Nice funeral home but Expensive burial and monument. They are in business to make money out of you with closed curtain or get you into deeper debt with their finances. They seem to pitch everything they want you to do and never suggest for cost saving. I wanted a stone from a different vendor for my grandmother, but they wouldn’t want to discuss it much detail and recommend their vendors only. At the end I choose their vendor because my grandmother was already buried in their yard. After researching I found out their stone monument is based out of Atlanta, GA. Seriously, in my head I’m like there are so many vendors who can provide your customer stone monument in Charlotte or near Charlotte why choose a vendor out of State. Money for shipping and markup I guess. Anyway I was told 8 to 12 weeks for completion, but it wasn’t finish until week 15, plus another 2 weeks of calling to have it install. Reach out to manager and then 2 days later it was install on a rainy day. Their excuses, low on staff training that’s why it too took so long...BS! Why wasn’t I not notified? Like I said excuses. I saw 4 to 5 guys burying my grandmother’s grave and you say we are low staffing...BS! They make so much money on the backend and can’t hire the right amount of experience staff to serve their customers. That don’t make sense to me. Not happy experience. STAY away from West Forest Lawn Cemetery. Pick a cemetery that willing work with you on third party vendor monument and serve you fairly.
I hope I can save someone the nightmare of using this business while grieving. I would not have believed that someone who is clearly in management could be so disrespectful. Right after my father passed and my family was meeting with a gentleman to view potential gravesites, a young man asked us to follow him in his car to view an area we were interested in. His manager came out and started loudly yelling “Did you take my keys off of my desk? Better bury yourself out there before you come back.” My family and I just stared at each other, shocked that he would be so utterly rude towards a grieving family. When we returned and were about to step into an office to view pricing specifics, the young man’s manager stopped us, repeatedly shouting “How long do you think this will take?” to his employee. The young man said “Not long” The manager kept pushing for the exact time, not letting my family go in and sit. He kept pressing, “Give me a time. Theresa needs to leave.” The employee finally told him “15 minutes.” Our Dad had just died. My Mom was with us. 15 minutes was our rudely conveyed timeslot to select a gravesite, look at headstones, and ask any questions. This was the most unprofessional business I’ve ever had the displeasure of dealing with.
I am giving a generous three star review. From the time I called I had a representative that just emailed me a lot of paperwork and try to reach her back was a nightmare. Then I was handed off to another representative because she went on vacation. I was planning a funeral from out of town and when I came in town I felt like I was not given all the information, and was rushed to pick all the arrangements for the funeral because no one would take a call prior to us coming in person. When it was time to verify the plot, I we were told to hurry up they had other appointments! While my husband and son were waiting in the lobby(because they refused to let them in their office with myself, dad and brother), they were told to go outside or be quiet because there was another family there. By no means were theses grown adults who were grieving being loud or making a disturbance. I have called since the funeral on 11/5/22, to speak to someone about the issues and about a headstone for my mother’s grave….. I’m still waiting on Forest Lawn West to call. I will use another Dignity Facility when my father passes but I will not use Forest Lawn West.
Forest Lawn West was the cemetery my family turned to after losing my dad. After all, many friends and family had been laid to rest there over the years….surely this was the best place to go in our time of need as well. Right? Wrong. Maybe at one time they had reasonable prices and a compassionate staff. We left their offices in disbelief…wondering if we had been unwittingly cast in a funeral home themed SNL skit featuring a manager who ruined every potential “sale” with tasteless jokes and a stopwatch. All that aside, do your research my friends. We were quoted $7500 for JUST the gravesite. Every other cemetery we contacted within 20 minutes of Northwest Charlotte was less than HALF that for the same thing (just a peaceful gravesite where you can use an upright granite headstone). I understand, making a profit, but at a certain point, it goes beyond the pale.
My mother passed away in December, we are out of state and Stan Stone was assigned to us to facilitate our mother's graveside service. We came from out of state, drove to your location on Freedom Drive, Stan Stone came out, after driving the long distance that we came, we were not offered a seat in a room to go over the contract that I made with Paul Helton in July of 2010. Our family seemed like a bother to Mr. Stone. So we had a graveside service without clergy, I was contacted Vernelle Young, General Manager who listened to my concerns and indicated she would find out what happened and call me back. So on Saturday I received a phone call from her as promised , our situation was resolved to our satisfaction and Forest West (Dignity) has earned our business again. Thank you and God Bless!
Tragedy struck my family in short order as it took my mom and shortly thereafter my dad. After we received the news we reached out to Miss Shelly at Forest Lawn and she took the reigns with out any hesitation. She was no-nonsense and firm with the requirements while still being a compassionate friend and empathetic ear. Her experience as well as her ability to make things happen provided us the confidence to know we chose the right person I wouldn't just recommend her, I would highly recommend her to anyone in need of not just a good cemetery director but an overall quality person and friend. Thank you for all you do, you are appreciated! Wish I could give more than 5 stars.
