Is it me or is the city of Kansas City Mo more interested in cars tearing the streets of Kansas City up than the streets of Kansas City tearing up cars. About a month ago the youth of Kansas City started picking out intersections and doing burnouts and the City deemed this a city problem and in less than two weeks they came up with a solution. They installed this little disc at certain intersection I was amazed how fast they came up with this solution because it’s been over twenty years since they have repaved my street I live on east 73rd street between paseo and troost. They can come up with quick solution when it comes to cars doing burn outs on our streets but as far as fixing our pothole infected streets there plan is years behind. If you drive from 63rd and Meyers and paseo to at least 75th and paseo probably further those streets are ridiculous also 75th street between paseo and Cleveland is a mess if we could get our city to focus on problems that have been plaguing Kansas City for more years than I can remember it would be more beneficial to the the people who have supported this city. I think the only reason they are trying to resolve this burnout situation is because of the area that they are choosing to have these event. I think if it was in my neighborhood they wouldn’t give it a second look. Let’s stop letting Troost divide us and concentrate on areas east of troost, street repair is something that everyone should experience.

I work in downtown Kansas City and I went to City Hall on my lunch break because I heard about the Observation Deck and thought that would be a good spot to take a few photos of the city from. After getting to the 28th floor there was a sign that said you actually have to go to the lower level security to be let up to the observation deck, "I thought, this would've been great to know before hand but oh well my mistake." I get to the lower security desk to ask about getting to view the Observation Deck only to be told maintenance is going on and to try back on Monday as it should be finished then. I call on that following Friday there' maintenance still going which is odd because I go by the building during day time hours and there is no sign of any work being done. I call 3 more Fridays and still maintenance which is very odd and I get the feeling the security guard lady is just being plain lazy which is very disconcerting when you consider my tax dollars are paying for her to be lazy and not do her job. I am now resorting to writing the poor reviews and trying to find outlets for letting them know my disgust. Update: I finally got to go up and see the views and they were fantastic I'll change my rating but leave 1 possible star off because of having to go through the hassle.

Needed the employees of the City to help me find an elusive but necessary Certificate of Legal Nonconformance. An online or Sunshine request for public records did not work because this information was circa 1980s and not digitized. Another City may have blown me off with tough luck. But not In Kansas City. I waited for hours but let them do their job. They would appear and share information, then go follow another lead. As I was sitting there, had the time to read the tiny print, and found an obscure reference to a file CLNU #2096. The Archivist jumped on that and 15 minutes later I had a copy of all documentation needed to prove my case. Thank you to all friendly and committed to public service employees, but especially to Ms. Janies Shannon the City Archivist. She was genuinely as happy for me as I was.

Animal control wont take dogs for multiple days unless its hurt, if you call TELL THEM ITS HURT or they will tell you it will be "a couple of days" before they come and pick up the dog and will tell you to drop off at a shelter or re-release the dog. I've lived in so many big cities where the city actually cares about lost/found dogs and KC is not it! They wont even pick the dog up to drop off at the shelter!

My wife and I stopped by the City Hall building and were able to visit the observation platform. The view was every bit as good as that seen from the Liberty Memorial, maybe better. Looking north we could see the downtown airport and looking west we could see Kansas City, Kansas. The first time we tried to visit, it was closed due to ice. Art deco is everywhere: doors, windows, even mail slots.

Just for entertainment, I thought I'd call to complain about the 3 FOOT TALL WEEDS GROWING ON THE MEDIANS along 64th street. I called the "action center" and spoke with an operator. Spent over 6 minutes on the phone with her while she determined if it was the cities responsibility or MODOTS. She determined that it was indeed the city, and created a case.

Lived in KC most of my life and have lived in 4 other cities of comparable size and some smaller. Moved back here for family considerations 8 years ago. This city is collapsing w/ ultra high taxes from both state, county and city sales tax and illegal 1% city earnings tax. Leaving early summer next year and good riddance to this corrupt squandered joke.

Probably one of the worst places in the midwest Kansas city has a still has a mask mandate and trashy streets filled with homeless people. Plus it has a 1 percent tax on all income earned. I no longer live in Kansas City but unfortunately still work there so I have to pay them over $800 per year for them to basically do nothing.

Hard place to park. Disabled parking not within State regulations as far as number or location to entrance. City cares more about police dept ( not disabled - they have parking lot space for those) & "marked vehicles" than disabled constituents that need to come for hearings, etc.!

  • Cher Oliver

Didn’t see anywhere online in my planning that you needed a reservation to use this observation deck. And it has to be made a week in advance. No wiggle room there. The city didn’t seem to have a lot of life.

Kcmo don't hire in city business keep hire out city even out state business never put people vote in jobs to help them thank you not give us job and thank you for hired people don't even live in city

Website is horrible. Shutting it down for maintenance when personal property taxes are due.. Government money grab to charge people late fees. I'll laugh when the people Burn this place down.

  • Megan Jernigan

City hall officials chose to violate constituents rights and not allow people into a public meeting. We will see y'all at election time if you don't get sued before that!

We have been here many times to meet with Mayor Lucas and many of the council members for my work with KC Tenants. We have always been treated with the utmost respect.
