My father-in-law had passed away at his assisted living facility here in San Antonio. His wish was to be cremated here in San Antonio but buried with his wife back in their home state of Kansas. The night he passed away Hospice called several funeral homes in San Antonio requesting for his body to be transported to their facility in order for cremation to take place. After calling numerous funeral homes they said they could not take possession of my father-in-law's body due to them being corporate operated and his ashes were being transferred to a family-owned funeral home in Kansas. I had never heard of that and neither did the Hospice Nurse who was making the arrangements. I was actually appalled. I informed the Hospice nurse to contact Castle Ridge Mortuary since I knew it was family operated. Within 45 minutes two staff members from Castle Ridge Mortuary were at the facility to receive my father-in-law. It was very hard saying good-bye to my father-in-law that evening but the young man and young woman from Castle Ridge, Joseph and Julia, definitely help ease the pain. They both introduced themselves to me, my son, and the Hospice Nurse and communicated their condolences to us. They explained the procedure in transporting his body. While Hospice was preparing my father-in-law's body to be transported, Joseph and Julia, stood in silence with great respect outside his room waiting word from the Hospice nurse. Joseph and Julia offered us numerous and ample time to say good bye. They were the most courteous, sympathetic and professional individuals. I was at total ease allowing them to take my father-in-law's body. They treated his body with the utmost respect and dignity I could ask for. After loading his body into the vehicle, which was done with great care, we all stood in silence and respect for Lloyd, father-in-law. Before departing Joseph and Julie shook my hand, my son, and the Hospice nurse and stated their condolences again. Castle Ridge, as instructed, cremated my father-in-law and allowed us to transport his ashes to his final resting place in Kansas. I also would like to add that I was introduced to Nina, staff member, when I retrieved my father-in-law's death certificate. A very polite and professional individual and the facility is absolutely gorgeous and has a very calming atmosphere. If my father-in-law's wishes were to be buried in San Antonio we would have had Castle Ridge Mortuary handle the entire funeral arrangements. Thank you Richardo Sanchez and Castle Ridge Mortuary Staff to help ease the pain during this difficult time. I could not recommend this facility enough. They definitely touched our hearts !
Where do I begin… You never know the right place to bury your child. I have lived my biggest fear. During this difficult time this funeral home staff helped me loved my family and I. They were so patient, kind loving and understanding. They rushed nothing they communicated every step of the way. My beloved son looked perfect and I mean PERFECT just as he was when he was alive. Nina is the most angelic woman I have met in my entire life. She left a mark on my families heart. She was as beyond professional with a heart of gold, she respect all our wishes and she stood in the gap when anyone came in between that. I owe so much more than a review. They treated my son like a King and they did it gracefully. I never thought a day like this would come but this staff was anything and everything I could ask for. I had a special requests for my sons services and Nina didn’t second guess it, she made sure it happened. His services were beautiful. The peace and love that’s staff pour into families during their darkest hours truly amazes me. Thank you so much ladies I would like to close with this because I believe it’s very important, during the process of planning my sons services I truly didn’t know what I was doing and she understood and felt my pain having to bury my 17 year old son and I was faced with a tragedy that no mother should ever have to face and Nina turned to me and told me “ we are not salesman, we are a ministry here at Castle Ridge “and that immediately gave me confirmation from the Lord that I picked the right funeral home for my beloved son James Matthews funeral services.
