Beautiful gardens for a walk, picnic or just plain photography. Lots of greenery, with water views and a permanent ship museum for your backdrop. There's an abundance of restaurants on the road stretch to sit and enjoy these views. Very relaxed, gone for a holiday kind of feel here. The heritage buildings on the roadsides also make for an interesting exploration. Most parking meters now can be paid using the EASYPARK app - pay only for how much you use, much better than prepaid!
Playground
There's a playground on site
Restrooms
Closets restrooms are at the information centre building
Picnic area
Plenty of sunny areas and shading from mature trees for an excellent picnic with both garden and water views

Commonwealth Reserve use to be our favourite place to take our kids when they were little. It was easy to find a car park AND it was free. There were nice little boutique shops to visit and cheap fish and chips were always available. Ending a visit with a picnic in the reserve was a delightful experience. What was once a lovely local spot to spend a Sunday afternoon has now turned into a high tourism location, with very little and expensive parking and the boutique shops are now turned into fancy cafes or cheap tourism gift shops. It's sad. It once was a beautiful place to visit.

Great place for families, kids, and group BBQs, especially during sunny beautiful days like today. The breeze coming from the water, the beautiful sunshine, the relaxed and happy atmosphere is just perfect. The kids also have a lot of fun on the playground, watching the ships from the pier, and there's enough grass to play soccer/footy while parents and grandparents picnic. There are tennis courts if you wanna have a game and heaps of great restaurants to choose from the main strip also. Just an overall family-friendly environment - would definitely recommend for a lazy weekend.

This is a beautiful place. I read a little about the history of the place and apparently some the land is reclaimed from the sea, as are other parts of Williamstown. The reserve has been there since Melbourne's first sea-port was established circa 1835 and there's a big gazebo like structure where bands used to play so it's literally brimming with history. As an added bonus at one end there's an amazing seafood restaurant called Pelicans Landing that has really friendly and professional staff and amazing food at affordable prices. You can't not have a nice day at this place.

HISTORIC RESERVE ON THE WATERSIDE AT WILLIAMSTOWN The reserve was once a swampy mud flat submerged at high tide. It was reclaimed in the 1880s to become the reserve it now is. It has a visitors centre (with toilets at rear) on site as well as an old rotunda. Good place to visit on the weekend - catch the train from the city and a few minutes after existing at Williamstown Station you can be eating fish and chips on the reserve and - most likely - involuntarily sharing your meal with the plucky seagulls!

Love Williamstown, every 3rd week of the month they have a craft market many many years ago the market was larger now it's getting smaller which it's sad to see. In summer especially the place is wonderful always lot's of people and restaurants and also go for a walk on the pier, irecommend this place.
Playground
The kids can play at the playground.
Dog-friendliness
The good thing about this place is that it's dog friendly as long as they are on a leash.

Fantastic park in the middle of Williamstown CBD situated right against the water and Gem Pier. Great way to spend that day walking around and looking at the historical sight and also the retail shops nearby. Council had done a good job of keeping park clean and tidy, allowing picnics or taking in the sun. Public toilets and children's playground.

Great little park by the harbor. Several historical articles atree in the park as well as toilets, information centre, playgrounds and booking for seaplanes and cruises. The are many good restaurants, cafes and ice cream shops within a couple of minutes walk. This is a lovely spot for the kids or a romantic afternoon.

Stopped here for lunch as part of our Yarra river cruise, 1 1/2 hour stop over between boats, lovely green park with plenty of shops close by, 2 fish and chip shops to choose from with in 100 meters of park entrance, plenty of seating and toilet facilities, even a tourist info centre in the park

Good place to take the family on a nice weather day. Lots of room and great views of the bay and passing ships and boats. Restroom nearby as well as coffee shops and restaurants and ice-cream shops over the road. Parking is tricky on nice days though as not many all-day car spots.

  • Tim Weightman

Great playground, lots of wide open space, plenty of shade, good view of the water, has a toilet block. Ideal parking is ticketed but there are free spots on some side streets nearby. Couldn't find a water fountain which would really complete the amenities here.

  • George Dakis

One the great views of Melbourne across the bay. Has a real "township" atmosphere, yet close to cbd. The park itself is clean, well looked after, family oriented. Grab some fish & chips, picnic rug, lay on grass, soak the sun and enjoy the view all round.

  • Danielle Rotin

Great place to take in the beautiful city views. Also enjoyed using Able fishing and charters for an extra special whizz around the bay. Every Melbournian should do it, caught the boat from the dock across from this park!

  • Sam de Blank

Bustling with activity, this terrific space is perfect for picnics and strolls along the pier ice cream in hand. The panoramic water view is scattered with boats, bird life and our Melbourne city in the background.

  • Mohamad A

Nice place but always super busy and no easy parking with strict council parking rules. So be careful!!! Very hard to find a parking spot though. Don’t forget to walk on the pier and check the city from there.

  • CRISTINA GIOVANNINI

A good Japanese restaurant. The food was fresh and the portion adequate. We ate also green tea ice cream and it was not bad. Very recommended.
Restrooms
The toilette were not really new but clean.

  • Mohamed Aboushamah

Very beautiful park with plenty of restaurants to enjoy nice meal or coffee. Playground for young kids and view for relaxation. Drawback is the toilet which was old and uncleaned during the day.

  • Khalid Amin

Its a beautiful place to enjoy time with kids and family. Many trees for shade, just opposite the market, with a kids play area, and with wonderful skyline view of the city. Highly recommended

  • Never Judit

Generally a nice place. Be careful when visiting as there are a lot of broken glass on the sidewalks and teenagers trashing parked vehicles and making fun of visitors. Not a safe place to be.

  • M K (Maz)

Lovely view of the marina and CBD. Park is located opposite shops and has a kids park on the northern end. Worth a visit as part of a day trip.
Playground
Nice playground for kids

  • Justin Giuliano

Nice park with beautiful views back to Melbourne city. Plenty of open space and a nice playground for kids, but can got overly busy and couldn't find any public water taps around either

  • Anthony Chiarello

Home of Williamstown Craft Market 3rd Sunday of every month from 10 am. Great place to relax and watch the ships cruise by on way to docks. Lots of great food options across the road.

  • Dilek Toygun

Perfect location for any occasion. Picnics, coffee catch ups, soaking up some vitamins, and much much more. Convenience of a wide range of eateries, right across the road. Love it!

  • Anne Tanian

It was lovely and relaxing sitting under one of the many shade trees on a hot summer's day. It is a superbly maintained reserve with views of boats and the city in the distance.

  • Santosh S

Calm & quiet place which is away from Melbourne. If you are coming here in cruise, first check in the information center to know more. On Monday most of the shops are closed.

  • catherine clancy

Nice place to step back in time and loose the husle and busle of the city. Picturesque maritime village. View of the bay and lively green grassy area for picnics. Thank you

  • Josh Morrison

Great spot to sit and enjoy the city views while you enjoy an ice cream. Very picturesque area of a beautiful historic town. Not a lot of shade when its busy and hot.

  • Flexiled

Jeffrey lives in the tree infront of the carparks above the bin. We discovered tonight that Jeffrey is female and had a baby. Here is a photo of Jeffrey and her baby!

  • Isaac Deeb

Great views of the city across the bay. Lots of dining experiences close by. Parking can be difficult and requires a permit.

  • Pup Pog

Wonderful little park in the heart of historic Williamstown offering shade, lawns and views of Melbourne across Hobsons bay.

Great view. Close to shops - fish and chips close by - which is great. Dogs are welcome. We like going there.
