I have rated this place a 1 only because there is no option for zero. Having planned a trip since April, I was able to get a hold of the consulate to start working on my visa. I was told it was too early but to send some documents to an email. I did this. After not hearing back from them, I called the consulate again and that was when all the prior reviews I read started to make sense. You will never be able to get a hold of anyone over the phone. It is now July and I made a 4.5 hour trip to Chicago to try and get things sorted out in person. The office was locked. I waited for 30 minutes after getting there an hour after their stated opening time. Of note, I have now noticed that there are no office hours on the website. If you are like me and need a visa to enter into Jamaica, strongly consider applying in DC or New York. Unfortunately both of those offices also don’t answer the phone, but they are actually open and provide appointment times. Also consider paying for a visa on entry. It will cost a lot more but save you a lot of time and energy.

Never going back to Jamaica!!! For many reasons. The first one the information or lack off it I received from the Consulate. I called several times. Once a person, said it was the consul, answered. He was rude and complained about my call being after hours. He indicated my Bolivian mom did not need a visa for our 7 day trip to Montego Bay. Since his answer was not convincing to me, I called the consulate in Washington D.C. No one answered. As well I emailed both, the Chicago and the Washington offices. I never received an answer. So I obtained the travel permit per the website. Turns out that my mom needed to show a yellow fever vaccine card to enter Jamaica. Since she did not have it we were charged $350.00!!!! Yes 350.00 for a visa. How does a visa cover for a yellow fever vaccine card From beginning to end traveling to Jamaica is a HUGE rip off. Shame on the embassy and their consulates.

What in the world is is? The mailbox is full and can’t even leave a message. The phone doesn’t ring… I have a wedding in a few weeks and my family can not get a hold of anyone in the country they’re in because there’s no one in the office when they go in person. Is there anyone we can contact to resolve this? What kind of business are they conducting?

I came for my appointment and there was no one here to assist my son and I. I traveled all the way from Atlanta. This is a sad and unprofessional representation of the beautiful country of Jamaica. I hope more reliable people are found to manage this location or stop allowing people to make appointments here. Such a waste of time traveling.
