Canada Science and Technology Museum is a modern museum located in an industrial park on the outskirts of Ottawa. Visiting on weekday, it’s also a popular excursion for school field trips and the displays reflected that. First thing encountered is the Artifact Alley from various facets of Canadian life in the past. The Children’s Innovation Zone included a fun block vehicle station & test ramp. We spent a while in the Medical Sensations including dancing as skeletons on the monitor. Crazy Kitchen was a bit of a mind-tingling experience. Hidden Worlds and From Earth to Us exhibits highlighted the science, natural resources, and technologies surrounding our lives. Sound by Design included interactive displays that generated DJ music. Gigantic locomotive cabs were accessible to walk through in the Steam engine room in contrast to the bikes exhibit. We spent about 2.5 hours within the museum. There’s not quite as many exhibits as the Ontario Science Centre but it’s still an enjoyable & interactive family experience. Note there’s paid parking in addition to tickets.

Spent about 3 hours here. I was expecting a lot more interactive sections and displays. It was nice to see some of the technology advancement for the bicycles and music. but overall it was a mediocre visit. The place is nicely put together and it flows well. The staff is nice. Military members get free admission but not their family members. They have a small cafe. There is a "studio" to build some stuff which is a great idea for kids. I would bring my kids if I had any, I think they would enjoy it. I was hoping for more games/demonstrations of how electricity works, or gravity/zero gravity demo, hands-on explanation of physics and chemistry concepts like chemical reactions, volcano eruptions, how reflections or sound waves work... I was hoping for it to be more hands-on and interactive not mainly looking and reading. Do it once kind of experience

I’ve been wanting to visit for a while since they tore down the old one. The museum is definitely very kid centered and focuses on sensory stimulation; a lot of the displays don’t do anything. It’s very small compared to other museums in Ottawa, and you could get through it in about an hour. I really enjoyed the silent room, medical sensations, technology in our lives and of course the crazy kitchen! One big downside of this museum is that kids tend to hog the interactions and I feel like it would be useful to have someone monitoring it so that people aren’t just staying in one place. But overall I still had enjoyment as an adult, the gift shop had a few fun gadgets that I would definitely enjoy when I was younger and if you’re in the area and have kids, you should definitely check it out! :)

This museum is great! Very clean, organized, and packed with variety of information. A few hands on areas that attract kids. We were visiting family in the area and came here to learn and waste time between family gatherings. A little pricey and they charge for parking but was worth it. Museum also had lockers, restrooms and gift shop. Note: Parking lot is small! Also, you need to pay at a kiosk and go back to car to place receipt on dash visible for staff to see. Tip: there was a family bundle that included admission for 2 adults and 2 children which saves you a little. Business Suggestion: Maybe they have an area however it’d be nice to have a food available. I feel you could spend a good part of the day here and need a break for food.

This museum is a bit out of the way, not located in downtown Ottawa core along with other museums, lots of parking infront and in the back...paid parking Indigo, I used the app, and it was just fine. A lot families and children, this is PERFECT PLACE FOR FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN! A lot of space to explore, every display is worth a picture, a lot of hands on activities for adults and children, and there's a SHOW about fire ? I missed it...but hearing the sounds, the audience was very engaging and must be fun! Not a HUGE MUSEUM, if you're a family, it should be enough fun for half a day, but if you're on a date or just adults, an hour, an hour and a half tops! Nice gift shop, staff were extremely nice and polite! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR FAMILIES WITH KIDS! :)

Well worth the visit for adults and kids of all ages. Well thought out exhibits with concise and easy to understand timelines and explanations - everything from egg beaters and *real* steam trains to computers and carbon capture. The staff were truly wonderful: thoughtful, knowledgeable, respectful and accommodating. A proud parent moment watching my 9 year old son, after a demonstration on combustibles, hang back to ask the teacher for more info. [On second thought, maybe I should be concerned about the combustibles...] The only downside was overhearing my kids giggle at the name of an old computer on display, only to gaze over and realize it was what I used in grade school. :$ Bottom line: I'd go back in a heartbeat.

