A handful of gluten free options had us hightailing to FunkyTown. It’s rare to find gourmet flavor gluten free baked goods... ESPECIALLY donuts. Call ahead. Lots of items were sold out when we visited on a Saturday night. Yes...you read that correctly...hunting down gluten free donuts on a Saturday night. If your ‘New Year’s Resolution’ is to count calories or eat a normal and balanced dinner... then *don’t venture to FunkyTown for donuts. But if you’re fun-loving and in the mood for maple bacon, passion fruit, strawberry vanilla lemon, or an apple fritter... give this place a try. Go! And buy extra. Kiddos really enjoyed the different flavors of donut holes too. Maybe 8 or 9 different donut hole flavors are offered - if you’re a morning person. For us night owls - we were able to still snag 3 flavors of donut holes right before closing.

Was on a trip to fort worth this week with the family for spring break. Loooooong day of travel with a 5 year old and 2 year old and coming across this place made my night and kids morning. Walked in late , about ten mins before close (owning restaurants) normally I wouldn't do this but any place that sells beer and donuts......yea I'm giving it a shot. Not only were the two girls working welcoming right at close (Saturday night 18th). They suggested a beer that was great and surprised my kids with a box full of donuts they would want at that age and even though my kids were on a Suger rush the next morning it started our day perfectly and ended my night with a great beer and great customer service. In this day and age, that's very hard to come by. 100% RECOMMEND and would love to bring this concept to Florida.

First time I tried gluten free donut because it’s been awhile. I went with my husband and I was glad they had an option (not gluten free) for him as well. My only thing was I have a tree nut and wheat allergy and I asked what was the dough made out of because sometimes the vegan or gluten free is made with almond flour or etc so I just need to be careful. And the workers just said it’s “allergen free”. I had to just take their word for it that there wasn’t any allergies which is a risk for me. Anyways, no reactions but still think they should let ppl know what is used in their product without giving the recipe away besides the allergen free statement. However, I still enjoyed and will try to try more flavors. Also, wish they offered the cinnamon flavor in gluten free didn’t see it as an option. :(

First time visit: Easily the best looking doughnuts I've seen. Bravo. That's what got me in the door. Even drove out of my way to go here. Unfortunately, they are the worst tasting, By Far. Not even close. I'd rather give up than eat these. I got a good variety and "tried" each. They all had the same terrible dough and bland "flavor". I would never eat another, even if free. Minus 2 stars. 2 Employees upfront. 1 friendly. 1 rude. I'll let them figure out which is which. Minus 1 star. Running out of classic chocolate doughnuts on Sunday in the early am hours!? Minus 1 star. As you can see, the taste of these things are a bigger infraction to me, than rude employees, or running out of doughnuts right after opening. I still tipped them for handing me my food. The one lady was friendly.

I love the donuts and all the unique flavors! Such a fun spot and I love bringing new people here! Most of the girls behind the counter are super friendly and helpful! There’s one clerk who doesn’t really fit the vibe though, and always comes across as pretty rude, not only to customers but her coworkers as well. I wish I could order the unique flavors online so I could avoid such an uncomfortable interaction. With my most recent order I ordered 6 donuts and then asked for two additional donuts in the same box and she let out an audible sigh even though I told her I didn’t mind if they got squished. It’s just a shame that such a cool spot/experience has to be dampened by someone’s bad attitude.

Beautiful looking donuts but the taste was very bland. My husband and I went on July 1st after reading their great reviews. We got a chef’s dozen because I couldn’t decide and I knew my children would like to try a variety of different flavors. The two young ladies we interacted with were nice. One young lady did say they had just changed their flavors after I asked which ones were most popular. So disappointed to have paid so much for bland donuts. Maybe they were off because they just changed their flavors, however, the dough was bland and a little tough. I would think the dough recipe would be consistent even though the flavor toppings change. I don’t think we will go back.

Every time I've ever come to this location, there have been issues. It's one of the few places I can get Vegan donuts for my daughter, so I occasionally come back but I'm always disappointed. I've called and requested the last vegan donut be held and offered to pay for it, to be told yes but to pay when I arrive, and still watch them sell it to the customer in front of me. They also dont seem to actually start making their donuts until the store is open, so god forbid you come early for donuts, because all you'll get are the plain ones. After this last incident, I will outright, not be returning to this location again. Thanks for the wasted gas.

