This place has it all: good food, a combative owner, and hidden fees dramatically raising the cost of your bill! Well, I guess 2/3rds of those things aren't great and drove me to write this review. A 15% Quality of Life surcharge is added to all checks (even take-out) despite any posting of this surcharge not mentioning the percentage that will be added. The restaurant then has the audacity to have a default tip percentage in the 20s% on their POS system (despite being a counter service restaurant) while not verbally mentioning the surcharge so watch out or you'll inadvertently add 35%+ on the bill! I'm all for supporting servers and livable wages, but lack of transparency is not the way to do it. When other reviewers have called out these clearly extremely deliberate and shady practices, the owner responds as if he is the victim and accuses other reviewers of "weaponizing" review platforms. If warning other potential customers of the shady business practices they are about to encounter I will certainly continue to "weaponize" these platforms for so other consumers are well-informed. This place just needs to be transparent and raise the menu prices to their true costs. Buyer Beware: Hidden fees and combative owner come along with your food at Evette's!

I had high hopes for this place, and the falafel bowl I ordered was indeed delicious. However, I was a bit taken aback by the price, which was $17 (plus an additional $6 for the halloumi) for what felt like a rather small portion. The interior of the restaurant is charming, but I was a bit let down by the service. The server seemed a bit inattentive and forgot to bring me the pita bread that was supposed to come with the meal until I reminded her. In summary, the food was excellent but on the pricey side, and the service left something to be desired. I might consider revisiting, but perhaps at a different location.

Update - their hrs & menus are incorrect. They are never open after 6:30pm on Sundays at the Lakeview location (website says open until 8). It says they have pita nachos at the Lakeview location which I guess they no longer have but keep them on the menu for some reason. Also - They never answer their phone! Feel like the owner bit off more than he can chew with opening 2 additional locations in addition to their Lincoln park one. We’ve definitely noticed a decline in service. The best sweet potato fries I have ever had in my entire life - not being dramatic! They’re so flavorful and have a nice crunch to the outside. Honestly, they haven’t disappointed with any of their items. So good!

Found this place very much by accident but so glad that I did! The Falafel I ordered was absolutely amazing. One of the better I have had. The Garlic Fries were also amazing. Definitely a different spin on traditional garlic fries with the feta and sauce but was delicious. Serve was quick and pleasant. Atmosphere was calm and fun. The old school wrestlers on the wall, which was the owners family I was told, gave it a very homely vibe. The food was so good I forgot to take photos . My apologies. Definitely will come back here when in town again!

I love Evetts, as a Lincoln park local I was beyond thrilled when they moved in and have been a loyal patron ever since. The food is quick, innovative and super yummy. My only complaint is that their hours are super chaotic. I’ve walked by or called at a very reasonable lunch time or dinner hour, on both weekends Or a weekday and they’ve been closed. Usually without explanation but sometimes there is a sign in the window. I’d love to eat there more honestly but I can’t suss out when they are actually open most of the time. It’s chaotic but I’m always excited to catch them when they are open And I hope they bring back the pita nachos!!! Those were my fav!

I was so excited to finally try Evette’s after walking past it for over a year and looking at all the great 5 star reviews on google. Unfortunately, it didn’t live up to the hype for me. My friend and I went to grab lunch on a saturday afternoon and got the gyro and chicken shawarma wraps. we also got the loaded fries. The fries were the star of the show and were really delicious with their pink garlic sauce. The fries were not super hot which was kind of frustrating. As for the gyro and shawarma wraps- they overall lacked flavor. Really disappointed. Giving a 3/5 because of friendly service and atmosphere. Would definitely try Evette’s again and hope for a better experience

New. Fast. Delicious. Filling! We live around the corner and have been so excited for a new spot to open! We ordered pick up on Sunday night through their website and it was SO good. We had the meatball sub and the lamb kefta wrap- both great portion sizes. For those of us with allergies- SUPER allergy friendly/ food preference online ordering! Arguably the best I've experienced so far. It was ready when we got there (15 min after placing our order) and the staff was super friendly when I walked in to pick it up. The decor is very cute, even though we can't enjoy it right now due to COVID restrictions. Great new addition to the neighborhood!

Disappointing. I was really craving Shawarma and decided to try a new place. Maybe you can get away with an over priced menu like this in Lincoln Park, but if you want authentic Lebanese food do not come here. I came here for lunch on a Sunday, the portions are small for the price, terrible salad, small portions. the chicken was pretty good but nothing special. If you want authentic Lebanese food I highly recommend the Taste of Lebanon in Andersonville – no frills really good authentic food, cash only.

