Despite the crowd environment and old equipment I would rate negative if I could! The staff member Josh and Paul was very rude to me and my partner on Saturday afternoon We both the membership in Doncaster for more than 2 years and I have been platinum membership before for long in city .I also just signed personal training contract last week. Today around 5pm when I waiting my partner outside the gym and message him I cannot getting in to wait him finish workout as I didn’t bring my card. I wearing dress today and not intended to do exercise at all! My partner was almost finished so I just wanna check if he ready to go. Then the staff (Josh)came to me and very rude to said I cannot get in and if I get in the door then I will be fined. I explained to him and ask if he wanna check my membership in the system but he refused and saying they finish work. I was on my period feel tired and dizzy at the time, even if I don’t bring my card this is not the reason this staff threaten me to get fine, he doesn’t even wanna to check if I have membership and if he doesn’t wanna check I can show the debit info from my bank account or from online website login. But he just keep argue with me. I didn’t even get in to the door to speak, just keeping out of the door and speak with them. I have been in AU for 10 years and never seeing any staff in an industry treat customer like this, no matter current or potential customer. All the service industry is customer focused and they are helping people solve problems not making trouble. Josh claimed he is the store manager and I never saw him before, if he is really the manager then I would complain with FF group as it is a shame you get kind of this management team. This guy doesn’t care about the FF brand reputation so he treat us in the way he likes. I have paid membership so I have the rights to use it any time ,not bring the card and fined by no membership are two things! We was upset think this is ridiculous even kind of racism as before me there were another guy waiting outside of the door! We said we might cancel the membership. Josh and Paul both laughing and high five in the air said they don’t care and they both finish the job we can do anything we want but if we goes in today we will both be charged a fine for this. This behavior was definitely damage the name of the fitness first and a misconduct in the work place. The negligence and rude attitude is a shame in the business. Especially in this high competitive gym Industry I don’t know how the company can survive with those quality staff members compared to the competitors customer service level.
When I saw the sign saying a one day offer, I immediately signed up that same day as it seemed like a great deal - No sign up fee and four weeks free, for just under 24 dollars weekly. I should have paid closer attention to the sign as it was all weather-worn, the sign had probably been put up half of all times I went to this gym in that year. The gym itself is average. It gets real busy in the late afternoons. However, the overall hygiene is by far the worst I have ever seen in the almost twenty years that I have been going to gyms. The staff mentions it is out of their control as it's a 3rd party cleaning, these 'cleaners' throw rubbish in the already overfilling bins and watches it bounce out of the bin onto the floor, not caring to empty the bin but walks away instead. The mulch literally sits all over the ceiling in the steam room, I felt it too unhealthy to breathe in so I didn't even use the steam room. In addition, the sauna is extremely dirty! The floor drain is not the lowest point in the room! Fluid (sweat and whatever other human bodily fluids) needs to be built up before it drains away. Then it was quite normal to find towels/bottles/bandages or any random personal items for several weeks. The bench in the relax area was broken for many months, it actually had a hazardous sharp tile sticking out for a while. Eventually, the bench got fixed, in a 6/7 week timeframe. When I started complaining about these issues, no one seemed to care -including the manager; I've tried to reduce the high weekly fee (due to aforementioned reasons), however, the reception guy with the longer hair simply stared, then rudely snickered, and told me he could "knock a couple of bucks off'' if i signed up for another 18 months! Overall, there are many other cheaper, cleaner and much friendlier alternative gyms available in this area.
