales organization that just happens to sell massages. The push to get add on services is now part of every experience, putting the therapists in a compromised position. Their compensation has been revamped and now if they don't sell additional services they get a lower pay. As a client I am disappointed that leadership who took over such a busy and family friendly spa from the Fleming family would be driven to change the model to try and push revenue. I am interested to see how this plan works, raising the fees that were just raised a few months ago, another $10 and having therapists selling versus concerned over their clients well being. I have a membership at another spa less than a mile away. They also raised the prices, but without all the sales pressure, and members remain very eager to get services. So I am sad to see the change in leadership and hope the model gets better for the therapists. I have seen many business owners so blinded by profit that they lose touch with the human element that makes a business special and therefore has customers for life. I have over 15 packages here so I am in for a long haul to see how this plays out.
I had the absolute worst experience with this spa. There is another review that states they bait and switch you, which is true! They advertise one thing on their booking website and call you later to change it when it is too late to cancel. The front desk person who called be was very rude. I went in to my appointment early, even though I filled out all of the paperwork online. The front desk person was VERY rude, abrasive, and asking me uncomfortable questions about my pregnancy. Then I go back into the room where the therapist gave off a very weird vibe. She clearly did not want to me at work and made me uncomfortable about it. She then proceeded to tell me she would not touch my feet because I was pregnant (the entire reason I was there in the first place). She made up all of these reasons as to why she wasn't going to do a full massage. The entire time, she made me SO uncomfortable. She left the room so I could change and I was in tears. I made the decision to leave as I was extremely uncomfortable and would not proceed with the service. The front desk was again very rude on the way out. She of course charged me for the service, although I expressed my concerns with her. I would not suggest this place to anyone, there is a very weird vibe in this place and I would stay very far away. They completely ruined my day!
I have recently had the pleasure of booking a few massage sessions with Katie, and I must say each visit has been an incredible experience. What has stood out the most to me has been her exceptional ability to listen to my needs and concerns. Katie has taken the time to thoroughly understand my areas of tension and pain, and tailored the massage to address them accordingly. Not only was she incredibly attentive, but her skills in adjusting the firmness to different areas of my body were also remarkable. Whether it was a more gentle touch for my lower back or deeper pressure for my shoulders and neck, she has seamlessly adjusted her techniques to ensure my maximum relief and relaxation. One thing I appreciated most was her eagerness to share techniques and stretches that I could use at home to help maintain the benefits of the massage. Lastly, I'm impressed by her follow-up after the session. Katie starts and ends each session checking on how I'm feeling and if I have any lingering issues that she could help with. This level of care and attention truly sets her apart from other massage therapists. Overall, I highly recommend Katie for anyone looking for a skilled and compassionate massage therapist who truly listens to their needs and goes above and beyond to ensure their comfort and satisfaction.
Booked a massage and facial for my wife's bday. Was supposed to be a surprise until they sent her a text message confirming her appt. Mentioned that my wife is in her 2nd trimester of pregnancy. They scheduled her with a certified prenatal person but failed to mention that it would double the price. Spoke to the manager today about it. Said she would listen to the call about the price and use it as training but no mention of honoring the original price. When my wife was there in the office they scheduled the certified prenatal person to give my wife the massage during her break time. Although the massage therapist mentioned that she "hoped her negative energy didn't rub of on her" due to the miscommunication, it absolutely did. Wife said the massage strokes were quick and not relaxing. I don't blame the therapist. Poor scheduling and communication would piss anyone off. Thought the office manager would make it right today monetarily and she did not. Absolutely looking for a private therapist next time. I work close by and would love to support the business but would rather accurately warn others about the service. Facial was nice, per wife. Update 5/27: Sent email in response to Google review response. Awaiting reply. Update: Email Does not exist.
Called to book and their systems were down. Tried to accommodate us without the system and confirmed us a massage time. We got ready and were about to leave, called us back and cancelled telling us the paper schedule was confusing to read and they made a mistake. Rebooked for 2 days later. On the way to the massage we were in a car accident and didn't make the massage. They charged are card the cancellation fee. When I called to discuss the fee, I was told that I had to wait for a manger to call back. Waited over 24 hours for a return call. Manager stated that they needed proof of the accident to reverse the charges. I understand that companies have policies to protect themselves but this is excessive. The whole experience was a mess and they could have used this as an opportunity to make us into regular customers. Its not about the charge its about how they handled the situation. They cancelled on us we cancelled on them. How about you work with your customers and find a resolution. If they had offered for us to come in for our massage at a later date and they would apply the fee to the cost of the massage, I would have gladly accepted that. I will go elsewhere and recommend that you do too.
