If I could leave 0 stars I would!!! Traveled from Columbia for a fun weekend in Charlotte and happened upon Cedar Street Tavern. The server who’s name is Sarah? (Brunette wearing grey at approx 4PM on 4/9/22) was extremely unprofessional when me and my friends, who had literally just walked through the door were trying to order. She had a horrible attitude and was disrespectful towards a few of the girls simply because we were deciding what to drink. The bar was NOT busy and we were not at all rowdy, we simply wanted to order a drink. Also, we heard her cursing and talking about our group WHILE we were there, to others who were also with us!! Honestly sort of killed the mood but we were able to shrug it off and continue our fun day. Please re-train Sarah on her Customer Service Skills seeing as we were NOT the problem, she was.

Never in my ten years of working in this same industry have I had such a horrible experience. Me and my wife frequent this bar often. Usually the bartender is a lady with dark hair(who is awesome), or it’s this gentleman that wears a hat might be red headed? And middle aged. Well tonight we sat at the bar ten minutes before being treated which is fine, I’m a server no problem with that. When he finally does appear and come over immediately I notice he’s off. He’s starts talking but is slurring his speech and almost incoherent. I myself am actually in recovery so sadly know what this looks like. He continues to talk and while taking is nodding off and gazing in and out. There is so much more but I’ll leave it at that, it’s an experience I’d rather forget all together. I’ll never return again.

I’ve been coming here for just shy of a year. Everyone knows everyone type of place. I don’t know but here recently the vibe has been off and one of the waitresses ( amber? I believe ) just genuinely does not seem to enjoy being employed there. Very bad attitude when serving, speaking out to customers myself included about how she is wanting quit. Making racial remarks about how certain people aren’t gonna tip. Just overall a negative experience with her. I’ve personally seen regulars come in see that she’s working and just leave because they don’t want to have a negative interaction. I love the family like feel at the tavern and I want to continue to frequent but I will not be until something changes with her.

We are from out of town. We came to Charlotte to move our son to his dorm. He’s training to be chef. The short story: were eating out of our hotel room. The rib eye was over done, over peppered and too tough to eat. The bourbon salmon was small and dry. The onion rings had the crust of Kentucky Fried chicken. The small roll was burnt on one side. The mashed potatoes looked like they were plopped on the plate with an ice cream scope. Perhaps it was because this was because it was dine out instead dine in. Unfortunately we will not find out. Suggest getting a freshman chef from JWU.

Nice place, with friendly staff. Prices on food and beverages was pleasingly on the low side, but the quality of the food was only so-so. I had the ribeye entree, and while the taste was good, the meat itself was of poor quality, fatty and gristle-laden. Veggies were tasty and the portions were very good. I was hoping for a good meal at a good price, but instead I got a subpar steak with a low price as an excuse.

Cedar street is awesome. I’ve been here dozens of times and the drinks, food, staff are always great. Never had an issue with them. Cedar street, I love y’all very much, but please don’t allow alcoholic trash to sit there for hours until they’re trying to fight with people. Kick them out and tell them to be alcoholics in their own apartment, or whatever hole in the woods they crawled out of.

We were looking for a place for lunch before a concert at BoA Stadium, and this place was perfect! Being a few blocks away, it was an easy walk and also got us out of the congestion of the immediate area around the stadium. The menu has a very decent amount of options with a touch of eccentricity. Everything we had was fresh and the staff were extremely pleasant. I would highly recommend!

Their brunch is the best! We had friends visiting us from Charleston and took them here for brunch on Sunday. They said it was a top 5 omlet they had ever eaten. Drink prices are on par with what you're going to pay at an uptown bar but they always have drink specials. My favorite part is the "tree" that's the bar/part of the ceiling and the shooting star they have during the evenings.

  • Johan Roldan

Very slow and careless service! I was there during lunch time but the restaurant was pretty empty so no reason to have waited almost 40 mins for the food, at the end I had to ask to have it to go. You'd think service is more efficient during lunch time mostly if there isn't many customers. Waitress never checked with me the whole time I was there besides the time I ordered the food.

First time going here. Went with coworkers. The food came out quickly. And everyone seemed to enjoy their meals. I will say I almost thought my wings were put in the microwave. They were piping hot. Like wayyyy hotter than just fresh from a fryer. I eat wings A LOT! I will say the wings were decent though. Will I go back? Yes, I will. Will I order the wings again? Yes, probably.

