Great place in the area to go for a walk, especially if things are wet. It has great amenities with BBQs, covered areas, playground and an old train. On a negative for me is the destruction of non native trees to make way for native shrubs and trees that will take decades to grow and replace the fallen trees. Additionally, more and more areas are being blocked around the lake for more habitat for shrubs and wildlife. The intent of the park was to be a place of enjoyment for people in the area. There's so much land around the creek before and after the lake, that would be better used for this purpose. Originally, the lake was suitable for swimming and boating, hence the boat house. I don't see why paddling on the lake could not return after many years of rehabilitation.
Playground
There's a large slide that kids loved, a good selection of regular playground equipment and an old steam train. Unfortunately you cannot crawl all of the train anymore.
Restrooms
There are a few restrooms. One is near the playground and the other is near the athletic centre.
Dog-friendliness
The area is dog friendly. Most of the area is dogs on leads, but there is an area for dogs of leads
Picnic area
There are BBQs and some covered areas.

I went here with my family and we had a lot of fun. my grandma had been in a nursing home for months without going outside, but we managed to plan a day out. she had such a fantastic time and that was the happiest I have seen her in a long time. she asked to take my phone to take some pictures and I assumed she would take pictures of the flowers or trees but instead I get my phone back and check the gallery to find this seagull. I am not sure why she took such a liking to this particular seagull but if it's what makes her happy then it makes me happy. my son later saw her looking at the pictures, he's always been close with his great-grandmother, and asked her what the birds name was. as she hadn't chosen a name yet, she offered for him to name the bird. so here are the pictures of Monster Truck the seagull who you may find if you decide to go to Edwards Lake Park.

An amazing park in the area. The massive lake and the area, is home to a lot of flora and fauna. Edwards lake has a rich history in the area. The park is very kid-friendly and there is lots to do there. There are picnic areas all around the park, a 1.5 km paved walking trail around the lake, a historic locomotive on display, a large playground with a flying fox and a giant slide, an off-lead dog park, and more... Edwards lake is a great place to visit with family and friends.
Restrooms
The toilets for a while were pretty bad but they were rebuilt a few years ago and they are pretty good.
Dog-friendliness
Dogs must me on-lead for the entirety of the park except for the specialized dog park area.

Great place for a Family BBQs, get-togethers with ample facilities.. There is a 1.5km loop around a the lake, perfect for a stroll or a run. There is also a 400m paved athletics running track in the park along with numerous play areas. Lake has abundant wild life including ducks, black swans and other birds species.. thi6 park is huge and on weekend is very popular with families BBQs or picnics. Number of exercise facilities are spread throughout the park... Ice cream and coffee vans are often parked near the main entrance.. very scenic and beautiful. Great place for kids and adults of all ages.

It's a beautiful lake park, can see alot of people in the area..it was lovely seeing the birds here..alot of different birds in the area, can can even see a totories(Tuttle) in the lake, I could see one but it went under the water before I can capture a photo of it...the wetland was also cool and full with birds...trees around the park and place to sit and place to exercise the body to remain fit... Moreover I love being in the park, sitting in the grass and looking and the lakes and enjoying the play of bird in the silence o find a peace of mind... #water reservoir #wet land #birds

Edwards Park Lake is like a beautiful paradise park. Serene & full of .tranquillity. Lovely picturcule of intense strength and disposition. Made up of wonderful track & path-ways. Trees and Greenery dominate the landscape. Handy local toilets make a break, not a problem. This park ranks with the best in Northern Suburbs & beyond. Thank for a piece of Our Creator's beauty divine. Peter. Children's playground & side - makes this park/Lake, Special.

The lake area has areas suited to young families, picnics, and exercisers. There is a reasonable amount of parking and even at busy times it's not too crowded. If the one area is too busy, it's easy to find another to move to. If you enjoy walking there is a marked walkway right around the lake. The replanting is showing its value now- a lot of birds have moved in.
Picnic area
Has children's area and BBQ facilities

  • Lindsay Morley

Good place for walking, 1.6 km sealed path around lake, has exercise machines. BBQ facilities very popular, more so at weekends. Kids playground, athletics track, trees, old steam engine 3 toilet blocks. Very busy park. Little athletics meetings are held here occasionally along with some of the ethnic groups festivals, very popular. Suggest contacting Darebin council prior to visiting, they will know of any events.

  • Quatermass

Quite a decent leisure area. For kids there are playground items and structures, and the birdlife is always enlivening around the shores. There's a big restaurant across the street. It would be good if there were a bridge further south over the Northern pointy extension of the water body, if it could be constructed without destroying any ecology that is. A bridge there will be well used and worth it.

  • Michael Doidge

It's a nice lake and Park , good for a walk or a run , or take the kids , there are some limited bbq amenities there and toilets, and also some play equipment. There is also an old loco there , which for safety reasons " I think' has been mostly caged off , but I think you can still get in the drivers area. It does get busy here , so you may want pick your time if you plan to spend some time there..

