I called Wednesday (4/20) and scheduled an advanced appointment for an onsite service to re-key 4 locks on my new travel trailer. I was given the date of today (Friday 4/22) with technician arrival between 10a-11a. I received a call this morning (fri) at 9:31a asking me for the numbers on my existing keys to ensure that they can change them. At that time, I was reassured that a technician would still arrive between 10a - 11a. I called the office at 11:10a and asked where the technician was. I explained that I made advanced reservations and am waiting. I was told at THAT time that the technician is in the area finishing a job and if I had errands to run, to do so and the technician would meet me at my house when he's ready. During that phone call she said (basically) the following: 1. When she saw my order this week and saw that it was a trailer, this is unusual for them and didn't know if they could accommodate. *No phone call was made to me this week to explain this. She also didn't explain this at 9:31a today. 2. She said this type of job requires the removal of the lock, taking the locks to the shop, and then returning after 2-3 hours to reinstall. At this time, I said that was fine, as long as it is finished today, when we had agreed to the appointment time. *No phone call was made to me this week to explain this. She also didn't explain this at 9:31a today. As a customer, I was explaining to her why I called them. She then explained to me that they are a small family business (which I acknowledge and told her that is one of the reasons that I contracted with them) and told me that there is a family member in the hospital. Bottom Line: I am sympathetic to family emergencies - truly. This company had every opportunity to let me know of possible delays when they called at 9:31a this morning. Nothing was said to that effect. She ONLY told me about a family emergency when I pressed her for arrival time and follow through. *** Her ending statement to me was: "IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT, YOU CAN COME HERE AND SHOOT ME"! And then she hung up on me. Literally. I understand that this is stress talking but that doesn't make it appropriate behavior for a business. I expect a call back and apology and I will continue as if nothing happened. This is not how you run a business.

Highly recommended. ** Jim is one amazing guy. He was a certified locksmith at 18! The youngest in the state of Texas at that point. He learned the craft from his dad. ** I needed several keys made. These are not ordinary keys. They are a specific kind of key for a high end padlock. The normal key blank wouldn’t do the trick but he figured out the difference in the master versus the blank. He then ground off the right amount of the blank to make them an exact match. He made 6 of them for me. Brilliant craftsman and genuinely nice person.

I’ve used Cox’s before and had very good experiences, but I’m writing the review today because they went above and beyond to send someone from a different company to help me when they had to cancel last minute because their employee was sick. When they found out I’d taken a vacation day to be home for the repair, they called and found someone else to help … saving me from trying to find another day off from work. Thank you!

Cox’s Lock and Key is one of those places where you walk out feeling great. They have a way of making each and every customer feel seen and important. There is so much kindness there. I’ve used them for years and always had an incredible experience. Additionally, they are able to duplicate old keys, which is great for those of us in the neighborhood who have 1920s and 1930s doors. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

When I called, a nice lady answered the phone she made it easy to answer what my questions were, and it really was a better experience than what we had to go through previously with lowes and walmart. They both cut the key wrong! Can you believe that?? Wow. But I think her name was Linda. Don't quote me at cox's. However, it took her one time, and she did it right! He had to bring her another one back, lol.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! They are Friendly, Knowledgeable and Honest. I went in with a Broken Lock thinking I needed to replace it. Instead, they informed me that they could fix the existing one, saving me money. They could have totally sold me a high priced lock but they believe in treating customers like they want to be treated and it shows. Can't Say Enough Good Things!!!

Got locked out of my house and Dan showed up in less than 30 minutes and was quickly able to get me back inside. No need to replace the lock either, that’s great. Very friendly and professional service. Cost me a pretty penny, but it was a fair price and certainly worth it for such speedy service given the situation I was in.

We needed just some duplicate keys; I love how I was cheerfully greeted, looked in the eye and assisted as soon as I walked in. The keys were ready very quickly and when tested work really well!! Maybe even better than the original. The young lady has awesome customer service, absolutely appreciated. A++

In one word: HORRIBLE. Older lady with hair could not stop talking over me. Did not listen. I had to keep repeating myself. OK, you are very knowledgeable about keys and locks. Your customer service skills are non existent. Deplorable. Will never return.

Made a copy of my 06 F150 here at a really good price of just $45 + tax (it can start truck.) Even comped my copy of shop key afterwards. Little courtesies like that make a big difference. Very satisfied with their service.

Worst service I've ever received. Once the technician left, the lock was already malfunctioning. Now the lock has completely fallen apart and my mailman will not deliver my mail to an unlocked mailbox. What a headache.

Went to ace hardware to get a key cut and it did not work they told me after the fact they did not have the right key to copy onto, went to cox and it was not a problem had exactly what I needed great customer service

Excellent job of fixing our front door latch. Also improved the door lock fitting to make it easier to lock the door. We no longer have to pull the door toward us to lock or unlock it.
