The counter lady once abused me because I was spending time reading each back cover of the book. Before I get onto the specifics, I will give u some history, I have grown up visiting gangarams as a kid. The place was special to me as a kid, the people, the shopping, the books, the video games. This place has a special connection with me, that was a glorious time, now the place has changed, the staff there don't have the core values as what the owner has. it's become like a government company- shutters at 8:30pm. Who closes their store at 8:30 that too at MG Road, I travel from electronic city (Work) to my home near Mekhri and on some weekdays when I have the urge to do book shopping I stop by at MG road and mostly I don't reach before 8pm (thanks to the infamous traffic jams). On this particular day I visited gangarams and wanted to grab a good action thriller and I spent time going through every back cover of books that had a interesting title, while I was doing that I was also checking the book review on goodreads by scanning the barcode. The lady at the cash counter spoke in Tamil (I am a tamilian by the way) "this guy is wasting our time by taking pictures and not letting us go home " with a disgusted look. This was at 8:15 pm, I took the pain to stop by near empire hotel and walk down all the way till gangarams store but this specific individual could not wait for 10 extra minutes. I was so embarrassed I put the book down, kept my phone in my pocket and walked out of the store. You might ask why i did not retaliate, I ask myself the same thing at times. I guess I liked this store so much that I got hurt instead of getting angry. Post this experience i promised myself that I will never go back to this store, this specific MG road store.

In reply to "I am sorry but the comment mentioned is wrong. " Mr Vinay, my review is NOT about the company or their product. It is about the customer service of your store. Your involvement was limited to calling the customer service, that too after much cajoling. When I requested you to exchange the product you flatly refused unless the company took the product back. It was all between me and the company. My your logic the company could have send me back to the part supplier/raw material supplier saying that I should deal with them. Then no one in the chain assumes any responsibility, everyone just passing the buck around. It used to be that all stores had "NO EXCHANGE, NO REFUND, NO LIABILITY" in bold letters; now there are stores with "100% customer satisfaction" and with defined return policies around - lifestyle, spencer, central, shoppers stop, big bazaar, my local stationary shop etc. In my opinion they offer much better customer service than your store, at least in the area of after sales service. Also you did not care to reply to my detailed email send to you. I do not think you really care about resolving the issue.

Very nice experience with the owner and the staff. The owner is a very jovial and humble person to have conversations with. There are lots of great books in their Arts, Fiction, Non-fiction, Scientific sections of books (in Ist Floor). I was sometimes surprised to see some rare books in their collection, and was very happy to purchase those books. And moreover, beyond a threshold (I guess 1000 Rs?), you will get a nice percentage of discounts too... There is an academic floor too, where you will get all the books for your college and school needs. I found the Computer Science section there a bit out dated, but still they have a nice collection. In the ground floor, they have a conglomeration of things from Stationary Items to Drawing/Painting brushes and stuff. Highly recommended to go for a visit.

This is one place I enjoyed hanging out. I love being left alone in a bookstore and take my time to find the book I want. They allow you to spend sufficient time in the bookstore without pestering you to buy. Requesting a book is easy since the owner and staff are knowledgeable. I am still an old timer when it comes to purchasing and hence prefer a store rather than an online portal. Last but not the least, their customer service is highly commendable. I had forgotten my credit card once. The owner knew the firm I work for and he called up and reached out to me from the front desk. He even offers to have the credit card sent to my work place. Going to Axis book store became more an outing than a chore

Dull and depressing ambience. Rude owner/manager. Do not permit reading. And are not upfront about it. The girls are politer. Customer service from management is non existent. I used to be a regular at Gangaram's when they were on MG road. And so came here out of nostalgia. A terrible mistake. With their approach to customer service (or the lack of it) no wonder they are on a downward spiral. It was my son's day off from school and so we decided to spend some mommy-son time together lounging in the bookstore, reading a few, buying a few. These guys put a damper. My 6yr old was definitely disappointed. And wanted to go home. We salvaged the day by going to Higginbotham instead.

