Extrêmement déçu de mon expérience dans ce shop. Très étonné du manque de professionnalisme d'autant plus que ce magasin m'a été conseillé plusieurs fois. Accueil froid pour commencer, j'ai eu clairement l'impression d'embêter le vendeur mais bon ça j'en tiens pas rigueur, ça arrive de tomber sur la mauvaise personne, au mauvais momenr. Bref, je viens pour acheter des pédales, tout ce qui a de plus standard. Le modèle passable le plus cheap est quand même a 35$ +6$ d'installation. J'accepte de les faire installer.. Monsieur soupire car il arrive pas installer mon cadre d'alu sur sa potence. Au final il pose juste la scelle en équilibre (métal contre métal) pour travailler..pro ! Une fois installée sur le vélo je m'aperçois qu'elles sont bien sales, pleines de la boue, peut-être qu'elles ont pris la poussière ? Mais non elles sont aussi usées.. Je confronte le vendeur qui me répond qu'elles ont été "UTILISÉS QU'UNE SEULE FOIS". Je trouve ça inadmissible d'installer du matériel usagé en le faisant passé pour du neuf sans prévenir le client. Est-ce que c'est même légal ? Je sais pas si c'est dans vos habitudes de prendre vos clients pour des cons, le vendeurs m'a quand même affirmé qu'il me l'aurait dit "avant que je parte", enfin après avoir payé c'est ça ? J'ai laissé le monsieur enlever ses pédales boueuses. Aucune excuse de sa part bien-sûr. Le minimum dans ce genre de situation c'est de reconnaître ses erreurs non ? En tout cas si vous achetez dans ce shop, je ne peux que vous conseillez de vérifier que le produit sort bien du blister. J'ai finalement trouvé dans un autre shop des pédales de bien meilleure qualité, 20 $ installation inclue. PS : cet avis ne concerne qu'une ressource du shop de Rachel, je vous conseille d'aller sur Villeneuve plutôt

To sum it up : Super cool guy, warm friendly shop, and great work. I enjoyed my experience and will likely go back when I need a repair I can't manage myself. Jean Michel helped my out with my lil', red, 80's Raleigh Royale kijiji special. The way he eyed her up and handled her, he seemed compelled to tweak and fix her, as if he couldn't let a loose bolt or jiggly wire stay unkempt. You kinda want those types of people working on your bike- the kind that are passionate about bikes, no matter what form they take; fancy, sporty, hipster, utilitarian or personified inanimate object companion (like my lil' red friend, Mistress F.P.). Striking up a conversation about bike culture, Jean Michel was enthusiastic about sharing some great resources and generously offered to put me in touch with other enthusiasts in his bike network. I didn't feel patronized or taken advantage of for being an enthusiastic but not-so-knowledgeable female. The pricing and negotiations felt professional and trustworthy. I'm glad I dropped by. PS. Mistress F. P. is back to roaming the wild urban paths of MTL and I am happy to be riding her again in all her glory.

Cannot say enough praise for C&L Cycle. Having purchase 2 bikes so far through C&L (both custom builds), I'm extremely happy with both finished products! Located directly off the bike path on Villeneuve within the Plateau, the shop is conveniently located and accessible. The shop itself is cozy and inviting; the decor serves as a real tribute to Montreal cycling, and a testament to the shop owner's true passion for cycling. The staff at the shop are both very helpful and knowledgable. Fluently bilingual and accommodating to every question I had. Pricing is reasonable; staff is up front on total pricing; no pressure tactics were used to purchase more than what was needed. However, the shop is stocked with enough supplies and product to inspire me for my next build. When dealing with C&L Cycle, you feel like part of a community. The shop proudly displays many of their custom builds w/ new bike owners on their website and Facebook page. Can't wait to deal with them again!

What I like best about C&L: they're always kind and always patient. They treat everyone's bike as if it's the most important bike in the universe; I've seen them do this for other customers in the store, for friends who I've referred to the shop, and for myself. They are thorough in their bike inspections and they offer itemized estimates that they will talk you through and they will only do the work you're Ok with. I've been going to them for 10+ years and it's never changed. And if, for some reason, you're not happy with the job immediately, they are tireless in their efforts to 'make it work.' On top of that, their Bassi bike line is endlessly ride-able, practical, and gorgeous. Their selection of parts and accessories isn't endless like a big-box store, but, it has the stuff you really need and they know a ton about all of it. There's so much more, but again, across the board they have always been earnest, patient, and absolutely transparent with me.

Réparations de mauvaises qualité pour un prix passablement élevé. J'y suis allée au mois de mai pour un tune up complet et quelques changements de pièces sur mon vélo, juste avant de partir en voyage. Je ne l'avais pas vraiment essayé avant de partir. Il est resté entreposé (à l'intérieur) tout l'été, donc je ne vois pas comment ça aurait pu changer quoi que ce soit aux réparations. Bref, je l'ai ressorti en début septembre et depuis je fais presque tous mes déplacements avec. Le frein avant ne fonctionnait déjà plus après une semaine, et mon dérailleur arrière est complètement désaxé. Après un mois seulement, je dois le retourner en réparation. Je suis consciente que c'est un vieux vélo, mais il est définitivement en plus mauvais état qu'avant. Le staff était sympathique, mais j'ai juste l'impression que le travail a été trop vite fait. Et mal.

