It's a great school with amazing morale, they have ideas in all the right directions, however, these 'solutions' usually end with more problems. I am a year eight student currently (nearing year nine) and I can tell you I am not leaving this school even if I get the choice to, it has lovely teachers that have(a great sense of humour and teach really well (e.g. Ms.Sharp, Ms Fenn, Mr Whiteman, Mr umenylora, Dr.Esky, Mr.Campbell,Mr.Preston), but building off my old point, many of these good teachers are being replaced/ have been replaced, such as Dr.Esky, a great teacher with an amazing sense of humour that liked all of his students, also having PHDs and such, was replaced by a French teacher incapable of doing basic geography. Another example would be Mr.Preston, an amazing English teacher that was replaced by the aforementioned French teacher that is also incapable of understanding a lot of basic sentences (a real life example from me: 'sir can you change the slide as it has important information for the questions', his answer: 'no you do not need the last slide as you should have remembered it'. The information from the slide was vital for the entire lesson and was left on the slide of 5 minutes for us to read through once). This is a problem at gaynes that was presented simply because 'if we use teachers that work here as substitutes, we can save and fix our money problem). Alongside these problems, depression is one of them; some people even resorting to drugs such as marijuana and tobacco to relieve stress, as of the amounts of sudden homework given and set for the following day, the dank colours of the school (green, white, ugly grey with water stains, bage, black, etc.) and even the fact that they 'encourage' healthy eating, but the main menu includes foods such as: pizza, meat baguettes with butter, meat pies, pasta, chicken in a sub and meat/cheese paninis. As you can see gaynes is not the best school, with many substitute teachers, bad choices but good teachers overall, I wouldn't recommend, but if given the choice between a school with low GCSE success rates and this school, pick this one. Sincerely, A year 8 child that will not reveal his identity, as another year 8 student (Grace Bradbrook) got a detention for having freedom of speech.

In the duration of my time at gaynes it has been to say the least a shaky and bad experience, though I have never been the most focused student the ignorance and arrogance of the teachers (admittedly not all, only most) has been abysmal. Teachers which act childish and lie in statements, mock students about appearance and personality alongside background. Modern education is apparently about equality and being fair or truthful; all of these are nonexistent at Gaynes School. Students are always incorrect and are forced to delete opinions, voicing their opinions is almost publicly frowned upon by members of staff, any attempt of a peaceful or diplomatic way of voicing your opinion is also frowned upon. Students are bullied and nothing is done about it until they use self defence and then they are punished; though this does not reference many in the year of 2017 it does to those of previous years. Parents which are fed lies from teachers which has left some parents incredibly stressed. On an additional note about the teachers even if you reform and change the teachers will hold a grudge and punish you from school events. Would I recommend Gaynes to your child or you? Absolutely not, unless you like being stressed and frustrated. S/O to three good teachers however you know who you are. I'll voice my opinion here publicly because what really can be done anymore, people have been strongly "advised" to give the school five stars or be banned from prom. Never knew freedom of speech was banned at Gaynes

Being someone who only left school a couple of years ago, and has just left college, this is all fresh to me, but some of the things that I hear about this school from my little sister just baffles me. Students writing honest reviews (I know some of them aren't) on here and getting taken out of lesson at school and getting in trouble? Shame on you Gaynes. While I'm here, (this happened a while ago now) my sister was told by the school that they think she should "learn from her behaviour" because of the two staircases in C block she went down the steps that were designated for only going up. She was given a warning with the threat of an hour detention if this happened again. What makes this even more laughable, is that our parents got a letter sent from the school about this and stated in that letter, the school said that my parents can come in to view the CCTV of this. Silly, petty things like this happen all the time at this school, which my sister gets in trouble for constantly, but if it was me when I was in secondary school 3 years ago, no head would be turned. What a complete joke of a school this is. From reading some of the other reviews on here, it sounds like this school is being governed by a dictator whose power has got to their head, so if you're a parent reading this then I strongly suggest you send your child to another school, and even after reading this you still send your child here, then shame on you.