Not 2 minutes after graveside service was over they was talking flowers down in front of us and 5 minutes later hear comes a tractor fill with dirt. Can u not way 10 minutes for someone to leave this not something a son want to see. After that we going in the furnal home to buy engraving after getting the price of nearly 600 for a name and dates we waited 45 minutes for her to come back to make a long story short we left and found someone else for half the price and twice as caring would recommend raking your business elsewhere. Last my aunt warned me these was not the easiest people to deal with
I’m very upset I just buried my grandfather we spent a lot of money buried him we went into The office to ask about the plaques the lady said for a concrete plaque it would be $630 for the installation and everything and then when my dad went up there to pay he paid 1200 something dollars . I think that is very unfair and she needs to get her information right. I called today to speak to the manger he said he is gonna look into it . It breaks my heart to know anyone will screw anyone over for a couple of hundred dollars . I’m pissed
Horrible how they treat our loved ones as well as us. They mow the grass way to short it always looks like dirt no grass I planted flowers and now I can't water them or the dried burnt grass. For about 2 mths they been with out water and now we were told there won't be water cause it's to expensive to replace or repair the lines we was told there's water at a tower we can carry it just wonderful sense l just had a stroke and now can no longer use my left side. And now the lady who runs it just hides when we call or go there
Worst place ever..my dads passing was hard and unexpected .. we were told we could pick him up at the end of the week. My dad laid in a cooler for 21days when I explained to the the funeral director that it was very hurtful and disturbing to my family to know he was in a cooler for 7 days but 21d was unacceptable they asked me why was this disturbing it wasn't like we neglected him 22 days and we still don't have him home..and no one even cared enough to call and let my mom know that their machine had broke down for 2wks
I lost a loved one my grandmother. My first grandparent but also my first loss as an adult. This has been an incredibly difficult time for my family. We reached out to Alexis Gorbey for help arranging. She has been the kindest, most accommodating, selfless person in the world. My family and I could not be more grateful for her and this team. She was so organized and supportive. Honestly I could not imagine working with anyone else.
Forest Lawn West Cemetery provided excellent services during my time of grief. The Funeral Director Raphael Bigby represented the company perfectly. He was very knowledgeable, caring, and professional. I pray you don't need this type of service but if you do, I highly recommend Forest Lawn West Cemetery. I have used different funeral homes in the past and the service was no comparison to Forest Lawn West.
My mother and stepdad are both buried there. Mom in 1996 and Dad in 2003. We had no issues until the new owners took over. We live out of town but every time we have been there the lawn looked like it had not been mowed in weeks. We have asked for mom's headstone to be fixed were it is sinking but it has not been done and that was 3 years ago. Very disappointed with the new owners.
They were extremely professional, sensitive and understanding to our grief. Culturally, we handle funerals differently and they were more than willing to accommodate our needs and still do to this day (and it’s been almost 10 years!). We cannot thank this amazing team enough for how they’ve taken care of our loss.
I have trusted this location with 2 very important men in my life, my husband and now my son. I appreciate all that was done for me. Do not hesitate to let Raphael and the rest of the staff provide you service. All are exceptional people starting at the front desk and through the whole process.
Forest Lawn was great! Professional staff. It was a 1-stop shop for our burial needs: plots, chapel, waiting room for family, and reception hall for the repast. They took good care of our family during this time of bereavement. I would highly recommend them!
Raphael was very compassionate guiding us through the service we wanted and the love of my life for 66 years Shirley's health was so bad for so long she really looked ill but they made her look the best she had looked in 10 years I was so happy, thanks guys.
Two years later, my grandmother still hasn’t been buried in the plot that my grandfather purchased in 1968. He’s been there for 53 years while she is in a velvet box in her bedroom. All because of red tape. They were so unhelpful. Shameful.
My family has always used Forest Lawn West and they have always done a fantastic job for us. I can’t believe what an amazing job they did this time during the pandemic. Our funeral director was exceptional.
The assistance that was offered by father in 2012 made this process easier with him taking care of all aspects of his final resting. Christine was very helpful and respectful.
Ms. Alexas is wonderful. She is aways there to answer any questions and made our experience great. Mr. Raphael was very helpful aswell. Their services are worth every penny.
Rafael and Ganet were amazing!!! Stan took great care of us the day of the service. My family is grateful for the personal care given to us during a very difficult time.
Tôi đến thăm mộ của bố tôi và tôi không biết ảnh của bố tôi họ cào đi và những bông hoa cũng không thấy đâu.tôi không biết ai đã làm thế thật độc ác với người đã khuất
Your service is what every family needs during their time of sorry. Your funeral service director Kristina Sloan is amazing. Her main focus is the family she serves.
Derek Hunter and his staff was amazing helping me deal with my grandmother’s death in September. You felt like a member of their family and they went the extra mile.
Forest Lawn took care of all our needs. I was however disappointed that they did not handle the preparation of our funeral brochure like they did for my Dad in 2006.
Staff was very helpful and thoughtful. Its a beautiful place. 5hey worked hard to provide you what you needed or wanted. Great experience. I would highly recommend.
I really appreciate the customer service. Raphael and his team walked me through the process and took care of every detail! I would highly recommend them!
Michelle went above our expectations. She took the time to make sure everything went well during a difficult and challenging time for our family.
Everyone was very nice and kind. They went out of their way to provide whatever was needed for my father’s funeral. I’m very thankful for that.
Very nice place! Everyone is so calm and understanding of any situation! Big thanks to Raphael for helping us in our time of need.