Dear Castle Ridge Mortuary, On behalf of my family, I want to express our sincere appreciation for the professional, sympathy, and kindness we received during the loss of my husband, Rocky. Everyone was so amazing with their wisdom, support and guidance during this most difficult time for all of us. Words cannot express our sincere appreciation for everyone’s extraordinary assistance in coordinating his funeral. Joseph, Breana, Gabriela, Donny, Hannah, Amber and Taylor were all so kind and professional. Joe, thank you for your kindness and sympathy from our first meeting to discuss Rocky’s services. You made a difficult time so easy and effortless for us. The fishing background for his obituary was such a perfect tribute to his most enjoyed past time. Breana, I can’t thank you enough for all the hard work you did to make Rocky’s slideshow look beautiful and such a perfect tribute to him. Amber, thank you for your honesty, sympathy and kindness you expressed to my family and me. We are so grateful to have been able to say our goodbyes to my husband. Taylor, thank you for being so thoughtful and for your continued guidance. You are amazing at your profession and are so genuine with your caring and honesty at such difficult times in people’s lives. Thank you all again for making Rocky’s services so beautiful and perfect. I wish you all much success in your future endeavors. Sincerely, Tracy Closna & family
Dear Castle Ridge Mortuary At 8008 Military Drive, Our mother Annie Biayobzcki died unexpectedly, and our family was devastated and in a state of confusion. Upon making arrangements for our mother to be taken to Castle Ridge Mortuary we were given an appointment to meet with our funeral director the next day. From the moment we arrived we were greeted with sincerest condolences by their professional staff. We were introduced to our funeral director Taylor Gonzales. Taylor was very empathetic, professional, and sweet during the entire planning process. She walked us through every step and gave us time to process and discuss among each other what we felt would be the best services for our mother. We highly recommend Taylor because she went beyond her job description. Taylor felt our pain and brought comfort to us with her professional support and her compassion towards our family. Taylor will always be a friend to our family and have a special place within our hearts. We highly recommend Castle Ridge Mortuary because their employees are wonderful and professional, the chapel is beautiful and there isn’t any pressure during the whole process of planning a funeral. This is what you need when you are dealing with an unexpected death in the family. Sincerely, The Olguin Family
Beautiful and clean. My Mother passed 2 weeks ago and she looked amazing. Sabrina was vital in putting together all of pictures we emailed her. On another note there is alot of deficiencies in their services: -Florist only offers artificial flowers. -No sound system in viewing/chapel to play your requested music...only elevator music. When I asked if they could play 2 songs off my phone that my Dad requested, I was told to go to the podium/microphone and hold my phone up to it...really?? -Pictures in frames were taken to be placed by sign-in table...3 could not be found or displayed until later during visitation. -The first 2 rows not reserved during service...people sat there, thus, my 5 siblings and myself were scattered and not seated next to my Dad. -Same problem at the grave site...I am handicapped and I had to stand...so mad!! -While we were still at the burial site the workers at the cemetary backed up their truck and lifted the casket into a tube that looked like a filthy trash can and hauled the casket away as my father stood crying! So angry about the "low rent" actions that took place...go elsewhere...please!
They held funeral services for my little brother... There was family drama so Castle did a great job at have the people they needed in place. You can tell that they didn't know how to handle a difficult situation between families, IDK but with death comes all types of emotions and expressions. The ladies there where super awesome and super nice. There was another mid age gentleman that was there very nice. So, when it all went down with disagreement and who authorized what... This old dude started talking to me all crazy and I'm in the back back he was like you need to go over there and handle this but like with authority because he had a cop with him... 1st of all I'm in the back because I not about to get involved regardless of who right and who's wrong. 2nd who's he to come to me ask talk to me sideways nwith no respect. (Eyes wide open) 3rd go do what you got to do.... Don't expect me to do your job. After our little high volume discussion in front of the cop... Never saw that dude again... The lady that serviced us the rest of the day and next was awesome.
From the moment we walked in Castle Ridge, we knew we were "with family". The building smelled clean, AC was cool, and the staff was friendly, precise, professional, attentive, and compassionate. Everything was on time and set up as requested. My family was treated very special by the staff especially, by Gabriela, the funeral director, who planned the funeral and all the details and requests with ease. We were comforted knowing our mother and my mother-in-law was in good hands. Nina, the manager, Brady, the assistant, and Hannah, the other assistant were very friendly and approachable. Ms. Jen, Josue, and Olivia were incredible assisting us as well during the rosary and viewing. Mr. Rick Sanchez was very professional and attentive to our family as we laid her to rest and expressed his condolences as well. We highly recommend you meet with Gabriela and Nina, the funeral directors for your funeral needs. They are the best! Thank you to all the staff of Castle Ridge! My mother-in-law would be so happy with how she was treated. We really were "with family".
At a very difficult time due to the unexpected loss of a brother (son to a mother) the Castleridge mortuary ( at 8008 Military drive ) and it amazing staff, Funeral director (Alma) provided the most comprehensive, professional and above all the most compassionate service we have ever experienced during this very painful period. Unfortunately, there has been quite a few deaths in our family in the last 10’years, therefore can provide a means to measure services (we have used most of the funeral mortuary providers in San Antonio) and can, without a doubt state CastleRidge by far executed all our wishes and exceeded all our expectations beyond all previous experiences with other providers. We cannot express in words how greatful our family is to Castleridge for the beautiful service and loving experience they provided. We were treated as family. You will always be revered for your compassionate services. Best wishes to you from the Rangel Family. God Bless you!
