Overall - Horrible customer service, agency service only (poor value). Save yourself the hassle - BOOK DIRECTLY WITH TEYUNA TOURS. We booked the Lost City hike through Expedition Colombia as it was one of the few Colombian owned businesses that offered the hike. This was a mistake. We were connected with Camila 3 days before the hike to organise the details of hotel pick-up, equipment rentals etc. After sending queries for 3 days via WhatsApp and email, we were told that she would get back to us - she never did but fortunately we didn't end up needing the sleeping bag liners, waterproof bags or headlamps we enquired about. The night before the hike, we had to ask again for the pick up time - to which we were informed at 9:40PM that we needed to meet at a location 30mins away, instead of the guaranteed hotel pick-up. We immediately questioned the lack of a hotel pick-up, to which we were told "...it’s for logistics reasons". After rejecting the request to cater for logistical reasons and requesting a pick up, Camila said she would message at 6:30AM with an update. At 7:00AM, with no reply from Camila, we ordered our own cabs to the meeting point. At 7:07AM, whilst we were on our way, Camila kindly informed us that a pick up was not possible - a bit late. A little while later and unfortunately for Camila, she realised had also made a mistake with the location of the meeting point and once we arrived at the initial location, she sent through another address - 30 mins in the direction we had just come from. The cab driver was reasonably frustrated at this point and so were we. We eventually arrived at the meeting point, 5 mins from our hotel and were met by the friendly Teyuna Tours team, who paid for the cab and apologised profusely. Even more frustratingly, the team confirmed they had more than enough room to pick us up. We submitted a complaint to Expedition Colombia and the CEO of Marketing for Expedition Colombia then attempted to contact us in the days after the hike, however due to unreliable Minca reception could not align with a call 2 times. After this they did not attempt again.

My first 1-star review. The rafting itself was super fun, and the nature was incredible. However, working with this company when things did not go to plan was not so fun. We had originally booked a Sunday group tour for three but arrived twenty minutes late to an empty booth. Turned out the group (with 3 other guests) had already left. When trying to reschedule, they wanted to charge us the same price again, but with a 10% discount. In the end, for 3 people, we paid $293 + $266. They charged us again by citing their 24-hour notice cancellation fee, and how they had already booked the transport/food/guide, etc. I understand we were late, and paying a late fee would be understandable, but to pay effectively a 90% late fee for being twenty minutes late was absolutely shocking. They made zero attempts to contact us to see if we were en route. They never mentioned how strict they were on time. They didn't even bother telling us they were leaving. Zero communication or effort on their end, considering they knew we were about to lose $300. Ultimately, we were at fault for being late, but to charge your guests 90% to reschedule for being late seems a bit greedy. During the rafting, they kept saying 'Don't forget to smile'. I'm certainly not smiling.

I participated in the rafting experience at the Calderas river with some friends, with rapids ranging from I to IV, hosted by Jonathan, Oscar and Fabian, and Mael as Team Leader. From arrival to departure we were briefed on the Do’s and Dont’s and the actions to perform in different sections of the river according to the challenge level they presented, all of which made us feel very comfortable and safe. The activity was loads of fun and very exciting, recommended for anyone looking for intense exhilaration and joy. I'd like to highlight, also, the meal presented in the middle of the day: a plantain leaf wraps a collation made up by rice, sausage, boiled egg and cooked vegetables. We took some Caesar salads just in case, but the included meal portion was in all cases more than enough for mid-to-big size men. Finally, a special mention about Mael; in our departure rush we left behind a bag with personal items and he personally delivered them in Medellin (more than 1h30m away!) from their base. Thank you Mael! Thank you all!

Expedition Colombia is the real deal - true professionals. They are very knowledgeable on the local area, the flora and fauna, the river lines and levels, first aid, and the things that I don't know (but felt reassured to know my guide did). They earned every penny by making my experience richer, easier, safer and more fun. Venturing into nature via rural Colombia's rivers and jungle comes with some variables and inherently requires a sense of adventure. In my opinion, the safest way to experience the types of fun adventures they offer is with these guys. We went kayaking multiple days with them, some alongside a raft trip. The rafters had a blast as well. We have embarked on kayaking adventures in South America without a guide. In this case, I never doubted our choice for a moment, even though it added a cost. If you're up for an adventure, but don't want to spend all your time and effort trying to figure out how and where to put one together, book with these guys, have fun and go with the flow!

We scheduled the cacao tour with expedition Colombia and it was amazing. First the whole booking process with Benjamin was seamless and he provided all the information we needed for transportation. We arrived at the farm and it was beyond expectations! Andres was amazing and so knowledgeable. We had a hot chocolate and a snack and a lesson on the chocolate making process. He then showed us around his farm and we had a background story on every thing he grew. After that, we got back and conched chocolate that we mixed with cane sugar and took with us down to the nearby waterfalls. We used it to exfoliate our skin and washed it off in the falls. What an amazing feeling! we had lunch that was deliciously homemade. After a full belly, we continued walking down another waterfall, got to swim there and then walked back to the farm. Andres and his family were so welcoming and we had such a great time! I cannot recommend this tour enough! Definitely a highlight of our trip!