A friend of mine literally got A FLESH EATING BACTERIA from the steam room, which is very seldom cleaned. When he contacted the gym about it, management didn’t even bother to call him!!! The most disgusting and unethical gym I’ve even been to. Management drastically underpay their cleaners (about $10 an hour) and don’t give them enough hours to adequately rinse down the premises, especially the sauna and steam room. My friend reported someone spitting in the steam room on multiple occasions. Management was so apathetic to the issue that my friend had to report it to head office a MONTH later, because the area hadn’t even been cleaned! (There was a clear dried up spit mark) I myself have complained on multiple times about a certain member who sprawls out in the sauna without a towel, drenching the entire upper platform in his sweat. I know for a fact that at least TEN other people have complained about this person, management have done nothing about it. Equipment isn’t reinforced properly, I had to complain at least five times before they bolted down the incline bench press, which was known to flip up in the air at times. To anyone thinking of signing up to fitness first Doncaster - I have this to say - AVOID THIS GYM AT ALL COSTS. (Staff are personally wonderful, the problem lies with management)
Just joined up, it’s the only one in the area with a Creche so I had no choice otherwise after my first visit I’d probably go elsewhere. my friend and I signed up and there was only one guy staffing the entire place, poor guy, I felt sorry for him doing 100 things at once, unfortunately that meant we weren’t given a tour when looking to sign up, instead we had to do our own tour. I was expecting more from a gym that charges considerably more than other gyms per week. One bar bell pad on the whole gym floor and no ankle straps for the cable machines anywhere. Lucky I have my own, but there’s something not right about bringing your own equipment to a gym. It would also be nice if all the upper body equipment was in one area of the gym and all the lower body equipment was in another area of the gym, it’s all a bit mixed up on 2 levels. The place looks a bit messy and feels like it needs a facelift, especially the kids Creche (playzone). There are not that many squat racks or benches in the downstairs section, and with the exception of the leg extension machine there seems to be only one of most machines. This gym needs some serious TLC by its head office. I am happy to change my feedback if these things change.
Terrible place for workouts. My partner wanted to work out but my kid was already on holiday, and I had to work so I couldn’t look after her. So she brought my daughter in and let her sit on the couch next to the reception and wait her for just an hour, She also kept an eye on her as she just did the workouts next to her. The staff at the front desk agreed as my daughter just sitting there and she would not go anywhere else. But after a while, the floor manager came and said it was not allowed to put kids under 14 years old here, even though she was only sitting on couch and not moving. Excuse me? The gym floor manager has discrimination against Asian because I have seen many times that other Caucasian children ran everywhere when their parents were doing workouts. It is unfair. Does that mean that only Caucasian children can sit on the chair in fitness first Doncaster? This is awful as there are so many Asian people around Doncaster but this gym hires such a manager who discriminates against Asian? If this happens again, I will report this to Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission and VCAT. Not recommend this place at all.
The staff member Josh and Paul was very rude to me and my partner on Saturday afternoon We both the membership in Doncaster for more than 2 years and she just bought 5 personal trainer classes last week. We came in on Saturday afternoon. I have card but she forgot at home. We tried to ask Paul find her details in the system. But he said they are finish the job of the day which can’t let her in unless we pay over $300 fine for both of us. We was upset think this is ridiculous. Say we might cancel the membership. Josh and Paul both laughing and high five in the air said they don’t care and they both finish the job we can do anything we want but if we goes in today we will both be charged a fine for this. This behavior was definitely damage the name of the fitness first and a misconduct in the work place. The negligence and rude attitude is a shame for the business. Especially in this high competitive gym Industry I don’t know how the company can survive with those quality staff members compared to the competitors customer service level.
Look I’m not the type to put any negative reviews, but I’m honestly appalled. I have been part of Fitness First Platinum for a very long time, I had few friends within the industry and enjoyed training with them and gave me fantastic rates for platinum. Recently training at Doncaster. The Management were awful, in the way they spoke to me. I'm still in shock. I was wanting my husband to train with me so he could sign up, so he came for casual training. In the middle of the set the manager of Doncaster came up to me and mentioned how I can't have a training buddy, and i need to get a personal trainer from FF. We were doing sets together. I'm like hangon he is my partner, we are training together, I can show photos of us an our kids. It was harassment. I told them to cancel my membership, they agreed to it, told me the terms on last payment cycle. And still money is taken out. I will be taking this further.
