Futala Lake is a lake in Nagpur in the Indian state of Maharashtra. The lake covers 60 acres and Built by the Bhosle kings of Nagpur, the lake is known for its coloured fountains. In the evenings the site is illuminated with halogen lights and Tanga (carriage) rides. The lake is surrounded on three sides by forest and a landscaped beach on the fourth side. In the western area of Nagpur, ancient Futala Lake has existed for 200 years. In the absence of maintenance, the use of this prehistoric lake was limited to cattle washing only. It was therefore decided in 2003 to beautify this lake from NIT funds with equal aid from the state government The work was done in two stages. Desilting was done on large scale along with the removal of lotus plants and other waste from the lake. The work included repairing the eastern guard wall of the lake, construction of a pathway with granite stone paving, widening of an 18 m wide road under I.R.D.P., roadside guard wall and landscaping berms, parking and garden bays on the other side of the road, and fixing decorative lamp, benches, attractive dust bins, etc. For watering of plants and landscaping, a sprinkler system was provided. For sufficient lighting with four high masts were fixed in the vicinity of the lake. Two coloured 15 feet (4.6 m) fountains and a white 100 feet fountain were set up in the lake. The work of Immersion Ghat with three ramps on the south side and guard wall of the lake with sand beach on the north side was also done in the first phase. In the second phase of beautification, road berms were cleaned and interlocking paving blocks were fixed on the road from Hanuman Temple to Futala Lake and surrounding triangular land in front of the Temple. About 1300m road was paved under this to solve the grave parking problem raised due to the famous Hanuman temple and beautification done.

I will rate it 3 stars as it's the only place for fast food and that too street food and many of us will not like to visit here as Chinese served here is very spicy and unhygienic at a cost. The fountain show is still under progress and will take more months, the deadline for this was Jul 2023 however it is still a deadline and now a new deadline has been issued by authorities and that too in 2024. However, the trial shows conducted here were good but one can't say it best as some parts of the show were in the local language, so it was uncomfortable for many who were not familiar with the local language. But one thing about this lake is that street vendors are available till late at night and they arrive here early in the morning for a good cup of tea/coffee while viewing nature's beauty, you can enjoy it.

I have my emotions attached to this place. When I was a kid one of my friend's dad used to take us for a ride on his bullet along Futala lake's bank way back in early 1990s. Fast forward to my college days, i used to go this place for morning walks and jogs. Later-on developed birding as a hobby and sighted migratory birds in this lake. Now, the lake has been beautified in an urbane way and old charm has been lost. Migratory birds have stopped visiting the place due to concrete structures coming in. Wheter it is good, bad or ugly is debatable and can be discussed on different forums. However, one thing for sure, for us humans, the new fountain show that is going to come up will be a sight to enjoy (and infact it is). Sharing a video from inauguration ceremony for all.

Futala lake is newly renovated and they built water fountain in the lake. This fountain is second longest water fountain after Dubai's water fountain. More than 4000 people can sit and watch the water fountain show. This show recorded in three different language. Marathi which is narrated by Marathi Actor Nana Patekar. Hindi show narrated by famous writer Gulzar and English show narrated by none other than Mr. Amitabh Bachchan. Water fountain show is really Amazing and worthy to spend money for this show. Everybody should watch this show if you are in Nagpur.

Yes.. we have asias biggest closed fountain at futala... DISAPPOINTED!!! Rash Drivers!!! Hard to servive for family as Nagpurs all chapri people you will get here... Smoking stalls here and there... where we should go with family? The reality is different than you think. We need neat clean places where we feel safe... from chapri people, rash drivers... it was time when there was no development still it was beautiful place. I would like to request NMC and Traffice control division to take actions against the smoking stalls and rash drivers... make this place better.

