From the moment we walked into the dimly lit, speakeasy bar, we were greeted with kindness. A bar tender who wanted to make sure that you got to experience the best of the best. He was very in tune with his customers, you could tell that he was keen for a good chin wag if you were but was also very comfortable to let you sit and take in the slow paced relaxed atmosphere. As my husband slipped down and relaxed into his chair, legs out and ankles crossed he even said ‘gosh I feel comfortable here’. With knowledge off the top of his head the bar tender was so easily able to discuss any whisky you selected from the menu. With a bowl of fresh salty crisps, it was the slow paced, smooth place you wanted to be for the night. What a great attraction for Healesville. Word of mouth will be that you cannot go past the brilliant customer service and knowledge.

New to Healesville Cavanagh's Wisky Bar & Ale house is a must visit location. Quite and layed back environs with Artisan beer's & delicious Cocktails, BUT, if you enjoy Wisky & Scotch, this is the place to be & with the right man behind the bar to ensure you have a fabulous experiance. Brendan has a flawless knowledge on each and every one of his wisky's and a passion he is willing to share if you want to envite him to share. Thank you Brendan for one of the most enjoyable two hour, I greatly appreciated your knowlede, enthusiasm and excellent service. I will be returning with more of my friends to experience your wonderful bar in the very near future.

Healesville is a charming country town, lovely ambiance and is generally very friendly and welcoming. It was incredibly unexpected to find one of Australia's best whiskey bars here but Brendan and Mark not only are incredibly friendly, and knowledgeable with their whiskeys but can also make a mean whiskey sour and fit a whiskey to you better than a Saville Row tailor can fit you a suit. Would I come back? Honestly Cavanagh's would be the main reason I would come back to Healesville and if you don't order a Pickle Back to the Future you've missed out on one of the truely great experiences in this life.

Excellent choice of whisky’s, ales and cocktails, we were made very welcome upon arrival, with nibbles provided as soon as we sat down. We traveled from Melbourne and will make it a regular visit, well worth travelling to or if you’re a local, you’re lucky it’s in your hood!

Loved this place. Owner very friendly and staff lovely. Really knowledgeable about the various whisky’s (or whiskey’s if you’re from that lush and green isle) and good demographic with the clientele. Try a Cooper Peaty (geddit?) if you fancy something different. If you’re on smoko there’s a handy area out front and you won’t be judged. Looking forward to them doing food at some point. Defo a good place for a date as well. Noice, different and Unusual.

Recent addition to the Healesville bar scene and it's a welcome one. Owner/bartender Brendan is a wealth of whisky knowledge with dozens upon dozens of whiskies hand selected at your disposal. 3 or 4 tap beers (and countless by the can/bottle too) mean a great boilermaker is a speciality. Terrific local representation of product and a relaxed, but vibrant feel throughout the bar. Highly recommend.

I love this place. The owners have somehow managed to cast a spell, passed down since ancient times from somewhere very secret in Scotland, on the business to create a wonderful vibe of friendliness, affability, humour and generosity of spirit on all who enter. Damned fine whisky and ales, and a place you'd be lucky to discover in a city of ten million people tucked away in Healesville.

We're visiting Healesville from interstate and couldn't help but notice this groovy little spot on the main street as we were walking past. We loved our afternoon here! Beaut little whiskey bar with an excellent range and a friendly knowledgable owner. You can tell heart and soul has gone into Cav's and we wish it was our local. Superb whisky selection rivalling the very best bars in the city, nicely selected choice of local beers on tap and in the fridge, friendly staff in a very welcoming atmosphere, and some nice looking light snacks. Thankfully this isn’t near where I live or they would have all my money.

An Alehouse with pride. Brendan has created something truly special here, his dedication, knowledge and friendliness creates an atmosphere you can just relax in for hours. No pushing to buy the top shelf and just a helpful guide to alternate whiskeys or ales to compliment your particular palette. Would love to come back again soon.

We were in town for the weekend and so many people told us we had to check this place out. Lived up to the hype! Brendo made us feel at home (despite my lack of knowledge in the world of Whisky). If you’re in the area it’s a must! Great vibe! Great night! Looking forward to getting back!

Best whiskey/whisky bar in Healesville, what's important is that its not pretentious but the staff really know their stuff. Great selection. Moderately priced drops as well as high quality spirits available, as well as a few unique drops.

Great little bar with a great barman/owner. As an out of towner I was very pleased to stumble upon this place with my partner. As a new venue in a tough market, I really hope they get support and here for a long time yet.