I originally stumbled upon this place when I was at Time Out Chicago Market in the West Loop a few months back and decided to give it a try. On a follow up visit, I went to their Lincoln Park location. The food is incredible, I had the Beef Schawarma and the Garlic fries. This place is next level with the quality and taste of the food. I will definitely be back and also would like to try their sister restaurant that serves sandwiches next door named "All To Well". I highly recommend this place.

We’re obsessed with Evette’s - 10/10 for any meal breakfast, lunch, or dinner. We go to Evette’s or All Too Well at least once every other week. You truly can’t go wrong! The staff is incredibly friendly, service is quick, and you can tell each ingredient is thought through with care. I think we’ve had everything on the menu and we’ve yet to be disappointed by anything. If you live in Lincoln Park and haven’t been yet, you’ll kick yourself for not discovering it sooner.

Food was delicious, but I cannot support the near-theft practice of small print “quality of life” charges being added to a check without a customers consent. This is a clear violation of trust that a established business will not overcharge a customer on purpose and the practice needs to be put to rest. Please update your menu with real prices, not complete lies, and I can change this to a 5 star review, as, like I said, the food was delicious.

Been working on a house nearby and wanted to try some of the food spots in lincoln park. Found this and now it will be my lunch every day I'm in the area. Fantastic meal everytime. We came towards closing but the staff was still kinda enough to make us our food. I got the sweet potato wrap as a vegan and WOW that was amazing. The sweet potato was crispy and spiced to perfection and every ingredient in the wrap was so fresh. It was a huge portion too - if I lived closer I would be here all the time!!

Glad someone got into this location. Not that many quick food options in this area. They did a nice job of remodeling and painting the building. Not sure I would go back though... The wrap I had was below average; it was a bit dry. It needed more sauce in it. My fries were so salty they were inedible. I paid about $5 for the fries too. That was disappointing. The churro milkshake was just alright. Didn’t really wow me. I wasn’t that impressed with the food at all. Average at best...

  • Laurel Clark

Yum yum yum! I had the falafel wrap - DELICIOUS! So much flavor and I thought it was a very big serving. Employees were lovely. Not a lot of seating options, mostly or all stools if I remember properly. I enjoyed my visit and I hope you do too!

We ordered tonight and were very pleased. First, super-friendly staff. Second, the food was very good. Order the El Pastor tacos, the meatball sandwich, and the shawarma wrap. The tacos were great - fresh pineapple over super tasty chicken with a great salsa verde. The meatballs were great and the sauce had a middle eastern flavor that was fantastic. The shawarma was tasty with accents of pickles and tomatoes. Didn't try the milkshakes, but will do so soon. Highly recommended.

  • Jennifer Tannous

$15 for a steak shawarma sandwich is already pretty pricey, even by Chicago standards, and when it tastes like an unflavored gyro, it’s extra disappointing. I actually asked if they gave me a gyro instead of shawarma. There was no shawarma flavor! There are a few Lebanese places close by that do this wrap way better. (And I’m Lebanese) That being said, I did like the chicken shawarma the first time and I’ve ordered it to go once before. Maybe try that instead of the steak.

IF this was one of the top restaurants in the US in 2022, THEN we are doomed! Is there is no better food and restaurant left in the whole country?! Food tastes like paper. Everyone uses hot sauce to make it more flavorful. NY Times called it "ingenious"! Give me a break please! No bathroom, loud music, water is served in plastic cups. Like every other unnecessary NY Times hype, for sure this is an unnecessary hype!

Evette’s is voted one of America’s 50 best restaurants! Evette’s, which is also one of the restaurants inside Time Out Market Chicago, explores Lebanese and Mexican flavors through a Midwestern lens. Named after owner Mitchell AbouJamra’s grandmother, the Lincoln Park shop offers favorites that include crispy golden fries topped with spit-roasted shawarma, and halloumi tacos dressed with jalapeño tabouli and whipped feta—a creation the Times declared “ingenious.”

  • Jodie Williams

Came on a Sunday around noon but they were still serving breakfast so was a little disappointed because we’d already picked out what we wanted online. I ordered a gyro pita wrap, which was delicious. The meat was really good and I really liked the sauce in the wrap. The services wasn’t the friendliest, but whatever.

I stopped by Evette's before a show at Park West and it was outstanding! I was in awe over how absolutely beautiful the plate of food was. a friend picked up food from Evettes a few days ago and my goodness it was incredible. I want to add that I am personally disgusted by the "1" star reviews complaining about a surcharge meant to help their employees. Grow up people, if you aren't okay with a 20% tip or a potential surcharge, simply do not go out to eat instead of being so tacky.

2nd time ordering from here and the food is amazing! Flavors are great, portions are huge, can't wait to try more! My only complaint is for their online ordering system for pickup. The 1st time it gave me an ASAP time of 40 min. I picked it up after 30 and it was cold, clearly sitting there for quite some time. (Still amazingly delicious) Tonight it gave me 20 min and it was just ready as I walked in after 10 min.