I was so happy to get a massage. When I came in for my appointment the ladies at the front desk were nice and friendly. I was told that Amy was going to do my massage. Then a few mins later I was told that Amy wasn't there and that Dylan would be the one to do my massage. I was fine with that. When Dylan started the massage he didn't ask much about my needs or what I was looking for, he just got right into the massage. When he started on my back he applied a lot pressure. I had to tell him several times that he was hurting me. I asked if he could rub me instead of putting pressure on my pressure points. He continued the entire massage. He did not rub my hands or feet at all. I'm not sure if that's apart of policy but I was looking forward to a foot massage. When I set the appointment up I had paid $15 for a scalp massage. When the massage was over I told him that I paid for a scalp massage as well. He said that he wasn't told about the scalp massage and that he couldn't do it because he was fully booked. When I got dressed I noticed that it was only 6:56 pm. The massage wasn't even a full hour. I am really disappointed in the level of service that I received and will not be returning.
Unfortunately, Hand and Stone really dropped the ball on this sale. As a former member of Massage Envy I was looking for another spa to join. When I made my appointment I scheduled a 90 minute massage online and received a confirmation for my time and appointment. When I got there they had no idea who I was and said I didn't have an appointment. When I showed them the confirmation email from that location, they checked their computer and realized no one had actually set the appointment. Oops! They scheduled me a new appointment in person and offered a free peppermint scalp massage add on for the trouble. I appreciated it, except when I came for my next appointment they had scheduled me for only a 60 minute when I requested 90 minute and reiterated that several times. It's very unfortunate because the massage was nice, and I really enjoy the extra services they offer compared to ME, but the reception staff just could not seem to get their act together. I really don't want to be tied to a contract with anyone who can't seem to get my appointments right repeatedly. Sorry!
If my review was based solely on my therapist, Kandy, this would be a 5 star review, hands down. She is the sole reason I am a member. The constant turnover of the staff, however, is the reason for the loss of a star. Frequent staff changes, that's somewhat normal,, but the lack of training on the systems is apparent with scheduling issues. The newest set of staff seems much less inviting, welcoming and warm than the prior team members. My guess is that there have been recent changes to ownership, time will tell whether the aspect of the business improves. Updated: the administration under this new management is AWFUL. Aside from Stephanie, the staff is inexperienced, unprofessional, ill advised and lacks the knowledge and autonomy to help the client base. It's a battle to get anything handled with my account. I canceled my membership originally because of the issues I was facing with the staff, I was asked to give them another try, which I did, but will be canceling for good as I have seen zero improvement with the staff and the handling of my account.
Facial was awesome... super relaxing which is what I needed! They were kind enough to let me use my spa finder gift cards as payment for introductory pricing and I signed up for the membership. I am only giving 4 it of 5 stars for a little frustration during the check out process. One gal checking out was charged for a 90 minute massage only discovering that she only got 60 minutes and her husband was still back there so they had to refund her... and then The next girl was charged the incorrect amount on her credit card and luckily she caught it and they were able to refund her... and then when I checked out only one of my gift cards was working even though she called to confirm the balance and that they were activated. Kinda “blaming” me that it didn’t work... they did sorta reconcile the issue but I’m sure I will never see the remaining balance ever again... all in all it was a good experience and each situation was resolved but not a good way to end THREE clients “relaxing” time... #welcomebackstress
I called this location to book my appointment at least 3 weeks ahead. I purchased gift cards at my location in FL to give as gifts and still had some available. I asked to book appointments for myself with my package and my friends with the gift cards. I was told they had to use them for 2 appointments. I was told in the location I purchased them that they could be used as upgrades. So I only booked my appointment. I booked a 2 hours with hymalayan and cbd. I got there about 10 minutes late. I walked in the door and was escorted back. They did not have me fill out the intake forms. I got ready for the massage and therapist left the lights on high. Started the massage without washing his hands. He did not know what he was doing with the stones. He just rubbed them up and down . This really was the worst massage ever and he even cut it short and didn't give the full 100 minutes. I would not recommend this location at all.
