Unfortunately, I am Egyptian which means I have to deal with them. I dealt with the consulate 3 times: - The first time when I translated my driving license in Feb. 2017.I emailed them asking for the procedures and fees. They replied to me that I have to pay X$. A week later, I sent my license to them, but they called me and said that fees are changed to (X+20)$ and asked me to send the rest of the money using a money order from Canada Post. This shows how unprofessional and random they are. - My second experience with them is when I applied for a criminal record. Although that was in 2020, they use Mail (not email) to just apply for it. Then you must send another Mail after filling a form. Which is great if we are in 1980 not 2020. I remember I emailed them in Dec. 2020 if they can send that form by email so we can shortcut the 1st step. Till now in Aug. 2021 they did not reply to me! - My Third experience is when I tried to renew my passport. This is the worst. In June 2020, I called them and they told me that due to covid it is fine if your national ID is expired, and you just need to send your old passport. But in April 2021, they told me if my national ID is expired it will only be renewed 3 years! This shows you that they keep changing the rules every morning without updating their official website - Another issue with passport renew is you do not receive any notification from the consulate side to show you any updates. Like I am sending my passport to them, and I even do not know if they had received it or not. In addition to the long processing time 3-month process. - I pay 10 times more money for renewing passport or getting a criminal record than the price I would pay in Egypt. But the service I receive literally discourage and eliminate any homesickness feeling I have to Egypt. Anytime I feel home sick and I deal with them after, all the home sickness feelings disappear after that. - Finally, the system there is very poor, they follow the same routine since 1980. If 90% of the feedback about you is negative, then the issue is with you not the customers. The consulate team has to acknowledge that Egyptians here deal with them because they have no other option. I literally wish if I have another option, but unfortunately I am Egyptian.

I am writing about my experience at the Egyptian Embassy in Montreal, and unfortunately it was a very bad experience. I hope someone from the officials sees my comment. A bad experience at the embassy, especially from the lady who handles the transactions present to respond to people upon entering. She deals rudely and in a dirty manner with customers, with a below-low level of morality. My husband waited in line to ask her about finishing some papers this lady grabbed two papers without explaining anything, what he should do with papers, or where he would go or receive papers. she throw them on the desk and shouted at him and said, “Go on.” After that, my husband went to her again to take a pen to write something and also to understand what he should do with these papers. she shouted at him loudly. Just as she was standing in the street and saying, “I won’t do anything for you today.” My husband answered her very politely and said to her, “I need a pen, please.” she threw a pen on a desk and looked at him with disgust. so far we don’t understand what we should do with this papers and we have to go there again ,but I hope this time we can speak to someone can help us. Also I saw this lady scolding an old man because he asked her for help to finish papers and asked her for some information and the places he was supposed to go to to finish his papers (she responded to him rudely, loudly and screaming and said to him, I will not help you, help yourself and she refused to help him!). The person who stands at the embassy to serve customers in a place like this is supposed to be highly ethical, patient, respectful, and appreciates and respects the value of the place in which she stands if she can not control her behaviour just she can stay at home and let others help the community . I hope that the officials monitor the actions of this woman in particular and stop her at her limits!

And I applied for a visa since the 16th of February with Canadian travel documents (which should take between 7 - 60 days) as they wrote on their website... But If u write that online, someone from the consulate will call and say you shouldn’t write that online send a complaint email instead (which is they don’t have any in their website) and the Counselor is upset because of what u wrote, and no its not stopped here The consulate employee told me that : I can not approve ur visa or I can banned you from entering Egypt.... this is not professionalism and discrimination because I have a travel document not a Canadian passport... I will continue share this on all Social Media platforms .... I love Egypt and Egyptians, and I went there several time with my country passport, but after this disappointing experience I don't think I will not think about going there again..

