Big theater with good selection language wise. Lots of screens. Took a star off as the place was ridiculously cold. Everyone was wearing their hoddies and winter jackets. Due to the pandemic and its age in general, a lot of the establishment is looking old and run-down. Washing your hands in the bathroom is a brief affair out of necessity, as the water seems to only be of the freezing variety. Otherwise, the staff were very polite and efficient and seemed quite positive. Even the cleaning crew. It would have been nice if there was a warning for late night shows, though. My wife and I used the underground for some shopping and eats before the 10:20 PM show. When we got out of the theatre, the underground access was closed, and we were forced to leave at street level with no winter jackets as we left them in the car unwittingly. I don't hold them responsible, but fair warning for those who don't frequent that location would be appreciated. At minus 15 celcius, you get to make the decision to walk a couple blocks to your car in the cold or hail a cab/ Uber at additional cost just to get back to your car. Unfortunate. Otherwise, good prices, considering it's in downtown, and a ton of other amenities are close at hand with food courts and plenty of boutiques if one wishes to make a good afternoon or day of it. This location does have a cantine style offering if you wish to eat hamburgers and hotdogs and french fries, etc. instead of candy and chips. All in all, I would recommend this theater when in the area. It's much better than many of the smaller cinemas in the general Montreal region.
WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. Because of the buzz about Shang-Chi the Legend of Ten Rings, we decided to reserve and paid for 4 IMAX tickets at 1pm. Upon our arrival, they asked us to have our QR code as proof of vaccination. My problem was that after completing the form on Quebec self-service portal, an error message appears saying that they can't get my data since the information I give might not match with the one in Quebec Vaccination Registry. On the page, it gave me a number in order to reach out to their staffs. I was put on hold for 30 minutes and ended up hang up cause I cant take it anymore. The first 2 staffs in Scotiabank I talked with, they told me if I can find a confirmation in writing, it should totally be fine. I thought that was it and about to leave. However, I ended up finding a screenshot of my proof of vaccination in my phone and showed it to a 3rd staff. This lady refused instantly to have a look at it and insisted that we MUST HAVE the QR code. I asked her if she could be a little lenient since I have tried everything I could have done to get that and even paid for 4 TICKETS but in vain. Apparently, she is the manager, so the other 2 staffs I had spoke to earlier don't want to chime in. I don't know if there was anything happened to her before during the day and she want to blow off some steam because if it was the way they operated, the other 2 staffs would have said the same thing in the first place. .............
The last movie I saw with my family was Super Mario Bros and I must say that for the first time I got a good room with chairs that lean back, but the staff was almost non-existent and not very nice, the game machines even when they are few were great my son really appreciated them and we had a good time after the movie.
This is a love hate relationship cause this place has no structure at all and it's horribly managed. I ordered a small popcorn that was handed to me in a plastic bag?? Then i try to put butter and the butter started to leak because of that dumb plastic bag??? Who gives plastic bags for popcorn in a cinema? Then I went to the counter with the bag of popcorn visibly leaking butter(that went on my pants btw) and asked for a regular paper bag, and the manager told us "noo we cant do that, we are not allowed to do that blablabla". What is happening to this place? Half of the mecanical stairs don't work, the place is nasty and you know what? This place needs love. The only thing that keeps it alive is the nostalgia of the people used to go there and the location. Other than that, it feels like a spooky liminal space. Try to go on a tuesday night i swear you will have the creeps. 3 stars because i used to love this place, but what the hell is happening in this place
The most disgusting, dirty old cinema around. The picture and sound quality is just not there. Now in regards to its cleanliness I get its downtown but for the prices you charging I expect the place to be immaculate(bottle of water $4.50 !!!). Also please clean under the seats once in a while. I’m surprised you have not been shut down. Now the seats, we happen to sit in the back row, which had a broken seat not sure how old these seats are but they aged as if they are 100 years old! People come nowadays for the experience otherwise streaming services will over take your businesses. So make it count and start producing quality service for the people that choose to come and watch a movie at your theater, don’t think you have gotten big enough that people will continue to keep you afloat.