  • Ash H

Beautiful park and garden. The place offers plenty of fun activities and resources to explore: + old train engine is located at the main entrance to the park. + Athletic track for runners and walkers. + Beautiful man-made lake and BBQ facilities are the key to a nice picnic or a day out. + Kids will enjoy the slides, swings and playgrounds. + Gazebos offer a good shelter in case weather happens

  • watzinaname

I love Edwards park lake. The walking track around the lake takes about 15 - 20 minutes. Lots of barbecue areas for families and playgrounds for kids. Lots of water birds. Even a semi professional athletics area with running track e.t.c. Plenty of parking right next to the park. Also quite a few exercise stations at different locations around the lake.
Playground
Huge slippery slide

  • Mel Cullen

A big park that has a very long side, normal swings, toddler swing and birds nest swing. Flying fox, seasaw, a wheel to spin, a bunch of ropes to climb on. 3 drums connected together, sand pit, There are a couple of toilet blocks and drinking taps and barbecues. Lots of grass area for kids and dogs to play on. Also a bridge you can stand on and see the brids ducks and swans in the lake.

  • Isabelle Tran

Large park that has playground, bbq facilities, a decent sized lake and a few mini pieces of outdoor gym equipment. Great escape for the afternoon. Will often see ducks and other birds wandering around. Families often have parties/ bbq here on weekends. Joggers come here too as the path around the lake is perfect for a workout - takes approx 20 mins to walk around the lake.

  • Arthur Tasev

Great park for exercise whether your walking running, jogging or using their exercise equipment on site. Also includes BBQ facilities and childrens playground public toilets as well and a great variety of ducks paddling on the lake. Have also noticed a track area for bike riding how can you go wrong, I think this park is well loved by the local community.

  • Aked K

Not a bad place to spend a day with family especially if you have kids, unfortunately the water is dirty as of now, and fishing is not allowed because of water poisoning. I think the vic government should add water fountain for kids to play in the parks, been summer and hot in australia that should be considered everywhere in australia.

  • Ankit K

A huge park with lake in the middle of it. Walking along the circumference of this lake is a very good walk. They have good ample of children play area, adult exercising equipment and plenty of picnic area. Plus, an athletic track right in the middle of the park. Truly a majestic park. Plus they have beautiful black swans in the lake.

  • Simon Cardamone

Hi, I have been many times to the park. It is a perfect place for walk, party and enjoy time. It is also a great spot for the kids, especially in the weekends time. It has BBQ area, wash room, exersies spots, scooter place, huge lake, slide and a close playground for kids It is recommonded. No hesitate to vist in the weekend.

  • Gavin Mader

Brilliant lake and family spot in the heart of Reservoir. Offers a great sized play ground for bigger kids and a fenced in one for smaller. BBQs and dining areas available. A track, about 2kms, winds all the way around the lake. Close to some nice cafes and restaurants. Many local events are held here and it's worth a visit.

  • Michael Casha

Beautiful lake that seems to always be a give of activity. Often a coffee truck in the car park, and when it's not there are a few coffee shops in just a short walk. Can't whether it's a vibrant nature walk you're after, or an area to have a picnic with friends& family, this place has everything! Even a historic train!

  • Samrakchan Ghimire

One of the finest sporting park in the city. Hundreds of folks visit everyday for jogging, exercise and roaming around. Number of sports like basketball, football, cricket, long tennis, etc can be played in adjoining fields and courts. Also visitors can take a quick sprint on newly installed rubber running track.

  • Gail Sheridan

I only stopped to look for a minute, it's been so long since I've seen the lake. It was very lovely and rested looking but people were starting to flock and I'm sure the wildlife will need time to adjust to the influx of humans once again as we co.e out of lockdown 6. Sorry not helpful I know, but still lovely.

  • gracie lolicato

Stay away. Just joking!! My kids love this place so much, we wanna keep it to ourselves. Awesome playgrounds dotted around, the main one is fenced in. Nice walking/ biking track, outdoor gym things dotted around. Ducks. Birds. Clean toilets. Bbq facilities. Really excellent way to spend a couple of hours.

  • Kallol Sinha

Nice and quiet place spend your afternoon with family. If you love barbeque, then you have that option as well. There are some options of birds watching. You also have tracks if you want to practice some running. A few cardio exercise options are also there. Overall the place has lots of positive energy.

  • Nicole Jennings

Love the lake and creek. It has great lawns for picnics and ball games. The playground is fenced which is great but there is no equipment that toddlers can get on independantly, which isn't great. I would prefer if there was at least a small slide that small kids and toddlers could access by themselves.

  • Adrian Payet

In Melbourne for the weekend and I must say this is one of the best parks I've been to during my stay. It's pretty big, very lively, bicycle tracks and walking tracks right around a massive lake, lots of plays areas and very spacious. Some birds I haven't seen before so it's always a sight to behold.