I have been coming to Hand and Stone for years and I'm editing my review from a year ago because my experience has changed that much. First, the prices for services and member fees have increased dramatically, which seems a little tone deaf to me. But, it's not just the price increases, it's the insane sales org that this place has turned into. Completely takes away from the relaxing environment that people come to a spa for to begin with. I'm typically the type of person who will upgrade my services anyways, but because they push this stuff so hard it actually makes me spend less money there. Lastly, the last couple of services that I've had all started about 10 minutes late and ended 10-15 minutes early. I know it's hard to get people in and out, but it just feels like a bad way to cut corners. There are many other spas out there for people to check out, you don't need to spend your money here.
I booked two appointment for my partner and I on the 4th. The appointment was at 1:00. We walked in at 1:02. I know this because I got a phone call as we opened the door. They wanted us to fill out a long form. It took about 5-10 minutes to finish it. I had booked two 1 hour Hot Himalyan Rock massages. I got at 45 min. massage and my partner got about a mere 30 mins. I received a full back, full arms, and front /back leg massage and was fairly happy. My partnership just got a BACK massage. His massage theapist complanied that we were 30 mins late and proceed to talk about his music for the full length of the time. Of course they charged the full $109. I would also suggest pictures of the theapist on the web page so that the client can select the masseuse they would like. DON'T GO HERE!! We were completely dissatified and this was NOT AT ALL A RELAXING PART OF OUR VACTION.
The worst customer service I’ve ever had from staff to management. Been a paying member for over 3 years and been transferring and using credits as gifts, visitors, referred members. I had a friend in town to visit and tried transferring with multiple credits remaining and have had zero problem doing this for years. Today they decide to enforce and tell me it’s been a policy for years and searched any notices they told me I had that, they were not given and was not received. Very inconsistent and terrible customer service. Do not come to the Paradise Valley location and policies are inconsistent company wide!! They do not value members and expect customer loyalty and do not give it in return. Extremely disappointing after going through multiple franchise owners and sticking with them. Avoid this location at all cost you’ll regret singing up.
Disappointing. I’ve had much better. Went with a friend. Her therapist talked for the ENTIRE massage and she was able to come out telling me her therapist’s life story. Really put a damper on her relaxation experience. My therapist rushed through mine and only did about 50 minutes- didn’t start until 10 after the appointment and I was dressed and out 52 minutes later. Not symmetrical at all. Spent more time on one leg than the other, and didn’t make the massage “even” on both sides on arms/legs. He did, however, give special attention to the problem areas I mentioned and was professional. I did not feel self-conscious about my body and he was attentive to hot stone temperature and pressure. He didn’t try to talk to me and allowed me to relax. I imagine he felt rushed due to overbooking. He was very nice.
My husband and I have been members for several years, I'd have to guess at, maybe, 12 years. We have mostly enjoyed a great experience with the PV location under previous owners, John and his daughter, Ashley. However, since the new owners have taken over, the service has suffered and the therapists we've spoken with are not happy. Recently, I was penalized for having to cancel a facial appointment I had made the day before due to an emergency in-home technical appointment that conflicted, and I had to unexpectedly honor that appointment due to a serious home catastrophe. I think you could be a lot more sensitive to each individual's circumstance, especially to long-term clients. We will be moving our appointments to the new facility on Glendale Avenue when they open.
I was visiting for the weekend and was so lucky to book with Karisa who had a last minute cancellation. My hip flexors were so tight I couldn’t stand up straight. Karisa spotted the issues immediately, and did some deep tissue work which provided amazing relief in just 40 minutes. I have been using massage for significant back issues for 30 years. I wanted to take Karisa back to Denver to be my personal massage therapist. Thank you so much, Karisa. You allowed me to enjoy the rest of my weekend in Phoenix. Wishing you much continued success in all of your endeavors! (PS. The woman who booked my appt the day before was very helpful finding my out of town membership. The front desk staff was really busy today.) It seems like a very busy location so book in advance!
The front desk staff was amazing unfortunately the facial part of my visit wasn't the best. My esthetician was very sweet but it wasn't a great facial by any means. She spent a lot of time prepping during the facial so there wasn't a lot of time spent on my skin. To be fair I did add the microderm abrasion because she told me it would take place of extractions ( which in my experience doesn't take very long). The microderm took awhile because she had to keep stopping to prep the machine. My biggest complaint was that I booked a 60 minute facial and when we were done I checked my watch and we still had 12 minutes left in my time block. I love going to the spa to feel pampered and when it's over I love how relaxed I feel. Unfortunately this was not my experience.
