CASH ONLY! This is the only place in recent times that has made me feel the necessity of going to the bank to take out cash. The "extra effort" was well worth it. I've only been here once but will be back again and again after finding out this is just a few minutes drive from our house. Many of the things on menu were frozen the day I visited, but that didn't stop me - I bought the strawberry melon buns, daifuku mochi and red bean donuts which were fresh that day. I served the red bean donuts as dessert after a meal of takeout sushi with friends, and loved how fluffy the texture was. The dough was also not super thick so it wasn't too heavy for a dessert! The strawberry melon buns I let thaw in the fridge overnight and then I heated gently in microwave the next day - it was still really, really tasty. And the daifuku was the perfect texture and sweetness. I'm a huge mochi fan and will be picking up the ice cream mochi next time! Normally I'm a little hesitant in buying frozen baked goods but the things I purchased thawed out nicely and didn't have that dreaded frozen taste. This is primarily a commercial bakery it seems, and I'm so glad we have the opportunity to buy direct!

We came for the curry buns and daifuku but bought so much more ♡ We bought the Shoku-pan (a very tasty loaf of bread), curry buns(japanese curry), red bean doughnuts, melon bread(1 of each flavour + an extra vanilla. You can buy 5 and get a 6th free), green tea cream puffs, daifuku (kinako mochi), and cream bread. We love our baked goods. Sadly we were too early for the fresh stuff, but we took it home to heat it up and it was absolutely delicious ♡ I may have heated mine too long so they're darker than they should be fresh. The red bean paste is amazing ♡♡♡♡♡ Will definitely go back again and again and hopefully catch some of the fresh goodies. And will definitely have to order curry buns ahead of schedule as my partner said he could have eaten 10 of them easily because they were so delicious. Also the family that runs it was very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend this place! Also, remeber they are cash only.

Great little shop. Easy to miss as it's at the side of the building. Lots of items that remind me of living in Japan. Shokupan and all the buns we had were excellent. Bring cash as debit and credit are not options. Also be prepared that most if not all items are frozen for you to bring home and thaw. Everything thaws well... But I'd prefer to get the shokupan fresh. But they are the best daifuku in town by a long shot.

My mother got a bag of the strawberry ones and I can smell the strawberry from the other side of the kitchen! The melon bread is fantastic and reminds me of the ones a friend of mine used to make. We will most definitely be back for more, definitely worth the trip and price!

This place is Cash Only, and is a wholesale bakery, selling mainly frozen buns and good. But don't let that fool you, cuz the buns are amazing after they thaw. Personally, I put them in the microwave for 15 seconds to warm them up and I find that they taste amazing. Tried all the melon bun flavors and all are really good. If you're in the area or are craving some buns, definitely check this place out.

Went to check out this place for the first time. I was in luck since the fresh buns just came out of the oven around 2pm. Got some red bean buns, melon-buns and some mochi dessert that I often see at the Asian markets. Heard about this place through a friend and was pleased to find it. Doesn't have a nice store front but owner was really friendly and the buns were so yummy!! Will go back for more

Local family owned business in Calgary so I had to support since the staff was friendly, quick, and very accommodating given my tight schedule. Ate the mochi I got right away and it was delicious. I can't wait to try the beef curry and red bean buns I got later today. I'll definitely be dropping by again when I run out of the big order I just picked up.

They usually freeze the buns, so make sure to call ahead before you arrive if you wanna taste fresh and hot buns. They offer traditional and authentic Japanese style bread and mochi and taste great except portions are kinda small and I wish that they got creams inside for those melon buns. Overall good

Cream puff was OK - the cream was oddly grainy. Strawberry melon bun was AMAZING - it genuinly tasted like a strawberry pocky - best taste ever. Matcha melon bun was OK - i got more a taste of pandan than matcha....service was quick. Products were prebaked frozen, but thaw in a couple minutes.

Love their products and one of the most amazing bakeries I've been to. They have a nice selection of items to choose from, ranging from melon buns to red bean donuts to cream buns. Personally I recommend the red bean donuts (especially when it's fresh) and the cream buns.

Worst experience ever in Calgary! Staff who work there is super rude! Door is half locked in working hour, and she slammed the door on me after I ask them if I can get cakes there! I would never go back again and rather spend my money to somewhere else!

My boyfriend and I have been hunting for authentic mochi ice cream for the longest time. This bakery has the most genuine and talented people. We found what we were looking for and the mochi ice cream was AMAZING. We will definitely come back! ❤️ …

The red beans are incredible!!! Owners are friendly and helpful, cute little bakery with amazing selection. Definitely recommend and I will be back :) Friendly tip it’s cash only so make sure to bring enough because they’ve got mouth watering choices!

  • Vince C.

Pretty tasty Melon buns. The cream puffs are really good as well. Like other reviews have mentioned, you might want to call ahead to see when they have fresh buns. I was to early I suppose so I had frozen packed ones, still really good though.

  • Elpoca Mountain

We were told about this place by a Japanese friend. It's a little hard to find: it's on the side of the strip mall. Delicious melon buns. We were lucky to get them fresh out of the oven. Authentic Mochi; like being back in Kyoto.

Fosters sells amazing fresh and frozen Japanese sweets and baked goods. If you've never tried shokupan or melonpan before, this is the place to get it. One thing to note is that they are a cash-only facility.

  • Andrew Montague

Amazing red bean donuts! So good! This is commercial bakery, which does a bit of retail. Cash only. Best to call ahead and see what they are making, otherwise it may be frozen. Definitely coming back.

  • Taylor B

Suuuuper delicious melon buns, mochi, curry buns... Pretty much everything in the store is deliciously chilled and fresh. Owner was kind and made a good recommendation. Definitely try it out.

  • egao 30

Delightful owners, delicious bread. Part of my family is Japanese and we found a truly authentic Japanese bakery in Calgary! So happy we found it! The one-star review sounds phony to me...

  • Marie Hong

Best melon bread I've had! They flash freeze them so they can be kept in your freezer and reheated in the microwave. You can also get them fresh depending on the time you visit.

  • Van Pham

Looks a little strange inside, like walking into office/industrial bakery but definitely take the chance and go in! Amazing mochi ice cream and melon buns for a fantastic price!

  • Carolyn Abdo

I’m a huge fan of mochi and recently moved to Calgary. I am absolutely in love with the mochi and owner. Cute little shop make sure to bring cash + tip. ;)

  • TurtIe

Loved it! I tried a bunch at the festival a few days ago and I loved the buns that had cream within them as well as the melon buns and red bean buns

  • J D

The melon bun was yummy! they only offered the cream puffs as frozen but it was the best tasting cream puffs ever, very light and not too sweet

  • SomeRandom Dude

Little hard to find but really good buns and very friendly staff. Would recommend going when buns are fresh if you want to eat them right away

  • Jummie

Cash only, family owned business (the father looks like the logo). Curry buns, melon buns and mochi are inexpensive and taste very good.

  • Vanessa Mai

Taro mochi ice cream is absolutely insane, so delicious. The daifuku mochi is also the best mochi I've ever had, including in Japan.

  • Parker Wong

This small shop sells amazing Japanese daifuku mochi and red bean buns! Like to stop by here for some sweets when I am in the area.