You have to admit the luster and ambiance of this cinema has definetly lost it's shine. I used to look at this place as the flagship of all the Cineplex Odeons in the Montreal region. But now you have escalators are not working. The standing warm musty air because the AC isn't working so great. Access to only the 1st floor concessions. And the let's not get started with the state of the washrooms, toilets/urinals need scrubbing, missing soap dispensers, water everywhere so mind your step or you'll slip or get your pants wet washing your hands. For the most part the atleast the crew picking up after each movie do a good job in picking up the garbage and popcorn left lying around by the previous movie viewers. And if not for a good movie the experience could of been worse.
Went to see a movie on my birthday. The movie was the only redeeming factor, but the rest of the experience was atrocious. I don't know how this place hasn't been shut down by the Health Department. The washrooms smell like urine and sweat, and half the soap dispensers are broken. The food is basically garbage, the employee warned me about buying their ice cream and gave me a sample to try before buying and I nearly puked. See the photo of their $12 "pizza". Their seats are pretty uncomfortable and haven't been upgraded in decades. I really wish another company took over the facilities. I'd rather watch a movie at home than go back to this Cineplex. Hopefully VIP cinemas isn't as terrible of an experience.
Very cozy and spacious movie theatre! I've only ever received fresh, warm popcorn and the staff is usually very cheerful, kind and helpful. Its also conveniently located in the shopping centre with easy, indoor access to the metro! My only disappointment is they may be understaffed, which could be the result of the long concession lines and constantly having to reach over people to grab napkins, straws and extra butter for the popcorn. There's several stations upstairs and downstairs for additional condiments, but only one of the stations are refilled regularly (downstairs near the checkout counter). Overall, nice place to see a movie and get away!
Always a show with this theatre chain when it comes to the closed captions device. At one location they didn’t have the device charged, in another they say the devices are broken, and in this one, Banque Scotia, they said it was « only « reserved for people with hearing impediment going as far as requesting a document that certified it when I have never ever been requested to show proof of this at another theatres, it’s been as simple as requesting it. The staff seems not prepared for requests for these devices and make up this ridiculous excuses to not provide the closed captions device when they should be available at request.
Great theater, lot of choice of movies. I appreciate that they have also the MET Opera Lives, although a bit expensive (almost 30$), but always worth the experience! Very friendly, professional, helpful staff. Completely wheelchair accessible, even power wheelchair, but -1 star because not convenient that we have to ask for the elevator and wait to be unlocked every time we go out and back but I totally understand that it is with the purpose for security and to keep it clean, with the neighborhood. Bathrooms accessible, all the place is easy to wheel around.
Seeing a movie at the Imax on a May evening was like sitting in moist warm boot. The theater kinda smelled. A pervasive acrid moldy odor. There was no airflow, and not enough A/C. And after the movie was over and the credits were rolling, nobody was getting up. Credits roll like 15 minutes now, it was super dark, and I was stuck. No one was moving. It was torturous. Started reading my emails. Credits over, still no lights. Finally the iPhone lights appeared . And people started to move. So glad to get out of there to get some fresh air.
Went to the cinema to watch scream 6 in March 9 and the cinema said that they would give away posters of the movie to the people that watched it. So I go with my sister to watch the movie and once we’re done with it we go and ask an employee when are they gonna give away the posters( P.S at the time I asked the employee I had seen people with posters already) so then the employee tells me that they ran out of posters even tho she was holding a stack of them in her hands. Terrible customer service.
The quality of the service here has really declined in the past couple years. I attended an IMAX showing where they completely forgot to start the movie (it was a packed auditorium with hundreds of attendees) and it finally started half an hour late after I went and informed the staff. At the same showing, they forgot to turn on the lights when the movie ended, leaving us stumbling in the dark to exit. The number of pre-show ads has increased way too much.
Great cinema which offers IMAX screen, was splendid. Located inside a big shopping center. Automatic machines for ordering tickets, very user-friendly. Movies are all shown in original language (English), they have a good selection of food in the cinema and also small gaming areas with old arcade playing machines like House of the Dead or Time Crisis 4, reminds me of my childhood. Seats in the theater are moving backwards to lean back, really good feeling
Decent theatre. It has location convenience going for it. And staff are nice, never had an issue with them. Seats are okay, standard Cineplex fare. The main issues are the movie selection and the general public. They usually only show blockbusters so the selection is a little bland, but that also means it attracts a more casual audience, which can affect any particular experience. Overall not terrible, but not that great either. Best for casual audiences.