Great massage with Dylan! I loved his holistic approach to massage, he did an awesome job and really helps ease my back pain in just one service. Super grateful! I didn't hit 5 stars, only because the front end staff seem super focused on the sales aspect of things and getting memberships sold. I understand mentioning things, but it felt really pushy and took away from the relaxing experience. If there's a way to tone that down in the future, while still offering the memberships, that would feel a bit more balanced and inviting in my opinion. I may find another clinic to go to based off that portion of the experience, but use Hand & Stone as a backup for last minute needs. Highly recommend Dylan if you're looking to relax, but also heal your body.
I just had an incredible massage experience with Anne Marie at Hand and Stone. Let me tell you, she is truly unique and gifted in her craft. Her massages are not just about relaxation; she massages with intention and has a remarkable ability to heal both the body and the mind. Hand and Stone deserves praise as well for setting their massage therapists up for success. It's evident that they prioritize excellence and provide a nurturing environment for their team. I wouldn't hesitate to refer anyone to Hand and Stone, knowing they'll receive exceptional care from skilled professionals like Anne Marie. Anne Marie, thank you for sharing your amazing gift with the world. Your massage was truly transformative, and I'm grateful to have experienced it.
When I called to book the appointment the lady was so rude to me that I called the owner to complain. I went for my first massage yesterday. The place is lovely and relaxing but the masseusse I had (Candy) was not good. She was super nice but all she did was rub me up and down the whole time. Just up and down - to the point where it was annoying. I kept thinking "she couldn't have gone to full massage school...maybe she didn't go to any school". I have had hundreds of massages in my almost 60 years and this is the type of massage you expect in one of the discount places you see on the streets everywhere. I am sure there must be great practitioners and I will try again but....
I have been coming to this Hand & Stone monthly for over a year. I have intermittent nerve pain and never know when I am going to be in pain or not. I have been in tears at other companies when they refused to listen to my requests. It took me a long time to try this location. I started with Georgia, who is wonderful, but recently moved to Ann Marie to accommodate my work schedule better. Ann Marie has listened and changed the pressure to accommodate my pain and even focused her therapy on a recent injury to help the healing process. While I have only seen these 2 ladies, I would highly recommend them to anyone.
I have been getting facials here for a little over 6 months and I have never been disappointed. From the moment I walk through the doors I am overwhelmed with a sense of peace and tranquility. Then, just when I think it can't get better, Homa (she is my favorite) brings me back to the room. After a thorough cleanse and assessment she gives me her recommendation on what kind of treatment I need that day and what I should be doing at home. She is absolutely incredible! I never knew a facial could be that therapeutic! Homa not only rejuvenates my face but my soul as well! I can't wait to see her next month!
I have been going for a while now and this has been the only massage place I’ve gone to. I love McKenna after trying a few of the other massage therapists. She was really friendly and made me comfortable. I have felt the most relaxed in a long time and the hot stone enhancement was an awesome idea! No one has ever worked on my neck and that was amazing! She did the right amount of pressure and was able to get most of my knots out! I love this place! The ladies are always super sweet and help answer my questions. I’m also glad I got a membership because it helps me pay less and do monthly massages.
I've been going to hand & stone for several years now. My issue is pain relief from my desk job. I've most recently been working with Georgia. She's very experienced and knows how to target the problem areas. We've gone through alot. Georgia educates me on the advantages of different treatment options available. The best is hot rocks! Reason why is it relaxes the muscles right away. Getting tight muscles to open up takes alot of time and effort. The stones do this instantly. Then Georiga works out the issues with little to no resistance. Thank you Hand & Stone AND Georgia!!
I had a prenatal massage here last week. Literally the worst and the massage therapist was basically just rubbing lotion on me which I could have done at home. My back and hip pain was not worked. The masseuse was wearing gloves which I'm not sure is a requirement for prenatal massage but it was slippery and no tension at all. I even told her I prefer hard tension at the beginning of session. Will not be going back here. I had another prenatal at Babymoon Inn downtown and it was fabulous compared to this one. Makes me think they aren't educated on prenatal here.
