Just to reply to your comment .. I worked in hospitality for over 20yrs the most high end hospitality venues in Melbourne therefore I know a thing or two about RSA I would have been more than greatful if that was the case if I was drunk and someone cut off .. it's scientifically impossible for an adult male to be drunk after 1 drink which btw was not the greatest negroni .. You are obviously covering your staffs discriminatory practices I was the only non white person and your staff decided to make a discriminatory call backed up by the manager which makes it even worse .. the white girl next to me was drunk and drop her phone the same staff kept refilling her drink .. the other white male was also obviously drunk leaning on the counter .. was not cut off .. none of the other white patrons were cut off after their first drink because it would be ridiculous .. but 'normal' when its comes to a non white person .. everytime I pass by on my way to home i realise how white your venue is all the patrons are all white ..It would be great for venues like yours to put a sign that you are uncomfortable serving PoC .. please educate yourself or your staff about actually how RSA actually works .. its not personal it's about your venue wanting only white crowd.. so my bad there was no notice in front of the door .. or at the bar .. If I knew I wouldn't have stepped inside this place ..
I'm a 36 year old male who came to this bar for the first time. It was nice. Quiet, cool. My two mates and I had 6 drinks each (I know because I checked my receipt) and the joint wasn't busy at all. I went to buy another round when I was told by the 20-something bar dude that I'd been refused service. Why I asked, honestly a bit surprised. He gave no answer. Just kept saying it was his right to refuse me, which actually kept making me more angry. So I say this: it's a nice bar but the bar staff (kids) let the joint down. No idea AT ALL about how to treat people, let alone the dying art of being a publican. Oh well, off to another venue who know how to treat a customer... Too many good bars in Melb to put up with this rubbish.
The bartender in the ski mask seems to be working under the influence. He was incredibly rude to my girlfriend tonight. I’m sitting here writing this after only 2-3 drinks, and he refused to serve a drink in a short glass when we asked. In terms of RSA, it made no sense. We completely respect the grounds of RSA laws as bar tenders ourselves, but this feels personal and inappropriate to say the least. Amongst other comments he made, we aren’t impressed. Do better, we love this venue and it’s disappointing to say the least watching bar tenders behind the bar be disrespectful to to patrons.
I was denied entry due to not wearing a face mask for medical reasons, even though I didn’t need to explain why I don’t wear a mask(for medical reasons) I did explain.. I was still told that I’m not allowed in. Extract from the DHHS: A face mask is not required in some circumstances including: A person who is affected by a relevant medical condition, including problems with their breathing, a serious condition of the face, a disability or a mental health condition.
Very weak cocktails during ‘Happy Hour’ when my husband asked to add a bit more Aperol they said no, when he said he’s happy to pay extra the Barman said it was the price of a whole new drink. An Aperol Spritz is my go to drink so I’m very familiar with what it should taste like and to me too much soda water and Prosecco was added to the Aperol ratio.

As we work nearby, we are ardent frequenters of this pub. The drinks and service are, as always, nice. Sometimes we might get a little rambunctious or stay past closing but thankfully tonight Brett and Leti didn’t seem to mind and took really good care of us. They had a really good playlist going on as well. All made for a very good night. Wish I could give more than 5 stars.
Cute low-lit little bar with decent specials each night, friendly staff, thoughtful music picked by someone with personality (you get a different feel depending on who's tending the bar) and a hilarious, extensive cocktail menu. Excellent place to meet a date and start the evening or to share a bottle of wine with!
They only get four stars instead of five due to being out of the key ingredients for both drinks I tried to order first. This is an excellent Lygon st legendary establishment that has all the quirk and hospitality you would expect from a place that proudly calls itself a yacht club landlocked in the CBD.
Should be a great place for a tipple but nothing in the joint clicks. The drab and lifeless atmosphere could be forgiven if it wasn’t for the horrendous customer service. Bar staff seemed disinterested and at times bordered on rude. Maybe wait until an ‘Under new management’ sign appears in the window.
I come here every week for the relaxed vibes and good drinks. I am getting really sick of the fact that I can’t sit outside because everyone is smoking. I know it’s a bar but when you have no smoking signs posted and customers + staff are smoking in your face it’s a bit annoying.
Food was okay. $15 for a pizza is reasonable. The main bartenders were nice, but the remainder of the staff were rude. The two guys with the longer hair were especially memorable, not in the best way. Icing on the cake is that they still use plastic straws. Save the sea turtles.
Best place to relax and have a nice drink. Very friendly staff will guide you through the cocktail menu and help you choose the best drink for you. Large outdoor sitting area and cozy insides make this place the best option for having drinks in Carlton. Most recommended …
We recently had a few days in Carlton and came across the bar. The name intrigued us a Yacht Club in Lygon St but found it to be a warm inviting environment with friendly staff. The music was not my usual selection but enjoyed it and it suited the vibe of the place.
The vib on the street. Busy, freindly, a good meeting place to catch up with friends. It has a mixture of locals and visitors as patrons. The staff are cool, freindly, helpful and happy. It is close to some great eating places and is open late at the weekend.
Perfect place to go after having a great feed down lygon street, been there many times for the greatest and most generous servings of mojitos going around. It is always good to see the owner getting his hands dirty. Would highly recommend
This place is incredible! Perfect for a drink after checking out the city. Music is also fantastic. If you come here, make sure you order the espresso martinis. They make them special here. It's a winner through and through.
Small little bar in Carlton. A bit noisy on the night we were there, but good atmosphere. Enjoyed a couple of beers and some pizza .

