Serendipitous discovery while walking around, waiting for my windshield replacement. The lady working the desk was so charming and fun. Soul-southing, spirit-lifting community engagement. My first used book store. Wow, the things that have been discovered within them. The books, that is! A pleasant run-in with a former coworker. A nice discussion about 70’s rock, stemming from a man’s Marshall Tucker Band hat I was admiring. He travelled all over the southern US to see them various times, and highly recommends Savannah, Georgia as a travel destination. An enthusiastic book recommendation from one of the store’s regulars; 1 of 5 books she’s ever kept in her possession permanently: ’Numbered Account’ by Christopher Reich.

Great store! Really has that sorely missed book store feel. Very cramped for a dude my size, but the atmosphere was worth it. Had some seating and more books than I could shake a stick at, too, at frankly scarily low prices. Walked in and got 6 great books for 10 bucks. Didn't catch her name, but the woman who runs the store was obviously incredibly passionate. Asked about a book and she kindly offered to put me on a list in case it ever comes in. Great kids section, graphic novels, art books, Scandinavian mystery, westerns, a lot of great sections I need to explore. Have to get back soon as I make it through my new additions.

Cathy is so knowledgeable and kind. She has so many ideas for possible books based on what your interests are. She is so keen on customer service and goes above and beyond every time I see her. If she knows of a school that could benefit from your donation she will mention it and she supports the mini libraries that are in every community too! I highly recommend her especially if you're in the market for excellent quality used books and trading books too! I love her book store and do drive from North Transcona to visit it!

This is a great book store. It's old school. Also if you're below 13 do not bring anything electronic or she will take it away from you and give it to your parents. Then your parents will have saggy pants and be annoyed with you for the rest of the day. Manage to snag a lot of books I really need to pick up on the cheap, was happy with that. Also cash only, there's an ATM down the Street and you can catch some Pokemon on the way there if she hasn't taken your phone away. 10 out of two thumbs up would go again

In August, 2020x I emailed several second hand bookshops looking for a particular. I didn’t hear back from most of them and gave up as a lost cause. Well this March, the owner, Cathy called me to tel me that book had come in. Apparently she is very passionate about finding books for people. She has everything entered on this incredible document and remembers when people are looking for books, so can pull up their info when/if she comes across it. Just incredible service. Would give 10 stars if I could!

Will give you a fair trade for your books but really patronizing owner. Was talked down to and grilled with personal questions about my life plans and about not having a job amidst the COVID epidemic (LOL??). On my prior visit she did this too and I thought it was so strange. Am I trading books or is this a job interview? Is she my Dad?? It's absolutely none of her business and she needs to learn 1. politeness and tact and 2. boundaries because customers like me will never return again.

I have been coming here for years, and always get fair trade/purchase prices. I have been to other used book stores and have been looking for a place like this. Other places are very selective about what they take. At Globosapiens, the thought is if you read it, someone else will too. The owner is always friendly and there to chat, or to let you look at your leisure. Love this place, will always come back :)

An enriching used bookstore experience. Read some other negative reviews about the owner, I disagree; she is establishing a conversation which in all the public places to do so, a book store should be one to be the most inquisitive and should inquire about what inspires or interests you. Gave me some great recommendations at a great price! This book store is also very supportive to local authors.

  • josie madison

Amazingly amazing owner! She’s kind and doesn’t pressure anyone in buying certain books - she just lightly suggests them! She took in all my books and showed me around the store! Definitely switching to buying less at Chapters to buying here! Stop by here sometime if you love books and shop local :)

  • Vicki Rempel

A bright, very well-run used book store with a wide and deep range of topics. The owner is organized, personable and has travelled much. A world map decorated with mementos from shop visitors is on display. A great place to visit when searching for that hard-to-find volume or out-of-print edition.

  • Erdrick YWG

Cozy and friendly place with potentially that one book you've been looking for over the years tucked away in a corner. If they don't happen to have it, they can get it to you. Impressed with my first visit here. Will return once I've finished reading my books that I bought from there. …

  • Natasha Krcadinac

Wasn’t happy about the way I was treated by the owner.. was there with a friend and I was called ignorant because I’m not huge into reading... found some books I found interesting but I would never buy from such a rude person who talks down to customers she feels are not adequate..

  • Susanne Rivard

I love a good used bookstore however I find the trade in exchange confusing so don't bother trading anymore and sometimes I just want to browse without having to talk. There is a great selection though and if you are looking for something you can give a list and you will get it!

  • boyan liu

Always love it here. Tons of new books every time I come in and great deals on the ones I bring. Owner is fair and recommends books she has in stock I might like. The kids enjoy swapping out their books as well. I hope they stay around for a long time!

The owner is THE BEST!!! I have been going to her store since the very beginning and she always welcomes me and because she knows what I read, she ALWAYS puts them aside for me. Books are organized and we should be supporting her business.
