It began with a phone call from Office Manager Malana informing me that the office had resumed operations and were following strict Covid protocols. I dropped in personally to make an appointment and saw a bold notice at the front door regarding mask usage and personal distance requirements. Into the vestibule then into the reception area and Malana was masked and seated behind a large plexiglass type barrier. A masked and PPE covered technician was in conversation with a masked client six feet apart from each other and from the desk. After a genuinely warm greeting and light "catching up" conversation she offered me an appointment for the following morning. I accepted. The next morning upon arrival, I was met by an unfamiliar person who asked me to kindly wait in the vestibule until she came to collect me. Her name, I later discovered, was Hallie (pronounced Haley- an interesting story) and she was covering for Malana. She was from the other office location in Brockville. Hallie was exceedingly courteous and polite; all genuine and all a breath of fresh air in these stifling times. I was asked to sanitize my hands, have my temperature taken, sit in a particularly prepared chair in the waiting area six feet away from the only other chair available to fill out an extensive health questionnaire particularly geared towards any potential Covid contact and, by signing, accept personal liability should there be any contagion as a result of this visit. I agreed and accepted. I then met hygienist Kayla who was dressed from head to toe in PPE; visor, mask, gown, visor, gloves, and who led me to a room "sealed" by a zippered plastic sheet covering the entrance. (Images from 'Breaking Bad' flashed before me.) We entered, were zipped in and the process of cleaning began. Big difference was that she was not allowed to use any instrument that could produce and aerosol spray that would greatly enhance the transmission potential of the virus. It was back to manually picking, scraping and suctioning. It was taking a LONG time. Realizing the extent of the work involved, Kayla offered to continue through her lunch time so that I would not have to return for another visit to complete the process. This I thought extraordinary and thanked her for her sacrifice. My final surprise was to meet Mrs. Dr. Bain. I had no idea that it was a husband and wife dental team. She too was exceedingly cordial and congenial offering the advice that evidence showed that I am in need of a mouth guard. The habit of grinding my teeth has been somewhat exacerbated during these past months. The office would send off the required paperwork and we will go from there. I could not help but praise each person mentioned directly during that visit and, of course, Malana, for their delightfully appreciated, top quality service and compassion. Going to the dentist used to be considered an unpleasant affair. The staff at Riverview make me feel like a regular at Cheers; a place where everybody knows your name. And they mean it.

UPDATE: My daughter had an emergency and need her tooth extracted. Dr Bains was able to see her quickly and was able to remove it right them and there. He was so patient and caring with her. He walked her through each step. It isn't every day that an 8 year old will leave a dental office giggling and smiling. Especially after getting a tooth pulled. Thanks Dr. Bains and team! So far so good. Sent a message through the web page for an emergency appointment. They got me in as soon as they could on Monday. Went in, and, although they were running behind, they made me feel welcome. I absolutely understand someone calling in and them being delayed as they were short staffed. It happens. They listened to me and respected my wishes and concerns. I will be going back on Friday in the morning for a root canal. We'll see how everything goes. Thanks for getting me in so quick!

All the facility is fantastic. Good hygiene. All the staffs were very friendly except the doctor who assessed me . May be it is only my experience or my feelings. I felt like he wanted to avoid me Because, I felt like he was not listening to me properly. The doctor which i consulted 2 years before at this same place were so great. This doctor who is now working there may be highly qualified or he may have good professional but don't know how to deal patients. I may not go back there as I am not confident enough. Again it may be my own experience. I am very sorry to write a negative review. Thank you

This happened a while back but I thought I'd leave a review. My wife's English skill isn't the best, but the doctor she met had condescending attitude toward her and was getting frustrated at her when my wife had hard time understanding what the doctor was saying. Unreal, absurd experience. I can't speak for all the other doctors on site and I'm sure it's a great dentistry, but really disappointing/frustrating to have my wife experience such thing. I wouldn't be surprised if something like this happens to someone else who struggles with English.