I would like to say that Expedition Colombia exceeded my expectations. I did this with my family and everything from start to finish was amazing. The hike itself through the jungle was an incredible experience, having to descend the mountain and jungle to the river was an experience in itself. The guides were very knowledgeable and so helpful with anything that you may need. It is very professional and they made me feel safe at all times. The rafting part itself was so much fun, there were several things that we stopped for and did along the way that made the trip all that much better. That was the most fun I’ve had in a while, I read some other negative reviews on here and they don’t reflect at all what this trip really is about. I would 110% recommend this to anyone that is into adventure and is looking for an amazing time with some beautiful scenery and good people

We did a two day trip on Rio Samana and was easily the best thing we did in Colombia. If you’re thinking of booking with these guys, do it! They’re top notch professionals, everything exceeded our expectations. Mael, Jonathan, and Andres made sure we had an awesome experience on the river. Colombia is definitely a place you need a guide- the area is rugged, deep, beautiful, and full of whitewater. These guys make it easy to enjoy. Honestly this area is just as scenic as any permitted stretch in the states, with more waterfalls than you can shake a stick at. Highly recommend a trip on any of the rivers in the area. Also, they were extra courteous with any dietary restrictions and meals were delicious, including lots of fresh things from Mael’s garden! Thanks again guys

This tour company is really for those who want to be adventurous. I did the white water rafting trip (which was incredible) followed by 3 days of hiking in the Colombian rainforest. Andres was my guide and the hiking/trekking experience was nothing short of amazing. Beautiful countryside and hospitable people made the trip unforgettable. I felt safe with Andres on the trail. But be ready, the 3 days of hiking in the humid jungle and on rough terrain will really tire you out if you are not conditioned properly so be prepared. And pack lightly, I took no more than a 15 Liter backpack filled with just essentials, change of clothes, rain jacket, water, and toothbrush. Thanks for such a memorable experience. I won't forget it!

We had the BEST time on our mountain bike tour! Our guides, David and Santi, were absolutely awesome. They were incredibly welcoming and funny and made us feel like we had been friends for years. The trip wasn't exactly as advertised on the website, but turned out to be even better. David and Santi drove us through gorgeous farmland to El Penol and got us tickets to hike to the top of the rock. Then, we biked on an old, quiet road (no cars) from the rock to the town of Guatape. We had a delicious lunch, explored the town, and took a boat ride on the lake. The views were beautiful all day, and we had so much fun hanging out with and learning from our guides. HIGHLY recommend! Ask for David and Santi!

Our small group of 3 joined another group of 3 for an amazing 2-day, 1-night trip down the Rio Samana. We booked last minute and they got us in no problem! The trip was nothing short of amazing; the rapids were memorable and thrilling, the safety kayakers and guide made us feel safe and comfortable the whole time. The simplicity of the trip was perfect and everything ran super smooth. It was a beautiful river, full of life and secluded swimming holes and waterfalls. We slept in the jungle with our covered hammocks and fell asleep listening to the water - dreamy! This was the highlight of my time in Colombia, I can't recommend Expedition Colombia enough and especially getting on this river!

I did the guatape tour. In my opinion it was too long. They could have cut out the food stops. Your “breakfast” first stop is strawberries with creme, second stop a tomato. Stop coming back a piece of cheese. Also the boat ride was a complete waste of time. It moves very slow, and not much at all to see. I can tell most people were bored on it. The way I’d prefer this tour to work and shave off 3 hours making it a 8 hour day instead of over 11 long hours. Take the bus to the rock explore there for an hour and get food there. Then do guatape town for 1.5 hours and head back to Medellin. The boat ride and extra food stops were a waste of time.

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience with Expedition Colombia. Everything was easy and seamless from first chatting about the potential for tours in the Masaya lobby, to continued communication and information sharing, to the tour itself. We were able to arrange a private group, full day tour of all of Medellin's main sites for an affordable price. We were really impressed with the quality of the transportation and Andrey was the perfect guide for us. A combination of laid back, cool vibe, English-speaking, and great with the kids in our group. He fit us to a tee. Thanks so much for everything it was a great time.

Incredible experience. It’s hard to put into words how much fun we had. The ride to the drop off point alone was worth the price, but that was only the tip of the iceberg. The hike and actual rafting trip gave us some of the most beautiful views of Colombia and a great look into local wildlife and foliage. The crew were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable about everything from raft etiquette to tree species and beyond. They’re also very passionate about sustainable tourism and show great pride for their eco-friendly practices. Would give this a 10/5 if I could.