We’ve wanted to visit for a while but it never worked with our schedule (we’re from out of town). We stopped by on Sunday morning - glad we did. Employees were very friendly - everything looked tasty and it was hard to pick. We ended up getting a classic glazed, chocolate glazed, apple fritter, and a jalapeño bagel dog (as well as a coffee). The donuts and fritter were great (as expected). The real surprise was the bagel dog. It was spicy and the bagel was tasty and chewy. I really enjoyed it - I wish I had bought a couple more to take home as I’ve never had anything like it before. We’ll be back the next time we’re in town!

*CUSTOM ITEMS: DO NOT ORDER* Complete disregard for customers time when ordering a custom item. Do not order from here if you are depending on the item being ready by a certain time. I placed a custom order 24 hours in advance (per their "rules") for a 10am pick up and when I got there at 9:45am the donut hadn't even been CUT. It then had to be fried, cooled and decorated (for my sons birthday) which would have taken at least 30 more minutes. They claimed the reason for this being so last minute was for "freshness" but I would have much rather had the donut ready on time.

My family and I were in Fort Worth visiting from South Texas, and can I just say, they have an awesome product! The flavors they offer are so creative and bursting with real essence of the flavors. I'm a Fort Worth native myself, so the name is awesome and I can't wait to visit again. I met the owner, Brandon, and very rarely do you have owners who will come out to you and make sure your experience is enjoyable. And the young lady who helped us that night was so pleasant and knowledgeable. We'll definitely be back! Keep up the great work guys!

  • Dominque Gaston

Drove 40 minutes specifically for their vegan donuts. Parking was extremely difficult. Then when I arrived they only had 3 donuts available. Matcha, chocolate & chocolate with sprinkles. They had run out of the vanilla. I decided to get the chocolate. They just weren't good. The texture was off with it being baked and not fried. I also ordered the Vanilla rose latte. Now that wasn't bad. They have tons of creative donuts. A suggestion would be to expand their vegan selection especially since they only have it available on specific days.

  • Cody Wayne Pope

I tasted quite a few doughnuts here. the bread to icing ratio for the strawberry with sprinkles was way skewed toward bread, and the bread was mediocre. Same story with the vanilla doughnut holes. The cinnamon roll was too hard. The orange cake with dark chocolate icing was actually pretty good though. I also had a bite of the tropical, and the papaya icing was good. The honey lavender icing was exactly as described. Again, both had mediocre doughnut base though. This place is close to being good but the details aren't right.

I am a wedding planner and we worked with FunkyTown Donuts and Drafts for a big wedding and the donuts were a HUGE hit with the wedding guests. We literally had to guard the donut wall because guests were trying to take donuts before the bride and groom had a chance to take their first bite! There was some, but not a ton of leftover donuts because the crowd just went wild for them! It was a pleasure working with FunkyTown Donuts on this wedding and I hope to have them back for future client weddings!

  • Cars And Claws

You MUST stop when you hit up Sundance square!!! To say the doughnuts are amazing is an understatement!! The flavor profiles are layered and just to die for. Better yet there's always something new as they change up the flavors every month. Not only do they have doughnuts out of this world you have to stop by for breakfast and get a everything bagel kolache! Life...changing! 10 out of 10 would definitely recommend...in fact if you go to Sundance and don't stop I have pity on your soul

  • Val Cher

This place claims to be vegan friendly but will only sell vegan donuts on the weekends. The one time I finally am close to Fort Worth is for work during the week, and I cant take advantage of it since I live far and am home on the weekends. Just because you serve vegan options a couple days out of the week doesn't make you vegan friendly. I cant even buy any! I'll give Cinnaholic my business, they are vegan friendly.

While visiting, I was on the hunt for unique eatery and came across Funky Town Donuts. Very chill space and sweet staff. I partook in a Strawberry Shortcake donut which was delightful. Moist, not to sweet, it was just right. I wish I could have had a bite of them all. It would be great if they had half portions to try them all. Coffee was good. Will definitely visit again if the opportunity arises!

