"Hi"
"Great school"
Sorry if I miss spell things or forget to type in certain words. It's currently 10:00 pm as I write this and I'm too lazy to fully look back at this and catch these things. Okay, so where do I start. First of all, the school was rushed. And I mean very rushed. The school was WAY behind the planned opening of the school. So a lot of the grass placed outside was done in winter. So when it warmed up enough for us to see the grass. It looked like a mudslide ran straight through the fields. Because the roots didn't grow into the dirt, it didn't anchor itself so they moved around when kids ran on top of them. Also, the inside of the school was lazily done. The trim in the gymnasium was plastic (which isn't bad) and was screwed into the wall with the screws being VERY visible. Now in the main parts of the school. The wood used on the walls had spaces between them with some kind of black fabric behind it. The fabric was overlapping each other and held on the walls with screws. Both of the details are quite easy to see. Jumping back to the gymnasium. Some of the walls had wood panels and still possessed the holes of the finishing nails. The top of the main stairwell had a piece of metal that covered the gap between the wood stairs and the rest of the floor. That piece of metal always kept getting ripped off and falling into the gap. Fortunately the metal was replaced with a larger piece so it doesn't break off as easily. These were all things I noticed on the first day they moved the students in. I feel like the aesthetics would have look somewhat decent if they hadn't been rushed. The teachers and staff in the school are in my opinion are okay and I don't have a lot to say about them. I feel like most of them have a short temper. So when the littlest of things that happen they just yell and rant. Other than that, most of them can be pretty nice. I don't know why, but the school buys the most useless things for some reason. I remember having to pay 10 dollars for some stress activities day. Which was said to be mandatory. A couple days later, two brand new displays. One on the main floor and one on the second floor. And what were they used for you may ask. Well, showing pictures of the most recent field trips. The same 13 pictures being shown 30 seconds apart. I don't know why the bought them and I would believe they regretted the decision to purchase them. Now some good things about the school. They are a lot of interesting places off campus we can go to if we wanted to at lunch break. There is also a 7-eleven, Domino's pizza, Waves (Coffee Shop), Cacao 70, and Veit Hai. So there are a lot of options. This is my review of Griffith Woods School. Thanks for taking your time to read this.
I am currently a student at this school and I am not happy with the teaching program. I came here from AE Cross hoping that this would be a better system but I was so wrong. I had a broken broom stick once and I was on my way to throw it in the garbage can outside the class in the hall and I was then yelled at for carrying a weapon by a teacher. The teachers have yelled at us constantly for not doing something correctly and I have personally been yelled at for not sitting down in gym and I went to the office for that. I have been put in community service for running in the hall and I have had to hand in my phone in every morning to the office for having tin my pocket. Also for half the year the very small boys bathroom had no lock on the stall so it was unusable. Also the teachers are very one sided to genders. For example when a boys asked to do something the teacher is quick respond no but when a girl asked the some question the respond quickly with a yes. The teaching in the school is terrible half the time they give you an assignment to do for homework that you didn't even learn about in class. There are no finals and much more I have to say about this school!
After reading some of the recent reviews (all submitted around the same time - interesting), I felt compelled to add my own two cents about my kids' experiences at this school. I have one child in grade 3 and one in grade 6. Firstly, they love the school itself. A ton of windows, big beautiful classrooms, beautiful gym. Lockers for the grade 6s. Secondly, they adore (not exaggerating) their teachers. They are fully committed wonderful professionals who foster an environment for learning and discovery. We have excellent communication with the teachers. My oldest is in band and we are incredibly impressed with the band teacher and his passion for developing young musicians! Honestly, we are very impressed with the school and staff and have found our kids' experiences to be the exact opposite of these negative reviews.
Hi. After reading all these negative reviews! I thought to myself i have 2 kids that attend these school and they LOVE IT . I think people today are just spoiled and selfish and just think everything in life should be perfect ! Well what more do people want its a new beautiful!Clean school Safe for all of our children great teachers that care about the children they teach! I think its selfish of people to write negative reviews when we are all so fortunate to have our children in a school that is newer and safer and has high education standards! All of the negative reviews on here i dont believe that there true in anyway! People should educate them selfs before writing there reviews! Thank u
Great school. Safe, modern, teachers are well-involved. So far in the early grades the teachers have been very good. It's a new school so I think there were first-year growing pains, and certain assets like musical equipment or tech items etc tend to take a couple years to accumulate (i.e. a good school will always be adding stuff, so a brand new school will be a bit light in the first year) but it seems to be running fairly well as people have found their groove/routine.
This is the worst school ever there is glue everywhere in the art room and the art teacher is biased and is unfair to students in fact this same teacher named ms. Quinn made a student to change the review into a positive one although we have right to do this.
Good school. Very inclusive. Good teachers overall. Great resources. To the whiny students who don’t like the school: Cope. This is probably one of the best public junior high schools in Calgary.
Bad education, racist, and rude teachers. Would not recommend. If you care about your kids, don't put your kids here.
Amazing new school with caring teachers.
Excellent teachers who really care!
Mean teachers some are nice though
me and friend like
The worst school.
