When Chelow BBQ announced their soft opening this week, I knew I had to try it out. Raised on middle eastern cuisine, I am very familiar with many of the spices and combinations used so I was excited to try! I ordered serveral dishes to try them out. The chicken and beef combo was very nice. There's a hint of lamb in the kebab, comes with rice, a roasted tomatoes, a coleslaw type salad and a yogurt based sauce with mint and cucumber. Everything was fresh and delicious but I found the rice a little bland. The soup (ash resteh) was probably my least favorite. If it was supposed to have a soup texture, it did not, perhaps the noodles and chickpeas absorbed the water because it arrived as a mush. If youve ever had Moroccan Harrira soup, it was similar to that. The Gorhmeh Sabzi is a parsley based sauce with beef, comes with rice on the side. If this is your mail meal, there really wasn't enough beef slices inside, maybe 4 small chunks but the taste was nice. Lastly the Mirza, is eggplant based, I found it very tasty and probably my favorite of the side dishes. I received 2 little containers of sumac. Overall, it was good, If you like restaurant Aryana Afghan then you'll definitely like this, it's very similar in style and taste of food. One thing that was missing from my entire meal was pita or some sort of bread. The food, as you can see is very saucy and a nice piece of pita to scoop it up would have added to it!
I recently dined at Chelow BBQ with my children, some of whom have life-threatening nut allergies (anaphylaxis), and unfortunately, I had a disappointing experience. My child has severe nut allergies, which require him to carry an epipen. The staff seemed indifferent to life-threatening allergies and became frustrated when we inquired about nuts in the dishes. A staff member told my son to try the food and see if he could taste the nuts. This raises serious concerns about the restaurant's commitment to customer safety and understanding the severity of food allergies. The meat was undercooked, compromising the overall quality of the dishes. We sent the meat back and were told that the blood was present because of the vein in that cut of meat. The kabab was not done, and the chicken skewers were bloody in some places. The pita bread under the kebab had blood from the meat mixed with grease and was inedible. I would caution others, especially those with allergies, to exercise caution before dining here. We are considering notifying the Ministry of Health in Quebec.

What an amazing family owned business! As this was my first Persian food experience (and definitely not the last!), the owners were exceptionally helpful in assisting me with establishing the best dishes and combinations to try. I ordered a takeout meal for 2. Lamb, beef and chicken skewers were grilled to perfection. Juicy meats flavoured from the charcoal grill made my car ride home very difficult as the odours in my car built up my appetite and anticipation! They offer a perfect amount of perfumed rice, sauces and accompanying spices ! The Mirza, eggplant dip, was amazing! I will be back soon to try one of their hottest items; Gheymeh…. lamb shank. I’m salivating just thinking about it. Make sure to call beforehand in case they run out! Although it’s located in the West Island, a bit out of the way for me, the distance is definitely worth the trip. Don’t hesitate! Impeccable & friendly service. Great quality and quantity for what you pay for.
Really beautiful restaurant. The chef REALLY gives his full attention to detail, and cares a lot about quality and customer satisfaction. He loves what he does, and you can tell the food is handmade with love - Take a look at this salad for example. Quality of the food is great. Every ingredient in the salad tasted FRESH. Roasted tomatoes were sweet. They definitely don’t skimp on saffron here. Delicious flavour, and meat well-done. The to-go dishes are also of high quality and leak-proof. My husband and I ordered 5 of their dishes. Garlic potatoes were amazing, crisp on the outside and not too salty like other places. This food is actually healthy and tastes as if it was made at home. We will definitely be coming here regularly and recommending our friends to come here too! It’s truly a hidden gem in Montreal. Wish I had known about this place sooner!
Another hidden GEM! Past by here many times and never even turned my head. I was invoted here for a dinner by a persian friend for a little catching up. What is persian bbq? Basically kabobs over charcoal grill! We had the kings feast! We were 3 men and coulsnt finish it. Had i think like 15 kabobs of choice and a bunch of persian side dishes. Everything was exquisite. The owner puts a lot of care and time into the prep and we can taste it. A side from the mains, i found a few things to not under rate at Chelow's. First off the potatoes were probably the best potatoea i have ever had! Nice crispy outside and soft tender insides. The second is their tea! Ill definitely be going back with others. Thanks for the great meal Chelow!

The positive: The koobideh chicken /beef mixed plate was really good.Good value and very delicious. The negative: We also ordered the Kabuli Pulao as well. It was almost inedible, the meat was burnt. We raised this concern to the owner and he didn’t seem to believe us and went to the extent in taking the meat and crushing the meat with his bare hands to show the meat is not that burnt. Not a pretty sight. Final thoughts: Full disclosure he didn’t charge us for the Kabuli Pulao, but he should’ve been more polite. The best part of this restaurant is the Koobideh and the stuff off the grill.

First time to eat at this restaurant and we were extremely happy. Food was so delicious and big quantity. Service was excellent and tea was served before ordering food and after. They have verity of choices so all can enjoy a meal there. We ordered" lentil soup, lumb biryani, shish kabab with sumac potatoes and salad" Recommended to visit this place. Update: Adding more pictures from my second visit to this restaurant. Fantastic food and excellent service.

Great service from friendly staff. Food was fresh and well packed for my party of 10. Mohsen advised on what to try and he was bang on. Everything we tried was simply amazing, no exaggeration: meat, chicken, mint/cucumber yogurt, potatoes, mirza. He packed more than enough butter, sumak, pita, roasted green chili peppers & tomatoes, and crispy fried onions. The hot sauce (bandari) had heat and excellent flavor. While we waited for the order, they offered us complimentary tea. Nice cozy atmosphere in this hidden gem. Wish this place lots of success and prosperity.
I called on the phone to come pick up a meal for me and my family, communication was great. I came in 35 minutes later and everything was ready. As soon as you enter the restaurant, you are immediately greeted by the most amazing staff. They are friendly and funny yet professional. Two of the staff helped me put the food in my car since I had a couple of boxes. I thanked them and then left to go home. In conclusion, the food was amazing, not expensive and quick to make. I’m definitely coming back and I would suggest it to people who love food!
I recently ordered Joojeh and Koobideh from this restaurant through an online service. The Koobideh was moderate in taste, but it was quite evident that it wasn't fresh. As for the Joojeh, it was disappointing. It had a very unpleasant smell that made it inedible, and unfortunately, I had to throw it away.

They should work hard to improve the quality of Koobideh! I am sure this was not their best food they served! In a competitive market they lose the market if they do not work on the quality of the food! I would like to see their success in a near future. I always tried to support the local businesses, specially Iranian ones. But based on what I had last night, I can only say good luck!
The food is very tasty. I ordered the 1-kilo family combo. The Kobab (mixte beef and lamb) is verrrrrry tasty even though the spice is soft. The staff are nice and friendly. They offer me a cup of Thea while I'm waiting. We will definitely order again.

Generous portions. Best sumac potatoes I've had, especially with garlic sauce. Lamb Biryani was nice. Family deluxe plate was alright, just wasn't as seasoned as the lamb or potatoes unfortuantely. Saffron rice pudding (small) was still enough for a few people, flavour was typical.

Excellent place for grilled meats in the West Island. We loved their grilled chicken, beef and lamb. The chicken biryani is a must. Excellent sandwiches with garlic sauce. Potatoes and garlic sauce are an absolute must also! Portions are very generous. Bonus, the owners are adorable

Got take out, the beef was very good, the chicken was overcooked. Our favorite was the mirza, fasted like the Arab baba ghanoush but with a Persian twist. They yogurt drink was not our favorite, it's basically ayran with soda.