  • Tanya “The DeVa” DeVaughn

Ordered the rib eye steak, medium rare To Go. Came with 1/2 baked potato, mixed veggies and a roll. Very disappointed by the steak as it was inedible. It was hard and impossible to cut. I paid almost $20 basically for a roll, a half potato and veggies. Had to toss the steak. Very disappointing! I will say the bar tender was very nice, but I most likely will not visit again.

We stopped in on a whim and were pleasantly surprised. It was a very cozy place. The bartender greeted us upon entry. We sat at a booth and he promptly go took our drink order and a bit later our food order. The food came out in a timely manner. We each ordered the cheeseburger and it was excellent. Overall, this Tavern is a neat little gem that is worth looking for.

I found this place on Google maps to find a place to eat while visiting from Raleigh. Ashleigh was a great server. I'll definitely ask for her to serve me again when I come back to Charlotte in the future. Ashleigh recommended the fettuccine pasta, and it was tasty. Next time I'm gonna try the chicken tenders.

Much better options elsewhere. Went with my co-workers and they charged us a 20% mandatory gratuity for parties of 5 or more! Crazy. We were from out of town and they asked us to play trivia. We stayed and played, ordering food and additional drinks and we won $10.00 gift card in the trivia which they would also not let us use. Food was fair, not good not bad.

  • Jimy George

Really good steak burger on the lunch specials. Sweet potato fries as a side was decent. Others with me enjoyed their pizza, grilled chicken salad and veggie burger as well. Not very big dining area but quaint and seems like it would be packed in the evenings. Great location at intersection, primarily just street meter parking nearby as an option.

  • Phil Harrell

Great neighbor bar to have a burger and beer and watch a game (Duke vs UNC or Panthers vs. Vikings) with friends. Oh, the brunch omelets with crispy bacon is amazing! 11/13/2016 New Menu: Cedar Street has a new menu with very tasty fish tacos. Just had them and they were so delicious! And the staff is courteous, polite and friendly.

  • Andrew Hunter

Saw an argument break out in the middle of a restaurant. A middle aged woman who seemingly got away from her kids for 5 minutes was drunk beyond belief and screaming her lungs out after every play during a game. Then spat water on a guy who called her "heavy girl". One of the most awkward experiences of my life. Tread lightly here.

  • I M

Bless our waitresses heart. At first, one is taken back because it appears to be noon diverse, but the bartender is pleasant and sweet. Place your order with Sarah she's the greatest! Can't go wrong w the mozzarella sticks lol. Everything else is rather bland. Bring ya season salt witcha. Lol but go here for drinks and a pit stop.

  • Jeff E

Weird shaped bar. Overall felt closed in. No conversation with the Bartender. He seemed introverted. I tried to talk to a couple of people, but not much luck. I like freindly and entertaining places. So keep that in perspective as you read this. I may have just hit the wrong time. It was about 7:30 to 8 on a wednesday.

  • Kelle Pressley

Cute little neighborhood bar! Lots of regulars go there. Almost puts you in the mindset of the sitcom - “Cheers!” Where everyone knows your name & they’re always glad you came. - yeah- that. Type of place. The bartender isn’t there for tips. Or she wasn’t that keen on us because she wasn’t as friendly to us.

  • Chuck Howard

I frequent this place often. It is really a neighborhood bar but please come and be part of the neighborhood. I have probably had everything on the menu and never been disappointed. The owners take pride in this tavern/bar. I strongly suggest giving this place a try. I love it and you will too.

  • Clif Carter

We came here tonight after the Panthers game and had a great time. We watched the Sunday night NFL game here. Great crowd and the bartender was very knowledgeable about their beer and wine selection. Their beer taps were a great combo of local and tradtional selections. Great job!

Nice chill vibe, good place to catch a game and on weeknights the bar is fun, everyone pretty low key and just chatting. Gets a little wild on weekends. Food is solid, burgers and salads especially. Good go to place to just drop in on a weeknight or party on a weekend.

Try the Apple Chicken Salad, with candied pecans. You can balanve that booze with a healthy and delicious meal. It's a massive salad too. I'm a 190 lb dude and I couldn't finish it.

Came here with a friend Saturday. Queso dip is nacho cheese and crab dip was fishy smelling which is not a good indicator of freshness. The only saving grace was the Deep Eddys Fueled Lemonade. Pretty good. Not coming back this is not a place where good food is.

