Went to this restaurant around 7pm in the evening. There was the manager whom was female and middle aged. It was 8 of us we reserved to go into the restaurant and as soon as we got in we had a table barely for 8. They had placed two chairs squished against the bar for my parents to sit in which was highly uncomfortable and when we asked to make more room she said "we are a small restaurant" and looked at us in despair and talking very loudly at us. My sister raised a point to tell her to lower her tone and we have not even sat down! From there we repeated again my parents were able to sit uncomfortably in the corner of the table and then eventually the lady agreed to move the table to make room. From there our mood was spoilt and we just sat down and started to order drinks which she had done so. She bought out the drinks and then I had a pint of coke however requested it without ice when she was giving it to me and again she looked at me in despair and went back to the little bar and started speaking in her own language which I think is Cantonese to her male colleague who was around 25-30 ish of age. We ordered our starter and she said "If you waste any food you will be charged" which made us slightly uncomfortable so we decided to order in little portions at a time. When the lady bought out so called clean plates there was a long black hair in my brothers plate which seemed to be beard hair or something similar which my brother does not have long facial hair so it was not his and when my brother complained the lady got really defensive and said well its not ours and accused him of placing a hair in the plate! From there she took the plate away and replaced it. <<< see picture Once the starters came out the food was too sweet and to say pretty average again with no manners when she bought it out pushing past myself to put the plates on the table without not even an "Excuse me". The duck was hard and dry and the lamb was horrible. She bought out satay sauce with chicken with the sauce in a bowl of oil as you can see from the pictures. <<<<<< Also the prawns they do not clean out at all. The lady kept on repeating to us if there is any wastage then we will be charged. We then got to dessert. Oh yes the best part of the meal personally and we wanted to order the banana fritters and she then said the Chef's are too busy and they said it will take 45 minutes to bring out the fritters I was very angry with this as this is not how you run a restaurant. Its not the hardest dessert to make and it seemed as though she could not be bothered getting the chefs to do dessert as she had a part of 18 people to serve and deemed them more important. After we left she had bought out our jackets and then during the process just threw a jacket on me assuming it was me however it was not even my jacket! I then looked at her showing my anger and she didn't even apologise or even to take the jacket off me. So overall the food was average and the customer service was hands down the worst customer service I have ever had! I will never be returning to this restaurant and hope this review has given you some insight before you approach.

I normally do not leave reviews, but as for this, I am compelled to do so. New in the area and based on the images on the website of the food and other reviews, I made my order. probably the worst chinese I have ever had, I'm not sure if this was a bad day for them, however it was almost like everything I ordered was left overs from last week. the salt and pepper ribs may as well of been 1 small dehydrated rib cut up and put in a small container, virtually nothing but dry small bones with the odd meat on it and not even enough to feed a child yet alone an adult. the prawns dish was so bad that I could not eat it as was so stable and hard. Basically I will never eat from here again. £50 worth of order just down the drain. The search continues for my new local chines.. anyone with recommendations let me know.

Once again i consumed mouth watering food from this fine establishment. I found the honey chicken popcorn to be probably one of the best things on the menu along with any of the chefs specialities. The chicken and the beef wasn’t very filling which i prefer as i can consume large amounts of the heavenly food made by the gods. It’s also a really good value for the amount you get and xin is employee of the month i believe so. Also to top the my meal off i consumed a chicken soup which did the job it filled me up . I will always get food from here now it’s the best. golden inn is the thing that makes me not hungryyyy golden inn is the thing that makes me hor-hungryyyy is so yummy in my tummy. 11/10 best ever from lewisa

I actually love their food. The popcorn chicken is so good I have dreams about it, the food is always flavourful . Its super expensive, which I hate, but they also do a buffet for 25 pounds, which I love because they cook the food fresh in manageable portions so there's no waste. I definitely recommend the buffet often. They're pretty nice in-house, and even though it's hurts my wallet, I'll always be a repeat customer

Phoned on Wednesday at 2155, according to menu open till 2230. I phoned to place a order for delivery and once i said delivery they said they couldn't hear me and hung up. So i phoned them back and said i would like to place a order for delivery, i was told in no uncertain terms we're closed, i said its 2200 and on your menu it says you close at 2230 on a Wednesday, no were closed thats it and they hung up again. Make your own mind up weather to order from them or leave your phone number with them so they can phone you and tell you when to order at what and when to collect. I have never been treated like this by any establishment in the last 30 years. .