If I could give 0 stars I would, Me and my wife recently moved to Australia for a short time and we are moving out of Australia permanently. When we went to the fotness first in Doncaster we were sort of pushed to go on a 12 contract. We were not sure at that time that if we are staying here long term. They mentioned not to worry and if there are special circumstances they can certainly help us. And that was the only reason we went on contract. Now they say nothing can be done, I even spoke with club Manager (Pej) he was also very unhelpfull and unwilling to help at all. Also the Gym is super crowded, most of the time you have to wait 15-20 min to use some machines. Definitely would not recommend this gym to anyone.
I’m a sports physio by trade and highly recommend this gym. Ive been a member since it opened despite access to gym’s through work. The equipment is high quality and the gym is well maintained. Free weights and the free weights area are rubber coated so it’s not a noisy gym. Sled and battle ropes for top up conditioning. The staff clearly enjoy working there and it’s a good environment for training. 24/7 access leaves no excuse for not training. You won’t be waiting around to use cardio equipment, more treadmills and cross trainers than most gyms. As you would expect from fitness first. I’m not one for classes but the free yoga sessions are consistently high quality and challenging. Great gym.
Asked to cancel my account months ago due to multiple issues with gym access (card not working, account issues etc), yet am STILL RECEIVING deductions when I have been unable to access the gym. Tried to call the outlet multiple times - always being put on hold for up to 30 mins and issue is still unresolved. Ridiculous - highly recommend AGAINST signing up with this gym unless you want to waste your time on the phone with them trying to get back wrongful deductions. Sign up with them at your own risk, would give 0 stars if I could. No wonder their ratings are so low given the ridiculously poor service
I recently signed up for the gym, and I couldn't be more pleased with the outstanding assistance I received from Paul. From the moment I walked in, he went above and beyond by giving me a thorough tour, patiently guiding me through the paperwork, and taking the time to explain the various plans tailored to my needs. Paul's dedication to ensuring a seamless and informative onboarding experience truly made a lasting impression. His friendly and accommodating approach sets a high standard for customer service. Kudos to Paul for making my gym sign-up hassle-free and enjoyable!
Dont understand why all the negative reviews. I've been to a lot of gyms and this is one of the better ones I've seen. Very spacious. Great variety of classes and equipment. Reasonably priced . Clean facilities. Polite staff. I have had no issues what so ever! I'm a new member but I like to think I'm a good judge considering my experience. I do think there could be a better area dedicated to stretching and using mats.
I give this gym five star because it ranks high up according to my ordered preferences; I care most about how equipped a gym is, then how busy it gets around the hours I like to go there, then how organized it is, and last the friendliness of staff. Based on this list of ordered preferences, they get a five star! Well, I generously gave them half a star more :) They well deserve four and half star though :)
I have been going to this gym for 7 years and I have always found the staff to be friendly. The gym itself is good value for money and provides all the equipment you need for a workout with the added bonus of a Sauna and Steam room. I have a shower every time after my workout and I find the change rooms and shower facilities to be clean for a busy gym, I don't expect it to be a 5 star hotel.
Great facility. I enjoy the group classes and *circuit sessions as they are lead by a good team of training instructors that help me achieve my goals. *Circuit Classes are additional to standard membership but I know personally that I benefit by incorporating these sessions into my regular training schedule. Overall I enjoy the options at Fitness First Doncaster.
Don't care about the bad reviews, they are so wrong!!! This place is amazing! The staff are very knowledgeable and care about, really take the time to find what actually suits what you need. Facilities are GREAT, Reform Pilates, Classes, 24/7, Sauna/Steam Rooms & heaps of equipment! Clean gym & maintained, well worth the asking price. Keep it up
I’ve been coming here for years. I think it’s a great gym, the facilities are good, the staff are mostly friendly and very helpful, the group fitness instructors are phenomenal, and the variety of classes to choose from is extensive. Parking is generally easy if you’re familiar with the shopping centre. I am happy to highly recommend Fitness First Doncaster.
Can’t speak highly enough of the staff at Fitness First Doncaster! This is my first time signing up to a gym and they have been so supportive and helpful! They’re always happy to help out with any questions. I like that they’re now 24/7 as I work shift work. If you’re looking at joining a gym go down and talk to the staff :)
walked in to sign up today 9/10/23 at 1.01pm - man at the counter did not even acknowledge me, i waited patiently thinking he was busy. another member walked in and he acknowledged them and continued to be on the computer. i walked out right after that. going to sign up to a gym is already daunting, he just made it worse.