Andres and his family are the best! Andres is like a walking encyclopedia! His knowledge about every single tree, plant or herb is incredible. Have to say, it's maybe 45% about the cacao and 55% about nature, but all worth it. We made a nice cacao scrub for ourselves and we used it at the beautiful waterfall, about 40min walk. It was not an easy walking trip but again, all worth it. Beautiful sights also. We had lunch, packed in bananaleaves, sooo delicious! Andres and his family have this warmth and kindness typical of the Antioqua people, we loved it!

I went with my 2 kids (12 and 15). It was their first time white water rafting and we had an absolute BLAST!!! I’ve gone on numerous WW rafting trips in the US and Europe and can honestly say this one one of my favorites. The landscape is gorgeous, the rapids were a terrific mix of chill and fun, the guides incredibly informative about Colombia’s natural beauty and history, and the tour company very well organized. Cannot recommend this tour group enough!!!

We went on a 2 day water rafting tour down the Samana. We had such a blast. Our guide Chris was extremely knowledgeable and extremely pleasant. Both Chris and Miles (both guides for our trip) cooked us dinner and set up our hammocks when we arrived to camp. They were both extremely pleasant and positive. They didn't risk any rapids that they thought our group couldn't handle. Safety was their first concern. Everything was excellent. Thank you so very much!

Mi experiencia con Expedition Colombia fue maravillosa! Nunca había hecho rafting y estaba un poco asustada pero la preparación y notable capacitación de sus guías te brindan toda la seguridad para disfrutar de esta experiencia tan maravillosa. Es poner a prueba el cuerpo y la mente en escenarios prístinos y a donde nadie usualmente llega. Todos deberían hacer rafting, es un imperdible. Los recomiendo al cien ! ️

We went on a private trek (2 days,1night) with our two kids (6 and 2). Our english speaking guide Jonathan was great, he told us about the area history/present, culture, showed us interesting plants, fruits... we hiked with a local guide also who brought one mule one way and 2 mules the way back. They took care of everything (meals/transportation), very well organized, we al had an amazing time!! Definitely recommend!!!

El Trek en el Valle de las Cascadas, guiado por Diana, fue una experiencia increíble. A pesar de la lluvia constante, los paisajes y las cascadas fueron espectaculares. Diana, nuestra guía, se destacó asegurándose de que disfrutáramos a pesar del clima. Además, el servicio y la organización fueron excelentes. En resumen, un trek que vale la pena, incluso bajo la lluvia. Altamente recomendado!

Una experiencia y aventura muy bien organizada. Apta para personas activas e intrépidas. Las comidas son buenas y suficientes en cantidad. Los guías son profesionales y explican cosas interesantes sobre la zona, vegetación, fauna e historia. Los rápidos son adecuados para persona con poca experiencia, pero se necesita tener algo de forma física y no tener mucho miedo al río.

We had the most fantastic Paramo Trek with Expedition Colombia! Their team was extremely accommodating for our group of 8 in Medellín for a conference. Answered so many questions ahead of time to make sure we were properly prepared for this strenuous but gorgeous hike through a unique ecosystem. Our paragliding experience was one of the highlights of our trip to Medellín. The weather was cloudy and a bit rainy, but as soon as there was a break in the weather the pilots quickly jumped into action and got us ready to go. It’s hard to describe the feeling of flying over the beautiful valley through the whisky clouds… definitely something we would do again!

This was great fun! Camila helped me book a rafting trip for Rio Calderas. The safety information was more detailed than I have had with other rafting tours. Lunch was very good too and nicely packaged for the group. The rapids was a good mix of level 1/2 and 3/4. I would love to book another tour on my next trip to Colombia.

We had a jungle trek with this agency. Although our guide was very friendly and tried to show local life as much as possible, overall organization of this tour wasn’t perfect. Transportation, homestays were very low quality and we weren’t feeling safe during this tour. Is it value for money? NO.

We had two tours with Expedition Colombia and both were EXCELLENT. The tours were punctual (a rarity in Columbia) and the staff was incredibly nice (special shout outs to Diana and Jules). In addition, the company is dedicated to sustainable tourism. I highly recommend this company!!!!

We LOVED our one day rafting experience on the Rio Grande, everything from the bus pickup to the meal was handled expertly. All of our guides were friendly and we felt safe the entirety of the experience. The rain didn’t hinder our fun and the river had a fun mix of class 3-4 rapids.

Incredible rafting guide, really knowledgeable and friendly. The river is an absolute gem. However, I repeated 3 times that 4/5 of our group are vegetarian and still only one of us got vegeterian food which was infuriating.

We did the 1 day rafting from Medellin (I forget which river). The class 4 rapids were a blast. Sure we ended up flipped and in the water, but the staff was great with safety in mind. Would absolutely do it again and again.