  • Aqeel Shah

this park is very beautiful. it's very big with a big track for job. on one side it has so many rides for the kids and on the other side it has got a big lake to enjoy the scenery. it also has a public toilet. parking is always an issue on weekends. best for bbq parties with friends and families

  • Angelina Mossuto

What a great park. I came here 36years ago as a girl. Now I bring my grandson. It’s lovely to take a stroll around the lake or bring the kids to play on the many playgrounds. Bring a handful of bread to feed the ducks. The old train is still there. Great for all ages. …

  • Mahir Isho

Beautiful park with good facilities and nice lake. I like the old train displayed there. It's clean park in general, the only downside i see is the toilets but i guess that is standard quality across all parks in Australia. I like visiting the park with my family regularly.

  • Gary O'Dwyer

I love this place. I grew up nearby and have many great memories. The train is a great drawcard for kids but these days it's the tranquility that appeals most to me. There are so many places around the lake where you can sit and relax while overlooking magnificent vistas.

  • Mindwarp

Great park, lots to do and see, great for a walk around tge lake with exercise stops if you're into that, plus a great playground for older and a secured area for younger. However horrible graffiti in the toilets that still havnt been painted after a few years.

  • Andrew Rodda

On a summer evening, the chill vibe of families enjoying the playground, bbq's or simply enjoying the space is wonderful. We take our dog for a walk around the lake to watch the sun set and call and end to the weekend. Only one of the reasons to love Reservoir.

  • Nazek Akkad

I love parks or anywhere that has grass. Just take your rugs and lay down. Family friendly place. Great family time off devices bonus point is that it's really close to shops. Need anything and it's minutes away from you. Highly recommended place for a picnic.

  • Maria Panteli

This is a well kept lake and surrounding park. There are benches to sit at and you can see a playground and mini flying fox for kids to play on. You see alot of locals using the public park, riding bikes and going for their daily walks. It's very relaxing.

  • Kayla Lister

Nice park with a decent kids play ground. The steam train that sits in the park is the highlight of the park. Nice place to walk your dog's or just take the kids for a walk around the lake. There's a BBQ area that tends to get crowded over the holidays.

  • Ty JACKSON

Decent sized park with a surprising amount in it. Lovely for a walk around the lake. It has a surprising amount of wild life. Other facilities include exersise equipment, playgrounds and more. An old train which you can enter is an awesome attraction.

  • Silvi

Much improved outdoor park, playground, walking track area with yes a lake smack bang in the middle. Great place for a walk or sit down under the many trees or park benches. Public restrooms available. Takeaway coffee shop/s nearby.

  • Desert Rose

I been to this place after at leadt 5years. Everything is same except the Locomotive is caged. Last time when I was there then I and my kids had pictured inside but now all are caged. Overall place is good and not much crowded.

  • Fun Kwok

Easy to get to, and the park is very big with a lot of play areas for children of all ages. But supervision is needed if you have a younger child as the park does get pretty crowded at times and there may be unruly behavior.

  • Tony

Very family orientated, wild life is great, ducks and swans even a turtle. Can get a little too busy and the children's play area's are ordinary, the slide is unusable during hot days and the play equipment is quite boring.

  • Azhar

Good walkways around Lake, paths well maintained, suitable for walks/runs. Lots of duck and a pair of black swans. Recommended for runners, children and couples. However the toilets area can be quite smelly

  • rasheed el_sayed

decent park, its pretty big so you will never really get bored, the playground is decent, but when its hot or raining it really ruins the big metal slide, but overall, its a nice place for a family picnic

  • Lara

This place is fantastic for families! The playground is very popular its just a shame visitors don't discard rubbish before they leave. Maybe the council could put up more signage in multiple languages.

  • Scott Drummond

Great place to relax, parks and playgrounds for kids BBQ, walking track around lake , fitness equipment, athletic track ,skate park ,dog park, bowling club ,ice-cream van,, and plenty of birds around ,

  • Dyverze

Grew up around here and always loved coming here still do esp with my dogs. The running track is awesome, although they should really consider putting up fences around the lake for safety reasons

  • Dipa baral

Edward Lake park is my absolute favorite. Go there almost everyday and its never boring. Heaps of events happening around or just friendly people walking around. I like the vibe of this place!

  • Jess

Was disappointed when we arrived from an hours drive and saw the steam engine was fenced off. I’m sure this happened many many years ago but we used to go here as kids and play on the train

  • Anita Chai

Newly renovated toilets and track looks complete. Walk through nature, bring your bikes, play in the playground designed for ages 0-99, have a BBQ or roll down the hills. Highly recommend!

  • Danielle Perichon

Very well kept. Beautiful place for a walk, and the mural that has been painted onto the skate park is cool though faded. Multiple basketball courts though these aren't in very good knick

  • Michelle Berthet