The automated ticket machines were malfunctioning, the escalators were not working, the popcorn was cold and stale, the chocolates tasted old and the drinks were lukewarm. Not what I expected after shelling out $100 for 2 IMAX 3D tickets and a combo with 2 popcorn, 2 drinks and 2 chocolates. Oh yeah, the 3D glasses sucked BIG TIME! They are super uncomfortable and hurts behing the ears. The Forum VIP cinema is far superior and costs less....go figure!!
Scotiabank Cinema in Montreal is an excellent Cinema with an IMAX screen with 3D experience. It was my first 3D experience with my kiddos. We really enjoyed our time watching the movie in 3D. The location of the cinema provides an excellent atmosphere, where you can also shop for other things. The environment is kid-friendly, easy to navigate and it's secured. We look forward to visiting Scotiabank Cinema during our next vacation in Montreal. .
It was very cold, for me, had to wrap my scarf over head and leave my coat on, next time I'll also bring earplugs, most likely lost my hearing, seats were a bit dirty but whatever, not the end of the world, should've tried those beat seats that vibrate, they r bigger, more fancy and cosy, there r 3 intensity settings. The arcade is so-so, the games r pretty dated, but wtvr, still fun to keep the kid busy.
Historic and wonderful cinema described as one of the most beautiful relaxing places. It is located in an excellent area in all respects and has a large area with many comfortable chairs. The ticket price is sometimes reduced, and it is characterized by showing films that suit all ages and social levels. I advise everyone to go and enjoy this place, but sometimes you have to go early.
Haven't been since 2018. It used to be my go-to theater. I love that the screens are big but sad there's no more Tim Hortons and the food quality isn't great. I got a pepperoni pizza for my movie tonight and couldn't eat it because the whole top layer of the pizza was raw dough. I ate two of my husband's chicken strips and those had no flavor. Was pretty disappointing.
the Theater is ok, nothing special and bathrooms can be quite dirty. as for IMAX, to those of you whom it might concern, this theater does NOT have true IMAX, they have showings in 70mm but this is 70mm 5 perf not True IMAX with 70mm 15 perf (3 times the size of film) they use to offer 1570 but no longer do. now the closest place to get true IMAX in 1570 is Toronto.
I’ve always been a patron of the Scotiabank but never wrote a review because the stars weren’t aligned. Well now I see the constellation named Barbie and I have achieved peak ginger ale posting. What a joy it was to experience my favourite beverage with some of my favourite people watching the cultural event that is Barbie. The movies are back baby!!!
Convenient location, downtown Montreal. Which means it can be busy at times and some fellow customers may leave their mess behind them when leaving. Nothing too major so far but I would just keep an eye on the seats before sitting down, just in case. There can be line ups in the washrooms too at peak times. I keep coming back because of the location.
Lots of cinemas. IMAX, AVX (normal screen but with louder sound). And some have D-Box. There's not enough staff to cover all floors. So you can only purchase popcorn/snacks on the 1st floor and sometimes, on the last. The rest rooms are fairly clean. Overall, great cinema with many movies. Too bad downtown is a nightmare if you come by car.
The best theatre to be if you are from some other country, as movies are available in English. Other theatres mostly have it in French with specific timings for English. Price in quite low and theatres are very nice and seats comfortable. Public WiFi available. Snacks available just outside the screens. Food court just in the base floor.
This theater is stuck in the 90’s. The seats are very uncomfortable and dated. Lack of investment and proper modernisation makes this a not so great experience. Nowadays theaters of this size and smaller have reclining comfortable seats, this theater needs to get with the times. If they revamped the theater their sales would increase.
Conditions innaceptables.
What I love about this place is they have vegetarian options with their snacks menu. What a great start. Next time maybe trying to add a vegan option too. We usually order the nachos with salsa however the salsa has after taste that I can’t explain. Anyhow, the rooms were clean. Even the washroom. And the staffs are friendly too.
Great central location right near Peel station and attached to the shopping centre. It's usually quite busy - at any time of day - so booking tickets in advance and coming 15-30 min early if you plan on a stop at concessions is recommended. The seats were fairly comfortable and theatre pretty clean. Definitely a bit understaffed.
Milieu inclusif.
Wow this cinema went downhill after COVID. I haven’t been here in forever now. Broken bathroom stall and sink still cover in black garbage bag. Not much food selection. It’s empty the top floor, no table or chair to eat. The theater is cold, not heated. I don’t think I’ll come back, might as well go to the Atwater cinema.
