HEB has gotten too big for their own good. Customer service used to be amazing. The last few years everything has gone downhill. The curbside began as a great addition but lately I've gotten bad quality products or just the wrong ones. Now the last exchange just was the last straw and I've decided not to buy there again. I know they won't care but it's a matter of principle. A few months ago I got the HEB Debit Card. I tried several times to link it to my bank as they requested with no success. I called and emailed customer service and it was a disaster. I finally decided to cancel the account. First they told me I had to go in person. I went and they gave me 2 options to give me MY money back. Either a card or something like that to spend there, but it will charge me a fee () or give me a check to deposit in my bank. I took the check. For personal reasons I couldn't deposit the check for a while, and when I was finally able to do it it was expired. I went today to ask them to issue a new one and they refused. The check was issued by a third party so I needed to ask the third party to issue the check. The lack of empathy and will to help me shocked me. I called the third party and it was another nightmare. After choosing several options in the menu I was finally able to talk to a human who was even worse than the personnel at HEB. She wanted the card number and I explained I cancelled that account and didn't have that number, and kept repeating like a robot "need number, need number, need number". After 6 or 7 times of that crazy exchange she changed the message and asked me for other info and finally registered my request. Now, if I ever going to get that check again is anybody's guess. I've been a customer of HEB for more than 20 years and I'm so disappointed with how their customer service has been going downhill.

I've always really enjoyed ordering delivery from HEB. My husband and work pretty erratic schedules so actually getting to the store is difficult. Up until very recently the delivery has consistently been great.... however the last 2 orders have been missing items. Both occasions I've called the store and both occasions they agreed to re- deliver the missing items. However the most recent incident is particularly ridiculous. Delivery arrived Friday evening while my husband was home. I was away for work all weekend mind you. I arrive home today to see items again missing. I called to inform the store and was informed by AJ in the curbside departmentthat i really should've called Friday instead. Again.... out of town for work all weekend. I'm not sure how calling Friday versus today could've changed the fact that they have my money and i don't have my products. Anyway... he agreed to a re delivery. Delivery just showed up and is wrong again!!!!! Three times in a row? What's going on there? ..The inconsistencies and failure to provide me with what I paid for then trying to shift the blame to me after they missed items twice in a row are too big a headache. Randalls delivery is right across the street. Very disappointed with the downhill direction of this location.

Been going to this HEB, along with several others in the North Austin area, for 4+ years now. We’ve NEVER had a problem using self check-out with more than 10 items until today, and we see people having more than 10 items all the time. We went through the self check-out with maybe 20 items today. It was completely empty (no one else was there but us), and a female employee told us we couldn’t use this area. As we were walking away, my boyfriend looks back and sees this employee coming out of the area to watch us. We went to the self check-out on the other side of the store to see if they would say the same thing (they didn’t!), but we overheard the employee telling these other employees on the walkie talkie to look out for us. We’ve done nothing suspicious except try to pay for our groceries! I very much feel like she was targetting or racially profiling us. I’d understand if the area was busy, but it was completely empty and to also watch us as we walked away made me feel very uncomfortable. Update (8/21): Changing this to 3 stars. Billy, the store manager, reached out via email to clarify that employees can and should bend the 10 or less policy, especially when the area is empty. Thank you, Billy!

This review is specifically for the delivery service. We've gotten our groceries delivered from HEB since they started doing deliveries. At first, it was great, especially during the height of the pandemic. But within the past year or so, we've been consistently disappointed. The produce we get is often overripe, bruised, and/or wilting. Sometimes they even have mold on them the same or the next day. The meat products that we receive are often on or a day before their best by/freeze date. We've also gotten chicken that had clearly gone bad. We've also gotten dried goods that were months, sometimes a year past their expiration date. In addition to the poor quality, we regularly are charged for items that are not delivered. We've called and complained to customer service numerous times, and it's only gotten worse over the past year. The only reason I am giving two stars and not one, is because the groceries are always delivered on time, and the same-day delivery service is very convenient.

HEB was recently voted America's favorite grocery chain for good reason. Even though they are a regional corporation they offer much more than meats, produce, dairy, and other traditional grocery store items. On this particular outing I stuck with a typical list of items to restock my home fridge and pantry. During busy times this store uses a checkout system that looks intimidating at first but turns out to be very efficient. Everyone gets in one line that sometimes snakes thru out the store. An employee at the front of the main line directs each shopper to a specific cashier based on number of items and how many people are in each cashier line. The long line moves very quickly and people tend not to get too stressed about others cutting in front of them.

If you are paying by cash at self checkout, verify it gave you the right change. Today I paid for a $7.44 pizza using a $10 bill, at the self-checkout machine closest to the rightmost exit. (The one with the almost nonfunctional touch screen) It was supposed to give me 2.56 of change. Two quarters, a nickel, and a penny. but it left out one quarter. I triple-checked the coin change area to be sure. Its mechanisms for releasing coins are probably faulty, because the receipt said I should have gotten 2.56 in change. So if you are going to pay with cash, maybe avoid self-checkout, and if you use self-checkout anyway then double-check your change. Otherwise the store is a good HEB in my experience with friendly employees.