Been a member for about ten years, but I had to cancel my membership after two solid years of management not retaining their talent at this location. I’d find a therapist I liked only to find out they’d be leaving after just a few months. I only like deep tissue but there is no one there who can do a deep tissue with skill. Currently there is one therapist I like but she is booked out months in advance so the front desk was constantly setting me up with someone incompatible. Got tired of going there and leaving with just moisturized skin and no muscle relief.
Over the last 5 years been here about 3x - never been blown away, always felt like it was "fine". Wife just got home after a full-price $130 1-hr that started 8mins late and ended 4mins early and only addressed the back of her body instead of anything else. Of course got the hard sell coming and going on the monthly signup and how the massage would be 50% cheaper if we signed up for it. This is not relaxing or amazingly high quality and just feels annoying. I would go elsewhere or better yet, hire a masseuse directly so they make the majority of the fee.
I have been visiting PV Hand and Stone for my facials for nearly a year and my skin has been looking so much better. I have several skin conditions and my esthetician, Casey, takes so much care to perfect our treatment session based on the season and my skin just being reactive. I could not be more impressed with her attentiveness and care. As we know, our face can be our representation….and my esteem is increasing. I do wish that the prices were lower as I would love to come more than once a month….and not have to pay in excess of my membership.
I have been a member for at least 10 years. Was sad to hear the original owners are gone. They were very friendly. And my favorite esthetician Rebecca was gone. I went with a new person ( for me). It was good, but felt I was getting the upsale speech and ended up spending way more than usual. I do get massages from Candy and she is wonderful. Helps me ease my tight hip flexors and sore legs. She worked on me for a good length of time and I felt so much better afterwards. I schedule another appointment immediately as she is quite popular now.
I came in for a massage to focus on my lower back and left hip. Jaime was my massage therapist and from the very start of the session he was finding the areas in my back and hips that were tight and tender. He had techniques that I hadn't experienced before that brought so much relief immediately that I was completely amazed. Then he worked on an issue with my shoulder and elbow was able to relieve the tightness and pain. Jaime's expertise in therapeutic massage is astonishing. What a gem Hand and Stone has in their spa.
The first massage I had was not a good fit between me and the therapist. I spoke with the front desk and they suggested Dylan would be a good fit for me. Oh my, was she ever right. Dylan is intuitive, he listens and he knows his stuff. I immediately booked a 2 hour with him the next week. He is nothing short of amazing and they have the best front desk personnel of any hand and stone I have been to. This last visit was a 90 min. They were 7 minutes late taking me to the room and early finishing. Disappointing.
Update: I had a massage with Anne Marie and my life has been CHANGED! She was put on this earth to massage! Anne Marie listened to my concerns and worked on them in a way that was both relaxing and corrective. I can’t wait to try her Himalayan Salt Stone massage next time!! I recently had a facial with Homa and OMG!!! I was amazed by her knowledge of the skin and products!! We tried the Propen Nanoinfusion upgrade and the texture in my skin is gone!! Thank you Homa!!!
I love everything about Hand and Stone Laguna but the rooms are ridiculously cold. The management knows about it but has not taken it on. No blanket was available so I asked that my masseuse open the hot stone box to heat the room. They were wonderful in crediting me and acknowledging but I have had minor intrusions of rooms being too cold in the past and it is not getting fixed. I will go back but I'm demanding a blanket or two BEFORE I go in the room.
Went here with my sister for massages. The massages were great! However, I did 2 add ons and paid like $30 for the add ons, and the massage itself. I come to find out that they are not add ons to the massage, they just replace the massage time. So I had less massage time, and still paid for the whole service, and the add ons. Silly. I was disappointed about that...I wouldn't have added on add ons if I'd have known it was to replace the massage.
We came to Hand and Stone twice last week for my sisters birthday week in Phoenix. Two different locations, the first location each of our experiences we all right. But this second location, which started off very rocky, ended up being such a relaxing day for all three of us in attendance. It became the soothing experience we were hoping for. Thank you Drew for handling our situation with such gentleness and making sure we felt seen and heard.
Wonderful professionalism displayed by the whole office. My therapist, Georgia, was very skilled. The massage was therapeutic. Her use of discussion during the service was appropriately minimal. Georgia’s knowledge of her art was impeccable. I was appreciative of details like her ability to sense my muscles feedback to tweak a stretch and the scented warm moist hot towel to wipe off with and watermelon water at the conclusion of my service.