... Mon vélo était possédé. Oui oui : possédé !!! En désespoir de cause, je l'ai contraint à me suivre en lui disant : Viens, Emy ( c'est son nom ) on va chez Belzébuth prendre le thé...lalalala...Et hop! je l'ai poussé dans la chapelle sacrée... Immédiatement père Jean Michel et sa formidable communauté sacrée, a pratiqué un exorcisme des plus périlleux..en coeur ils clamaient : Mehr Licht- Mehr Licht !!! Ainsi, après une âpre lutte des plus déchirantes... La lumière fut !!! Hallelujah !! Depuis, c'est le bonheur retrouvé de rouler... Emy, ma compagne de route veille sur moi avec sa force tranquille... Nous roulons sur le nuage infernal de la vie, avec sérénité...! ... Une équipe formidable! Du cœur à l'ouvrage... et intègre !

Amazing service from friendly and knowledgeable staff! I spoke to at least three techs face to face, though email and over the phone and all were top notch and caring about my repair needs. I've visited bike shops in Halifax, Toronto and Montreal and can say hands down this was the best service I've ever received. Quick and professional wheel build and on the spot repairs. Very welcoming and relaxed vibes accompanied with honest opinions. Never felt pressured to into an "upsell" and extremely happy with the outcome of my build. Really appreciate this type of service as it is rare! This staff is on point and I will 100% be doing all my business at this shop from now on. Thanks again!

Vraiment, cet endroit est le meilleur à Montréal pour faire réparer son vélo, le remettre en ordre, être conseillé ou l'entreposer. J'avais brisé ma manette de dérailleur à vélo. Impossible d'obtenir des pièces nulle part en ces temps Covidiens. J'étais désespérée! Non seulement on m'a accueilli avec beaucoup de gentillesse, mais on m'a posé la pièce manquante et très importante pour le bien fonctionnement du vélo, tout de suite et sur place. Je n'ai pas eu à revenir et à devoir me passer du vélo. Je ne saurais trop recommander cet endroit qui est plus que parfait!

I stretched out my brake cable, brought my bike in to replace it, and they just snapped it back in its holder - for free. I left it overnight for an evaluation and they found a bunch of maintenance issues, which I decided not to fix, as I'd already spent my budget on a tune-up at a different shop (who told me everything was fine). C&L didn't pressure me at all about buying the maintenance now. In fact, they even fixed a long-time squeaky handlebar that no one else had managed to - again, for free. They seem really trustworthy, and they don't exploit people with little bike knowledge (like myself). I'd definitely go back.

We found your store today after having a brake failure riding our tandem bike down Mont Royal - not a great situation. Your team was thorough, polite and fantastically competent. When we returned to have our very complex triple derailleurs adjusted the patience and accuracy of our technician was extraordinary. The bike now feels better than when it was brand new. Love the staff and bikes! I wasn't a huge fan of road bikes until I rode the bike I rented from them! Oh what a bike, fell in love with it after the first day and had it with me for a month! I got my seat changed twice and there was no problem! The staff at both their stores (there's another one on Rachel E. ) was very friendly and really chill! I would often go to say hi because they were so nice! I would highly recommend this store if you want to rent a bike in Montreal! P.S. JD at the Rachel store is awesome \m/ Bonus: They also do rides on Sundays!

Pros: Was close to my house, seemed like great bikes and nice vibe The younger sidekick was extremely nice Cons: Owner/manager was a typical bike shop snob & unacceptably rude and condescending (accused me of wanting to "steal their ideas" to do the repairs myself at a bike co-op after I asked why it would cost $100 for what they wanted to do). They ended up doing $115 worth of repairs on my road bike, and returned it with mis-aligned derailleur that didn't even change gears. I did end up fixing THAT at the co-op! Will never, ever approach again

Déjà trois ans de passés avec le Bassi que j'ai acheté chez C&L et j'en suis toujours aussi totalement satisfait! Jean-Michel et son équipe son super sympathiques et efficaces, leur travail est toujours irréprochable. Le prix du vélo, qui me semblait d'abord élevé, se voit largement justifié par la qualité de leur service et de leurs produits. Les gens m'arrêtent fréquemment pour me passer de bons commentaires sur le vélo, je leur conseille C&L sans la moindre crainte qu'ils trouvent là-bas ce qu'il leur faut.

Que ce soit pour un tune-up, une réparation ou pour l'achat d'un nouveau vélo (oui, on peut faire tout ceci dans un délai très court), l'équipe de C&L Cycle offre un service irréprochable. En fait, Jean-Daniel et les autres employés sont très compétents, mais aussi sympathiques, généreux de bons conseils et -qualité non des moindres en ces temps - patients. On peut poser plein de questions et avoir des réponses claires et sans jugement. Et ceci autant à la boutique sur Rachel qu'à celle sur Villeneuve.