I cannot believe that this a government institution. The service is horrible, I would give them zero stars if I could! They do not pick up the phone, do not answer e-mails, are VERY RUDE on the phone and hang up the phone when you ask them the status of your visa. I was advised by the Consulate I would get a travel visa with no issues when I went to Montreal from Toronto because I couldn't reach them by phone - I am scheduled to fly in 7 days, it's been 2 months and I still do not have any news about the status of my visa! This is ridiculous! They have done nothing to help with the process. This is an office of the CONSULATE and they cannot even speak properly or answer e-mails intelligently!!! I have booked my flight, booked my vacation in full in order to apply for travel visa, since it was the REQUIREMENT, according to their website. They then told me that they do not need any of this information and that they "cannot do anything to get the visa approval". How come the Egyptian Consulate cannot hire people who can actually help you and deal with you professionally? I am beyond appalled by this experience and lost all my interest in visiting this country. HORRIBLE STAFF, NO HELP WHATSOVER!

it's unfortunate that with all those mediocre reviews that whoever is responsible for this consulate is unable to implement changes to make it on par with how a proper official office should operate. wonder what else are they concerned with if they are not thinking about their main mission which helping those who require their services and making sure they communicate effectively. pretty sad to see similar offices in other countries operate at completely different level update: (few months later and few 100$ spent), the bureaucracy prevails, mediocre service and incompetent staff, the service i require is outstanding, being rejected/returned with absolute cryptic unhelpful hand written note asking to go through additional hoops some of which are completely unrelated to my request ( to show that whoever wrote those notes did not even pay attention to what my ask is), no wonder they do prevent any comments on their Facebook page surely they would have a lot of unhappy *customers* - why would they leave such incompetent staff is beyond me.

It has been so frustrating to deal with the consulate for anything. Services used to be a lot more efficient worth our pride about our country. Unfortunately lately services to expat has been a torture. I have been trying to apply for my son citizenship for months eventhough he has an egyptian BC. But apparently it is not a registered in the system and the consulate has not been helpful at all. So many citizens need to renew Egyptian ID's, nothing is being done, just collecting information from expats and nothing is being done. There is no communication what so ever, no one answer phones, email replies have nothing to do with inquiries in the emails. Question to the ministry of immigration, when are we going to have efficient services back again? It is very disappointing to have this level of representation in a country that is know to have many Egyptians expats.

Im so sorry for anyone that needs to deal with these people...no class... Good luck trying to get anyone on the phone...the worlds most outdated answer Machine will get you no where. If you are one of the few lucky ones who gets to talk to someone, be ready to talk to someone who wants nothing to do with you. No straight answers, not helpful, lazy answers and plain rude. if you are the Ambassador you should be ashamed of who you have employed. You are supposed to be an Example of the best of the best, you are supposed to build and help your community. I had the same work with the Kuwati Embassy the next day and what a master class in how these things should work. No hassles, an answer to every question and a basic understand of who works for who. It has become impossible to continue to do business in Egypt cause of these guys.

It’s very unfortunate to say this but I wish there was an option of a NO star at all. It’s shameful for a consulate to have such unprofessional employees. Starting with phone calls which take days for them to pick up (literally days) you can try calling for hours and hours and days and nothing. If they answer you after few hours you are lucky. Doesn’t matter if it was a small issue or an emergency. Then when they finally answer they answer with such a bad attitude (specially the lady with the Lebanese accent). They treat you disrespectfully and make you feel like they are making you a favor not their job. I hope I never have to deal with them again. And I wish the consulate would take this seriously because their employees are conveying a very bad image of Egyptian specifically and Arabs in general. What a shame !!

Good luck reaching them by phone or email, guaranteed at least 2-3 weeks before you get a response and thats if you're lucky. Had to take the train from Mississauga to Montreal so I can renew my passport (renewal application submitted November 15th 2020 in person). It is April 15th, 2021 today and I am yet to see my renewed passport. It’s really sad that you do this to your citizens abroad, keeping them without a valid passport for almost 6 months. I really can’t do anything other than pray my passport arrives soon so I can see my family. Update: May 26th today. Been trying to reach them by phone for over a week now, and renewed passport still hasn't arrived in almost 7 months. Not sure what else to say honestly. And no, they don't have an email you can contact them through in case you were wondering...

