They left me without a truck on moving day. Poor customer service and communication. I was moving house and booked an extra large 2t van several weeks in advance. A week before my booking I received a call letting me know that the van I booked wasn’t going to be available, and I was offered a 4.5t light truck instead, at no extra charge. I was ok with this as it was only mildly inconvenient. The big problem came on moving day, when I showed up to the Epping Home centre and walked up to the line of gecko branded trucks and vans. I pulled open the app and tried to find the truck I had been assigned. After being unable to locate the truck, I called their helpline and was told that the truck hadn’t been returned by the previous hirer. They had not been able to contact the previous hirer either and had already been trying to reach them. After waiting some time they were still unable to contact the previous hirer and I asked about the other trucks or vans parked there. These were apparently already reserved for other customers and there were no other trucks or vans available Melbourne wide. I was offered to rebook for the following day, but I needed it today as that was the day I was moving! I asked to speak to a supervisor to see if there was any solution available, but they only offered to call me back on Monday as they don’t have any managers on weekends. I then had to cancel my booking. This left me stranded on moving day without a van with very limited time to find a replacement, I spent several hours phoning around and trying to book on various websites, but as it was already late morning on a Saturday and all car/truck hire places close at midday, this was near impossible. I ended up driving to different truck hire places to try my luck and eventually was able at the last minute to walk in and obtain a van from one of their mainstream competitors. Because of how late I had to book it I had to book it for overnight and pay extra. Now I understand that these things can happen, sometimes people don’t return their vehicles on time. But the least they could have done is called me in advance to tell me they were not able to service my booking. I shouldn’t have to find out after driving to Epping that in fact they don’t have a vehicle for me. Then I might have been able to secure an alternative first thing in the morning. They wasted my time and money and caused me a lot of stress and anxiety as I ran around trying to find a replacement vehicle. Especially when I booked this weeks in advance and had to pay upfront. Do not recommend at all.

I decided to book a van with this company as I needed (and now still need) to move some furniture. I arrived at the pick-up point in Epping and after walking around the parking lot I used the 'Find my Vehicle' option to see where this was. The van I had booked and paid for showed a location 25 minutes away, so I called the customer service team who told me that the person who had the van before me did not return it. I'd like to know why I was not notified of this or given another vehicle once the van was not dropped off before my pick up time. They then told me I could pick up another van an hour away, however on the time crunch I was already on, this was not going to work. I requested a refund and I have been told that I could be waiting a while for my money back, which I got nothing more than a headache from.

Absolutely horrible. Was moving houses and required a truck. Went to pick up the truck and we were told they didn't have a truck available because the one the had given us was suddenly broken down and they were unable to provide us with a new one. More frustrating that we arrived and weren't told this until we had gotten there for pick up. We then called 3 times and were put on hold for over 20-30minutes on each call, without a replacement vehicle being offered. And we had not yet recieved a refund for the horrible service. We were left on our own to organise another way to transport all of our furniture very last minute. Do NOT recommend!!!

MOST CONVENIENT VAN/TRUCK HIRE EVER!!! If you need a VAN or TRUCK for ANY purpose, check out here first, please do yourself a favour. I wish I knew about them earlier. We have saved hundreds this week rehiring the van for the whole week to get the house moved and just dropped it off. So convenient, didn't need to even see or meet anyone. Just either call or book and do everything thru the app, so easy and it guides you, and then return it, park, take some photos and lock it up, again with the App. Can't speak highly enough of this service and will be using them again next weekend for one last trip. Thanks again GO With The Gekco.

My mum and I where borrowing a van to move interstate. The pick up point was only half an hour away but it took about an hour to get there as the directions on the website were obscure and confusing. When we finally found it the van was wedged firmly between two hire trucks with about 10cm clearance on each side, luckily we are both under 60kg or we would have spent our day stuck between some vehicles. The van was also in very poor condition, with many chips, dents and a missing fuel cap. We finally unlocked the car only to find that there was no manual on the van, leaving us to figure out how to drive this bin on wheels.

Truck was excellent and clean with a full tank. Lots of hidden fees for renting though so be ready for the cost to increase over what you’re quoted. An “interstate” fee for travelling more than 50Km from the pick-up point is poorly worded given that I travelled from Melbourne to Bairnsdale and back and paid for the extra Kms already. I understand if you want to charge for travelling long distances but but don’t call it an interstate charge if you’re going to charge people who aren’t travelling interstate.

Check your booking details carefully! I booked over the phone and my pick up date was randomly changed without me being informed, so be careful. You also need to send photos of your drivers license. The app simply won't work if the company has not received the photos in advance of your rental. The instructions on your booking are incomplete. Apart from these issues it was a good truck to drive and fair value for money.

VERY EASY TO COLLECT AND USE VEHICLE. PRETTY GOOD VALUE! VEHICLE NEEDED A GOOD TUNE UP AND WHEEL ALIGNMENT THOUGH & INTERIOR NEEDED A GOOD DETAIL. DISAPPOINTED WE WEREN’T ABLE TO RENT FOR MORE DAYS AS REQUIRED. ORIGINALLY GOOGLED PRESTON PICK UP AS AVAILABLE BUT HAD TO TRAVEL TO EPPING WHICH ADDED TO EXTRA KM’s @ AN EXTRA CHARGE. GENERALLY NOT BAD THOUGH.

Great service. This was my second hire from gecko and the process was smooth. The vehicle mechanically sound. Only issue is the previous hirer didn't do the right thing and completely fill the van with fuel at the end of their hire. This happened to me last time too. That time was only half a tank. If they could fix that issue. I would give it 5 stars

Very disappointed Gecko! I emailed Gecko, a representative was able to match a competitors quote.Went to book in only to be told that promotional price has been revoked. Thanks to Hana for great customer service. Gecko, your internal processes need to be reviewed. Now off to another rental company that values it’s customers.

This was my first experience renting with this company. It's was FANTASTIC! You pick the truck when it suits YOU! The app guided you step by step. When I got stuck, help was just a phone away (through the app). The truck I hired was brand new which made the move a breeze. I certainly will use them again in the future.

Bit frustrating finding the Vehicle today but got there. Unlocking the Van was ment to be easier I believe than it was. Had call the help centre about that but was all good in the end. The drive was smooth with a lot of comfort's to suit the individual person asking for specifics.

Staff promise things they don't deliver and then contradict themselves later on down the track. They have no idea about border closures and no compassion for individual circumstances. Do not hire a truck if you wish to travel interstate.

Booked a truck to move furniture from Sydney to Melbourne. What a great experience! Simple to find and access the truck. It was clean and well maintained. Simple to drop off and finalise the hire at the other end. Highly recommended!!

Terrible customer service. They were not available to answer calls during their open hours. Finally when my calls went through I was put straight on to hold for 20 minutes. Due to this I’ve lost half an hour off my access to truck.

Do not go with this company they make you jump through hoops to hire the truck and then cancel it 2 days before you have to move house and offer no compensation and no reason why
