This place is an excellent resource for our community. I don't think categorizing it as a bicycle "shop" is correct. They don't buy or sell anything. It's a city funded bicycle repair facility that also serves as an educational center for people of all ages to learn about bicycle safety (both on the road and maintenance) They accept donations of bikes, frames, and parts which are used to help repair bikes the community brings in. A cast of volunteers man the several repair stands, they have a full range of tools available, and help when you have questions about how to use that one tool you don't have, that only does one thing, and is only needed for now out dated bikes. If you need a part, you can rummage through the bins of donated stuff and take it for free if you must, but leaving a generous monetary donation will help keep this place open.

Fantastic! I made an appointment, and they took me in on time. Very knowledgeable and expert about bicycles. I have an odd model where the derailers adjust backwards from most bikes. They knew it immediately. Quickly adjusted The Growlers, noticed my rear Rim was slightly out of true and adjusted that in less than a minute. Then they provided me with a new Rim liner, Thorn proof inner tubes, and new tires. Very nice tires with reflectors on the side for safety. All of this for free. My bike has been in storage for more than four years, and now it runs like new.

My experience with about half a dozen visits I have had one fairly good experience the other 5 or soo. I had just been spoken to too lead me out there doors. If I had had the money to purchase the parts or to have my bike worked on . I would not have been making my way to your facality. Although it is my thought that maybe the quality of bike that you walk in with might weigh on the help you receive. It is not as if the bike that I walked in with was on the lower end of a thousand.

Awesome place! They got me a wonderful bicycle and a helmet. They made sure that I was able to ride it and made adjustments to the parts that needed it. The staff and volunteers were very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. They truly care about their clients! Albuquerque is very lucky to have such a great group of people who are dedicated to their work. Thank you so much for your time and your kindness.

Great knowledgeable staff that is extremely helpful, all the tools there are in great shape. I was able to bring in a project bike that needed some older parts and I was able to finish the drive train of the bike for 12$ (suggested donation) and get rolling. The atmosphere is helpful and several of the staff members were bilingual. Truly an asset to the community that i wish was more widely known about.

Very cool place and I wish there were more places like this throughout the city to help encourage folks to get out there and ride bikes more often. Even though I've changed plenty of bike tubes in my day I still learned a few things I didn't know and the fact you learn with hands on experienced workers is extraordinary cool. I'll be referring this place to anyone I can for sure.

  • Dustin Otwell

The staff is very friendly and helpful it is a great place for new people just getting into biking or for people who have been biking for a long time everything is very easy to access and anything you need help with the staff is more than willing and capable of assisting if you're looking for a great place for being part of the bike Community this is the place to go.

Highly recommended for any repair or maintenance. I went in with a severely crooked rim 30 minutes til closing time and the man working there replaced it for me and was really nice the whole time. I was on my way with a new rim in about 15 minutes. This place is awesome. I wish I had more I was able to donate. Thanks Esperanza bike shop.

Best place ever to learn how to fix your bike, build one, or even buy one, should that be the case. I've stripped one bike completely, upgraded a run-down bicycle into my main bike, and am planning on taking over another bicycle to fix it up and give it to friends. Kudos to Ryan and Juan, and all the other volunteers over there.

  • James Creamer

Jared was awesome. She was so patient and took the time to teach me how to do all the repairs so I would be more capable in the future. This icluded fixing my flat rear tire, installing a new tire, installing and adjusting a new cable so my bike now shifts properly, and new grips! Thank you again so much. Jared!

This place and the employees are awesome! I came in with an old GT that was in really bad shape and Ryan helped me get it in riding shape. I learned a lot and saved a good chunk of money! If you have any questions or need help with anything bicycle related this is the place for you. Don't forget to donate!!

  • Robert G

A go-to place to work and get help on your everyday bike issues. They have a few volunteers that know their way around a bike. Plus they offer a bike saftey class and will provide you and your children with a bike for completing the class. You can also donate your old bike to them as well. Great program

  • Christine Mergard

We had 10 bikes needing tune-ups and other repairs. They were extremely knowledgeable and helpful about what needed to be done. It would've cost us a fortune but this is a free service to the community and we are thankful for what they did for our family.

  • Muhammad Motala

Awesome. I love that the city does this. David really knew his stuff and helped me fix a headset issue on my bike. Really hope this place gets more funding and I encourage everyone who wants to learn more about bikes to come here. Rest easy Rosanna.