An awesome place for young kids to learn and explore the progression of science and technology over time. The museum is divided in different sections each containing exhibits from a specific sector in technology from locomotives, sound, wearable technology, space, science, minerals, and many others. There’s also a special dedicated section for young kids to explore and experiment their creativity. There’s a climbing wall, gear wall and a vehicle building area where kids can create vehicles of different shape, size and weight and explore how unique design changes impact rolling of vehicle down the test ramp. There are a lot of interactive educational experiences for kids and it's definitely a place worth visiting and highly recommended for families.
i grew up going here, 20 years later i still enjoy going here, and i do! every chance i get. It’s so cool no matter your age, there’s something for everyone. the staff have always been friendly and very accommodating. i buy my tickets online before arrival but they are available to purchase at location, without booking an appointment or any extra charges. The museum is big enough that you’re never overwhelmed by people, but not big enough that you wont get to see everything. the shows (?) that they put on at the stage are always wonderful and informative.

Interesting and vast science museum. A variety of both hands-on and hands-off and opportunities. Extremely clean, and love that the exhibits are spread out. There are a ton of employees walking around helping and keeping things in order. We took two school aged children there and we learned a lot. We spent about 2 hours here, but you could spend a little bit more. Prices seem very reasonable for a science museum. There was parking outside, however you did have to pay. There is a map they give you too and nice washrooms.

Very good museum especially suited if you are planning a visit with kids. There are several magic exhibitions, including trains, old tools and sound players. There is a huge DJ-like wheel to spin and “scratch” an enormous LP. There are STEM shows for kids at specific times of the day — you can check the schedule at the museum’s website. Nevertheless, the museum is interesting for adults too. A history of bicycle is portrayed by several dozens of bikes from all eras. And do not forget to visit the silent room…

Unbelievably cool place! Super interesting and exciting! There are many historical exhibits in the field of television, radio broadcasting, space, transport, etc. Also, you can observe the evolution and technological development of cars. Especially interesting for children, as they cannot only look but also touch and try these exhibits. There is a separate place for the smallest children (toddlers), where parents can relax and let the children play in a closed and safe area.

This is a wonderful museum to go to. It is chic inside and very family-friendly. It is nice, and clean, and the crazy kitchen is...well....crazy. With all these positives, why do I give it 60%? Let me tell you. I am a nerd. This is not the museum for nerds. It is fun to go to, I would certainly go there again. But if you are a nerd, it will not educate you very much. Fun experience, not educative. Nonetheless, I enjoyed the experience, and I recommend it if you are looking for a fun museum to go to.

I was very impressed with this museum! I brought my one year old.. and he had a blast. This museum is great for all ages. There is an area called “zoom” directed for a younger crowd. They even had a play area for ages 0-2, where he could run around and interact with sensory items. I was super impressed with the nursing room. They had diaper pails, bottle warmers, and lounge chairs for nursing. Very clean! Staff were so friendly.

A beautiful museum with many updates and all the good parts I loved as a kid myself! Majority of the museum is best suited for kids 5 and older while my 2 kids - 2 and 3 years old, still enjoyed themselves. There’s one enclosed section that is aimed at younger children and that was their favourite place that we could have easily spent over an hour alone. It had tunnels, puzzles, a tornado simulator, car building and ramps etc.

This museum is fantastic. So many interactive exhibits and activities for kids. The large interactive room is a hit. But it's so busy and crazy - and it was quiet when we were there ! Give yourself lots of time...we did about 2 hours with our 3yr old and we skipped a bunch to make sure we got to the interactive play room. Definitely need a lot more time if you want to see all and read all. WELL worth it no matter what though.

My kids loved this place. Very interactive clean and spacious. Not cluttered like the children’s museum. A lot of imagination and creative play. I was impressed at how long they spent in areas of the museum. Would definitely go back and recommend family’s to go. We were a family of 5 from 2-8 yr olds. Something for everyone. Crazy kitchen was a hoot for the kids. Gave the adults a headache good fire show a bit long so kids got bored but fun to watch.