Amazing Cinemas, went to watch Oppenheimer with my friends the audio inside is incredible! Although the arcade machines were not working despite us paying to recharge our arcade card, an employee went and said that it can’t be refunded because its not owned by the cinema or something so it was a bummer.
One off the best movie theater in town. There is a temporary problem; several escalators did not seem to work or were not open today... 2023/10/07 Il y a un problème temporaire; plusieurs escalateurs ne semblais pas fonctionner ou n'étaient pas ouvert aujourd'hui...
Lol Horrible. Sale. Y a du monde. C'est cher. 4.5$ bouteille d'eau).
Management needs to enforce silence and no phone usage during shows, otherwise it's the end of cinema experience. I don't understand how movie goers can be so disrespectful. I don't even mind the broken old arcade games and bad food, as long as I can concentrate on the movie.
They need to fix there online site. Bought tickets last night to be at this one and got in before the movie to have my tickets scanned to find out it was at a different cinema. They lost me as a customer and now I am definitely going to purchase tickets in person from now
Centrally located theatre with regular theatre, ULTRA AVX, IMAX, D-BOX and REAL 3D as well as the regular experience. It's great when you can reserve your seats and arrive just on time, no waiting. Tim Hortons is available inside the theatre as well as some other chains.
Scotiabank Cinema Montreal is a disappointing experience that isn't worth the money. The air conditioning doesn't work, leaving the interior uncomfortably hot, and the seats lack comfort. I'd recommend seeking alternative options for a better movie-watching environment.
Cold and windy when I was there. But I went to watch a movie and the theatres are great! Love the place, nice and comfy seats. The popcorn is amazing. I suggest to get a large one, the previews can be long sometimes! Download also the Time play game and win Scene points
The seats all move back, which I found annoying: I don't want to face the ceiling when I'm watching a movie. The concessions are pricey, but that seems to be the norm these days. There are lots of floors, but at least there are escalators. It's not far from the metro.
We have always went to this theater and I liked it but my last experience was bad. Me and my family went to watch a movie called avatar and there was a glitch the screen went black but the audio didn't stop.the glitch lasted more then 2-3min but they rewind the movie
I’ve been to many movies in this theater. Honestly? It really rocks. Good seats and screens, actually kind staff, and also good atmosphere; especially at like the top floor or so. But yeah, definitely come here if you wanna see movies with the right action and mood.
Such a great place to watch movies. I experienced IMAX, AVX, 3D IMAX and even regular screening here, they're all incredible! With IMAX (3D) being my fav! I'm curious to try D-Box some day too. The little shops are nice & the restroom is usually very very clean
Went to see Mission Impossible in imax and the screen sound and everything was great as it always is. This time the only problem was there was no working AC at all in hall 13 and the movie was almost 3 hours. Hope this gets fixed before Oppenheimer next week
This is in my opinion the best theater in Montreal, why well because of the IMAX experience. The sound is way better than the one at the forum. Also you have more movies to choose and screening times. Rest is all the same. It helps if you're a SCENE member.
The theatre as a place is ok. The experience? Geez have not been to the movies in a while .. did not realize how much ads I need to watch to be allowed to watch the movie I paid for. Need to figure out how late do I need to be to skip the garbage.
It was a great experience watching Mission Impossible in huge screen in IMAX in salon 13, but there was no working air conditioning and it was quite hot in there. The movie was three hours and it was really uncomfortable. Hope they fix it soon.
We had a great evening. The IMAX theatre was very nice. Seats were comfortable. Popcorn with real butter, always good. Location is also a big Plus. We took a long walk along Ste-Catherine st. Before the movie. It was really nice. Yeah. 5 stars.
Great cinema! Personnel very friendly, food pretty good. Went there three times, to watch the last Mission Impossible, Dune, and the new Top Gun. Always nice big screen, good sound quality. I like it a lot. You have to get your tickets online.
We usually go there. Great screen and high quality cinema. Snacks are a bit expensive there. But in general we love it here. The only problem is that there is no board showing the right salon for the movie we always struggle to find that .
Stairs didn’t work for two weeks in a row to go upstairs. Toilets not clean. Overpriced drinks and food. Great screens but what’s the point of pre booking a ticket and paying extra, when someone sits in your seat. Not my favourite cinema.