Visitation from A to Z included an impromptu visit to Hand and Stone. It was my friend girl’s birthday weekend and was treated to a facial. Jokssan was my awesome esthetician, who made my skin glow. Stephanie was an amazing hostess who interested me in a membership. As a fellow native New Yorker, Stephanie was a grest tour guide sharing a local a local spot to hear live music for Sunday Fun day. Arizona is not disappointing. Thank you!
I've had a membership with Hand and Stone for a couple of years, and have visited several locations. I have never had a bad experience, but over the weekend I had my first visit to the new Camelback location. Rose (at the front desk) was friendly and personable, and my massage with Tina was WONDERFUL! I'll definitely be returning to this location. Thank you for the great customer service and awesome massage!
Had a massage and facial and they were both great. I love getting a longer massage but time did not allow as I called only two days before to book them. The receptionist gave me several options to get the aesthetician and massage therapist I wanted on the day that worked for me. Great products and great service all around. Areas of concern addressed well by both ladies! Thank you so much!
I can not even begin to explain how AMAZING Beverly is! She listened to everything I told her. She applied the perfect amount of pressure during my massage in all the areas I was having trouble with. She worked each side evenly and when she was done with our session, I felt like a million bucks! Truly a VERY good therapist and I highly recommend everyone to see her! Thank you Beverly!
We come to hand and stone (and have a membership) because overall we like their massages and it’s conveniently located by us. I rate it low because it can be so hard to get through to the front desk to make an appointment. When I finally get through to someone, I’m on the phone for forever with them just trying to quickly book two massages. Checking out is always a process as well.
I have been going to Hand and Stone in Paradise Valley for 5 years. The facials with Misty are wonderful. She gives good advice and doesn't pressure you to buy each time (or any time). Andrea is my go to person for massage. She listens to my concerns and does a fantastic job. The staff is efficient and the atmosphere relaxing and CLEAN. They always know my name and are very kind.
I was visiting from Colorado on a work trip and I was super happy with my service. Booked same day with quite a few options for a deep tissue with a female therapist. My conversation with the manager before my service was super delightful and the massage Jennifer gave me is one of the best deep tissue sessions I've had. And I've seen a LOT of different therapists. A1
I LOVE Hand and Stone! I have been a member for over 5 years and have NEVER had a bad experience. The owners, John and Jill, go out of their way to make you feel welcome and every therapist is exceptionally good. I have significant issues with my lower back and I LOVE the deep tissue, always feel like a new person when I leave!! Thank you, Hand and Stone!
I have been coming to Hand and Stone for over 8 years. Anne Marie is the best massage therapist I have ever been to. She does a steady, firm pressure and knows what areas of tension that need attention. While getting a massage I went into an asthma attack and she helped me get through it with eucalyptus oil and steam. Her care and expertise is unmatched!
We were in town, visiting Phoenix for a wedding and staying at the Embassy Suites just down the road. Front desk recommended Hand and Stone and boy are we glad they did! It was a wonderful way to start our day with a relaxing massage. The staff and therapists are very professional and friendly. I highly recommend going here for treatments.
The PV location is spot on. Great services and qualified personal all around. I like my therapist and the management here. Very welcoming and calm. Kathy did wonders on my hip areas. I really enjoyed my massage and it is for health reasons that I het to it regularly. It helps a lot and keeps me flexible without my knots in every muscle.
I have been coming to Hand & Stone for about a year and have found them to be very professional and accommodating! Once you walk through the doors the scent starts your relaxing experience! The massage therapists are so informative about how to leave you feeling relaxed and ready to face the world! I would highly recommend a visit!
I started visiting them in May of last year & they’ve literally transformed my skin over the past couple of months! I love the benefits members receive, and their communication is top notch. My past two appointments were cancelled for understandable reasons, and they offered me a free facial upgrade during my next facial.
All the massage therapists at this location are wonderful and the front desk always sweet. I have seen Jaime for a long time and he has always been lovely and responsive. Recently saw Keith for first time and was so impressed. If you do yoga and find it beneficial to breathe through a pose, his style was like this to me.
Hate to share a great message therapist (because she will probably get too busy) but I must give a shout out to Beverly, who is so talented. She listened to my specific needs and developed a massage perfectly suited for my problems. I highly recommend Hand & Stone based on really top quality massage therapists like her.