There should not be stars even to rate this place… went for renewal of my wife’s Egyptian ID on April 2021, till December 2022 no news. We went to ask & one lady mocked us saying: you’ve just remembered to come & ask about it!! Should we really go to check on what they did though we call several times & very hard to reach! Why they take our contacts & make it hard on people! Service in Egypt is really awesome & very respectful. Don’t waste your money & time in that place. This even shouldn’t represent Egypt. It’s a shame to Egypt. Money is gone, for sure. We had to re-do all the papers again in Egypt & was so easy & more respectful & price is waaaaay better. In Canada, they count 1 Egyptian pound for 1 Canadian dollar. So 100 EGP= 100 CAN$.. shame on you Egyptian consulate in Canada:(

I have called many times before and the employees never answer the phones. They say to email and they will get back to you. I tried emailing them many times and never once do they respond or get back to you ever. How can i trust that if i send a message on their facebook page that they will even respond if they never respond or answer phones or emails. How can employees that are getting paid to do a job and serve the community do such a poor job. This is never acceptable and no matter what the embassy says to justify this they are not doing anything to fix these issues. I am not the only one to complain so obviously this is a serious problem that needs be addressed. The embassy can say what they want but in the end words will not fix this, only actions can. I am very mad over this.

I am extremely disappointed with the Egyptian consulate's visa processing service. I submitted my passport, money order, application, and even booked a ticket on December 14th. Despite providing all necessary documentation and expressing the urgency due to a family matter in Egypt, the process has been excessively delayed. This situation has not only inconvenienced me but also prevented me from addressing a critical family issue promptly. The lack of communication regarding the status of my application is both frustrating and unacceptable. I implore the consulate to expedite the processing of my visa, as the delay has disrupted my travel plans and caused undue stress. Clear and timely communication is essential in such matters, and I hope this feedback prompts a swift resolution.

Most corrupted Embassy in Canada. I can’t believe that. They deserve negative ratings not just one. These people don’t know how to deal with humans in the modern society. If you apply for a visa they don’t have specific times to get the approval and it could take one, two years and then you have to print it out within one month otherwise it’s not useful. Which means they plan your travel and you don’t plan it for yourself. Also, I figured out lately, the system does this on purpose because there are people who sell the visas under the table( Black Market)for more money. That’s how corrupted is the system of visas right now until proven fixed. If you have time I will suggest watching Joe Rogan & Sonny Episode on YouTube. You will understand the frustration!

مبدائيا احب اتكلم علي التليفونات اللي بترد مره كل اربع شهور وده بالحظ بردو مبيردوش علي اي ايميلات والفيس لما بيردوا معندهمش اي معلومات وعلطول يقولولك اتصل خمس شهور مستنيه باسبور لما روحت عشان اجدده كان الرد هياخد شهرين بالكتير والدفع وقتي وكاش خلال خمس شهور روحت مرتين واتصلت اكتر من مية مره والمرتين اللي اترد عليا فيهم اتقالي اسبوعين وهيوصل وعدوا الاسبوعين وشهرين ومفيش اي حاجه وصلت وده اسمه استهتار وقله احترام عقول الناس اما تكون دراستي وكارت اقامتي متوقف علي باسبور مش متحدد هيوصل امتي يبقا الناس اللي شغاله مش عارفه تكون قد المسئوليه * انا معيش بطاقه مصرية يعني الباسبور بيتجدد لمده سنة بس والسنة ضاع منها خمس شهور* قمة في عدم الاحترافيه انا لو بجدده ف مصر هدفع ربع الفلوس ويمكن اقل كمان من اللي دفعتها هنا وهاخده في خلال ايام بس كانت معامله مره وخلصت

I drove 8 hours 2 way trip from Kitchener ON, to Montréal and they kicked us out the reason that because they said you need to take an (APPOINTMENT) ohhh wow. Especially I have my old mother and our children under 16 and they still didn’t even care about the old woman and our kids. Anyway the way they treated us it was incredibly disgusting and insane the Egyptian Consulate manages their citizens, Canadian citizens and tourist affairs on Facebook really. What a terrible example to any tourists who wants to go to Egypt. If they're that behind why would I visit, you guys really need to be updated your self we are in Canada not in Egypt so if you don’t know how to manage your online business just close it and go home, like it’s not a big deal guys.

i provided my papers there today to renew my passport , i will be honest about what i have seen . employees there really are working hard the lady that is working at the front desk(with Lebanese accent) has no time to even drink a glass of water she is answering the land line or mobile or answer a client question .. the back office employees really they are trying to help they answer very complicated cases read papers .... yes i waited like 35 minutes but there were working with others even in parallel ..small advice if you have an inquiry send them email they usually answer within 1 hour . i hope i receive my new passport correctly but this is my witness about the consulate visit today

