I have attended Glen Cairn for many years. We are called a “welcoming church” and that is so true: the welcome at the door and the smiles from others as we enter the building; the person at the information desk; the people at the door of the sanctuary handing out the service bulletin. Our minister is always available if you need a visit or a chat. His sermons on Sunday are very relevant to issues of the day. He has always been able to answer theological questions I might have. Our sanctuary is furnished with chairs that lock together. They can be easily moved to accommodate wheelchairs. Over the years we have had many people in our congregation confined to wheelchairs or use walkers. They have no difficulty getting around and we also have a special washroom to accommodate wheelchairs. We have an outstanding music program for all ages. Also there is a great Sunday school program for children and also study groups for adults. A favorite thing to do after the service is getting together with others for coffee and snacks. This is especially popular with the children. If you are looking for a place to worship God give Glen Cairn a try.

We tried Glen Cairn United Church 20 years ago when we were looking for a church in the area. The people were very welcoming and the minister was personable and his message meaningful. Turned out the minister was interim, :) but all of the ministers have been equally amazing, and the original one came back full-time! The sermons are relevant to today, thought-provoking, and always have an element of humour. Music is a key element of worship and there are so many talented people and varying styles of music. There are adult education programs that allow us to explore our faith, a small but engaging Sunday School that our son was part of, a variety of social activities, and many outreach programs. I have become very involved in the outreach programs, and I’m always amazed at the generosity of congregants in time, goods, and money, and at the impact the outreach has on the community. Glen Cairn United Church is a welcoming, friendly, supportive environment where I can explore and live out my faith.

hated it. felt small & unimportant. This church does not have a place for wheel chairs or walkers. They often have things blocking the door opening paddles which makes it difficult for the disabled to enter or leave the building. There are no lower coat racks for the disabled. Generally this church felt more like a community center than a church. There are mistakes in biblical teachings at "bible studies" and the Reverend is often difficult to communicate with. Often there are community or social meetings held in the building that are just not christian and this worries me. I have never heard an alter call and there are no scripture memorization for the youth. A long way from the United Church of our youth.

Since coming to Glen Cairn United Church (GCUC) in '03 I have continued to be impressed with the friendliness and sincere caring of the congregation, the quality of music, the dedication of the pastoral care team, the variety of activities and study groups, and especially the quietly progressive ministry. I am pleased to call it my church home. In recent years I have witnessed efforts made to improve the slope of sidewalks, the addition of an accessible washroom, powered doors, sanctuary chairs moved to allow for wheel chairs, and more. I am encouraged by the growth of the congregation in recent years. And I look forward to maybe seeing your smile sometime.

My family and I have attended Glen Cairn United Church since 1978. My 2 daughters grew up in this church, were in Sunday School, cherub choir and junior choir, and both were also married at this Church. The music is outstanding, the sermons are insightful, the outreach that the church participates in is second to none. This church has provided us with opportunity to participate where we feel so called, to study if that is what we like to do, to attend informal as well as formal gatherings with the Minister and to celebrate each other each Sunday after the service. I love this church and will be attending it as long as I am able.

Glen Cairn United Church is full of welcoming, caring and Christian people! I have always felt that I am an important part of the church community. We raised our four children in this church and I can attest to the faithful adherence to the gospel of Christ. The Minister is excellent!

I could not get through each week if it wasn't for my church family. I attended another United Church years ago and it was not a good fit. Then I switched to Glencairn.

Hosted a party there. They rented their community hall to us. The hall suites our requirement. Plenty of parking and great kitchen space.