  • Jessica Dinkins-Johnson

Our table was not cleaned. Our area was extremely cold that we had to move. Our server messed up EVERYONE order that one person in our party did not even get to eat. The drinks we wanted they did not even have.. I WILL NOT COME HERE AGAIN OR RECOMMEND

Just now picked up my two fav things I always used to get. The cheese fries were undercooked. And my wings were burnt. Asked for side order of Buffalo sauce instead of ranch. And found none. Regret going back there. Took pics but not able to upload.

  • Susan C

Expected more of a pub/tavern vibe. It has more of a commercial / sports bar atmosphere. We went there for lunch and found the food to be good (nothing great). I ordered a Black & Bleu burger with fries. The fries were soggy but the burger was good.

  • Paul Vanasse

Simple place with great food and service. While waiting on friends, I spilled an entire glass of water in my booth. The waittress, completely unannoyed, helped out immeduitey and sent me to another booth. Then the hamburger I ordered was fantastic!

  • Justin Jones

Kind of cramped inside due to an unorthodox bar layout but the food was quite good. I had them make me a Sweet Thai Chili wrap (the shrimp was on the menu, the wrap wasn't) and it was PRETTY good. Glad to see people being flexible with the menu.

  • Hima T

I don’t know who answered the phone when I called tonight, it’s a Thursday around 11:50 not too late, but she was incredibly rude and cursed me out for no reason when I was asking about the menu. Quick way to lose the business of gateway locals

  • Melissa Goldberg

I will not be eating here again. I hate that I spent $15 on a lunch that I ended up throwing away. The baked potato had to be days old. It was so hard I could not get my fork to go through it. The lettuce on my sandwich was brown and soggy.

  • Kris

Best trivia night by far! (typically every Wednesday) Also service is great and the happy hour specials are some of the best around, specifically the food. Do yourself a favor and order the chicken tenders grilled. Fun times to be had!

  • Parker Downing

We ate lunch at the Cedar Street Tavern on the day of the Clemson/Georgia football game in Charlotte. Even though they were very busy that day, the service was great and the food was excellent. We highly recommend Cedar Street Tavern.

  • Brad Long

My favorite thing is the convenience to Gateway. With few options around it's a nice place to sit down for lunch and catch a break. I always get the caesar salad with salmon - obviously my go to. Sandwiches look good too... some day.

I stopped by for lunch during a cycling break. This place was quick and accurate. I ordered chicken tacos and was disappointed with the taste of the chicken. They were tiny, diced pieces of chicken which also seemed dry.

  • Matthew Gantz

Fun space with typical bar food but a GREAT trivia night! Questions are good for people new to trivia and generally relate to pop culture (so a lot of different people can feel the joy of answering a question correctly).

  • Alyssa Sciannella

This diamond in the rough provides delicious, high quality foods with tons of flavor!! I enjoyed a salmon Cesar salad while my boyfriend got the prime rib sandwich. Good food for a decent price and wonderful service.

  • Timothy Haynie

We enjoyed eating here very much! Did not have a gluten free menu. But was able to help me by answering my questions. Not sure if I will ever get to come back to Charlotte. If I do I will consider Cedar Street again!

  • Pokemon X7

Overpriced, dirty tables, rude management that tells people to leave if they only want to order beverages. Located in off-main venue dingy building, bad neighborhood. Definitely DO NOT recommend Cedar Street Tavern.

  • Phillip Steinmetz

Came down from Cincinnati for the Panthers vs. Bills game. Came here to tailgate. The food was absolutely fantastic and the drink specials were very reasonable. I highly recommend this place to anybody!

  • Michael Jeter

Bartenders are rude and unattentive. Was also over charged for drinks I did not order. In addition, food has been cold the three times that I have patronized this restaurant and not very good. I'm done.

  • Janell

Food was great, food cost was descent, short wait time, nice server her name was Taylor, bathrooms could use some update but hey it was not to to bad. They played all genres of music. Great atmosphere.

  • Jazylah Sanders

  • Courtney Boger

Food was decent. Not great. Wasn’t that busy and took a long time for us to order, even longer to receive food. Took close to an hour to receive a pizza that was not cooked all the way

Jess GREAT bartender!! knows what's she doing. Customer Service on point. Wish I weren't just here for work. But will be back to visit. Nice cozy bar after hours on a Sunday.

The set up of the bar has a lot of wasted space. The food was very good along with the beer. People are friendly. As a New Yorker we always want a little faster service.