Absolute WORST consulate ever. I've dealt with multiple embassies/consulates and this one was by far the worst experience ever. There is absolutely NO WAY to speak to anyone on the phone because they never pick up. I left multiple a number of messages and no returns. Finally I was able to get a reply to my email. I literally felt like I was communicating with a 5 year old. They don't answer any questions, very unprofessional with horrible communication skills. I ended up CANCELLING my Egypt trip because of such atrocious and unprofessional people in this consulate. They need to fire everyone in that office and replace them with people who actually have customer service skills.

if I could give this place negative stars I could, I acquired about getting my national card and they told me I had to go all the way to Egypt. What is the point of a consulate then if I have to go all the way to the country to get a simple card done. In the beginning of the year I needed to apply for my passport and told me they are not taking applications when I got there although I had previously spoken to someone that said I can come in. When I asked why they weren't advising it on their website they said I should have checked their Facebook. Seriously Facebook a government embassy and I should be getting my information from Facebook? honestly the worst

They never answer any phone calls. Even if you left them a voice mail to the extension that you need, they never reply your message. I think these people only got their positions through networking and they are just receiving their salary from Egypt while sleeping in their homes doing nothing to the Egyptian here. The joke that they left the voice message stating that they work from 10-12 then their break is from 2 - 4 ( their break is 2 hours ) then I think they close after that immediately . The most strange employee i have ever seen. Working only for 2 hours daily if they did . Advise , do not try to contact them at all.

احترسوا من تجديد بطاقة الرقم القومي، ،، لقد تقدمت بطلب لتجديد بطاقة الرقم القومي منذ شهر اغسطس ٢٠٢١ ولم يصلني رد حتى الآن من طرف القنصلية ( اي انتظار لمدة عام وثلاثة أشهر) ،،، وان افترضنا أن تأخير المعاملة شئ طبيعي نظرا لكون المعاملة تتم في مصر ولكن لماذا تعلن القنصلية ان الاجراء يستلزم ٦ اشهر فقط؟؟ او على الاقل الرد علي اتصالات ومراسلات المواطنين، ،،، علما بأنني اتصلت اكثر من خمسون مرة، ،، وارسلت بريد إلكتروني عدة مرات . حقيقي انه شئ مخيب للآمال. ولا يتناسب تماما مع وصلت اليه مصر من مستوى راق من التقدم والتحضر.. وصولي لهذا المكان لكتابة هذه الكلمات معناها نفاذ الصبر بعد انتظار عام وثلاثة أشهر لتجديد بطاقة الرقم القومي.

They made me pay $25 US online for a visa that days later was void and made me courier $50 and my passport and passport photos to them to get a visa then called me to tell me they want another $100. No phone ID, no name, no way to get an emailed confirmation from them and no answers on their phone. I paid $10K for a trip I wished I have never booked to their country. Update: Now I am told the e-visa they said was void is going to be accepted. However - they still have my passport I sent them Sept. 2nd that I should have back by now, but it's impossible to get anyone on the phone or answer an email.

No one is answering their phone. Unable to get a visa to travel to Egypt. I guess Egypt no longer wants Canadian Tourists to spend money in Egypt. They change the rules where Canadians can no longer get an E visa, and yet do not provide the means to get it through the consulate because they’re not answering their phones to give the information . Most of us cannot travel halfway across the country to obtain the visa, so no directions given as to how one can do it through the mail and there’s no guarantee that they would receive these important documents because no one is answering their phone

I give them 5 stars, for the organization of their last mission in Toronto March 23rd 2019, very well organized, hard working staff trying to please everyone. Small group staff, they could of increased the number to ease the load of the poor staff who, didn't have a chance to eat or even have a cup of coffee to please the people who are waiting. If they also can bring with them all documents, the prepaid envelopes, photocopiers, and charge the people extra for the service, better than sending them to buy some or make photocopies, which slow down the process. Overaall, job well done!

