Gilgit Baltistan is famous for its mineral rich glacial streams fed mountainous vegetables ie Swanchil Shah as shown in photo from Heramosh valley. In shina/Gilgiti , shah means vegetable . So here are some famous vegetables grown in GB : 1. Pinnu Shah or Asghar Shah or qam Shah 2. Shaptal Shah (young shoots of alfa alfa are used as vegetable, it has a little sour taste. People in Gilgit love it . It is served with lassi , desi Ghee , red grinded chillies and home made toltopay/kista (a specially baked bread in gilgit) . 3. Kavir Shah 4. Shane Shah