I had a question regarding an implant vs a root canal and crown so I phoned into the office and spoke with Malana. She offered some advise but offered to set-up a no-charge consultation with Doctor Bain and scheduled me in that very morning. Doctor Bain took about 15 minutes to thoroughly explain the pros and cons of my questions and ultimately help me decide the best options for me. I feel the entire team over there works hard for their clients and presents professionalism in every interaction. Keep up the good work everyone! Terry

These people just saved me from being in constant pain for last 3 weeks. The dentist was a soft spoken gentlement and although i misheard him a few times due to his accent, the nurse/ assistant was quick to reassure me that the proceedure was going well and to repeat any information i missed. She also made sure I wasnt in pain everytime, even when i tensed up due to being nervous they both stopped and gave me a moment. For an extration this was least painless oral surgery i have had. Even less then a simple filling. A+ service.

I have been a patient at Dentistry@Riverview for three years. The whole team including Malana at the front desk, Kayla my hygienist and Dr. Bains, my dentist, are EXCELLENT! I just had my semi-annual cleaning with Kayla and was impressed as always with her attention to detail, careful work and great people skills. And, as usual, Dr. Bains dropped in to answer my questions and deal with concerns that Kayla raised about what she had observed while cleaning my teeth. A great team that I have complete confidence in.

I cannot rave enough about Dr.Bains and his team at Dentistry @ Riverview. I came to them as an emergency patient over the long weekend, I was in A LOT of pain getting zero relief from pain medication. Within 1 day he had me examined and prescribed antibiotics for the infection. The next day did the dental work to fix the problem and I could not be happier. The whole team is friendly, professional and really do care about their patients. 10/10 would recommend.

A well deserved 5 star rating!!! Living w daily chronic pain - I experienced my first appointment under sedation. Dr. Bains was wonderful keeping me comfortable & relaxed while working. Best choice of a dental practice I could have made. As a nervous patient now with a medical condition I actually don't mind going to the dentist. The entire staff are very accommodating to my condition. Their concern is the comfort of the patient. Dr. Bains and Kayla (who has been doing the cleaning) explain everything they do and the why. They do their best to minimize any discomfort. Seriously, I would recommend Riverview as the go to practice.

I recently moved to the East end of Kingston and was so happy to learn that there was a dental office in the neighbourhood! I made an appointment and they were so accommodating and friendly over the phone. When I arrived to the appointment it was the same treatment-friendly, on time and calm atmosphere. I moved to Kingston from out of province about a year ago so I didn't have a dentist. Last week I had a dental emergency I phoned multiple dentists with one offering me an appt for April 30th. For an emergency! I phoned dentistry @ riverview and they were able to get me in the next day! I found all the staff to be amazing. I have serious dental anxiety and I felt so at ease here. All the staff are very nice and I really liked the text reminders for appointments. Had a few issues with a filling by one of the male dentists, was very easy to get back in to have it fixed. One of the female dentists did another filling for me and that one went very well! Overall very helpful and got lots of information on what I needed. Had Kayla for cleaning, she’s really great! :)

They tell you they are doing one thing when you book the appointment then turn around and change it when you're actually at the appointment. They blame you for not understanding and just want extra money by adding extra appointments that were already suppose to be done. Don't waste your money. Go somewhere who does the work they say they will do the first time.

Excellent service and attention to detail with their state of the art xray machine. You have an accurate and clear picture of your teeth for you to see right after the X Rays are taken. My dentist and staff were organized and prepared for my visit, especially during this COVID-19 crisis. I came away from my visit satisfied that I was given excellent care.

We took our two young children here today. Dr. Bains and the other staff were all amazing. They were very friendly, kind and knowledgeable. Our three-year-old who had never been to the dentist had no issue, as Dr. Bains took the time to engage her and keep her informed of everything she was doing. Today, I had a back molar extraction and Dr. Bains and staff were amazing!! Little to almost no pain post op. Everything was explained in great detail about surgery and post op care. They also have Netflix in the dental rooms to keep you occupied during cleanings or other dental work. Myself and my children love going there for any dental work.
