We recently stayed at the Downtowner Inns in Houston for a weekend trip and found it to be a convenient location. The inn is situated just a few blocks from downtown, right on US69. While the area may not be ideal for walking, especially after dark, it offers easy access to bars, restaurants, and gas stations within minutes by car. Parking in front of the building is a bit tight, but there is enough space available and it's free. The breakfast provided was modest, consisting of coffee, juice, milk, and cereal, and it is located in front of the check-in desk. The front desk personnel were exceptionally polite and helpful throughout our stay. The room we stayed in was spacious and had recently been renovated. However, we did notice a strong tobacco smell and cigarette burns in various areas of the room, which was quite disappointing. On a positive note, the bed was comfortable, the AC effectively provided both cold and heat (although there was no remote control for it), and the TV was a generous 45+ inches and offered cable channels. Overall, our experience was positive at the Downtowner Inns with its ups and downs. The location and room amenities were satisfactory, but the tobacco smell and cigarette burns were significant drawbacks.

One of the front desk guys was unbelievably rude from the second that I even called the hotel. There’s only one website to book from and it claims discounts + perks like an early check in/check out. When I asked for it, he kept trying to make it seem like I was making it up or it was a 3rd party issue. Even in person he kept trying to argue with me when I just wanted to check in. Claimed no rooms would be available for my check in, yet I passed by every room on my floor and they were all empty. The rooms visually are nice, and modern. However the intense cigarette smell throughout is pretty unbearable. I had to buy febreeze to spray throughout the room. The towels are pretty dingy and stained yellow, bought new ones from Walmart & thank god I brought my own pillowcase. PLUS the bed sheets had multiple burn holes in them, I’m assuming from the cigarettes. My last straw was going to put away something in my bag and seeing a ROACH scurry across the sofa. Roaches are the BIGGEST red flag for me & I am so disgusted that I saw it in there. I immediately had to leave the room once I saw it and go find somewhere else to sleep. The only redeeming quality is obviously the price and the location. Wouldn’t stay there again under these conditions.

This place has really gone to the dumps. I'm sure this post may not make it for they do not want negative feedback to be put out there. The room was horrible...we've stayed many if times at this hotel but after this visit I do not think we'll be coming back. The room had missing dresser drawers, mattress look like a crime scene had been committed on it, only after sleeping on it. The dangerous metal at the bottom of the door could cut someone's foot wide open, it was just hanging and not nailed down. The carpet was so old that the pads underneath had buckled and was making the floor uneven. The air conditioner smells like someone poured urine down in it. Bathroom sink clogged making it had to use. Furniture had stains all over it and I didn't even want to sit on it. Busted radio, vcr? Really? People still have those? The refrigerator was sitting on something but the particle board uner it was water logged so the refrigerator was barely supported by it. Overall this was my worst stay here, for the $70 we could have gone to Motel 6, hell at least they leave the light on for you. And keep the dirt to a minimal. Very disappointed I now have to find a new place to stay when visiting Houston.

Leave well alone - room smelt of smoke as soon as you got in- sheets hadn't been changed, towels dirty, (we had travelled from UK, very tired, so slept in our clothes, on top of sheets) then...... we went for breakfast, leaving our luggage in the room, we returned 1.30 hrs later to find a women in our room (specifically in our bed NAKED) wearing my Husbands baseball hat!! After speaking to the manager- we worked out she had watched us leave, then asked for our room key (pretending to know us) this trollop was clearly a " women of the night, high on drugs" the manager clearly gave the key out , thinking we had left the room without handing in our key !!!!! Terrible terrible place - STAY AWAY , THEY RENT ROOMS BY THE HOUR

I visited two days ago with my girlfriend and daughter and have nothing but positive things to say about the hotel. The service is awesome, very courteous, helpful and warm. I knew the rooms were going to be good just by their service and I wasn't disappointed. The rooms are spacious and very clean. Iam very wary of where I sleep but they are very thorough with cleanliness and you'll feel like home. Highly recommend the place if you're spending the night in Houston

Very clean room and very reasonable rates and very friendly and helpful, only small issue is the heater didn't work properly, but since I am use to the weather and not from Texas area, I'm originally from Manchester NH and the weather back home is very different from Texas weather, otherwise the stay was very pleasant and I would highly recommend this motel to all whom needs a safe and pleasant stay and for the price it's very reasonable rate! Front desk was rude. Almost refused me after stating multiple times I made a reservation online. The door did not lock. The water pressure in the shower was weak. The mattress was hard. The pillows were flat. The AC was bad. The hairdryer almost caught fire. The carpet was sticky? How do you make a whole Capet sticky??

If you have all these proclaims rules and regulations on who you have visit during the day then dont think about using this hot sheets motel...that threaten calling the police because we stopped to visit and talk to a prospective client. Worse part of the visit was noticing snd experiencing the nails coming up thru the nasty carpet edges and threshold to the bathroom. Tetanus anyone?

The thing I hate most about this motel is that its too expensive, the cost is about 72 bucks a night but it's infested with roaches. The motel looks to be worth about 45 bucks a night but i guess since it's near downtown that was a good enough reason to be expensive despite the fact that they are infested with roaches, their beds smell like ass, and they lied about breakfast.

Manager at check out makes you feel uncomfortable. Also harassed me about my friends being there as they were helping me move my things out one night. I decided to leave and spend my night at a better hotel. Some beds have bed bugs, a few lights in the room don't work, and cigarette burns on the furniture and carpet. The maintenance crew is nice though.

I accidentally left my AirPods in the room (211). The day I left. I noticed I forgot them so I tracked them down and it was near the hotel. When I asked them have they seen them, they said no. But some how my AirPods was by the freeway. I never got them back.

No compassion for flood victims. We and a couple of other people were stranded in the flood, they didn't have any rooms available and wouldn't even let us charge our phones in the office. Then when we tried to see if there was anywhere to sit down that was covered, they told us we can't walk through to the back.

Please take down that you serve breakfast. Looked up the hotel this morning to issue directions to my coworker, and I called after I noticed the Google data said that it offered a continental breakfast. As soon as I inquired, was as soon as the clerk said NO. Lies. Hateful burning lies. -3 stars

A very hot and long .I was in a lit of pain from sitting om these very uncomfortable concrete bench I suffer with chronic back pain and It was so unbearable and uncomfortable.please realize that the bus riders are always the one's to suffer.especially in this heat.Help us out please.

I came to Houston for the 2wice concert at Toyota Center. I booked last minute. $92 a night it's 5 minutes from where I needed to be. I will be coming back

This place feels it has the right to tell you who you can and cannot have in your room. That said I’m sure it’s because of the type of people that stay there. Families be aware, not the place for you and your kids.

The area and cost was perfect for my 2 nights there. Highly recommend!

Y bed bugs in the morning after I had slept in it all night. Also killed two roaches within the first few hougrs being there. The owners are crazy for charging more than $50 a night.

It's a cheap hourly room that is clean, well-maintained, and staffed with friendly people which made a surprising 3 hour stop for me well worth the $30 it cost.

The check-in counter might make you a little uncomfortable, bu for the price this place is pretty fantastic. Comfy beds & clean/fully-stocked bathrooms.

Have stayed here on many many occasions. Perfect location just outside downtown Houston Texas. Even better price for the location

Standard rooms. Refrigerator, cable and clean. Friendly staff. Located right off the highway, near downtown.

It's okay only thing is you have to walk miles to get food and I'm not sure if this place has breakfast.

Helped saved lives during the freeze...that delayed busses from being able to get in and out of houston.