I really love this location. Nancy did an excellent job. I had a horrible knot in my back and had to do an extended session with her, and she got it right out. She knows exactly what she’s doing and she’s pretty amazing. The staff at this location are very nice people and very accommodating. Highly recommended!
The massage therapists at Hand and Stone Paradise Valley have all been good. They each have their own distinctive style, and at the beginning of each massage I'm always asked if I have any special requests (back, neck, etc.). I feel like I'm well taken care of, and I always feel so relaxed at the end.
Had a facial with Misty. Can't wait to go back. She did a great job and made me feel very comfortable. Room was nice and clean. Receptionists were terrific. Ashley and Jill make you feel so comfortable. This was my first time there and they made it seem like I had been going for there a long time.
I looked for a great place for a massage for years but not as much as the QB from the Browns. I can't see myself ever have to find another one becasue this is the BEST. I won't mantion my therapist's name becasue I don't want them/he/she to be too busy to get an appointment!!! H&S is the BEST!!!
I received a gift certificate from my Uncle and my mom for my birthday. I went to Michelle and she was wonderful! I want to keep her as long as I can. I also really enjoyed the ladies at the front. They were so warm, professional and inviting. It was a great experience all together. …
Scheduled a massage and facial with my mom for a spa day. 3.5 hours before our appointment I got a call that my massage therapist wouldn't be in and they had no one to replace them. I was initially very frustrated, but the manager offered to cover our facials for the day which was appreciated.
My first time visiting this location and I’m in love with everything there. I recently switched my primary location and it was made seem less from this location. Staff were very friendly and helpful! I got my eyebrows waxed and a very relaxed hour massage. I slept through the whole thing lol
Enjoy getting massages and Hand & Stone. Professional, courteous, and very clean. Enjoy the variety of massages available and have never had a bad experience. They are busy, so I often have to call early to get an appointment. Would recommend to my friends as a great place to get a massage.
Jaime was my therapist today and that has been the best massage I've had here, I've been a member for several months. I'm definitely booking with him again. The front staff is not the most pleasant specially over the phone but it seems like many people mention that on the reviews.
Staff is friendly and always willing to help make the experience even better. Everyone is professional and the therapists are great. Talking to your therapist before the massage will ensure you get exactly what you want and all your sore points addressed. I will certainly return!
Me and my friend were visiting and found this place. The ladies that did the scheduling were very knowledgeable and friendly. I was a little disappointed with the person who gave me the massage. He didn’t go over any extra’s that could be added on. Besides that he did a good job!
I booked a facial and peel with Kasey and had an amazing experience !! Kasey is very knowledgeable and explained everything she was doing as well as providing great recommendations for my skin goals. I’m coming back monthly due to her excellent customer service ! Thanks Kasey !
Have been going to Hand & Stone for 8 years. This is a great business model and the therapists are very skilled and professional. I love how clean they always are, the heating pad option on the beds (love it). This is my go to place when I get achy. I recommend them highly.
The staff at Hand & Stone are extremely friendly and comforting. Esthetician Stephanie did a great job in suggesting the right treatment for my acne prone skin. I could see visible results from very first service. She also handed off few samples. Great services.
Anne Marie is the best massage therapist I’ve ever had work on me. After every visit I feel like a completely new person that has been transported through a rip in space and time only to emerge into a wonderfully better version of my body. 5 gold stars and A++
I love the massages that Anne Marie provides. She knows how to work the troubled areas and answers any questions or concerns I have regarding my massages. On another note, the front desk personnel have always been friendly and courteous on my visits.
Love this location!!! Sage has been my go-to for amazing facials. I feel like she's helped me keep my skin looking fresh and more youthful. She always has great tips and she remembers my preferences. She really makes the experience topnotch for me.
My first time to this location and my massage therapist my was truly the best ive had in a long time. She really got in there and worked on those knots. Being a hair stylist it takes a toll on the body so she knew exactly what to do. Ill be back!
i have having hand and stone apart of my daily wellness routines! i’m a aesthetician myself, so I take pride in being able to take care of my skin and myself. i definitely recommend singing up, i’ve been a member sense i was 23 and i’m 27 now!
