Overbilled me and still won't fix it. Lied about cost. Didn't include HSA accounts in my divorce discovery. Over charged me several thousands of dollars. Was told it would be $4,000 and ended up with over $11,000 in lawyer fees for a case that was ordered to mediate by my previous attorney that I had already paid $14,000 for. MAKE SURE SHE IS ITEMIZING HER TIME EVERY BILLING PERIOD!!! This is how she got away with screwing me. She will milk you for money and do little to help you monetarily and then sue you for her billing errors. Rule 1.5. Fees (a) A lawyer shall not make an agreement for, charge, or collect an unreasonable fee or an unreasonable amount for expenses. The factors to be considered in determining the reasonableness of a fee include the following: (1) the time and labor required, the novelty and difficulty of the questions involved, and the skill requisite to perform the legal service properly; (2) the likelihood, if apparent to the client, that the acceptance of the particular employment will preclude other employment by the lawyer; (3) the fee customarily charged in the locality for similar legal services; (4) the amount involved and the results obtained; (5) the time limitations imposed by the client or by the circumstances; (6) the nature and length of the professional relationship with the client; (7) the experience, reputation, and ability of the lawyer or lawyers performing the services; and (8) whether the fee is fixed or contingent. (b) The scope of the representation and the basis or rate of the fee and expenses for which the client will be responsible shall be communicated to the client, preferably in writing, before or within a reasonable time after commencing the representation, except when the lawyer will charge a regularly represented client on the same basis or rate. Any changes in the basis or rate of the fee or expenses shall also be communicated to the client. (c) A fee may be contingent on the outcome of the matter for which the service is rendered, except in a matter in which a contingent fee is prohibited by paragraph (d) or other law. A contingent fee agreement shall be in a writing signed by the client and shall state the method by which the fee is to be determined, including the percentage or percentages that shall accrue to the lawyer in the event of settlement, trial or appeal; litigation and other expenses to be deducted from the recovery; and whether such expenses are to be deducted before or after the contingent fee is calculated. The agreement must clearly notify the client of any expenses for which the client will be liable whether or not the client is the prevailing party. Upon conclusion of a contingent fee matter, the lawyer shall provide the client with a written statement stating the outcome of the matter and, if there is a recovery, showing the remittance to the client and the method of its determination. (d) A lawyer shall not enter into an arrangement for, charge, or collect: (1) any fee in a domestic relations matter, the payment or amount of which is contingent upon the securing of a dissolution or upon the amount of maintenance, support, or property settlement, or obtaining custody of a child; or (2) a contingent fee for representing a defendant in a criminal case. This provision does not preclude a contract for a contingent fee for legal representation in a domestic relations post-judgment collection action, provided the attorney clearly advises his or her client in writing of the alternative measures available for the collection of such debt and, in all other particulars, complies with Prof.Cond.R. 1.5(c). (e) A division of a fee between lawyers who are not in the same firm may be made only if: (1) the division is in proportion to the services performed by each lawyer or each lawyer assumes joint responsibility for the representation; (2) the client agrees to the arrangement, including the share each lawyer will receive, and the agreement is confirmed in writing; and (3) the total fee is reasonable.
We used Ms.Curlin for educational advice and assistance to resolve problems, and get to the best programming possible in a district that is ignorant about special ed services. The principal at the Gen Ed school they wanted to place our autistic kids in confidently stated that they knew how to handle kids with disabilities because they'd had kids in wheelchairs before. Yikes. Alex gave us such wonderful support and helped us make sure we weren't getting bamboozled with the different offers, that we didn't realize benefited the school more than the kids. I don't know what we wwould have done without her. She also prepared the guardianship paperwork for our severely disabled son and represented us in court, basically holding our hands through was was a confusing and emotional process for us. I would recommend Curlin & Clay for any need that falls within the scope of their practice.
I contacted this office just to have a simple question answered. I provided detailed information, and was informed that Alexandra Curlin would contact me back. Due to my schedule, I asked if there was a timeframe of when they anticipated contacting me back, they said definitely within 24 to 48 hours. A week has gone by and nothing. I reached back out yesterday, and once again left my phone number and they said they would contact me back before the day was over. Absolutely no phone call. My phone has been sitting beside me the whole time, I have checked my call logs, and not once has anyone contacted me back from this office. I was thoroughly respectful when on the phone with them, and above all, thoroughly patient. What a lazy, unprofessional office of worthless jokers to treat a new, potential client like my questions don't matter. Avoid this office and don't waste your time!
In the beginning the connection was very guarded. I had trust issues and and was very leery of the representation in general but after continuous conversations, Alexis became a friend that gained my trust. Besides the trust, the sincere knowledge and educational concerns for me and my family will always be the most important and treasured memory of Alexandria Curlin and the firm. I could have not mentally or physically endure the process of my legal concerns without the positive personality and work ethic. The resulted legal concerns allowed my daughter to flourish and prosperous in a safe and nurturing environment. The Curlin, Clay Law, Association of Attorneys is definitely THE choice. I am forever grateful and will always treasure the friendship that was gained. Hines Family.
Thanks to Alexandra, we won my custody case. This was a long time coming and Alex put up a good fight for my family and I. Prior to hiring Alex to handle my case, I never had to deal with the court, lawyers etc. This was all new to me and was not aware of the long journey we had ahead. Alex handled my case with class, respect, and reassurance. Alex was very detailed about the steps she would be taking to help my case and worked with me through my hard times dealing with this custody battle. I could not of asked for anyone else to help get this matter resolved. I am forever grateful to Alex and her team at Curlin & Clay for always keeping me updated and staying positive with and for me through my own doubts!!!! Thank you so much Alex!
Alexandra Curlin and Robin Clay are VERY knowledgeable. They are willing to spend time talking with you and walking you through each and every one of your options. If they suggest something, you should 100% listen because they have been doing this so long, they can almost predict the result based on the information they are given. I would highly recommend this firm to anyone seeking an attorney. Another great thing about them is that they are not afraid to tell you the truth. If they can't help you, they won't waste your time. If they know someone that can better help you, they will give you that information as well. They are not stingy with business. They are truly interested in their clients'/potential clients' best interest.
I have never had to contact a law firm before, and out of the hundreds of hits I got I am so fortunate that they answered call. Curlin and Clay Law Firm has such awesome people working for them. I had the pleasure of speaking to Danielle Owens today, not only was she informational, she was able to empathize and provide any and all help possible. She really took the effort to dig for resources for me. Major Plus: She was awesome to talk too, great personality and it felt talking to an old friend. This Law Firm is my 1 st go to if I would ever need to use their services. 5 stars all that way
Ever since I walked in through the front door, Ms. Curlin has gone above and beyond. She has been steadfast, efficient and patient at every point in helping me reunite with my daughter. I couldn't have asked for a better person to represent me on my behalf. She made me feel right at home and protected through out the entire process. I will be coming back here again if I should ever so need to in the future. If you need any legal help I cant recommend enough giving them a call and letting them fight on your account as well.

My divorce was one of the hardest things to ever happen to me. Alexandra was very supportive and understanding of my emotions and strategically fought and negociated for the things I needed. Without her, I may not have been able to bounce back but now I can heal in peace!