Walked in at 7:35pm last after walking 15 minutes to get there and the person in the front told my fiancé “we’re not taking in person orders anymore because we are backed up ‘til 8 with online orders and I only have one cook” my fiancé said “but I walked all the way here, I’ll wait” and she said “sorry we’re busy until close”. Disappointed because their food is good and we absolutely would have waited for it.

Gyros sandwich was very good (I would still consider it a bit pricy, but large and tasty). However fattoush was below average, and the appetizers we got were way overpriced and not noteworthy. Did not meet the hype, also did not totally disappoint. Will try more of menu and possibly upgrade or downgrade since one order is not really enough to write off a place so well regarded.

  • JahRonmo Jones

Cool vibe and nice place to sit and people watch. Not for long, however, as the stools felt like something I would expect at McDonald's. The breakfast sandwich was filling and the bread tasted good, but the eggs were dry and bland and I couldn't taste either of the sauces. The can of coke was teetering towards lukewarm, but the filler up water station was cold and refreshing.

  • Dylan Ivanov

Amazing food! Small menu and atmosphere but the employees are all radiating good energy and everything we ordered was a hit! Seating space can be limited in the restaurant due to few tables, but the restaurant itself feels very homey due to the many decorations and overall theme. Pricing is very appropriate for Chicago and portions could easily feed more than one person.

  • Anna Beall

Food was delicious and quick. Unfortunately, the music was too loud, so the cashier couldn't properly hear us. Neither item was correct, leading to us being overcharged for stuff we didn't want. Fries were added to a wrap and we got an Evette's Plate instead of a Fries Plate. The food was worth it, but make sure they read the order back to you and the math makes sense.

  • K K

Quality of life tax? Complete malarkey. Doesn't even say how much it will be on the menu. See the owner doesn't like customers calling out this ridiculous practice, but really, you should have increased your prices so customers know what the cost is. It's your responsibility to tell your employees you don't care about their quality of life, not that of your customers.

  • Brian Hard

The super garlic feta fries are straight crack. Super friendly, "neighborhood" kind of place, terrific food. We showed up just as they were winding things down for the day and they didn't make us feel like we were putting them out at all. Will be returning anytime we're back in Chicago.

WOW this place is good. My husband and I got the shawarma and steak plates and they were both so good. I can't wait to try more things off the menu next time. Everything looks so good!! Definitely coming back.

I ordered the pepper onion and egg wrap. The ingredients were pretty flavorful, but, the eggs were not fluffly, and, the wrap was not warmed or grilled, so it was very bready to eat. For an $11 wrap and a tiny menu, would expect the little details to matter a bit more.

This place is another reminder of why Chicago is such a great food city! Staff were friendly, space is small and comfortable, food is exceptional! It has been awhile since we have been so surprised by new flavor combinations. Go here and eat all the things. Better yet, order it to go and eat it at the River Shannon while you hoist a pint:)

Tried Evette’s at TimeOut Market. Underwhelmed. Cold Laffa bread on the chicken wrap. A total of 3 French fries in the sandwich for $17. Seems like we can do better. Chicken was seasoned well and the pickles added a nice vinegary zing. Overall, nothing to write home about. Mizrahi Grill in Highland Park is far better.

I loooooove Evette's!! Great space, amazing food, I mean... AMAZING food, super friendly staff. So so grateful there's finally some decent food options in this part of LP, it was a huge sore spot. Their chicken shawarma fries are so so good. I would eat here every day if I could!!!!

  • Darren Snyder

Wow. The guys stayed open past the 8pm close to serve us…and we are so glad they did! The green hatch chili was awesome…and the shawarma was delicious. They should stay open until 2am. The potatoes under the shawarma are perfectly crisp yet soft - would be late night to die for.

  • Joe Schuster

We're totally in the minority here as most people gave great reviews, but that wasn't our experience. Ordered delivery - chicken shawarma wrap and al pastor tacos. Not much flavor and pretty fatty meats in both dishes. We were excited to try, but this didn't do it for us.

  • Alex Wedmore

Decent food but service is unacceptable. Was turned down 34 min prior to closing because they had allowed their online queue to take too many orders. If you’re going to charge these prices - you have to hire better people. Hope the owner fixes this.

We ordered from this place often. The food was good. But the last time we ordered, there was food missing and half the gyro was burned. It would have been fine if the person on the phone was pleasant to speak to. She was clearly not customer minded.

15% “Quality of Life” charge that wasn’t mentioned to us Very decent shawarma but the chicken didn’t taste freshly cooked. The hashbrown breakfast sandwich was pretty greasy.