C&L is the best! We've had bigger and smaller jobs done there over the years and the work is consistently good and the service is always friendly and welcoming. Last week they pulled a stuck chain out from between the chain ring and the frame, and raised her seat for the new season free of charge when we showed up at their door in crisis mode :) A real neighbourhood shop; you get the impression that they just want to help you get back out there and ride. I am not kidding when I tell you that this place is amazing, today my bike decided to make a lot of noice, it turns out the bottom braket needed to be replaced, when I arrived the technician was so nice, in fact the whole crew had this nice vibe, he took the time to look at the problem, the whole interaction was very pleasant even when they were insanely busy, totally appreciate the nice vibe this place gave back to me, I wil totally come back here.

Best service in town. Bilingual and effective. Most of the repair I got would have needed an appointment in any other place but I was efficiently served with no delay each time. Staff is very respectful no matter what type of rider you are. Each recommandation makes sense and several options are offered. I tried a lot of places in Montreal and nothing compares to this shop. They also provide you with quotes and bills by e-mail with is a plus.

Par où commencer... je suis allé chez C&L un peu par la force des choses, car tous les ateliers proche de chez moi dans le Sud-Ouest étaient fermés ou n'avaient pas la roue qu'il me fallait. J'ai donc cherché plus proche de mon lieu de rendez-vous. Et quelle bénédiction d'avoir pu découvrir cet atelier! Rapidité, efficacité, très bon service, employés sympathiques et experts, prix tout à fait acceptables, je suis vendu.

En rentrant, j’ai dit à ma conjointe que mon expérience au C&L a été des plus agréables, qu’ils n’ont pas seulement réglé mon problème (de vieux lion de 82 ans incapable de poser un nouveau pneu sur la jante) mais qu’ils m’ont laissé filer à l’anglaise, et je sais de quoi je parle – je suis né en Angleterre! Peut-être influencé par le choix de musique du magasin m'ont-ils offert un premier cadeau de Noël?

Absolutely amazing service! The staff was really welcoming and fixed my bike on the spot even though they clearly had other work projects. They were all really kind. The store is also stuffed with nice Montreal made bike frames and such. The pricing was good considering some of the other bike shops in the neighborhood. Recommend C&L Cycle over the much more expensive spots around in the Mile-End.

I've been coming here since 2013 and still trek from halfway across town, regularly trust them to tune my bike or for major works. I'm no bike expert by any means, but the staff at Cycles C&L made a point of carefully showing me the problems I had with my bike and did an excellent job of fixing it. Perfectly bilingual and they seem more than capable of helping out the more experienced cyclists as well as rookies like myself. Highly recommend this place. Great, friendly service.

I saw about 5 mechanic's in a cramped space all working on separate bikes. It was a sight to behold. Got served extremely fast and the guy promptly answered my questions. The mechanics were a bit cold, but I guess that things are pretty busy during April. I don't think it's too hard to crack a smile or make a joke every now and then though.

Stopped in today to get a wheel looked at where the tire wasn't sitting properly on the rim. Five minutes later problem solved by Jean Michel ( I think that was his name) anyway great friendly service - best surprise didn't charge me anything...how about that.... definitely going back when the time comes for a tune up. Worth the effort!!!!

I'm new in Montreal, last Friday I went by the shop/store looking for some items for an old bike I had just got on kijiji, also with flat tires and a lot of doubts about cycling here. The owner is friendly and fixed my flat within 15-20 minutes. The only reason I give 4 stars is because the mechanic started giving me attitude about replacing my chain. I really didn't have the time or patience for that drama and just wanted my flat tire fixed and to get back to my day. Irritating experience but good job.

Excellent experience. Online apt booking for appraisal with detailed statement of work. They told me 3-4 days wait time but ended up doing my bike same day, and doing one item free of charge (plus helped me install lock rack and gave me a nut for my reflector). Awesome shop, great guys, wholeheartedly recommend.

I've done maintenance on all my bikes there for years (from simple commuter bike to performance road bike), and they always deliver, while taking time to explain how they did it. Pricing is awesome, but didn’t ship package for 6 days (including Saturday and Sunday) after their system created a shipping label. Kind of disappointed that the parts take so long. Order was placed on Sept 1 and will not be expecting it to arrive until September 14…

At first I put a bad review because they couldn't fix a problem on my bike, but turns out it was a really difficult problem to diagnose (brake lever on a Shimano Claris was broken). I came back today for another bike, great service!

Clown show. They send the estimate to the wrong email address, wasting 2 days in the process. I go in after 5days when they tell me it's a 2 day job, bikes not been touched. Then they tell me they might get on it tomorrow. Clowns.

Friendly staff and service. I messed up my road bike pedal while fixing it for the first time. Wasn't able to get the screws/spring in place within the pedal. They managed to fix it and did not charge me.

C&L Cycle is truly amazing. They provide excellent service at a level that is truly rare today and always go the extra mile to make sure that your bike is in the best shape possible. What a great team!

Good shop however they make you pay $15 for every small reparations. The service offered is minimal, I went there 3 times for a check up on my bicycle and they charged me $15. Not worth it.

C&L really know bike commuting in Montreal. I went in for some air for my tires and kept coming back for quick fixes. The staff are professional and complete jobs in a timely manner.
