Disgusting service ! How this Doctor even got his qualifications is beyond me.. I am trying so hard to change Doctors at the moment! The service is appalling, Receptionists are unhelpful and as for the "Doctors" they are clock watchers with no interest in their patients what so ever. I've had multiple bad experiences, from misdiagnosis (when going to A&E or Emergency Doctors they've treated me correctly) and most recently they labelled my swabs/urine test incorrectly and didn't bother to tell me until I chased a week later. I'm fed up of this practice, Dr Bala sits in his room with his classical music on literally saying one word answers and is USELESS, he has never diagnosed me correctly in the whole 10 years I've been there. Dr Gupta rushes through her appointments, looks at her watch and texts on her mobile during patients being in the room (she was the one rushing and incorrectly labelled my swabs!). They should be shut down.... disgraceful service!
Totally unacceptable lack of patient care. My grandson (Rhys Victory) is a patient at this surgery. He contacted the surgery on Wednesday 19th October complaining of chest pains. On Thursday 20th he was contacted by the receptionist and offered antibiotics (unethical). Saw a locum doctor on Friday 21st who didn't bother to carry out even the most basic examination and prescribed antacids. Less than 30 hours later he was in resus at A&E diagnosed with HCM. The problems with this surgery have continued even after his discharge from hospital. A detailed letter of complaint to relevant authorities to follow. I'm appalled at the way this GP surgery operates.
I have been a patient at the Gillmans road surgery for a number of years. I have always found Dr Bala and his team to be professional and very friendly. I have had recent cardiac surgery and regard myself to be very lucky to have such a first class GP with a first class team. I only hope Dr Bala and his team remain at the Gillmans road surgery and I continue to be a patient in their care for a long time. I only hope they feel appreciated for all the care and support they give.
Even by the low standards of GP practices, this place is poor - wrote me a referral letter that was so vague, the referred service couldn't use it. No in-person appointments, but can't issue repeat prescriptions over the phone, pharmacies can't contact them for repeats, and can't issue a registration letter for patient access without an appointment. If you need regular medication, you're screwed.
We moved here in 2020 and joined this Dr Balaratnam a few months into that year. He then preceeded to systematically terminate my husbands mentalhealth meds causing him to self harm for the first time in 34 yrs. The same doctor did the same sort of reckless action on mu children and my medication causing even more turmoil on me and our children. This man shouldn't even be classified as a Doctor.
I have never had such a bad experience with a GP in my life. He was rude, disrespectful, and above all, he is not even aware of the current practices. He was not helpful at all to me, and can't even give a repeat prescription for a very well known drug. NEVER go to this clinic. You will come out feeling worse than you did when you came in. Ridiculous how some people become doctors....
I've been with Dr. Balaratnam since I was a child, I haven't ever had any issues. I was diagnosed with depression, which my doctor prescribed adequate medication for, and when I had a concern about a sensitive matter he was calm and referred me to a specialist for further review - later found out it was cancer. I couldn't really ask for much more, many thanks.
They are ridiculous. First they do not book the emergency appointment. However when booked after insisting that my 4 year old is suffering from high fever and throat swelling, the gp literally said that your child was not going to die that you booked an emergency appointment.. extremely ridiculous people owing and running the gp surgery
Registered here 1 week ago, had appointment today, was the worst practice i have ever been with, i immediately asked them to remove me from their practice list. Rude staff and an unsympathetic doctor who told me i would have to come back for my prescription on Monday which meant whole weekend without medication.
30 minutes ago I was recently travelling to the UK and stayed close to the practice. I had some pains in my chest and went to get it checked out. I thought Dr. Bala was direct, efficient and answered my questions with honesty. I appreciated the fact he respected my time and got to the problem. Thanks again!
went in with a headache, rash and vomitting every time i moved and a temperature dr told me i might have meningitis then said go home if you feel worse just go hospital... meningitis is serious its hardly jus a cold or something and is quite contagious to be told to go home is ridiculous
Very uncaring and dismissive doctors. Been with the practice for a few years and all the doctors me and my children have seen have shown the same behaviour. Sadly most GP practices around the area have the same type of reviews hence why I have not changed practice yet
One of the best doctors I've ever met. Very professional, kind and supportive. I had a shoulder injury and he referred me to a Physiotherapist in a short period of time and got it sorted. Very happy with the service
Fantastic doctor. Very caring and funny! Made sure to make me feel comfortable and listened to my issues. I think the treatment. Given was very impactful! Highly recommend!!
Really good staff. Nice doctor, nice secretary. I cannot complain. I've seen a share of bad GPs in my life. Quick referral was given. Well done to the practice
Dr Bala is very calm, attentive and does not waste time in dealing with any issues. Very thorough. Staff at the surgery are polite and professional too.
Good service, easy to get appointments, doctor has always helped and treated me correctly, prompt referrals. I would recommend this practice to anyone
Absolutely not understanding or supportive with mental health issues. If you are in any way vulnerable - go somewhere else for support.
Expecting a call between 6:30 - 7 PM but Dr Bala did not call. Typical service from Gilmans Road Surgery. Avoid like the plague
Positive experience, friendly and helpful; doctor took the time to listen and I didn’t have to wait too long!
Very Rude receptionist not very helpful very rude when you talk to them on the phone
so rude he is .... dose not know how to do his job properly. . never go there ...
It is a friendly and professional surgery. GP is really helpful. I liked it.