300 dollars for a 3 years valid passport ??? Is it made out of gold ? Just get a fake one at this point bet you it will be less expensive I m joking do not take this literally Best advice renew it in Egypt and if you have duel nationality renewal is even easier for you don’t let them scam you guys the workers are rude inefficient and honestly don’t even know what they are doing worst embassy u have ever seen talked too Site is also down but with that 300 dollars I bet you can hire a IT team instead of creating a Facebook page that can’t even reach u on and emails are never read

I have gone to the Egyptian Consulate twice in Montreal and both experiences were great. Mrs. Soha, is very pleasant and thoughtful was ever so kind and extremely helpful. Mr. Ahmed, the lawyer, was just as wonderful. Their cooperation and their thoughtfulness really made my day. It's easy to criticize, but I felt it is more important for me to send a note of praise because saying kind words goes a long way. My Dad has Parkinson and they truly went out of their way to help me and help my Dad. God bless Mr. Ahmed and Mrs. Soha for their good hearts. Thank you so very much!

Almost impossible to reach them, really very disappointing and frustrating!! Can’t believe that as an Egyptian citizen living abroad can’t reach my so called country’s representatives in order to get any sort of information or help in case needed!!.. also very unfortunate that whoever is responsible doesn’t take “”obviously “”any reviews as a serious and indicating problem issue and tries to get it solved or at least trying to ease the pain we are experiencing in order to reach any person in charge in this position!! Really soooo frustrating!!

it is set to one star right now because I have been calling for 3 hours straight for the past 2 days and no one has answered. Also when I call after a few rings a message starts to play but it is not in English. Could someone please translate what the message is saying so I know the next steps i need to take. I just need to apply for a tourist Visa but i live in Toronto and I dont feel comfortable mailing my passport off to a place before speaking to them.....or does anyone know of a place in Toronto I can get an Egyptian tourist VISA??

I have been dealing with this consulate for several years now and they always manage to provide me with their best services. Not only is the staff professional, but they are quite friendly as well. My paperwork is always processed as fast as possible and I'm always kept up-to-date with the status of my application(s). Keep in mind the heavy workload that they have to deal with, as well as the number of people/applicants that they are required to help, yet I was never disappointed. Thank you very much and keep up the great work!

I have been trying to reach them .. by everyway possible! They deactivated their website .. so no way to get the info I need . No messaging available on fb page .. people have been giving me different email addresses and I have been sending an email to each email address I get! MOREOVER.. when I try calling them .. it either is busy .. OR it rings! But it sounds like someone answers and then mute .. NOTHING at all! Aside from the fact that the working hours are 9:30 until 12:30 :|.. TERRIBLE !

Here is my theory on how the telephone works in the Egyptian consulate. First employee arrive will pick the phone handset and make sure it is busy for anyone who wants to call. 3 hours later, once the work day is finished, last employee puts back the phone handset and go home. In order to ensure that no one can reach the consulate, change the website address to Facebook page that no one care to look at and only useless congratulation posts for no one care events and occasions.

This consulate makes me ashamed to be Egyptian. I have been trying to reach them for over a year now with regular emails, phone calls, and messages to their facebook page which by the way is their only public facing online presence... This is shameful and embarrassing! After finally giving up I'm going to spend a boat load of money to go to Montreal in person for a week and just show up at their door hopefully then I might finally get someone to interact with me.

قنصليه بالاسم فقط .. مافيه اي نوع خدمات لا لطلاب ولا تاشيرات فيزه مافيش حد يرد ع التلفونات ولا ايميلات واذا ردوا الرد بشع جدا اتكلمت بطريقه غير محترمه ولا مؤهله لشخص يمثل دوله مصر بالخارج سفاره تعاملها زي الزفت وتعكس صوره سيئه عن مصر معاملات القنصليه علشان الفيزة مماطله توصل لحد خمسه و سته اشهر التعامل مع المكاتب الي تمنح تاشيره وقد تكون غير قانونيه اسرع انصح جمهوريه مصر العربيه بتبديل جميع طاقم القنصليه الذي وجودهم زي عدمهم :ملاحظه لو فيه اقل من نجمه كنت حطيت