Shocking customer service! Signed up to the 5 day free trial advising staff at time that I would be using out of hour, upon first visit advised could only use during staffed hours. Receptionist lady had a terrible attitude and couldn’t really care. Would not recommend as there are plenty of decent options these days.
absoloutly love this gym, i workout here all the time! i enjoy the facilities & amenities, the private personal training sessions & group fitness classes. what I prefer most are the state-of-the-art & vast array of gym equipment that cater's towards every muscle of the body. the equipments appear brand new & clean!
a little input from me... so that the seated calf raise tool on the 1st floor can be repaired for the thigh support pads... because they are cracked and torn... so if the pads touch and rub against the thigh it will cause an injury... and I experienced a little wound... please treat it immediately... thank you
Overall average gym with very poor customer service it’s not hard to smile and say hello upon entry unlike other fitness first gyms where you’re always greeted in a friendly nature The manager seem to be the only person who understands customer service unfortunately he failed to train his staff in this area.
A good gym in terms of all the equipment that they have to choose from, but it is so packed, but even despite it size, it's hard to get equipment and parking is a nightmare on Friday or Saturday nights forget about it, otherwise not too bad for the price, but personally I prefer somewhere more relaxed
The staff here are great and really know their stuff. Joel was a great help answering all our questions and recommending a PT that would help us with our fitness goals. The classes are also fantastic and the instructors are friendly and also helpful too. Highly recommended joining up
Extremely busy most of the time, waiting up to 20-30 minutes just to use an attachment/machine. Attachments are poor quality and not many around, weights also not the best. Things broken like cable pulleys and hand dryer in the bathroom which has not been fixed for quite some time.
Love this gym! Staff always welcomes you with a smile and other members are super nice. Facilities are always well kept and clean! In particular staff members jack and Josh are persistent in making sure the weights are put back and assist youwith any queries you may have.
I've been a member at fitness first for over three years, and the only thing keeping me here is the cheap price I pay. The Doncaster facilities are dirty, and haven't been updated since it opened. The receptionists, particularly Jesse, are
Absolutely horrid experience. Rude receptionists, dirty facilities and oh lets not mention the price. Its not worth it. Customer service is unacceptable, and try to avoid the lady at the front counter, she barely knows her own job and is
Worst gym to go to... I would look at plenty of better and cheaper options. Downstairs has constant sewerage smell. I have trained in total darkness on a number of occasions because of electrical faults. Also trained with about 20 mins
Josh T, Derek, Pej, Paul, Hamish, and Aiden are some of the best staff here. They have great connections with casual gym goers and there only downside would be the new management Josh who comes of pushy and quite intense
The staff are very friendly, in particular Jesse, he always makes sure my partner and I feel welcome and asks when we will be back next. Not being the most confident gym-goer it is great to have staff like Jesse there.
Fantastic facility! Staff and all members are very friendly as well as inviting. Great environment to have a good productive workout at, and such a spacious area. Has all the equipment you need!
The trainers are great but the management is ridiculous! I tried to cancel my membership since Feb this year after my one year contact, and they are still charging me in Jul! This is a fraud.
Why is the casual fee $25?? Other gyms in the area like anytime fitness, crunch, muscle city etc. are all $15, if the casual fee was reasonable people may actually want to pay it.
Some equipment is very old. Bathrooms are in need of a renovation. Ample equipment at 6 am, but at 6 pm your struggling, and you need to alter your workout accordingly.
It's OK. Richmond is much better with more and better equipment. I like yoga and body combat here. Also body pump is good. However it is a very busy club in total
Extremely not happy with the gym facility and service, they contact me multiple times and asked me to re-sign up my membership after covid lockdown.
Great casual visit! Staff were very friendly and it was easy to find equipment and do my gym routine.
The female toilet was broken for more than 2weeks now, still not fixed. Not respect female at all