I was ever so lucky to get Bobby to work on me today! I have a laborious job that really worked me hard this weekend. Woke up with a lot of pain this morning. Bobby was extremely professional and detail orientated. I highly reccomend her if
Would have given then less if I could... they confirmed appointment almost 2 hours in advance and then 45 minutes prior to my appointment they text me to say that the therapist was running late and asked me to come in 15 minutes later. The
I have been a regular customer at this location. Recently this location hired rude receptionists and even managers who did not know how to find customer accounts, how to handle transactions, and rejected bookings citing policies they said
I get regular facials at this location and my last visit with Haneen was phenomenal. My skin felt hydrated, lifted, and like it could breath again. The facial massage was incredible, I’m looking forward to my future appointments with her.
First time at Hand and Stone and STEPHANIE is amazing! She had so many different techniques and really helped knead out my trouble areas. She also pin pointed areas herself that I need to work on and gave me advice to go home with. Also,
The employee at the desk, Ms Georgia, was incredibly rude following our massages. When asked “how much would you like to tip” I told her 12%. Her actions told me that it wasn’t good enough when she placed tip percentage chart in front of
Had a hot stone massage at the Lone Mountain location by Nikki Lyn (sp?) that was so relaxing I might have fallen asleep. Nikki was great, very professional, communicative but didn’t talk too much which I appreciated. Brittany, at front
From the moment you walk into the door you get an instant Zen vibe. I go in for different concerns depending on the day and each therapist has done an amazing job and catering to my needs...it's so nice to take some me time and they are
This is my 5th or 6th attempt to contact someone about the issue I am experiencing with my membership. You've waited so long to get back to me that my card was charged a second time (December), after I tried to cancel the first time in
Every time I’ve been to this location, I’ve had a great massage. Yesterday I had one with Anne Marie, and she was exceptionally great. She knows a lot about the body, and ways to release tension and knots. Very happy and will be back!
Just had the best FACIAL of my life with HOMA. She is a treasure of experience and advice. In a world of under-qualified providers everywhere, she is the bright exception. No B.S. , only common sense advice for my skin. …
Just had a facial with Vi. Great experience and the results are amazing. My skin looks and feels great! I also had her do my neck and decolletage. Same wonderful result. I am very pleased and can't wait for my next appointment
I have been at this location for years. The staff is friendly and professional. The facility is always well kept. Georgia is truly wonderful and gives the most incredible massages. I always leave relaxed and restored.
Had a facial, collagen and red light treatment with Saydia and it was amazing! She knew exactly what my skin needed to look young and fresh. I didn't even wear make up the rest of the day because it looked so good.
Jaime Did an amazing structural/chiropractic style massage for my sacrum and hip pain. He has many years of experience and it showed during the session. Very grateful for helping me deal with my chronic issues.
This was my first time at H & S. My masseuse was Anne Marie. She has lots of experience and loves what she does. Very friendly and excellent work. I will request her on my next massage. Highly recommended. Gary
My friend and I had an awesome experience with this location. We had amazing massages by Violet and Shannon. The CBD is a favorite for complete relaxation. I loved the enhancement foot scrub and hot towel.
I have been a member for many years and still love everything about this place! Just had one of the best massages ever!! the quality of service just seems to keep getting better! thank you hand and stone!!
I very much look forward to my appointments for a massage at Hand and Stone. I meet with the best therapist and am in heaven for 90 minutes! It is a fabuous oasis in a crazy world. Can't live without it!
New manager—what a difference he has made in the whole salon—he has created so much more welcoming atmosphere Fabulous snd outstanding massage with Keren and fabulous and outstanding facial with Lexia
Great place to relaxfriendly people and organized! Duna the manager is a very nice person she is able to give the best help. And my therapist Jody is doing a really good job …
Book your appointment with Jokssan! She made me feel comfortable . She went the extra mile to ensure I had the best experience possible! I have now become a member all thanks to her!
Holly was great! She adjusted the pressure where needed and made sure to work extra hard on the areas that were really bothering me. I have never had a bad massage or facial at H&S.
Great service provided by Saydia! She got me in quick, took her time during my facial and made great recommendations for aftercare. Definitely will be coming back! 5 stars!
Keith did absolutely amazing! Instantly feeling better. My back hurt so much that I had a hard time getting on the table. Here I am in the lobby, now, and feel amazing!!
This location is really nice, My last massage therapist wasn’t great, felt basic. To fix that I scheduled with another masseuse that I had before and she was wonderful.