Great value for family gatherings with eat as much as you want for a fixed price. Remember you are paying a fixed price, so you get good wholesome food to match the price paid with matching levels of service. We have been here a number of times for family birthdays & cannot fault anything about this restaurant, other than the chairs which several of us have struggled with as they caused back aches, but we will still probably be going again at some point.

Been here multiple times. The all-you-can-eat option is great value for money. The portion sizes are reasonable, and the food we have had has always been tasty! The pace of service is good, the staff are friendly and I would highly recommend visiting here!

They were very accommodating with our baby. Unfortunately no baby changing facilities.

We had a take away last night, the food was delivered on time.But I ordered 3 dishes, one of them was house special sea food Ho fun. It was very bland and not cooked properly. The squid and scallops were very hard to eat. Not like it was described in the menu. Paid £10 just for 1 dish. Also the container was leaking when it was delivered. Not worth the price. The mushroom & king prawns dish also was not up to standard. Not very happy.

Came here to try as not many great Chinese restaurants around a pity that didn’t even get to try the food as sat down with the menu ordered a drink all was great meaning looked good we went to order the all you can eat buffet to be told that my 2 10 year olds couldn’t have a childrens menu as they were over 120cm!!! THEY ARE 10 AND CHILDREN!!!! They even have a measuring height chart. When confronted with this they rather our party leave than take the £100 we were about to spend!! DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!

Only problem is they charge £18.60 for a child who is 120 cm and £9 for under 120cm This is sizeism as my daughter is only 6 but tall for her age.. how on gods earth would she eat up to £18.60 worth of food. So a child who is 8 but small for age can eat for £9 but my daughter has to pay £18.60 Never heard of price being based on height Absolutely ridiculous.

So disapointed after having great meals in the restraunt. We just had a take away and it was well below par. The kung po prawn dish was so hot I thought I would have to go to Mayday. That was the dish I was most looking forward to after having it in house. There was no plum sauce with the duck. The special starters was a discrace. So disapointed

Reason for 1 star - can't put zero star. Food is unseasoned and is as bland as stale bread. Don't waste your money. Sesame toast soaked in oil and was obviously out for a while. Most went in the bin (dog refused it) I just hope I don't have bad stomach tonight. Yuk.

Had a meal for 8 people, there. Quiet place. Feels atmospheric place, with paintings, Chinese lanterns. Friendly staff. Good quality food, price is ok. We booked for 8pm, one evening; we were the only group there. Thanks.

Currently waiting 2.15 hours for food that was promised 1 hour- been told three times he is on his way and will be 5 mins now saying it is a 20 minute journey from Shirley to Addiscombe!!!! No idea what the food is like but will never order from them again . Don’t take the order if you are over busy and then lie !

Ribs were more fat than meat, I clearly told the waiter I have a shrimp allergy, yet my food had shrimp. The service was non existent and just plain rude when I stated my dish contained something I didn't ask for. Then to top things off they added service charges. I'm not impressed nor will I return

Absolutely do NOT USE the delivery service. Called and was told an hour and a half. Nearly two hours later, called and was informed 'meal was in progress' Absolutely disgusted. Please tell the truth. If its going to take 2 hours plus inform customer. I don't even warrant the one star minus 4 yes!

Over priced, missed too many dishes i got one lamb dish rather than the three we ordered furthermore 75.90 for something that the portions weren't even big portions. I would never ever go back to this place because they are con artist and its not a buffet like you normally get its a rip off.

Ok so based on reading the reviews. It would seen that it's best to eat in the restaurant than to order for delivery as it would seem they send u different food for delivery. So I plan to secretly go to the restaurant and I will give feedback if this is true or not

Absolutely appalling service. Was told 60 mins for delivery and still waiting 90 mins later. Whoever answers the phone needs full training on customer service, because she has none. So rude and doesn't care.

Very disappointed! Firstly online menu is completely wrong. Food was cold and fried tofu inedible. Price online was £19.50 however was charged £21.50. Hardly any food for the price and tasted the same. I'll stick to our usual Indian restaurant from now on.

Nice food everytime! cooked fresh and brought over to you, great portions sizes, service is nice and fast aswell.

Very friendly and helpful service, great value for money. Food was amazing, we had a variety of dishes for 4 people, all delicious, and the youngest absolutely loved the honey popcorn chicken. Will definitely be coming back, highly recommend.

First time I ordered a Chinese since moving to the area and I am so glad that I chose the golden inn! It's been such a long time since I have eaten such tasty dishes. Absolutely no complaints here, plus food turned up hot!

Have been going here for just over 3 years and find it to be consistently good, tasty food. Best Chinese I have found in this area! Small and unpretentious but always satisfying and leaves you planning your next trip.