Your building security alarm has been blaring since 9:30PM December 29th 2020. My husband has called non-emergency multiple times to report it. He also took the telephone number listed on your page and called personally. Calls & Time Non-Emergency 10:15PM 11:30PM And personal call to number listed on website December 30th, 2020 @ 12:30AM 2AM It is now 2:15AM on December 30th, 2020. I deserve to SLEEP! You apparently do not care for your establishment otherwise someone would have been out assessing the building. Checking every area and getting the alarm to stop so you are not disturbing neighborhood nearby or the apartment complex across the street. To those looking for a funeral home. I would not trust them if they cannot even go check up on their building when alarms are going off.
I've recently lost my mother, we thought it would be a nice sentiment to have her services here, because this is also where her mother and father had their services. From the get go they were money hungry, inconsiderate and just plain rude. That morning we went to set up accommodations they wanted the full amount paid right then and there that day by 5 pm. Rene even sent my father a rather rude voice mail demanding the money sooner. The male staff were completely incompetent , the male staff abruptly yelled and hassled my grieving guest during services. If it wasn't one thing it was another with this mortuary, the only positive things i have to say are about Nina who was wonderful and compassionate. Dont throw your money away here, seek services elsewhere.
I took my father In February 2020 to make changes to his arrangements. The first was he wanted my sisters name removed as he was adamant of not having her involved in his arrangements. In 2012 her name was listed on all paperwork including her receiving his flag.My father paid for all arrangements. The second item was providing a DD214 so he could be buried at FT Sam. The gentlemen who we spoke with was no longer employed My father passed 5/2020 and the only part of my Fathers wishes that were honored was his burial. Samantha the Director is rude and unprofessional. Never use this place. Unprofessional and clueless. So much for honoring a persons wishes.
In the making a difficult time easier, I want to thank Ricardo Sanchez and especially his staff for their help. After the passing of our Loved one, the things to have to consider are overwhelming. Thankfully Castle Ridge Mortuary staff member Nina Levis was our "Clarity". She worked with us through several changes we made along the way to make the Grave Marker 100% exactly what we wanted! She was Compassionate and patient and professional throughout the whole process. Thank You Castle Ridge and especially to Nina. From start to finish a Class Act organization! Highly recommended and respectable friendly people! Best Wishes, The Larralde Family.
This place was beautiful, big, and comfortable but I can’t give enough praise for how well they took care of my best friend during the worst time of her life. Her son was killed and they made him look just like his handsome self. They honored all of her wishes and helped guide her through this process. I’ve seen other funeral homes treat grieving families with indifference because I assume they see it too many times but not here. The lady who was helping her treated her like family and showed she cared. I am extremely grateful for all they did for my soul sister and her son.
Taylor, thank you for all that you have done for me and my kids. We've had a reputable experience with your Mortuary and it's all because of you and your staff. You are the best that any mourning family could ever have by their side while they're mourning their loss. You stuck with us til the end and you were always attentive in all that you did for us. For that, I am so very appreciative of you. I commend you and pray that God blesses you tenfold in all that you do. - Lorraine Mulitauaopele and kids. Been using them since 2009. And highly suggest them to anyone seeking services with dignity for their loved ones. My church family has began using Castle Ridge more often than the competition that was usually first choice for many years. Every service I have attend here was done respectfully. When my niece was prepared everything was done as we requested and she looked amazing. I will continue recommending Castle Ridge to anyone who wants compassion and dignity and respect when dealing with the loss of their loved ones.
BEWARE! DO NOT USE THIS PLACE! From being misquoted pricing THREE TIMES to having the wrong casket ordered, to having the director woman incorrectly tell us “rules” about how our services should go, only to find out later things could be different and the information was wrong..... this experience was a total let down, especially in our time of mourning and stress. It basically caused so much conflict between our family and added stress to an already difficult time. SAVE YOUR FAMILY THE TROUBLE AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!
I went in to make a pre-arrangement for my parents and was beyond pleased with the customer service I received. Mr. Salazar made my experience memorable. I had been to several places and was not greeted as warmly as I was here. As soon as I walked in I was greeted with a smile. I was also able to tour the facility and meet several staff members, who were all very friendly and welcoming. Needless to say I am glad I chose Castle Ridge. Highly Recommend!!!
