Dana and Funerals Your Way is excellent to work with. He saved us over $2K from what the local mortuary was going to charge us and the services were just as good. In our case we already had a burial site at a local cemetery purchased. Because the grave site was there initially they told me I needed to work with them. But after speaking with Dana I learned we could by-pass the mortuary part of that local business. The only recommendation I have for you who are just getting started with this process is to warn you that there are additional burial charges that are significant. I got confused because we paid Funerals Your Way, but then found out the cemetery also had additional fees to bury the casket. This was a mistake on my part because I didn't realize even though you are at the same location they split out the mortuary fees and the burial fees. You are stuck paying the local cemetery fees. But this does not change the fact the mortuary fees were several thousand dollars less with Funerals Your Way. This is a disgusting industry as most of the cemetery's are owned by the same company and they have more or less a monopoly. Using Funerals Your Way cuts into the monopoly a little bit. These companies grossly overcharge for every service and also charge for things they don't even do. For example, the cemetery charged us to dig the hole for the casket AND they also charge another fee to dig the hole for the cement casket liner. But they only dug one hole and they put the liner on top of the casket and then filled in the hole. One hole dug, but blatantly over-charged for digging a hole for the cement liner. I am giving you this info because you still must deal with the cemetery for their fees and they are very kind and nice people, but they will absolutely overcharge you for the burial services. Again, we can't change that part of the equation, but everyone can at least cut the mortuary out from the major overcharges they hand out if you use Funerals Your Way.

I found Funerals Your Way after calling several funeral homes inquiring about cremations for the indigent. Summer showed compassion and understood why I was so passionate about ensuring this person was treated with dignity and respect. I told Summer how committed I was to keep a promise I made, Summer said, "Funerals Your Way will do whatever it takes to help". It took months to get a Power of Attorney so I could legally make decisions. Dana, Summer and the rest of the staff were patient and made sure I had everything I needed. Everyone I met along the way showed trust in me and had to make exceptions in order for me to keep my promise. It was because of the compassion and hard work of everyone, (SDPD, SDC District Attorney, Victim Services, SDC Medical Examiner, Funerals Your Way) involved a miracle happened, we reunited a family separated for 30 years. I had the honor of reuniting this person to their family. They can now continue a family tradition generations old when a loved one passes. There are no words to express my appreciation and thanks to Funerals Your Way. You only get one chance to get it right, Funerals Your Way hit it out of the park. What a relief it was to be able to call "Funerals Your Way" as my girlfriend just passed; only a few months after her beloved soul-mate husband died. One of her final requests at the hospital was for me to call and make sure that her body was cremated and her ashes were spread at sea in the same location as her spouse. I knew exactly what she wanted as I was privileged to take part in his beautiful ceremony on the water. We called Funerals Your Way to perform a memorial service for my mother in law. We were drawn to the name as we were looking to put together a memorial that was done the way we wanted for our mother..not too spiritual, but personal and unique filled with stories of her life.
