First time visiting and what a great first impression! I'm a huge fan of Mexican pastry and baking, and El Bolillo is quite a fun experience! When you first walk in the door, you can smell the fresh breads and pastries, and I was just blown away by the variety and selection! You grab a tray and a set of tongs and walk along walls of full display cases of the most beautiful baked goods! We grabbed several to try out. There's also a fresh tortilla station that was really fun to watch. And a cart on one side filled with more savory breads. Of course, we came specifically to try the tres leches cake, as it was highly recommended, and it was totally worth the trip! Wonderful texture, smooth whipped cream, and a big glazed strawberry. But the soaked milk cake was so nice and perfectly sweet. Also, being a cold refrigerated cake, it was a perfect dessert after our lunch. They also had a nice display of fancy full size cakes. Really looks to be a great place to custom order cakes for special occasions. I'll be returning again soon to try more of the varieties of sweets!

Best pan dulce in Houston! I love the large assortment of pan dulce they have here. It always seems to be crowded every time I go no matter what day/time of the week it is, but well worth it and the prices are great for how much you get!

Since this place is always crowded, it can be tough to find parking but there is usually someone leaving when you pull in or you can just park on the side of the street if you plan to be in and out pretty quickly (I don't see any towing signs so I think it's okay to park there).

As a Houston Native, I’ve always loved El Bolillo and never had any issues before up until now. On 06/13, I had my sister pick up a $50 cake for our moms birthday and was very disappointed at the final result. We received a cake with the wrong color and was nothing like the picture they showed us. We voiced our dissatisfaction and the employee tried to put the blame on us. It’s sad to see how downhill the service has gone. On the day I placed the order the employee was chatting with another employee while taking my order. The employee was very unprofessional and rude. (Keep in mind those butterflies weren’t placed by them we bought it. ) left picture from their IPAD right picture what we received.

El Bolillo is the only bakery I need in my life. In fact, I did one of my final projects for my spanish class in college about the greatness of Kirk Michaels and his beautiful El Bolillo. Living as far as I do from it, though it is a treat to come here and enjoy in the fresh baked goodness. I love everything I buy here (there aren’t a ton of labels to tell you what the baked item is called or its ingredients, just fyi) and the prices are unbeatable. When I know I’m going to have a big family gathering I try to make it out here to stock up on all the sweet breads and cookies and THEIR TRES LECHES!!!! All my homies love El Bolillo.

It's definitely a place to grab delicious pan dulce "sweet bread." The aroma is so exquisite as soon as you hop off your vehicle. And when you open the door, a blast of sweet joy hits you straight in the face. Mouth watering goodness on every wall! They have all kinds of bread there. From regular conchas and marranitos. To bolillos and some others that I didn't even know of. Of course, corn tortillas, as well as flour tortillas. They also make special order cake for quinceañeras, weddings, anniversary, etc. If you haven't come on over, you won't know what you've been missing out!

We are so happy that we chose these guys for our tamales for Christmas Eve. The tamales are great and everyone is so friendly. It’s quite a charming experience to walk into the establishment. The service over the phone was equally as pleasing as the service in the building. I picked up some pastries and some macarons for the kids when I picked up our tamales. It’s all delicious. These guys are on our list of best places in Houston. Thank you for your hard work and dedication to your craft of customer service and great food.

Very cool and clean So well stocked with hardworking staff keeping it well oiled. Display was unique and practical They have tongs and trays ready to use to pickup. Pastry was delicious and just so good. Have not seen so much of variety easily available to choose No price was written nor item’s labeled so was confusing but then the pastries were self explanatory by its look. They are very reasonably priced for its quality and quantity.

I wasn’t prepared for how good it would smell walking in! Bustling with customers and employees alike, grabbing a tray and serving yourself was so much fun. With so many options to choose from (and everything looking so good!) it took a few laps to settle on what to get. Kind staff and unbeatable prices!!! Great location near the farmers market to get whatever you need. Can’t wait to go back!

To me El Bolillo is the place to go for Mexican pastries and fresh tortillas. It's a bustling atmosphere. You start with a tray and pick what you want from the displays. It's great you can select a variety without buying a dozen of each. Don't miss the tortillas being made fresh.

I have been to many Mexican bakeries in California and Chicago but haven’t come Across anything like this. They have a wide variety of cookies, cakes, tres leches, fresh tortillas, tamales and many more. I am going to be a returning customer and will recommend this to anyone craving Mexican baked goodies.

I've been to a lot of bakeries in my day, but El Bolillo bakery is by far the best. The pastries are always fresh and delicious, and the service is top-notch. The staff is friendly and helpful, and they always go out of their way to make sure you're happy with your order.

Baked products are very good but don’t forget the tamales! As good as any I’ve had in Houston. Maybe the best. Masa is done and not too thick. And you get a good amount of meat in the tamales too. Spicy may be to spicy for some, but they offer mild as well.

I am so glad that they have expanded the parking lot at this location. It is very busy most of the time and it was difficult to park. The cashiers are fast and the long lines move fast. Some of the staff need some polishing with customer service skills More

As a non Hispanic visitor I had a delightful experience! The aroma of freshly baked goods was irresistible, and the selection of pastries was extensive. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the pastries were delicious. I'll definitely be back for more!

Best old school Mexican bakery ever! Ok so I might be overly excited I found this place but I was blown away by amount of bread. I remember going into one like this as a child but these are long gone in Dallas. You have your regular Mexican

Personally, I will talk about the cakes. We always choose this bakery for its rich flavor in the bread and cakes, but in the last 3 years a lot has changed. Now they no longer have quality. I bought a tres leches cake and parts of it came

Don't buy the tamales their horrible. Mashed meat and too much lard. Bad taste and very greasy. They use to have the best; not any more.

Love it here. Definitely more choices than Arandas bakery. It’s always packed but cashiers work quick to get you out in a jiffy. They’re are always bringing out fresh breads recently baked.
