"Probably my favourite museum in London"

Probably my favourite museum in London. If you’re interested in Astrology and Time then definitely worth a visit. Museums about 2 hours (slowly walk through). Not that expensive for what you get. The “audio book” is free and played from your phone. Make sure your phones fully charged and bring headphones. There’s a cafe halfway through, outdoor court. My favourite quote (see if you can find in museum): “‘Time is money… time is precious… time must not be wasted.’ Our perception and use of time has changed dramatically as our society has become more urban and industrialised. With increased opportunities for travel, sports, leisure and learning, we need complex timetabling and timekeeping to fit it all into our lives. Punctuality and ‘keeping to schedules’ are important personal, business and social virtues in our modern world.”

Watch closely! Flamsteed House, built between 1675-1676, was Greenwich's original principal observatory. The building is named after John Flamsteed (1646-1719), the first Astronomer Royal of the Royal Observatory, Greenwich. The Ocatgon Room, the main workspace for the astronomers, is particularly interesting. Furthermore, a lot of attention is paid to time measurement and the longitude issue. Extremely interesting!
Original building of the Royal Obsevatory built by Christopher Wren.It became a museum of astronomical and navigational tools. Notable exhibits include John Harrison's pioneering chronometer, known as H4, and also the octagon room can be seen here. I found it very interesting and highly recommend it to everyone.

I was pleasantly surprised by how interesting the visit was into this house/museum. Ticket price is £16 which includes access to the prime meridian. An audio tour is provided via a handset (bring your own earphones) and offers a thorough explanation of this areas history and the development of time keeping. Absolutely worth the ticket price and a visit inside.
Shout-out to I believe his name was Dan, father worked there for years before him. Truly an employee that enjoyed his job, made my trip here! Made sure I had seen the most intricate details of the clocks before I left. I would have been sad to have missed them and learned about them when I had already crossed the Atlantic!

Absolutely a wonderful place to visit. This is the original House of all the astronomer Royals. Here you can see all the history of the devices used to to measure longitude as well as astronomical observations. .If you are a fan of History than this is a must places to visit. This place also has all four John Harrison Marine Timepieces.
After reading longitude, I had always wanted to see Harrisons clocks. They are marvels of the modern age. The significance of this place allowed the age of discovery to meet with science. It surpassed my expectations and the wait to finally travel here was worth it.
I am an engineer by trade. I am dumbfounded that the Royal Astronomers accomplished so much without the benefits of modern tech. It was cool to see all the history here

The oldest part of the Observatory, built in 1675 and named after the first Astronomer Royal, John Flamsteed. Designed by the great Sir Christopher Wren, himself an expert astronomer.
Original house for the Flamsteed family and now converted to a museum. Nothing much to explore but shows you a glimpse of what the blue-blooded family could do in the past years.
I like geography and for me this place is a paradise. You can find the first 24h electric clock, a museum, the observatory and the 0 meridian where everything begins.
Explore the history of the royal observatory and its role in creating the world standard for location and navigation. Be sure and grab the included audio guide.

There is a mistake on the globe. Taiwan and Hongkong are parts of China but the globe draws them as separate countries.
Caught the complimentary tour with the story of the Harrison's family and H1 through H4. Their story makes the place.
Very interesting but crowded
