A Estação Cosme Velho, or Cosme Velho Station, is a historic railway station located in the Cosme Velho neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It is best known as the departure point for the Corcovado Train, which takes visitors to the summit of the Corcovado mountain. The Corcovado Train is famous for providing access to the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. The journey on this train offers stunning views of the city and lush tropical forests as it ascends the mountain. Estação Cosme Velho is an integral part of the experience for those visiting Christ the Redeemer, and it holds historical significance as well. It's a must-visit for tourists exploring the beautiful city of Rio de Janeiro.

This is where the train begins up to Christ the Redeemer. Visited on a Friday, when it was quite cloudy. There was not much of a crowd, probably given the weather. No queue to get a ticket, which costs 93 reals (c20 USD). Despite cloudiness, and a member of staff warning us the view from the top would be very bad (no view of the statue or the city), the view was fine. Yes, you won't get the Instagram perfect blue sky behind the statue, but if you're tight for time, I would go up unless it's storm weather. The train is about 20 mins each way and I think it leaves every 30 mins. Definitely worth seeing this wonder of the world.

A vista é deslumbrante.

Estação do Trem do Corcovado.

The line to get the train was pretty long even is it was a weekday, I recommend to buy ticket online if you can. The cost cover the train and the entrance to the park for the Cristo Redentor, and it was 190 Brazilian Real, not really cheap but for one of the wonders of the world is okay! The train is comfy and it takes about 25- 30 minutes to get on top of the mountain.

The train ride was pretty good and you even got a very nice view on a few occasions. We had to queue for a few minutes. Be aware of all the scammers waiting at the station to sell you tickets and other stuff. Often those are fake tickets, I would recommend to only buy tickets for the train and the statue at the official ticket store and nowhere else!

If you are not a Brazilian citizen and you are 65 or more, you will not get a rebate. We bought tickets in advance for 65 and over online and can’t use them and must now write to the company for a refund as it’s a different company that sells them when you come to the site. We are Canadian. Very disappointing service.

Station to climb the corcovado by train. Attention: outside there are some people from agencies saying that there are only tickets for the train in 1 hour, so it would be better to go with their van. But when we went to the train ticket office, we bought tickets for the train in 15 minutes lol More

Unfortunately the train did not make it up, (2pm) and they didn’t communicate they didn’t plan on going up until hours later as we waited. Would recommend the amazing hike up and taking the train down.

It is the only station that gives access to Christ. It needs renovations, because sometimes it is crowded and the place is very hot and stuffy. If it weren't for the fans that spray water, I don't know how it would be possible to stay in there. More

Train not worth, it is a long wait and not really providing views + super crowded. Even buying in advance. You can by the van in advance or just arriving in the station. It has ac and your sit.

Wonderful landscape, but the train has no air conditioning or fan... insane heat and everyone melting inside the train. For the price paid, I thought it was lacking for that reason. Put at least some fans, right? Help me!!! More

This is where you purchase tickets to visit the Christ statue and catch the tram. They do have a few employees that speak some English.

The most sought after location in the city of RJ and needs to be planned! Buy tickets in advance, arrive at least 30 days in advance and be very patient. And I say: IT'S WORTH A LOT!!! Best time, the 1st train!!!!!!!

Corcovado Train departure station! Well organized, well maintained and spacious place. We were very well received by the entire team (who are very agile, by the way). There's a souvenir shop too :)

The place is where you take the train to go to Christ the Redeemer. I recommend going during the week. Holidays and weekends are often very busy and you may want to purchase tickets

Access to the Christ the Redeemer monument. I liked the place, but I didn't really like the organization of the queues, or rather the disorganization.

Best and most convenient way to go up to the christ redeemer statue. Not always air conditioned but still better than the twisty road in a van.