Building has definitely gotten so old and dingy! The AC was out on the upper floors - mixed with 30 degree humid weather was an awful mix for a 3 hour movie. The room smelled of disgusting body odour!! Will pick another cinema next time!
My first and only visit to a cinema in Montreal and Canada for that matter. So as far as my experience goes it was a good cinema. The sound was a bit on the loud side sometimes. The audio mixing seemed to be off because of the loudness.
The AC doesn’t work according to an employee (As of August 1st 2023). However, there’s no notice anywhere. At least they apologized and refunded us after complaining. Moreover, the bathroom are disgusting and always running out of soap.
Watch frozen ll with my friends, rlly big cinema compared to others. We even chat a bit with the “workers “ the room is pretty normal. Seats were comfortable and the popcorn was delicious since we ordered a double butter …
Great Cinema, a bit of line up for the concession stand but friendly and informative. They have a good arcade and large viewing options the rooms are spacious with large capacity though it is all on the second or third floor .
Always a winner... nice place , friendly. The only main issues are the mens room it smells strong, maybe it should be cleaned every hour with a signed schedule and butter tast old... but besides that it's awesome …
The staff were great. The tickets are not cheap, the concessions are even MORE overpriced. It's downtown, so parking is tough (a family of four by bus and Metro is more expensive than paying for street parking).
Expensive tickets for Imax...poor seating arrangement...the screen is huge but too big even if you are sitting halfway from the screen... didn't like it...they can do a lot more for what they are charging.
This was are first time at this theatre, the theatre is very modern with some arcade games. The seats are a little uncomfortable but it’s not bad. went to see Fast X (would definitely recommend watching)
Theatre itself was nice with a friendly staff. Awesome IMAX experience. Long lineup for concessions but efficiency made it move quickly. Bathrooms were beyond disgusting which is why it doesn’t get a 5.
Acoustics of the room were bad when the sound was very loud, but otherwise, great seats, they can lean a lot, and the view angle is good too, you don't have anyone in front of you blocking the view.
Best service I ever had! This man is a gift from god, truly one of a kind, didn’t have to wait 2 minutes for my popcorn. Man was a class act. Perfect in every way. Thanks chadi. Ps I love you. Xoxo
I've come here countless times, and I've never had the slightest issue. I've tried the IMAX, D-Box, and regular seats. Opening nights and random weekday matinees. It's always a good experience.
The seats are a bit too close each other and are getting a bit worse for wear (time to replace them?). I would still go see movies for sure. The bathrooms are pretty clean however, nice!
Well located downtown. Good seats which are learning back a bit when sitting in them do you can get comfi. Movies in English so for non French speakers a good place to spend some hours
Escalators are never working a lot of the times the bathrooms have broken toilets There is no longer anyone selling tickets in the front which makes it inconvenient for the movie goers
This place is great at butchering the movies. I’ve gone here twice, both times I wished I could’ve watched the movie on my couch. Obnoxiously loud and mumbly sound + blurred picture.
The movie experience is always great. But they need to do a better job with the bathrooms. One stall was so nasty, I'm sure drunken Brits or Frenchmen have better aim. What a mess.
I love going to this theatre. It's clean, the staff is courteous and their fast food is just as fine as going to another fast-food in the food court located in the lower level.
Either fix the escalators or tell handicapped people where the elevators are as 1/2 of them are out of order and trying to find staff to get you to the top floor us a PITA
Staff switch ON the lights the exact second the film ended, about a milisecond before the credits rolled. She/He had a date at 10. Expensive yet delicious Popcorn. 3 Stars
I love this cinema! Nice place to watch a movie and enjoying popcorn with your friends and family, very big and amazing movies very clean and all staff friendly …
Was there to check the UltraAVX, or Ultra Audio Visual Experience provided by Cineplex's as the next level of cinema, not a big difference though. Wasnt so impressed .
Last night, I tried D-box chairs here. It was cool You would feel more exciting plus it really helps your body to stay more relaxed because of the small moves. …
Imax seats are too narrow. I'm not big but we feel squeezed in those seats. At something around 25$ a ticket they shouldn't try to cram that much people in a theatre.
It's my favorite cinema! With comfortable seating, cutting-edge technology, and a variety of screening options, every visit is a cinematic delight waiting to happen!