This is the only heb where the employees think it's appropriate to hound you within two minutes of the store closing. What makes you think I'm here just before 11pm for fun? Some of us get out of our other jobs really late and don't have time otherwise. It's really uncomfortable, they don't even ask if you need help I got told "ma'am I need you to make your way to the front because we just closed" when I wasnt done grabbing four items, and I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. This is the second time I was poked rudely right around closing, I don't give yall any trouble and I'm certainly not your last customer in the store so I don't appreciate you guys treating me like I'm taking my sweet time

We live across the street from HEB. This trash has been sitting out on the yard for more than 12 days. (I have photo documentation) After speaking with two HEB employees (in a couple of days) in attempts to have them notify their manager to clean up, nothing happened. This morning I decided to pickup the trash myself and post this issue in hopes HEB will respond. While employees are taking a smoking break at the recently constructed walk-through, they watched me picking up the trash and moved on inside the store. Incidentally, while picking up the trash, you have two irrigation leaks. So please fix the leaks, I’m not a plumber!

Came in today to get some last minute things before a trip around 8:30am 5/12/23. When ready to check out there was only 1 cashier and the line was really long. The only cashier with blonde in her hair looked to be Hispanic, fair skin was really rude. Didn’t even acknowledge me. Her manager decided to hop on a register after an older lady told her “i think you need another register”. The manager proceeded to tell us many people called in and that she was sorry. I think she needs to be more worried on what kind of ppl she hires. The girl was Definitely not customer friendly.

Bring your own bags to hold your groceries! If not every plastic bag is 30 cents each. Seems like a nice way to promote reusable bags. Big store comparable to woodlands, whole foods or Kroger/Pick save; in the type of products they store. They have groceries, fruits, vegetables, cleaning products, meats, bakery products and more. No electronic gagets like phones, displays etc. Store is huge and well layed out. We can generate barcodes for loose vegetables and fruits so that it can be scanned at the check out/billing area. Attached the store guide for whoever it helps.

Wasted money & space on terrible remodel. They really had a chance to classy up the place with food kiosks (whole foods), beer kiosk (Harris Teeter) make shopping enjoyable, sub sandwiches made fresh to order at deli (Publix) and hot breakfast bar ie. biscuit sammies & breakfast tacos. Instead trashed it up with dollar store & flea market in front of store at non dollar store prices! Like a casino now, you have to pass by their flea market of high grossing junk in front of store to shop. We could've had a beautiful Arboretum HEB :-(

About a week ago, I purchased the pre-made Rotisserie Chicken Salad and there was a glove in it, I contacted the corporate office and they passed me off to the local store, a manager(Bill) sent me an email, when I called the store he wasn’t there, (Debra) manager proceeds to tell me well Bill was handling that claim but let me transfer you to the deli manager(Braden) who was very nice but his solution was to replace the item….ARE YOU SERIOUS….So please be careful when purchasing there pre-made items.

Man it's crazy that I have shopped at this location for the last yr and have NEVER had a problem until today at self check out. Racial profiling is DISGUSTING AND SHOULDN'T BE ALLOWED TO HAPPEN. Instead of watching me with my black kids he should of been paying attention to the shoppers who actually needed help checking out. I spend over $4,000 a month here because we are a family of 8. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS

  • Patricia Ann Sutch

I am so happy to report that this H-E-B was almost fully stocked in meats, dairy and frozen foods. No, still no toilet paper. However, "most" shoppers baskets did not appear to have panic stock piling items in it. The store was full of many helpful staff stocking and answering questions. The check out line was maybe a 2 minute weight due to a high volume of cashiers! I've been saying it for YEARS, I love HEB!

I guess I should have known from the smell when I walked in. I bought some St. Louis spareribs and took them straight home. When I opened the package I knew immediately from the rank smell they were unfit for consumption. After a lengthy wait in the service line I was able to get a store credit. This store is well below HEB'S hard-earned reputation, and forces me to rethink my overall opinion of the chain.

BEEN GOING TO THIS HEB FOR 15 YEARS. Most inconsistent HEB ever since the change. Bad inventory control. The HEB tortillas in the bakery hardly ever have the variety that the others offer. Produce section had gone down. Bread isle is never stocked properly. Lots of other issues. Never any tortillas. All these people here talking to each other and on their phones. Not one person in the bakery. Ridiculous!!!

  • Robyn Henley

I used to go the this HEB as my default grocer, but after the remodel a lot of my regular weekly items they no longer carry. I spoke to an employee during the remodel and he mentioned they got rid of a lot of stuff. It's baffling that after expanding I can't buy what I used to. I haven't been shopping there regularly since and it's really messed up my routine.

  • Brad Arndt

I love the newly remodeled HEB, especially since I have found my way around. My only complaint is the cold beer isle. Most all stores that carry cold alcoholic beverages have larger coolers and load from the rear. Its inconvenient for the customers and employee to shop at the same time and selection is poor and constantly out of stock of popular drinks.