Best cocktails in Melbourne! If you're out for dinner at the iconic Little Italy of Lygon street, check this place out for some after work drinks and brilliant atmosphere! Bartenders' all alright too x
This has to be my favourite bar in Melbourne. Love the vibe. Perfect chill spot for when you’re trying to let loose after a long day at work or uni. I always keep coming back with my friends!
Requested a mocktail (which was not on the menu) and was delightfully surprised with a concoction of berries, lemon and egg white. Amazing service, very attentive bartender. Great vibes!
Casual, relaxed vibe and well priced drinks if you're in the area. Wines by the glass, whisky and cocktails without the pretence. A good pitstop before a movie or dinner (happy hour).
This is a cool place. Staff are great. Decent beer selection (incl cans). Outdoor seating is nice. Indoor seating is intimate. Been before, again today and will go back in the future.
Amazing atmosphere and excellent bar staff. Come here for knock offs and random midweek drinks with an excellent soundtrack and fabulous cocktails. Always inviting as you walk past
We stopped here for a brief drink before dinner. There's not a body of water in sight! The yachts are purely decorational. There was a nautical theme. Naughty. The tunes were OK.
The Carlton Yacht Club is the best bar in Melbourne! The staff there are absolute legends, they always have rad tunes playing and a bloody good time is always had. Thanks guys :)
One of my favourites. A yacht club in landlocked Carlton? The tongue in cheek humour is evident in the drinks selection and decor, while the drinks and service are top notch.
Only bar on Lygon is right! This place goes off every night of the week and especially on weekends. Great DJ. Great drinks. Great service! Had a great night! Cheers guys!
Nice and friendly and smiling staff, great beers and decent location. I always try to return.

Nice staff. Not a yacht in sight though. Not even any water. Beer tastes like beer, Long Island Ice tea is good, doesn’t taste much like tea though. Not bad.
Came here for a quiet drink with some old friends. Woke up with a crown casino banning order in pocket and my best friends aren’t speaking to me. Five stars!
Small boutique bar, although the place does have a point of difference. It's a small place set up with a boating theme. It's interesting and worth a visit.
I was getting ignored by bar staff at Jimmy Watson's so we came to the Yacht Club and has a much better time! The bar tender's cigarette earring was a hit!
Good little dive bar on Lygon St. Only stopped in for a couple of happy hour cocktails. Spicy margarita was excellent.

Loved this place. Relaxed, dive bar vibes. Staff were friendly and they had a few decent options for beer on tap. Lots of seating out front too!
Death by Tim Tam!!! I was here in 2008, still got its charm, amazing atmosphere and great staff. It is reasonable price and the food so tasty!
Couldn't make a decent cocktail if their life depended on it. Great ambience and tunes, but hire some real mixologists. Disappointing.
Great spot, awesome drink menu, good music, good vibes. Do yourself a favour

Basically the only bar on Lygon Street, and a pretty good one at that. Actually, the only bar worth visiting on Lygon Street.
Nice place, good selection of beverages. We spilled a drink, but the bartender gave us another, free of charge. Thanks, guys!
Food and service were very good with a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere

The only place to get good cocktails but really expensive, not 100% sure they were worth it. Still great cocktails though!
I came by tonight as an emotional wreck. The bartenders were so kind to me and it really, really meant a lot - thank you.
Great yummm cocktail selection ! Cute low key place for casual catchup.

Came here for pre-dinner drinks. It's dimly lit, cozy and offers a good selection of booze. My kind of place.
Over-muddled a drink with Mint which released the chlorophyll and made it bitter. Train your bartenders!
One of those great places that I don't want you to know about but I also want them to stay in business.
Good combination of excellent draught beers, and professionally mixed cocktails Table and bar service.
Really nice bar, had a great bday here 4 years ago, they made it special! Hope it survives the covid!
One of our favourite bars in Melbourne. Awesome staff, relaxed vibes and great music. Regular spot.
What a great and chilled place to be. Great selection of beers and lovely staff. I'll come again.
No yachts in site, overall not bad would come again maybe. Long Island ice tea is tall not long.
Great place, great vibes. Staff is really friendly, what can I say... The best bar around Lygon
Nice bar, but we were refused service for no reason, not much point arranging an evening here.
Great place to go for an after meal cocktail (or an even before meal drink!) Well priced too!
Amazing staff and an amazing bar. I came by myself and made a bunch of mates on the way.
Awesome little venue, bar staff are super friendly. Feels like your drinking in Europe.
Great cocktails. Staff have a great attitude and make every interaction personal.
Good vibe, nice staff, Dailey specials, great cocktails, warm outdoor seating.
Cosy place in Winter. Good range of wine beer and cocktails. Snacks served too
Great service so easy to get along with most comfortable I’ve been anywhere
Not anywhere near a large body of water that would be suitable for yachting
Nice bar, bartender was a top bloke, drinks were well priced at happy hour!
The staff are friendly and a good drink selection. Nice and chill vibes
Came for some drinks after work. Drinks were good and service amazing.
Casual, good fun bar that is a favourite of the hospitality crowd.
Great place to sit, have a drink and watch the punters walk by.
Great cocktails. Limited tap beer but what they have is great!
Fantastic cocktails and the staff are brilliant and friendly
Good to grab a pint on Lygon. They usually play sweet music.
Good vibes, great cocktails. Nice place to end the night.
Love this place. Good beer and cocktails. Nice tunes too.
Packed pub, great atmosphere, hard to find at first
Excellent little bar with lots of great cocktails
Nice cocktails and only real bar on the street.
Decent priced vodka & tonic and nice atmosphere
Lovely and vibe and great staff. OK value.
Best bar in the south end of Lygon street