I Am Now In Year 8 And Personally My Experience At Gaynes Hasn't Been Very Good. I Think The School Has A Terrible Way Of Portraying Discipline Towards Students. As A Student Unfortunately I Am Never Given A Opinion And I Am Treated Like An Inferior Towards The School. There Is Never A Suited Teacher For A Subject And Because Of This I Find Learning Quite Diffucult. To Show A Even More In Depth Perspective Of The School I Am A School Council Representative And It Seems Everyone Question That Is Being Asked Is Almost Bypassed And Never Relates To What The Question Actually Is And This Is Meant To Be A Place Where A Students Voice Is Actually Heard. When Joining This School In Year 7 I Was Expecting A Great Experience Due To The Fact Of The Great Induction Days But Now Having Been In The School For A Year I Am Utterly Dissapointed And Very Unsatisfied With How The School Is Run And How Teachers Act. Personally I Would Not Reccommend This School If You Have A Child Because It Will Most Likely Be A Bad Experience. I Am Very Regretful That I Chose To Come To This School And I Wish To Leave By Year 9. Current Student At Gaynes

I am not a student at the school i am a student at a school near by, I get the bus home from school everyday and normally encounter the same group of year 8s everyday. There was also a group of year 11s last year and they all push in front of my school who are always at the bus stop before them. These pupils also push and it seems not all off them but most of them have little to no manners, i have seen them push elderly people out the way, push past people there before them, i have seem them drag themselves up by other peoples bags and i have seem them hurt other people. I feel like this school need to learn some basic manners, again it is not all but most of them. When you get on the bus a lot of them take up 2 seats each and wont move their bags or legs for other people, they shout at an unbearable volume on the bus they throw things, squirt things on other people (my friends and i have had power-aid lucozade and other sticky drinks squirted on us by these pupils) I think that it is outrageous that these studants act like this and something has to be done about it!!!

Gaynes School is nothing but a joke, my daughter has her exams in a few months, but the headteacher seems to think his way of helping her is to keep giving her 5 day exclusions to other Schools, examples of a few are for staring at a boy, for being too ill to turn up to a Saturday Dentention. She has spent more time out of School, than she has there. I have complained to the School, but their obviously not bothered about my daughters education. They exclude pupils to make it look good for Ofsted if they visit. I warn other parents, DO NOT send your children to Gaynes, if I knew what it was like before sending my daughter there, I would of refused her place there.

It's a shame that students have to delete their view on this school. In our planner it says that we have the right to be listened to but it don't feel like it and that mentions about student voice, but some people part of the school council says that mr edgar don't listen to the points being made. They can't afford to keep some teachers resulting to them leaving and we keep getting covers which is unfair. A lot of people are wondering where all the money the school gets go to, it should be going to getting new resources that will benefit everyone.

  • Hello People

Personally I have loved my time at gaynes. I feel like the teachers have been very supportive of me since I lost my arms and legs. I've been used as a ball by he teachers who have used me for a game of catch. It was a lot of fun. My favourite teacher is the one that denied me my freedom of speech. I'd highly recommend this school for your child especially if u have special needs

I have left the school this year. Some of the teachers where very nice and helpful and you could talk to them and have a laugh. But other teachers where horrible or just couldn't be bothered to teach us. The school does nothing when it comes to bullying and they just let things go down hill I really wouldn't want to make a child go there.

  • mia abel

my time at gaynes wasn't very well spent i didn't really enjoy the options that i took and am now sooo pleased ive left and am doing much better at college some of the teachers i had i really enjoyed having teaching my lessons though

  • Grace Bradbrook

Honestly the school is so bad, it is so poor and the teachers just don't let us do anything or say anything, they say that we have to right to have a freedom of speech, yeh when we do they moan …

My daughter started mid year 11 the school seem to be more bothered about attendance and punctuation reports more than there level of education they achieve by student or provided by teachers