I requested for a police clearance and sent money order of $40, unfortunately didnt receive the application form that they sent back to me i gues its canada post mistake, so i requested another one and send them another self address envelope but they are asking me again to send another $40. الرد على الاتصال منعدم !!! بعد انتظار ٨ شهور استلام الباسبور الاول مجدد لثلاث سنوات فقط استلام باسبورات الاولاد بعد شهرين تقريبا من وصول باسبور الاول مجددين ل ٧ سنوات! اضطررت الى ارسال بريد مسبوق الدفع مرتين لاستلام جوازات سفر ارسلت فى وقت واحد. رغم تأكيدهم ايضا على اكمال تجديد بطاقة الرقم القومى الا انهم ارسلوا البطاقة القديمة برفقة جوازات سفر الاولاد! تكلفة ارسال بريد مسبوق الدفع تعادل تكلفة تجديد البطاقة فى مصر ٧ او ٨ اضعاف. فخر لكل مصرى الحقيقة

Just finished some business there. The business was completed quickly, efficiently and politely. The staff were very courteous despite the large number of people waiting. Too bad that I had to take a day off work and spend 12 hours in a car to get it done. I wanted to do it by mail but had some questions. I spent a week calling, left 2 messages, and an email with no response. That was unfortunate. A fly in the ointment, as they say.

If you are Egyptian and your Egyptian Passport is “valid” YOU DONT NEED a visa to enter Egypt. Also for any other paper work pls make sure to book an appointment- the link for appointments is included in one of their Facebook top post. Without an appointment, you are wasting your time. Other than that they are doing the best they can. No phones/no emails, just book an appointment. Thanks to the consulate team for the great service.

It has been two weeks of me trying to get a hold of one of the consulate in Canada. I’ve been calling every single day call the one in Ottawa and all the mailboxes are full and nobody answers your phones. This one in Montreal just beeps busy nonstop. Doesn’t matter when you call how many times you call absolutely ridiculous. I guess I won’t be going to Egypt since I can’t figure out how to get a visa. Thanks for nothing.

The receptionist and the visa section employee are absolutely very professional, quick, understanding and respectful ladies that I really love the way they treated me under my special situation. The team at the consulate provides outsanding customer servives. I have dealt with Mr. Amr Gamal for power of attorney documents. He responded to my email in 2 hours, called me twice and emailed me once my documents are placed in the mail. The receptionist (a true professional woman) received my calls twice and passed my information to legalization dept. Well done and keep it up.

Me and my wife applied for a tourist visa by mail from Mississauga. They were relatively prompt on emails. The turnaround time was super fast, our passports reached there on Wednesday and they shipped them with the Visa end of day, Friday. Be sure to add the required documents like job letter, bank statement etc., as requirements for non-Canadians are different.

They do their best to process your requests as efficiently as possible, and will guide you through the bureaucracy to avoid any potential delays or problems down the road. What a terrible experience it would be if you have to deal with this place and these people. I have sent my passport a month ago for a visa and to date I have heard absolutely nothing. Just like everyone else is saying here, phone lines are always busy or nobody ever picks up. Terrible. avoid unless it's an absolute must and even then I wish you tons of luck

Although my children had a hard time communicating with the consulate to renew their passports during COVID-19 pandemic, our experience was quite different. Going to the consulate in person, my husband and I were received very courteously; all staff members were patient and cooperative, and we received the required service on the same day.

Those public servants working in that consulate are just a bunch of parasites who live off taxpayers money and refuse to answer the phone and emails. They should send them all back to Egypt and put new staff and management. They should put young and energetic new staff that have some enthusiasm and energy. Awful service!

I went to Montreal from mississauga August 2021 to renew my card and I paid $125 for nothing. I called them 3 times they said we didn't receive it yet. I asked them for refund they refused and they said when you go to Egypt go and get it from there. So I paid by $$$ To go to Egypt to get it. They stole our money.

I went to certify my mother's death certificate. It was very easy and the staff was very courteous. Though some people were very nasty and wanted to do things that are out of the regulations, the staff tried calmly to explain to them the problem and didn't loose their cool . Don’t bother trying to call them, they will not answer the phone. Was looking to get a visa since I’ll be going to school in Egypt for a couple of months, luckily when I emailed them they answered me within 20 minutes. They’ve had my passport for about a month & im going to collect it sometime this week.

Went for making a Power of Attorney (Tawkeel), and it took an hour. I hope they become faster + extend their working hours in the future. PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: - Better to call them to inquire about what’s needed to submit before going. - They ONLY accept CASH payments.
