Might not have what you want, but does have what you need. I was browsing and considered picking up a certain history book, but decided against it (in favour of some other books). The next day a book club randomly brought up that history book, so I ran back and grabbed it. A certain unassuming magic to the shop, to be sure
I got curious with this store and decided to go inside to check it out. It was a nice bookstore, it was not huge or too small, it was just alright to go around and browse for interesting books. My friend likes vintage books so I bought one, since it looks too old I just hope she will like it since I shipped it to overseas.
Underrated used bookstore! Called almost every bookstore in Vancouver for a certain novel. None of them had it, but this guy had 2 copies. Said he’d quickly grab it, then ring me back to confirm (before I headed over). Found so many other good, current books, & the shop owner had great suggestions for next reads.
I love this place, and the fact that they have Toonie ($2) books. I find all sorts of gems, from textbooks, philosophy, fiction, to autobiographies and song books. They have some books in languages other than English, too! And you can tell the employees read a LOT. They have great recommendations :)
The store itself isn't so bad but a store manager started make inappropriate comments about my 13 y.o. sister's look and clothing. I totally agree with a comment made 7 year ago about this store and I DO NOT recommend teenage girls/young women to go there.
The shelves are a delightful and somewhat confusing scramble and the proprietor knows his collection well. If he doesn't have what you're looking for, he can often make a spot on suggestion. I've discovered some great new authors from him
My first and last experience behind the facade of this innocent looking book store goes as follows: As I was heading to my favorite skateboard spot this early afternoon I realized that I didn't have sufficient change for the bus. No big
I’ve been able to find some gems here for great prices. My partner and I will miss coming here when it’s closed. I personally have never had a bad experience here and I’ve been here multiple times, granted I’ve only ever been here with
Great store, they have everything. Guy knows where all his books are too. Someone here complained about smoking, I have see him outside in the rain smoking but there is no smell of smoke in the store. Have a great day and read a book.
First Canadian Used Books is a small inconspicuous store. The first thing I noticed upon entering was the strong malodorous stench of prolonged cigarette smoke. It was prevalent throughout the store, and felt like all the books are
Laughed in my face when I asked after a certain genre. This bookstore will judge you on what you like to read and I'm shocked that it could still be a functioning business with that kind of gatekeeping. Not impressed
Some used book stores feel more like an excuse for a hoarder to have a nominal vocation. Who, a quarter of the way through the 21st C., needs a copy of Windows '95 for Dunmies? Well, I know where you can find one.
very unpleasant experience at this store; we walked in an hour before closing time and the owner yelled at my friends and i to “stop bothering him and leave him alone.” very creepy atmosphere.
DO NOT GO HERE!!! I am a young woman and I felt extremely objectified and uncomfortable in this store. Who ever was working there at that time had very unprofessional behaviour,
Great place to find new old books to read. I always find something interesting and the staff is really helpful to locate something for you based on your interests.
Great used book store - lots of selection and the owner went out of his way to research a book I was looking for when I didn't even ask! Will definitely return!
Not a bad used bookstore, but I'd warn anyone sensitive to cigarette smoke that the proprietor smokes in the shop and the air circulation seems to be bi-annual.
Run by a quiet old man who mumbles, but then says he can't hear you when you say something. Lots of books, but makes one not want to try and buy something.
I didn’t expect to find this book in such an old store. There are some books about architecture, interior and graphic design. It’s a great store.
Great location and selection, prices are decent. Owner is friendly and helpful, if you can't find what you're looking for, just ask him!
For 20 years I have loved come here. Soon like everything else I have loved it will be washed away. Mi Barrio ya no existe.
Took a pile of books to Pulp Fiction, they weren't interested in any. Brought them here and sold a third of them.
Super mellow old fellah runs this joint. I swear he lives there, he looks like part of the furniture.
This is a great book store for anyone who loves searching through books. Reasonably priced gems here
Quirky and nostalgic with a kindly owner - I've found something great every time I've visited!
Awesome little book store, full of hidden gems. Sad it will be gone soon :(
Peter is so helpful and full of interesting stories. A great bookstore!
So many books! The staff is amazing as well! Will definitely be back.
I like the selection of books. I seem to always find something there.
A mess of books in no order with a grumpy old guy at the till
Great, old style used bookstore. Knowledge owner.
Good used books.
Helpful staff