  • OGShawnee (OGShawnee)

On Saturday 8/19 the first experience was amazing I had dealt with White gentleman and hospitable and gave small talk, However the following the morning I dealt with Black young lady and she had whole attitudes as person of color took everything in me to go smooth the hell off of her the Coffee is good and the donuts are amazing but depending on who get you might have not so pleasant experience.

  • Cinthia CH

Opening day visit. Staff is super friendly. My friend tried the Texan donut with brisket on it. She said it was delicious. I had the berry bramble tart, it was good as well, had the right amount of sweetness. I like the shop concept, you can also grab a beer here if you really want one. I’m concerned the seating area is small and may get really crowded. Wishing success to Funky Town Donuts.

  • Crack Mama

The shop is beautifully set up, cannot find places like this in Oklahoma !!! The bacon is delicious and the strawberry shortcake is to KILL FOR. Food and environment overall was great!! Only downside was an employee, Dani or Daniel or something was just having a bad day apparently and took it out on the customers. Often on her phone. But surely coming back for more donut holes!!!

  • kylei Hopkins

Anytime we go in they are the kindest people. I’ve been coming here since me & my boyfriend met 5 years ago & the owner always goes out of his way to say Hello, ask us how we’ve been, and pack our box of donuts. Every time I have extra time we stop at funky town donuts. Best donuts ever & the nicest owner. Always thankful for small businesses, the hospitality, and yummy treats.

  • jason

The donuts were great. The worker that helped us ... not so much. A little on the rude side. We asked how a certain donut was. Her response, " well if you like lemon and raspberries you will like it". What??? I need a little detail please! Like.. oh, it has a tart taste, or its sweet, or the its more raspberry flavor with a hint of lemon. I mean, help me out a little please.

  • Ava Jones

I am blown away by these fresh made donuts. I have seen their donuts often on a local mom’s Instagram stories, she posts pictures of them often. All I can say is I regret not trying them sooner. We are now addicted!! The girls there are so cheerful and so happy to answer questions never in a hurry to just get you out the door. Family owned and operated.

  • Rita V

This is my favorite donut shop. I won't get donuts anywhere else. I've tried hurts donuts, and while that donut shop is better than your corner store donuts, nobody does donuts better than Funkytown donuts thus far, in my opinion. I love that they have seasonal flavors and are mixing things up using quality ingredients with great taste.

  • S.S.

Thought I could get vegan donuts at this location but couldn't but I did get some delicious vegan Vanilla-Rose Latte. Can't remember the ladies name at the counter that made it but she was super friendly . Also purchased some funky new beer in cans to go, 3 different flavors, they were different then I expected but actually good.

  • Laura Rose

We received a gift certificate for this place and we are grateful for the impeccable customer service. I emailed a question and they responded and were more than willing to accommodate us. The location was clean and the front desk were very helpful. Everyone loved the donuts and a friend said the bear claw was the best she ever had.

  • Eric Johnson

Stopped in after our pre Christmas Eve Downtown Fort Worth stay for something sweet! Tried the Mexican Hot Chocolate (Bambina didn’t like), Apple Fritter w/Pecans (Her favorite), Blueberry Maple (my favorite), & The Nut Cracker (we both enjoyed). Staff was nice and recommend if in downtown trying this quaint little Donut Shop out.

  • Jocelyn Galindo

The best gourmet donut in Fort Worth, Texas or Texas period. Not to mention Beer & Wine To-go! The latte's are amazing! Friendliest staff I've ever encountered. The owners are friendly and always working super hard at their shops! The best local business to support, especially since they support other local Fort Worth businesses.

  • Chelsea Dee

They have THE BEST gluten free donuts I’ve ever had!!! I do wish they had more of a selection, but it’s more than anyone else has! My family loves all of their other donuts and the kolaches/piggies (whatever you call them). We frequent here. Definitely go!!! Take them to Sundance Square and people watch. It’s a whole thing!!