Visited with my 3, 6-year-old, and older nieces and nephew. Spent about 3 hours there. They still have the crazy kitchen and trains. They have a zoom room for little kids to run around and play with hands-on activities but they didn't have signs for us to teach them why in that room. The science shows are great and they did amazing switching languages. They have a coat room for anyone to use. You have to pay for parking but you can add that in if you get an annual pass.
This museum was scrutinized for not being up to date and technologically relevant prior to the renovation. The trains are great, it's still a decent museum.. But the room with all the antique vehicles, the giant egg incubateur, and the space section. I get that ocean plastic and climate change are relevant but an exhibit of ocean garbage and a deconstructed smart car don't really captivate my imagination. Hopefully they bring more of the antique exhibits back one day.
We have been to the museum twice, and would love to visit again. There's something to do for all age groups! You can make a whole day out of it. The demonstrations are pretty cool as well, make sure to time your visit to catch those. Also, don't forget to visit their maker space! Very very cool - but be prepared to give the kids (or the kid at heart) plenty of time to explore.

I assumed that the museum would be a salute to the achievement of Canadians in science and engineering. That is not the case. It is more general in nature. You might be underwhelmed by the exhibits if you have any sort of technical background since the descriptions are quite simplistic. It is a great place to bring children though. There are quite a few interactive displays.

MY first time there ever and my son's as well. We had such a blast there. So many things to see, and learn about and look at, it keep us busy for a couple hours. If you are a teacher, or ECE it's free! There are other professions as well that are included. There wasn't a big crowd of people and it's so big and spacious it feels more comfortable and relaxed.

This place is huge, albeit located in the middle of nowhere. Very cool exhibits for both children and adults. The cafe inside doesn't offer much of a food selection - just prepared sandwiches, wraps and salads in the fridge that some could be heated up on the panini grill. Otherwise, it's just freshly made grilled cheese for the kids.

Went with the kids we are a family of 5 (3 kids, 2 adults ) it was $53.11 which was a good price. Took our time and we were there about 2 hours, they even had a small pyro show happening at certain times. Only thing I find is not as much interactive stuff for the little kids like they used to. Overall still a great place

Ok.. Here's the scoop... It's new it's fresh That's it... For kids it's ok.. They change the crooked kitchen It's not as exciting as it used to be... They used to have staff interacting with children They didn't have that There was a lot of buttons to press with little or no vocals interacting with the children They nail you for parking and entrance. All together it cost me as a senior with parking $23.
Great museum for all ages, children and adults alike. Plenty of interactivity to keep the little ones occupied for an hour or two. Very open plan museum, so if you have kids who love to run, stay close as it would be easy to lose them quickly. Very reasonable prices to enter. Definitely worth a visit.

A lot of interesting things to see, from the old and recent refrigerators, radios, telescopes, medical imaging devices, to locomotives , wagons, weird but playable instruments. I grew up going to this museum and I was so glad to bring my 22 month old there! He loved it!! He had an amazing time in the children's area and pushing the various buttons throughout the museum (which were conveniently within his reach!). I highly recommend visiting whether you're an adult or have littles who love to learn and explore
Very good place to learn the history of technology and how its developed in Canada. This is the second museum that I stayed for the entire day. (From open to close). The ticket price is fair and the last-hour (4pm-5pm) access each day is free.

I’m so lucky to have been coming here for well over 50 years! I miss the old chicken incubator shaped like a flying saucer but they still have the crazy kitchen. I love the trains and my family goes to Douvris Karate studio right beside it so I can drive by my favourite museum almost daily still. …

Fantastic place for family visit. It has a play area for the kids. It is free 4-5 pm, so if you live nearby, check it out. You pay for parking, but it has lots of spaces. Good place to visit once once a year, perhaps. This is definitely one of the several museums that you must visit in Ottawa.
We have a family membership and just love this museum along with the agricultural museum and aviation. It’s a great place for little kids to burn their energy, run around and play with the interactive exhibits. We also love the live presentations, and the place is always clean. Kudos!