Your customer service is poor. I recently purchased a book and, after examining the contents, I realised that I required more detail. I went back to the store and requested an exchange and offered to buy 2 separate books in exchange for 1. The owner flatly refused by replying " We don't do exchanges regardless of how many books you want to buy" . Requesting an exchange for more product of higher value is a reasonable request and creates a win-win situation for your business and the customer. Maybe, if you focussed your policies towards customer satisfaction, you would get and retain more customers. I definitely will not be buying from this store again.

Terrible, TERRIBLE experience! I'd ordered books from their website over 10 days ago, and I haven't received them yet. Meanwhile, I've called them 4 times, sent an email (no response), and each time they would just tell me that someone will call me back and let me know its status, but no one ever did! The 4th time I called them, they told me it has been shipped now and it'll be delivered by Apr 17th. It's Apr 18th EOD now and I've heard nothing about this order yet, let alone receive it. NEVER ordering from them again. What a waste of my time and money!

I cross this bookstore almost every day for last 2 years and somehow i had never observed it as a bookstore! Yesterday while i was crossing i for the firs time really saw this and couldn't control myself but go inside. And i was like a kid in a candy store! This store carries the traditional book store cum stationery vibe in it which was so good to feel after a long time. It's huge! As this is a stand alone 3 storey building there is nothing else to divide your attention like it happens in bookstores inside a mall. Loved it, waiting to visit again.

Every small detail requirement gets fulfilled here. Even go for window shopping then also you will buy something before coming out. Famous bookstore in Bengaluru (Bangalore). This is the place to find many hard-to-find books. Visit to Gangaram's is like visiting a Barnes and Noble. Great experience to discover and shop for various kids learning and art / craft materials. Impressed by the vast space and layout. Pricing also seemed fair and received courteous service from the store helpers / manager at counter. Bought oil colors, origami paper, maps, map work sheets, brushes etc. for the kids. Also, they gift wrap for free on Gangaram's paper. Great place to look for practical gifts for the numerous kids birthdays that one has to attend these days.

This is another heavenly shop for me which I found today while going to itsy bitsy. I got some of the craft stuffs here which I didn't get in itsy bitsy. The store is having friendly and supporting staff who will help you find whatever you want. The owner uncle is very nice and helpful. Will definitely go again to explore on the book sections which I heard that they have very nice collection. Kudos to the team of GangaRam.

Recent times, coming across a store with immense and essentially a comprehensive collection of books and periodicals is rare and this store is one such example. Run effectively and updated constantly across all categories. Just love browsing the shelves and the store owner is very friendly and humble enough to offer his help. The owner was shouting at the workers on multiple occasions, also the owner's son perhaps at the billing was rudely scolding another worker while I was at the billing. book lovers who have been in Bangalore since 1980 will just love the experience of buying books here. In those years it was by far the biggest book shop in Bangalore. While it has reduced in size since it shifted to the new location, the staff is still very good at handling customer queries. A reasonable sized book collection. But smaller than what it was previously.

Not helpful manager at the store. We bought a Rs600 worth mug and he couldn't even spare a measly tape and some wrapping paper. Not a good experience...It's really embarrassing thing to the customers. The behavior was rude and don't have a sense to speak to the customers.

I found all the books which i was looking ,except for one.The person at the billing counter was really helpful,gave me an International call just to inform that book which i was looking ,has arrived at his shelf.Would love to visit this bookstore again :)in my next trip.

It's a very nice experience...they welcomed with "Welcome sir, How can I Help You". And said "Thank you visit again" at the last. The rates are cheaper. Entire building is dedicated for books.And a wide variety of books are available. It's a very pleasant experience.

One of my favorite places to visit after visiting Kaveri Emporium whenever in Bangalore. A veritable treasure trove of books covering almost any interest you may have. Besides books variety CD/DVDs, greeting cards for all occasions and so on.

Staffs are very well mannered and helpful. Specially the man who handles engineering books section on second floor. One of the Book that I purchased from there had some printing issue i went there next day and they changed it without hussle.