  • Marlin Lejarazo

Really like the doughnuts and the espresso and the staff is friendly the place is cozy with this coming holidays is perfect. Also you can make orders for a wedding or a special occasion they have flyers inside the store for more details. I'm coming back for sure and try the different flavors they have keep the good work!

  • Sugar Hill

Great donuts made fresh every 2 hours. Flavors change so it's never the same pmave twice. Enjoy donut with wine, mimosas, beer, hot cocoa, etc. The staff has great personality. They are helpful with recommendations and explaining how everything works. Limited seating, bar seats looking out and a few low table and chairs.

  • Joseph Moore

I’m not normally one to get on the “bunch of junk on my donut” bandwagon. I’m a purist. So I was hesitant when I walked in and saw the selection. BUT, the donuts themselves are absolutely fantastic. Soft, slightest bit of deep-fried crisp, great flavor! Would have enjoyed one absolutely plain. Espressos are solid, too.

  • Z EE

Mixed feelings. Donuts change every Sunday which is nice since you get fresh options on a weekly basis. But the taste is something different. If you are looking for a classic doughnut, this is not the place . I would recommend hypnotic donuts. But if you are willing to be a bit more adventurous, I would try these.

  • Katelyn Rudd

The donuts are AMAZING! One of my favorite donut shops in DFW! They are beyond fresh and have unique flavors, that you can only find at their shop! They also have beer and wine to have with your donuts, and you can walk around Sundance square enjoying your drinks after you finish your donut! Totally worth a trip!

  • Makenzi Ewing

Cool little place with unique offerings. We kept it simple with the donut holes(chocolate, vanilla, cinnamon) and a everything bagel dog. Both good. The bagel dough on the dog was a little dry/chewy. Counter Service was fast and friendly. Also grabbed a can of rose to sip as we walked around the square.

  • Derek Baker

They have 3 vegan donuts (which coincidentally are gluten free as well) which are baked instead of fried and about the size of a small tart. Its 2.50 for one which is pretty steep. They were delicious but more like cake than a donut. I kinda wish they had vegan donuts that were actually fried.

  • Brent Greene

Funky Town Donuts is a delightful haven for donut enthusiasts! Their inventive flavors and whimsical designs make each bite an adventure. From Sopapilla to Strawberry Banana every visit to this unique and scrumptious shop is a journey into donut bliss. Donut lovers, rejoice!

  • Ashley Rice

Best service, donuts and coffee. Everyone has been so friendly and these are hands down the best donuts I've ever had. Anytime there is a fruit glaze, I jump on the opportunity. It is hard to believe how the fresh fruit flavor comes through and not an artificial one.

  • Lex D

Wahh. Definitely won't come back. We are still in the parking lot and I already felt the need to write a review. We got 6 donuts and weren't impressed with any of the flavors. Not to mention the crew is just as blan, I gave it a two star for the lady helping us.

  • Amber Scott

Cute bakery to stop and get a treat whilst in downtown Fort Worth. A few vegan, dairy and gluten free choices available, which was great! The donuts were tasty, everything was decently priced, and there was a nice seating area outside. Would recommend :)

  • Yazmin Torres

Customer service was terrible. The girl with piercings seem like she hated her job and life in general. We were not impressed with their donuts. We actually left to go try hurts donuts and they were so good. They have a larger variety and friendly staff.

  • Joe Tresp

Donuts and beer, how could you go wrong?! And the donuts, for "gourmet" donuts were reasonably priced and so was the beer. $6 beer and if you bring the cup back they give you a half price fill. And to make it all even better, FTW allows open container!

  • Maya Hall

Cool looking spot and very friendly staff. I got the chocolate glazed donut and it was super oily and somewhat stale tasting. I couldn't even finish it. Honestly, I've had donuts at gas stations that have tasted better than this. Very disappointing.

  • Robert Ramsey

Other doughnut places do not compare. Try the amazing maple bacon or lemon blueberry, they were both phenomenal. Good location and exceptional service. Will stop by again next time I'm in town!

