I can't even put into words how frustrating this pharmacy makes me. First of all they are never accurate on how much time it will take to fill a prescription. You will go up to the window 2-3 times and hear "It will be another 10 minutes or so." Please just say to come back 30 minutes later instead of me wasting my time. I understand they are understaffed sometimes, but no one likes being given the wrong information multiple times. Second, if you are diabetic PLEASE choose another pharmacy to go to. My husband is type 1 diabetic and I visit this pharmacy a lot for his insulin. I wish I was joking, but on several occasions they gave his prescription away to another customer because he didn't pick it up right when it was ready. I'm not meaning days later, if you don't pick it up an hour or so after they call they will just give it away to another customer. The last time I checked there isn't an insulin shortage, so why are they giving his insulin away to other people? Also, my husband's insulin pump stopped working recently and he needed to get an emergency supply of different type of insulin. He called to confirm it was there for me to pick up and when I got there they said, "Sorry, but we ran out this morning." In what realm of existence is this okay? I've already filed multiple complaints on this location and it never gets me anywhere. We only go to this pharmacy because this is where we go grocery shopping. I'm going to start making calls to find a better pharmacy that actually takes care of their customers.
Some of the techs and pharmacists are helpful or at least try to be, that’s about the only good thing I can say about this pharmacy. Nobody here seems to understand billing, if I didn’t keep a record of how much I pay for Rxs there have been several times I went to pick up medications and they tried to charge me double (sometimes several hundred dollars too much) money for my prescriptions. Then you have to debate and argue with them to get them to re-bill. Which always seems to bring it to the correct amount with time. I frequently wonder how many thousands of dollars of misbilling this place does per month. I have had incorrect prescriptions filled, been given someone else’s medication once, had the pharmacy call me to tell me they’d given my medication to another patient by accident and warning me that my confidential health information got handed to another person by accident. I’ve gone in and spoken to pharmacists about getting refills and then come back the next day, and the next day, and the next day and repeatedly told they forgot to fill my prescription? I have gone anywhere from 3 days to 24 days one time without my medications because of how horribly run this pharmacy is. I seriously wonder how this place passes its yearly audits by the state. They are discoordinated, poorly run, misbill, and seem overall incompetent at the prescription filling process.
Can’t remember a single time in the past year my prescription was ready when it was supposed to be. It just sits in “in progress” status until I call to ask what’s going on and they ask when I want to come get it. I wanted to come get it at the time I was told to expect it, or reasonably soon after that, not 3 days later now that I have to call and complain. What’s going on here??? The staff are genuinely all nice people but this pharmacy is broken as a system. Edit: I added a star because after calling, the tech gave me some tips to help ensure I get my refills on time. I can only add one star because although the tech was great and super helpful, their advice to place the refill request a week in advance makes the app’s quoted turnaround time of 24 hours seem like a total joke. I feel so bad for the people working because they’re so nice and helpful, but Fred meyer is just setting them up for failure by telling people prescriptions will be ready in a day when the reality is that unless you call, it could be a week. Kroger, quit being so greedy. If it’s understaffed, staff it. If they need more machines, buy the machines. If they need more space, add some space. But this can’t go on in such a sorry state. Maybe everywhere else is the same, but if so, it doesn’t bode well for healthcare.
These people work so hard at a thankless job! Every time I go in there’s a long line and they are cranking people through as fast as they can, yet still take the time to talk to you and be caring even though they’re stressed and overworked. I’ve been helped by Kevin the pharmacist multiple times and he runs a tight ship. They always have my meds in stock, unlike pretty much every pharmacy I’ve ever worked with in Portland. All the technicians are swift and courteous, and have not had a bad experience in this place. And this is a particularly rough neighborhood to work in - I should know because I used to work at the FedEx which used to be across the street. Sketchy people and shoplifting galore! They’ve added a serious-looking security guard at every door (which I totally understand and appreciate), and even they are friendly and helpful. There’s some inherent inconveniences - lots of stuff is locked up (bathrooms, all the cosmetics) but that’s not their fault. I like this place so much I travel across town (from NE) for the superior service. Somebody give them a raise!
Used this pharmacy for about a year but 90% of the times I went there I walked away at least disappointed. Three times I went to pick up prescriptions that they had texted me were ready only to be told that they weren't ready. Multiple times I went in the day after the prescriptions were supposed to be ready to find that they weren't. The last straw was when I was going out of town and needed a refill. Supposed to be ready at 2:00 in the afternoon but when I went in at 5:00 pm they weren't. Stopped in on the way to the airport the next am to find that they had cancelled the refill because I didn't pick it up. It appears that the root of the problem is chronic understaffing. FIND A DIFFERENT PHARMACY.