Futala Lake and Futala Fountain is a great place to spend time with family and friends, especially in the evening time. The sunset here is beautiful, although the main attraction Futala Fountain is still not open for regular shows. I think it will open once the parking construction is finished. But still, there is lot to do here in the evening, there are many small food joints and there is music , so the overall environment is pretty nice. Must-visit place if you are in Nagpur.

Pretty huge lake. This has become a lot cleaner than before. Still a lot to improve, since some people are still littering the place as if it's their right. The recent development around this lake is enormous. You could see the proper seating arrangements made for the new fountain show. The shops are on the sides of the road. This place has now become something we could talk about, when we are among the people who have not visited Nagpur before.

Good spot to visit in Nagpur, it's one of the most famous tourist places in Nagpur (mini marine drive ). HYGIENE: some areas of it are properly maintained but some are filled with litter, obviously it's our job to put waste in dustbins but there are no dustbins (NMC needs to seriously work on it) ACTIVITIES: There are food stalls around if you want to enjoy some street food and you can stroll around with your GF if you have one (chota lovers point).

This place is worth visiting with family and friends and young children for an evening outing. The colorful fountains dancing to some of the most popular as well as National songs is worth a watch. The siting arrangement, in a gallery shape, makes viewing the show very comfortable. The half an hour show is enjoyable by every age people. I feel the illumination inside the park, the walk path to the fountain, is not adequate and needs to be improved. Also the parking, though adequate, needs to be better managed.

The place has become the most attractive spot in Nagpur City and, on average, 1,000 visitors visit the lake daily. Much work is still to be done including the construction of the hill steps, sand beach paving on the platform, Nana-Nani park, etc. on the south side of the lake. Also, a water pond and garden are to be developed on a triangular plot opposite Hanuman Temple.

Absolutely stunning fountain show! This lake is overall very beautiful anyhow, a perfect sunset spot… but the fountain show was truly magical! It portrayed the history of Nagpur city through a light projection on water! A must visit. Would recommend buying VIP tickets for a better view.

The fountain construction destroyed the spirit of the lake. The lake is closed for the whole day, only open in the evening. Just made the fountain to earn money. Earlier the lake was more alive and people used to come there and spend their time. Now you have no access to the lake, open only in the evening just to see a fountain dancing which can also be seen from the road. Waste of taxpayers money.

Fountain show at futala not open for daily basis. According to security guards in futala, fountain show will open after diwali in 2022, on the occasion of 15 august only opening ceremony has done. If you want to go for fountain show you need to wait till diwali this year.

It was name late Lata Mangeshkar fountain.. There is Parking for two wheeler and car and having seats for around 2000 people They should keep 100 rs ticket for maintenance . Show is awesome worth every penny recommend to watch everyone once ..overall it awesome show

Sometimes all you need is to sit by lake and enjoy the sound of silence but smokers and "chapris" have made this place pathetic. I personally avoid going here on weekends cause of unwanted rush. Its rare to see a glance of fountain show so if you are coming for that you would be disappointed. Good place for visiting but nothing exceptional.

One of the best places in Nagpur. I was fortunate to experience this show in the presence of Shri Nitin Gadkari Ji. Visit the place 30mins before the show and occupy the upper deck to have the best experience.

This is on road opp at to Futala lake .I was hungry and I had few minutes before my meeting so I came across this road side kiosk . But turned out to be the best so far . I tried Upma and it was super delicious with only 40 Rs to pay and a decent quantity. Shivani is the lady who is running this place a must try

Place where lots of Love birds are available. Nice place but construction work is not over. It will take some time. Also there is a issue of Car Parking near site. As of now can see only lake...thats it,with busy love birds dwelling and sitting around. Also i found lake is clean...thats good thing.

This was an awesome experience. History of nagpur was well explained in a video that was projected on fountains. Musical show, sound effects all made this event fabulous.

Excellent light and sound show which educates the public about the origins and history of Nagpur. Presently parking is available opposite to the helicopter. Multi level Parking is being built opposite to the facility. Construction of 4 floors completed. Total 12 -13 floors planned.