The donuts are very average and the prices are a bit high. This place is in a prime location and has a lot of potential, but the energy doesn't seem to be there. reviewing pics online, I was excited for a variety of options. However, they

These were the BEST donuts I have ever had in my entire life! Fresh, fluffy and flavorful. The unique flavor choices they had were really fun, I especially loved the hibiscus lime. The shop is adorable and their coffees were tasty as well.

  • Ryan Angwin

Everyone in Sundance Square was walking around with mint green boxes today and I had to find out where they were coming from. Today is their first official day of being open and this place is amazing! Best donut I've ever eaten! …

  • Bill Smith

Friendly, fast, and yummy! They have a good location, just a block away from the North Parking garage, right across from the concert hall. We stopped here for a dessert after a meal downtown. Ihad the Tiramasu donut and the apple

  • Cryptic Reviewer

I like the size of the donuts, and the owner is very kind although I wish the store had more non-alcoholic options. I could only buy one type of donut since the others had alcohol, and they were out of other non-alcoholic flavors

  • Stuart Purchese

Wow . Being from the uk we don’t have anything like this . We tried a selection of the mini donuts but what stood out was the pumpkin cheesecake it was yumpkin pumpkin. Apple fritter with pecans yes please .This place was great .

  • Matt Acuff

BOTTOM LINE: LOOKS DONT MATCH THE TASTE I agree with a ton of other comments here. They make great looking donuts. And they are edible, but maybe the worst tasting donuts. Too much focus on presentation and not enough on taste.

  • Pharcus Winjammer

Gourmet, unique, and delicious flavors of donuts, donettes, and donut holes. Small variety of great brews are a strange pairing, but tasty nonethless. Friendly, helpful staff make this shop a true downtown treasure.

  • Karina

Delicious The strawberry shortcake doughnut was my favorite! Apple friter with pecans tasted like an apple pie . The Bramble Berry tart was “berry” delicious ❤️ Will definitely come back again. …

  • Nadia Emelia

The Best doughnuts I’ve ever had in my life!!! I mean what more can I say?!? Super soft flavorful and not too sugary! Priced reasonably. Sorry but I ate them too fast before I could take a photo!

  • Mario C

I have been to plenty of Gourmet donuts shops in multiple states and I am glad to say we have one of the tops right here in Fort Worth. Friendly, happy staff says alot about good management.

  • Christina Pizza

I thought the decorations of the donuts were great. I can't say they tasted much different from any other donut though. Staff were awesome. I wasn't crazy about the hot chocolate though.

  • Meredith Dierks

Traveling from out of town and love to find the local spots. This place was great! So friendly and fantastic donuts. They are closed Mondays and Tuesdays because of covid for right now!

  • Mark Rodgers

AMAZING!!! Had everything and jalapeno bagel dogs which were fantastic! Also tried the Tiramasu donut, which was one of the best donuts I’ve ever had!! Highly recommend this place!

  • Monica

Love checking out their different donuts! Tried the bacon donut, Raspberry lemonade donut, watermelon donut, reeses chocolate donut and horchata donut in this trip here.

  • David Martin

This donut shop is great. I come here at least every other month for donuts to cater my client. The service actually is not great however. I would recommend the donuts.

  • Cilia Flores

This was such a neat experience. You can fall in love with their funny humor and awesome sweets. They have a variety of yummy donuts. Definitely loved the donuts holes.

  • James Biedenharn

WOW!! Great Donut! Little something for everyone. I’m a big hot donut fan so would love to have a few hot options. But for a great room temp donut this is the place.

Sundance Square in the morning looking for a cup of Joe. The coffee was good and reasonably priced. We sat outside and enjoyed the views of downtown

  • korkypeachmom

The staff was super nice. They make everything from scratch, including the glazes. The beer selection is small but it's all local and well curated!

  • Lauren Solomon

Such a quirky shop! So many interesting and unusual donuts! And they have so many drink choices! And all donuts are made in the shop! So much fun!

  • Chase Schwartz

The donuts look pretty, but the taste bland. They have no flavor to them. They just taste like pure sugar. I would not get donut from here again.

  • Serina Olivares

Such unique donuts! I absolutely love going to the 4th street location. The donuts have a distinct taste that I can’t get anywhere else!!