I feel like this Pharmacy gets a bad rap, I have been using them for four years and have never had a problem. The employees are always friendly and knowledgeable. Seems like people always show up to the pharmacy and expect their prescription ready at the snap their fingers. Doesn’t work like that folks! I always call my prescriptions in ahead of time when I need a refill and if some thing is called in from my doctor same day I usually call as soon as I leave the doctors office to verify they got it and they start working on it. Occasionally there is a line but that’s how it is just about anywhere you go to these days. I never have to wait long.
My advice: Go literally anywhere else to get your prescriptions filled. Anywhere. Else. This pharmacy will give you a general time to pick it up, 30-40 minutes being normal. You come back in 40-60 minutes, and you get told it's going to be another 15-30. Every. Single. Time. I have left and come back hours later, and they didn't even start working on it yet. They've blamed their prescription machine (multiple times in a row), how busy they are (why not give me a longer estimated time?), and just plain "we forgot". I have never encountered such incompetence so consistently, and I hope you take my advice and avoid it as well.
Asked a simple question and was treated rudely. Asked to speak with someone else and put on hold so long it transferred me back to customer service. They transferred me back to the pharmacy and I was talked to in a very condescending manner and told they were very busy and training new people. Training them to be rude it seems . All I asked was if they would text me as usual when my prescription was filled. Simple I thought, but apparently I should not have asked the question. I guess I should have known they were too busy and training people.
Very friendly and helpful staff! I’ve been using this pharmacy every month for a little over a year. Every person I’ve talked to on the phone and in person has been kind, knowledgeable, and have gone out of their way to help me with any questions or issues that I’ve had. Very fast at filling prescriptions as well. I have either had no insurance or been on OHP, so I’ve never experienced issues with billing, but I can say they will work with coupons and seem to care about lowering costs for their customers, if possible.
Completely incompetent staff. They tried charging me double what my prescription should cost. I asked if they coded it improperly because the cost shouldn't have changed. They were adamant that they were correct. When I spoke with my insurance, they said Fred Meyer coded it wrong. I called Fred Meyer back and instead of admitting their mistake, they put me on hold and would not get back on the line, so I had to hang up and dial them back multiple times. to get a straight answer.
Okay to be honest this pharmacy is definitely hit or miss depending the pharmacist you get. But the pharmacist there McKenzie is such a great one, she is very kind, polite and informative. There’s been a few times here where I get told my insurance won’t cover it (even though it does) or they never call me to come pick up my prescription when it is ready but she is always very thorough and is awesome when she is there truly.
If I could give them zero stars I would- there hasn’t been a single time that I’ve gone to pick up a prescription (after being called and told it was ready ) that the prescription was actually ready. Every time there is some type issue, whether it be with insurance, someone forgot to order a refill, the shipment was running late, they didn’t see the order in the system- every excuse for terrible service.
This pharmacy lacks consistency and professionalism. One might think that Fred Meyer's pharmacy app and website would work with the actual pharmacy - joke is on you. After requesting a refill and the app saying it would be ready I stopped by to pick just to learn that it would not be refillable. They instructed me to call the next day, so I did. Then I learn that the prescription still cannot be filled.
I'm so surprised at the negative reviews! I frequently get prescriptions filled here for my husband and myself and have always been treated well. They've gone out of their way to get my prescription filled quickly while I was shopping many times. They've always been friendly and accommodating as well as correct with the billing. I'm always glad I have this pharmacy so close to my house!
I've been going here for years, and the pharmacy staff is always super friendly and super helpful (as long as you aren't a jerk). Downtown Portland is extremely busy and has a high population density, and at every pharmacy nearby you will wait a similar amount of time. The staff seems overworked, which is more of a reason to be kind to them! I've never had friendlier pharmacists.
The only reason this pharmacy even got a 3 is because the people who work there are not responsible for the cheap shifts Fred Meyer assigns. A line 10 people long and one pharmacist and one person working the counter! Give me a break, if it isn’t profitable enough for your board members, shut it down and give the space to another pharmacy who can make it work.
I’m excited to transfer pharmacies soon. Going through/constantly worrying about going through withdrawal from my psych meds is getting OLD to say the least. My psychiatrist sent in a prescription and somehow this pharmacy had it as processing then it disappeared from their system. Currently withdrawing due to their incompetence. Literally avoid at all costs.