With the loss of my mother, I felt my world was falling apart. Nina (Funeral Director) was of great assistance & guided my family thru the great loss of my mother. At the funeral home, all staff treated us like family and with sincere compassion. Nina, thank you from the bottom of my heart for the services that you and your staff provided us. I truly could not have chosen a better funeral home for my Mother's funeral. From the Vergara-Gonzalez Family.
I couldn’t be happier with the services provided by Nina and the staff at Castle Ridge. You guys were so patient, understanding, and helpful throughout the entire experience. Everyone was so nice & very attentive. You guys did such a great job with our Loved one, he looked so good and services were Beautiful and went very smooth. Again, on behalf of myself & the family we send a big Thank You to you and your team for everything! ️
It was such a joy to have Castle Ridge staff assist, support, mediate, and to give professional recommendations regarding Noel’s remains. It’s such a sad situation, that it’s important to have a mortuary company that knows the state laws, requirements and regulations. Gabby was definitely an asset and knows here job, to include the Funeral Director. Thank you so much for assisting the family and making the process comfortable.
My mom’s services were held on 2-23 and 2-24 and Gabriela was our funeral director and honestly she went above and beyond there was nothing she didn’t assist with! The day of her services there were two staff members one man name Johnny and the lady I don’t remember but they too helped out in so many way! Thank you to all staff my mom was Luciana Martinez and I am Cassandra Escobedo I am so grateful for everything
Do not waste your time or money with this place. I had to send several emails to our funeral director Samantha Reyes correcting our dad's name! She apparently did not pay attention to his military paperwork we gave her at the meeting. If you don't mind inaccurate printing of prayer cards and memory book then this is the place for you. The rest of the staff we dealt with were extremely helpful and considerate.
I am very pleased with Alaina and the Castle Ridge Mortuary team. They made the planning of my dad's services very smooth. They were very understanding and accommodating with all my requests. The team was very professional. I hope I don't have to use their services again for a very long time however I do recommend Castle Ridge should anyone else need funeral services. Thank you Castle Ridge team!
We were very satisfied with 2 funeral arrangements for my son and my brother that Castle Ridge Mortuary handled for our family the staff and director was very professional and kind. They have memorial services and give out beautiful paradise plants and entertainment and offered pastries and refreshments, it was beautiful! We highly recommend, this is our neighborhood Mortuary for our family as well
Jessica and Brianna where very professional Jessica answered and help us with a timely manner and was very helpful whenever our loved one passed away I had a great service Brianna helped us move out belongings to our vehicles thank y’all for being so supportive and nice I never forget Jessica and Brianna for being there for us last week.
AWESOME Castle Ridge Mortuary/ Richardo Sanchez. You have an extraordinary big heart for helping not only Kayla today. But, years ago when you helped me bury my two Brothers six months apart then my Dad I felt lost, and BC of you I have a lot to be grateful. Thank You Jesus for this AWESOME FABULOUS MAN!!!!!
Rude! The like to change the prices of items the day of services. No one seems to know anything and the staff always has to go back to the funeral director to get answers. I wish I didn’t have family that had already purchased funeral plans from here cause I’d be happy to never come back here again.
Very professional staff that was helping my friend Mary who passed away, Jessica & Brianna where there for everyone & very professional whenever we needed something Jessica would do it professionally and quickly @ Brianna would help us with any questions-thank you Kevin mandm
Wonderful experience. Staff was kind and made our days that were hard a little easier to cope during this time. I highly recommend Castle Ridge Mortuary to friends and or family that need caring hearts to help plan for their family. Thank you again Castle Ridge.
Mr. Sanchez and Mrs. Levis were so very patient and kind in supporting our very large family through the loss of our matriarch. The chapel was large enough for very many family members and friends. Their entire team was professional and helpful.
Mr. Sanchez and his staff exceed their motto of treating clients like family. Their professionalism and empathy assist families going through a difficult time. The sincerity and compassion of those at Castle Ridge is genuine.
The staff is amazing and very compassionate. They care about the families and go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable during this difficult time. I will definitely recommend to all my family and friends.
I have known the ownership for almost 20 years. This is a compassionate family with deep roots in Texas that have always put others before themselves. I highly recommend them.
Attended service for a friend of mine who lost her son and I will say...they did an outstanding job with all the accommodations that were made. Keep up the great work.
Rick Sanchez is very compassionate about his work and will guide you all the way. We have been very happy with the services we have had here. I will only trust them!
We've used this place for years and years and all my family members and will continue to use them. Very professional staff. I highly recommend this business.