  • Micky Martinez

The past month I’ve done curbside twice and Both times I was given produce thats expired!! Super annoyed because I love H‑E‑B and want to utilize curbside in the future but this isn’t a pattern I want to reinforce. Not to mention it’s a major bummer that when I finally do buy groceries I feel like my money’s wasted buying expired produce.

  • GASPAR PEREZ

I like this H.E.B haven't been here in years but since it's so close to a project we have I stop by most mornings to get my lunch meat bread and veggies for my afternoon lunch breaks I have also been stopping by to pick up some dia de los Muertos merchandise for my collection and a few items for my wife ..

  • Melissa Conant

Whatever you do, do not buy a pre-loaded card as a gift! I loaded a card for my son with $150, he has $60 to use because of fees. Fees that are NOT disclosed. They also want you to provide all your personal information to activate it. Complete scam. When you call, they just put you on hold.

  • Cagney McCauley

Excellent grocery store. I normally don't review stores like this, but I had a great customer service experience with Rachel at the deli counter. She provided 5 star service while dealing with a sensitive situation involving another customer. Just wanted to provide a shout-out.

  • Jesus Chavez

Needed a few more items and stopped by this HEB great bakery like the other ones i picked up a pie and few other thing nice to have them near by. Super excited to have HEB near by Still think HEB is best place for groceries and other products. …

  • Kate Sherwood

Hey H‑E‑B North Hills - I know you expanded & bike riders don’t buy as much — but the construction is done now, so…when will the bike racks come back? I would have bought more, had I not had to walk this ol’ jalopy into the store to shop…

  • P S

After the reconstruction of this HEB location - it was just so much better, roomier, more organized and more clean. I was amazed by the upgrades on both this newer look here and in the parmer/mopac HEB location also!

  • K

2 of the Vanilla Oatmeal milks that I purchased were bad, but marked as not expired till next year. I got sick because I drank a big swig to realize it. The younger staff here is extremely disrespectful.

  • Panos Baroudjian

We order grocery deliveries from this H‑E‑B every week. For the past year most of them have had issues: missing or wrong items (sometimes entire bags), rotten produce, long expired stuff, you name it.

  • Jon Panaro

One of my worst ever trips to any HEB today. Produce was empty. No fresh tortillas. Water pallets still had wrap making it difficult to get water. Probably will not return to this location.

  • Desiree' Nichols

I was getting groceries for my son in his 1st apartment and and reusable bags for $2.50 each. Nice clean place they were doing lots of business.Great customer service and awesome selection.

  • blair metz

What an incredible grocery store!! Selection is beyond compare, fresh produce, prepared cheese, meat, veggie trays, beer - even really hard to find ones. Really enjoyed my first visit.

  • Laurel Morris

Love my HEB. But they seriously need to get Apple Pay! Only rating one star in hopes of this getting noticed. Huge profit losses here. Ignore the sunk cost of your current machines.

  • N. Erwin

This H‑E‑B is a bit small compared to other ones near by. This is the closest one to my house and I shop here often, but if I have a lot of shopping to do I go to a bigger one.

  • Moonlight

My preferred store ever, I always find everything I want there, a lot of products and brands, I always shop from there . They have nice cashiers and a hug parking space. …

  • Ellie Sllk

This is one of my favorite HEB. The store is always nice and clean. Freshly packed with fruit and vegetables .The meat always look fresh & the employees are very friendly.

  • Josh C. Suermeli

Good variety of food. Some products are more expensive than other comparable supermarkets, but they occasionally have some discounted items for a reasonable price too.

  • Sylvester Bass

Easy prosess of the front end from check out to cash service all way had a great experience. The price of goods is responsible and the service is on point....

  • Adam Nieves

I hate leaving bad reviews, but when it comes to customer service, there really isn’t any here. Especially when it comes to:

  • Tina Dean

The store is fantastic so is the help, but their in a system of ......, that favors an dis favors an profiles slanderously

  • Robert Snyder

I love HEB and this store is one of my favorites! Newly remodeled, it's spacious and well stocked. Keep up the good work!

  • Roz D.M.

HEB is a premier supermarket of Texas. Everyone I've shopped has been a pleasure. I love HEB. Thanks again HEB!

  • Courtney Johnson

Becky has been working at H‑E‑B for 20 plus years and she is the best employee there! ❤️ Thank you Becky !

  • Juan Espinoza

I noticed unfair treatment towards employees by the manager named Wendy and it didn’t set right with me.

  • Rick McMaster

The renovated store is wonderful, wide aisles, bright, expanded selection, and the staff is great.

  • Scott Hicks

Always favorite place to grocery shop. Clean, usually stocked. HEB brand is usually really good.

  • Chris Boyles

Just got home from HEB and noticed a $13 Mother's Day card I paid for didn't make it in my bag.

  • Chris McKinney

Nice selection of groceries. Bring your own bags or buy their's for 30 cents each.

  • Stacy Leanne

This store is the best. Clean store, friendly staff, and not overcrowded.

  • James Richard kimo Soper

Not enough choice for organic staples but way better than it used to be

  • Barry Harris

Giant store. Always consistently good with friendly, helpful staff.