Rude staff person opening the on 1/18/2017. I understand she was having trouble, but all I did was ask if they would be opening and she got pissed at me, exclaimed, "I'm trying" and walked away leaving me and other customers hanging. It would have been nicer if she told me, I don't know when and if I can open rather than the rude behavior she exhibited.
The people that work here have been very rude the last 3 times we've picked up medication at this pharmacy. Our medication has not been ready hours after it's been called in and all 3 visits they were missing more than one prescription, so we had to wait 20 mins each time to pick up a medication they missed filling.
Really nice and knowledgeable staff. But it does always seem busy with a line, even when several people are working the pickup counters. The pharmacist I have spoken with have always been exceedingly nice and professional. Thank goodness for text notifications and a sushi/wine bar while I'm waiting for a refill!!
The pharmacy always goes out of its way to help me and do what is needed. Always! The store around it- is up and down. Lately way too high priced for most items I need. Organizationally, some real challenges, some really good things. The pharmacy however is always affordable, sturdy, steady and worthy.
After this prescription I will no longer do business here. 4 times they have tried to charge me dble and coded the meds incorrectly...thats 4 months in a row.. and the woman there is so rude...wow. then 2x meds where not filled and had to come back next day. Yup... I'm done doing business there
Just moved to town and was getting my prescriptions transferred. My asthma inhaler prescription was expired by 10 days! The Pharmacist Kevin called two different states and got a hold of a Dr on call to get me one refill. You guys are awesome! Thanks for saving me an ER trip!
26 hours before I can pickup one prescription, and 48 hours before my other prescription will be ready. That is just unacceptable. I will not use this pharmacy again. Two nights of pain and discomfort before I can get relief. Neither ‘script is an uncommon medicine.
Reliability, which is the most important quality as someone who has migrated from another state. I’ve had terrible luck at other pharmacies but this one is reliable and trustworthy to fill the medication and excellent at communication if you call ahead of time.
Staff here are always lovely. But call ahead and double check if you have a vaccine appointment. I showed up at 2:30pm for my scheduled appointment, and was told they had run out of my vaccine that morning (!?). Inventory management, much? Disappointed.
I have just waited 25 minutes for two people ahead of me to be served. Judgment calls need to be made as to when to refer the person at the counter to a support line or to work the line while things that take longer get solved.
Great experience here. The staff is efficient and friendly, I never have to worry about picking up a medication here. If there is ever a problem, (which is rare), they are quick to resolve it and have excellent communication.
The people working at the pharmacy are always helpfull and very knowlegeable. The manager, Kevin, is so helpful and explains the medications one is taking so you always understand. I would never go any place else.
The folks at the pharmacy are brilliant: highly competent, selfless, kind, and patient problem-solvers. They deliver unfailingly every time. I’m so grateful to trust them with my scrips. I highly recommend them!
Often prescribed medications are not ready even after receiving an e mail saying they were. Good service for vaccines. Seems to be under stocked on diabetic essentials. Best we can expect these days. Too bad!
The lady pharmacist treated me as a 'drug seeker'. Despite the FACT I hadn't filled the Rx for 9 months. Bull****. I feel because I'm on the state Oregon health insurance. Prejudice!!
Called on Friday and they said they had 200+ pills available of my medication, ao I got my prescription transferred and now they're telling me they have 0. Don't trust them.
Usually a 20 minute wait to be told that my prescriptions are not ready despite the app saying they should be. The staff are super kind but Fred Meyer should hire more.
I think the staff are trying but we have had too many errors and issues with medications similar to other reviewers. Be careful and maybe try a different pharmacy.
The non Rx section, "drug store" aisles stay well stocked and reasonably priced, plus sometimes special closeout cheapness on vitamins, supplements, etc…
I go here regularly and have always had perfectly fine service. An automated email or text when your prescription is ready would be nice.
I would never trust them with my medication. I was repeatedly handed the wrong prescription and then charged twice what I normally pay.
I never have an issue when going to get my prescription. Only once we're they short on my meds but gladly did a partial fill.
Great service and no hassle. However, there can be quite a long wait due to customers.
Excellent service! The pharmacists were very helpful, supportive, and friendly …
Courteous employees, caring and friendly staff. Very happy that my pharmacy is there.
Rockstar staff here, I wish I still lived close by. Fast and reliable!
Very friendly, responsible, and informed staff. They communicate well.
I love this pharmacy. Also, fyi, they match competitors coupons!
