David Dettling and Dettling Funeral Home are the real deal. After our terrible experience with Dignity Memorial (part of the big SCI funeral chain) back in 2013, my dad created a pre-need for himself with David 8 years ago, and he just died this year. I have spoken with David Dettling periodically throughout the years to understand how I would transport my father back from Austin to Houston and my mind was eased when the process was explained to me clearly. When the time came, David literally rode up to Austin in a storm with threat of tornado to pick up my father and bring him back to Houston! I don't see that kind of customer service and dedication to the industry any more, but it exists with David Dettling. Then, the Dettling team created the most memorable and peaceful funeral I've ever attended. To be burying your loved one requires a lot of trust and I trust David and his family 100%. I could never truly thank them enough for what they did for our family and my peace of mind as the executor. And as a bonus the value of the funeral was extremely competitive compared to the market. I never realized that funerals could really help with closure when done well and I am humbled by the experience I had with David and Dettling Funeral Home. On the most basic level Dettling is a well-managed and well run company that delivers superior service. That's hard to say with most businesses these days. I would highly highly recommend. You will come away with gifts you never knew existed.

Dettling Funeral Home is an extremely professional business paired with the compassion, patience, and attention to detail you pray for especially when it is concerned with the passing of a loved one. In my situation, my mother lived in Texas with us for 10 years however our entire family live in St. Louis which is where our ancestors purchased plots for themselves and several generations after them. Therefore, Dettling had to also arrange for my mother to travel to St. Louis and coordinate with the funeral director in St. Louis. Everything went so smoothly and every detail I had to discuss with the Funeral Home in St. Louis, Dettling prepared me for and made sure I knew what expenses to expect and which ones I would not or should not be charged for. It went so very well that my husband and I will be planning our trip home to St. Louis through Dettling Funeral Home. Just praying David Dettling’s son has to send us there 30 years from now as we are not in a hurry today. Four words - Loving Team/Class Act!

When my 20-year old son passed away suddenly and unexpectedly, I found myself in the horrible position of having to find a funeral home. Every funeral home I went to sounded like a sales pitch. One even told me they were running a special on burial plots for the rest of the month…. And they never even asked me about my son. They only referred to him as “your loved one”. Come to find out, most funeral homes are owned by SCI (google it) which is a gigantic corporation. In my experience, those places are run like a business and place profits ahead of providing a much-needed service. They offer “package deals” and any deviation from their package is an up-charge. The moment I walked into Dettling Funeral Home, I was immediately put at ease. David was kind, sympathetic, and I knew he really cares about what he does. He not only took care of all the details to make sure we had a beautiful service, I knew my little boy was in the best hands possible. Thank you David. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Dettling Funeral Home, staff and organization demonstrate to our family and me that they are the ‘pinnacle’ of funeral service needs. Dettling was selected for us by our ultimate funeral home back in our hometown. My mother passed away across the country from where she already had her funeral prearranged.
